Multiple Fields Of Multiple Tables To One Table Query Or Report
Apr 12, 2013
I have 10 tables, 30+ fields on each table (every table has the same 'account number' field). I only need from 5 - 20 fields from each table. How do I get the certain fields from each table and put them in a table, query or report?
A small issue I was wondering of for a few day . Is it possible in SQL query to SELECT multiple fields from multiple tables ? Example for the question is
Code:
dim my_var as String my_var = "SELECT Emp_FName , Emp_LName , Emp_Adress " _ & " FROM Table1 " _ & " AND Emp_Date_Of_Payment , Emp_Sum_Of_Payment " _ & "FROM Table2 " _ & " WHERE Emp_ID = 3 "
Is this code actually valid in SQL gramatics , and is it usable if passed to a Recordset variable ( rs = CurrentDB.OpenRecordset(my_var) ) ? Just FYI - The two tables are not related and I want to keep them that way (If possible relate their records just via SQL/Vba )
I am great with Excel but not soo much with Access 2010. I Excel, what I needed to do was very simple but duplicating what I did in Access is not soo easy.I am trying to calculate billings for FSA & HRA. I have set up one table with all the data. I want to add columns to the table to calculate:
1. Is there an account balance-excel formula: 2. If the account is still active 3. If the plan year run out is "active runout" or "runout over" 4. calculate each account type with a rate *count of FSA accounts = total to bill
Here are my excel formulas that for the life of me I can't get to work.
I HAVE A DATASETS cSV TEXT FORMAT WHICH HAS A SELECTION OF FIELDS THAT NEED TO BE IMPORTED INTO A TABLE. USING THE ADVANCED IMPORT FACILLITY I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO IMPORT THE DATA PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS FOR MY A-LEVEL STUDENTS.
THE FIELDS REQUIRED IN THE SESSION TABLE ARE, Booking ID, Customer ID, Date Booking Made, Pickup Point, Payment Made
I get tasked to use access very infrequently but now I have been asked to create a database. I am struggling with combining 2 tables. I have different data on each table however I do have a unique Identifier. So on table 1 I have Bud, his height, weight, etc. On table 2 I have Bud his home address, phone #, etc. I am using name "Bud" in this case as my unique identifier. I want to create a query that gives me Bud, his height, phone # etc. I want my query to pull in all records. Bud may only have info on table 1 and Budette could be on table 2 but not on table 1. I would like my query to include all the unique identifiers and as much info as I have in the tables.
Here is my current table structure (I have omitted some fields from this example and have given some sample data in italics to make the table structure more clear.
tblEmployees
ID (autonumber) 3 EmployeeName John EmployeePhone 555999555 EmployeeLocation New York
tblClients
ClientID (autonumber) 1 , 2 , 3 ClientName ABC Company , XYZ Company, PQR Company fkeyLocationID
tblLocations LocationID 1 , 2 Location New York , Chicago
The junction table tblEmployeeClients only stores ID of the Employee and in the second column (which is a multi-valued field), the ID of each of the clients the employee Supports.
I am trying to generate a report that lists say, EmployeeName alongside the clients supported by the Employee (listing the client location is not required, however, it would be good to know how to do that as well).
The report (for the example above), should look like this:
Name Clients Supported John ABC Company, PQR Company
Currently, I am able to get :
John 1, 2 i.e the client ID for the clients that the employee supports instead of the corresponding company names.
I have a table with a separate record for each client. Each record has 5 future dates called ToDoDate1, ToDoDate2.... and tasks to be done called ToDo1, ToDo2....
I want to create a query that will search the 5 dates from all client's record and pull all the dates selcted within a range and list the ToDoDate, ToDo and name and a report.
I created a parameter query to prompt for user for dates to search between and can get the report to work for ToDoDate1 but I'm unsure of how to do this for the multiple ToDoDate fields.
A list of codes that will be updated monthly, which will be the basis for querying the second table. Approx 100 rows of data.
2. Table Original
A data file obtained from IT where i'll need to sort it to find any codes that are including in Table1. This includes approx ~ 10,000 row of data.
** note, the "BIC" from "Table BIC" can appear in any of the 5 BIC columns in Table Original.
What i need to do is create a query that will:
1. Search the "BIC" from "Table BIC" in all 5 columns of "Table Original".
2. Where it has a hit, it will create new table - for example, the first row of table Original includes the BIC "ABC" in the "BIC 1" column. A query would create table "ABC" and place this whole record (all 8 fields) in new table "ABC". No modification needed.
3. Where two (or more) BIC's from "Table BIC" appear in one record in "Table Original" - the result will only need to be placed in one of the new tables (really doesn't matter which one). For example, Record #4 includes the BIC "ABC" in field "BIC1" and the BIC "DEF" in the field "BIC4". Therefore, a new table would be created (either ABC or DEF) to capture this information.
My report produces multiple copies of the same record. I know why, but don't know how to fix it.
EmployeeTable.
With a one to many relationship with TrainingTable (via employee PK as FK in trainingtable).
Training table has a one to many relationship with a table called Range.
Report is based on a query that picks up the Employee/Training/Range (range just describes the training unit).
However, If I have more than one range expressed organized a training unit, the report spits out several copies of the Employee record to display all the ranges.
I have a table that is basically a survey form. The same series of options was available for 35 questions, and the table used to have a text string written for each answer. Because of all the repetitive data, I created a second table that assigned a number value to each of the nine possible options in these 35 separate fields. What happened is that, instead of the same text strings repeated over and over (and taking up real estate), now each of the 35 columns had a single number in them.
Now comes the day of reckoning and TPTB want a query with the raw data and the original text strings back in instead of the numbers. I was thinking doing something along the lines of a DLookup, but I can't seem to make that work in a query correctly. Apart from calling the same table and linking it over and over to the different fields in the original data table (see photo for how insane that is).
Please could you advise me if tables have to be linked in order to perform a query on multiple tables? For example searching for a date and matching records on more than one table at the same time.
So I have a form that has a sub form on it (based off of a junction table), indicating which category a particular project belongs to. It can belong to multiple categories:
ProjectID 100 Category Admin Finance
But I want to run a query to find all of the projects that are both admin and finance. When I do that now, it comes up as two separate records in the query, