Hi All
I have a main form which displays some basic info aboute a site. I would like to be able to place multiple buttons down the right side of the form. This would be similar to having a seperate column which is not affected by the number of records on show. I have considered placing them in the form header but think a column down the side would look much neater.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I did a search in the form forum and couldn't find anything close that had a response.
I have a parent form and a sub form.
I have the parent set up to make the enable property false for the command buttons that aren't appropriate when you first open the form: Like Save and Undo.
I want to do the same for the child form, which has different data linked to the parent form.
The parent form always grays out the inappropriate boxes.
The subform will gray them out only if I open it as a stand-alone form. When I put the code in the Open, or Load or Gotfocus events I get an error message that it cannot locate the subform.
So I have made all the necessary forms to start working with my Access, and now I need a main form, a home where I should put all the buttons to enter each form.I have used the Navigation Control on a New form URL...
A row with buttons appeared, and I complete the property: Navigation Target Name with the target form, but it is giving me some trouble with a searchForm and a Query. Every time I enter this form (using nav control), Query asks for an Input.
I'm currently building a database in Access 2013. I've used Access many years ago, and not really in anger since maybe 2003, so I've been re-learning quite a lot. Here's an overview of my scenario, and issue:
The main purpose of my database is to allow engineers to log various bits of information when building, servicing and testing manufactured products for offshore exploration. Because some of the engineering team aren't so great with data entry etc, I've decided that, rather than deleting data, I'm going to use a 'deleted' flag: user clicks what he considers to be a delete button, but in reality an update query will simply update the flag and, because the form is built on a query which includes a 'where deleted = 0' filter, it'll no longer be shown. This will allow us more control over the data and will also allow me to check that everything is running okay.
My main forms include a number of subforms, including one which includes a second tier of nested form: Pin Maps for (electrical) Connectors.
What I need to achieve is fairly straightforward: as the user navigates around the form, I'd like a 'delete' button which is specific to that subform to become visible and for any other 'delete' buttons to become hidden. Once tested, the buttons would be 'stacked' in the same position at the top of the main form, so the user just thinks they're deleting the relevant record in the sub, or main, form.
Hello to all the Users! I am new at Access and new to programming. I have created an Access form that has four labeled control buttons each one with an individuals name. I have the corresponding code:
Private Sub Email_PersonOne_Click() DoCmd.SendObject acSendNoObject, , , "personone@yahoo.com", , , "Work Request", "A new work request has been submitted." End Sub
When I have one button and one code the email function works. I want the users to be able to select one out of four people who they want to notify upon completion of the form. So I have four buttons and changed the email address and the names on the buttons but now none of the buttons work. The code is on the same page separated with just a line between each section.
Does this make sense? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and help. Sincerely, DebraF
I have built a end user form with multiple toggle buttons with "Yes/No" properties. I am wanting to link the buttons together, so if all have been selected/pressed it will read "pass" in a text box, but if even one is not selected it will read "fail". I was successful with the programming for one but not sure how to link them.
I have a main form with multpile tabs - each tab containing a different subform.
Link Master Field: ClientID (field in Master Form) Link Child Field: Client ID (field in all subforms)
There is another field that all the subforms (continuous type) have: ObligorName. All the subforms are based off of a huge table (subtable) with fields: Obligor Name, Address, Zipcode, City, DOcuments Required, Bank Account Number, etc......
Essentially, the user will fill in the 10 obligor names associated to ONE client on the first subform on the first tab + address + zip code + city.
When the user clicks on the second tab to fill out the next subform, I want all 10 obligor names to be there already, so then they can fill out Documents Required + BAnk Account Number.
If I fill out the first subform and then exit out of the form and then reopen it, the other subforms autofill.
HOWEVER, I dont want to have the user have to do this. It wastes a lot of time. What can I do about this so that the table is automatically updated right away. They are all based on the same table so I do not see why there is so many issues.
I have an existing Main form that has a sub form that the user uses to enter multiple records into a table....it works fine EXCEPT that I need to make it even easier and more intuitive and add a lot of labels. Basically the user selects items from a drop down list that adds items to a Work Order. I need to add some labels to the form to make it more descriptive for the user.
So, what I want to add multiple records using a single main form.
Is is possible to?:
1. simply turn the subform into a single main form? Can this be done by using a Command button or something similar?
2. copy all of the controls etc from the sub form into a new main form and have it all work nicely?
I have a database with a Main Menu Form, containing a Button that loads my main data entry form. When the Button is Clicked portions of the data entry form that is loading shows through the Main Form Background (e.g. portions of the navigation bars, and portions of the boarder on the form that is loading.)
I have a subform which makes a change to a field on the main form. When focus is returned to the main form, the BeforeUpdate and AfterUpdate events fire. Why? I thought from the form's perspective, the subform is just another control.
BTW, I get the same behavior if I modify the field from within the Exit event of the subform control.
In either case, the main form's Dirty event is NOT triggered.
Was woundering if the was a way to habdle multiple command buttons with one procedure. I have done a little VB.Net and I remember that you coud use one sub to handle multiple buttons using the handles key word. I was wondering if Access could do that. What I have is 37 command buttons named cmdView1 through cmdView37 all I really need is the number that prefixes the command buttons name. I know how to pull out the number but I can not figure out how to use only one sub procedure for all 37 buttons. Any help is appreciated.
Hi - I have another problem. I hope you can help me out on this one.
Right now, I have 3 toggle buttons to control the visibility of 3 subforms. However, I only want a single subform to show at any given time. So, if I were to select toggle 1 it should give me subform 1, and afterwards if I select toggle 2 it should give me subform 2 WITHOUT showing me toggle 1.
Is there anyway to get the toggle buttons to work with each other?
Have found some code that originated from this forum, and have modified it to suit my needs. There's one form with all the information, that has multiple buttons and subsequently multiple functions to generate emails, with each button/email to generate a different format and content. The first use of a button works fine, but trying to use the next button right after does nothing. If you exit the form and re-enter, you can then use the next email button, but that's a pain and the users won't like that. Can anyone help? I've pasted a sample of the code that is being used below, it's duplicated and changed slightly for the other buttons. I currently have the button linked to a macro that does other things like saving, and setting dates and then running the function.
Thanks, Don ----------------------------------------------------------------- Public Function AckEmailNew() On Error GoTo Err_cmdMailTicket_Click

I am attempting to make a macro to pull information based on a clicked button to provide information to another form. While my example below will be rudimentary, I am attempting to create so that it can be applied to 450 buttons, hence the need for it to be a macro and not simply code per button.
For example if I have 3 buttons, captioned: red, green and blue. If I click on the blue button, it will open another form with a text-box that will say 'blue'. Likewise, if I click the red button the text-box will be changed to 'red'.
In the code below the section that I need to change is: Command1.Caption. Using this data I can pull from the one button to create the value, but I need it to be based on an OnClick or something in order to pull the value from the right button.
Question 2: I am trying to use a query to change button colour on the basis of values stored in a table.What I want to do is change the button background after comparing the button name to the same variable in a table, and determining another variable.
IE: Button1, Button2. In table: Button1, Val = Y, and Button 2, Val = Z
Pseudo Code: Array: From Button1 to Button2 Query for Button1 against table If Val = Y, Button1.background = red Else if Val = Z, Button1.background = blue Else Button1.background = black End if
Can anyone help me with how I can accomplish this?
Here is what I currently have:
10 SQL Pass-through queries to update different Date field (Date1, Date2, Date3, etc.) based on the value of the next date field.
This is how each individual query is set up (there are 10 in total) UPDATE tblApplications SET tblApplications.LastContact = [date1] WHERE (((tblApplications.Date2) Is Null) AND ((tblApplications.[Date Completed]) Is Null));
Here is what I would like to have: (as 1 query)
UPDATE tblApplications SET tblApplications.LastContact = [date1] WHERE (((tblApplications.Date2) Is Null) AND ((tblApplications.[Date Completed]) Is Null));
UPDATE tblApplications SET tblApplications.LastContact = [date2] WHERE (((tblApplications.Date1) Is Not Null) AND ((tblApplications.Date2) Is Not Null) AND ((tblApplications.Date3) Is Null) AND ((tblApplications.[Date Completed]) Is Null));
UPDATE tblApplications SET tblApplications.LastContact = [date3] WHERE (((tblApplications.[Date Completed]) Is Null) AND ((tblApplications.Date1) Is Not Null) AND ((tblApplications.Date2) Is Not Null) AND ((tblApplications.Date3) Is Not Null) AND ((tblApplications.Date4) Is Null));
Can I somehow combine them together like this or do I have to keep them as 10 seperate queries?
I'm trying to create a database at work keep track of projects I'm working on and all the different events that happen during the project.
I want the main table to be customers, which will include the job number (as the primary key) name, address etc. Then I need other tables that have information about the building permit that will include dates city names etc and then another table that would include information on our sales people and so on, there would be maybe 5 tables that all connect back to the customer table.
I have tried this several times and keep running into problems, I'm sure it has something to do with the relationships. I'm missing something. I can create 2 tables and it works fine but once I add a 3rd it wont work.
I am relatively new to Access. I am having difficulty summing up totals and bringing them into the main report. To be more specific I have two sup reports called WOExpenseTotalSubreport and WOServiceTotalsubreport. These two subreports are based off of queries that gather the description, price and qty of either services or expenses and then produces a "total" for me on the query.
When I bring these two queries into a report as sub reports I am able to Sum the "total" field in the subreport footer which works fine. What I would like to do is add those two totals together for a grand total on the main report. The two summed fields are called ExpensesSum and ServicesSum. It seems most things I have tried do not produce an expression error but the result is either #error or #name? Here are a few different scenarios I have tried both on the main report details section as well as the footer section.
I have this query in design view and in an asp page and it works fine:
SELECT dbo_feedback.*, dbo_origin.originName, dbo_product.prodname, dbo_category.catName FROM dbo_product INNER JOIN (dbo_origin INNER JOIN ((dbo_feedback INNER JOIN (dbo_category INNER JOIN links_cat ON dbo_category.catID = links_cat.CatID) ON dbo_feedback.id = links_cat.FeedbackID) INNER JOIN links_product ON dbo_feedback.id = links_product.FeedbackID) ON dbo_origin.originID = dbo_feedback.origin) ON dbo_product.prodID = links_product.ProductID;
BUT, I want to return all feedback entries, even if they have no matching Product or Category. :confused: When I change the inner joins to outer joins I get a syntax error in the browser window. I changed the join type in the relationship diagram in Access and tried to recreate this in query designer, but Access says the statement cannot be executed because of ambiguous outer joins.
FYI, one feedback can have many products, many categories, and only one origin. I have the joins correct and enforced.
I want to use buttons on a form to change the sort order on a continuous form. In the buttons click event I am using a public function (named Sort_1) to change the sort order. The first element of the event call is the name of a generic query (named Sort_1_Query1) and the query field to sort (LAST_NAME OR FRIST_NAME, depending on the button.)This is the Click Statement.
=Sort_1("Sort_1_Query1","LAST_NAME")
This is the Public Function Public Function Sort_1(SortName As String, FieldName1 As String) DoCmd.ApplyFilter SortName, FieldName1 & "between 'A' and 'Z'" End Function
I think the problem is in the use of quotation marks or trying to pass the query field name to the Do Command or the use of an ampersand.
I have created a master form, which is a tab style. I have five additional forms that I want to use as sub-forms within each tab. I also want to include master navigation buttons that will work for each sub-form in unison. In other words if I navigate to record 10 on tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I want the new tab to show the information related to record 10. It would appear that I need to link them together in some fashion.
I have created a form in Access 2003 based on a query, the form has a sub form( basically the form shows different projects, the sub form shows the stages of the project, one project can have many different stages). I want to put a command button to add a new record for the data in a sub form, I have managed to create one for the main form, but not the sub form.
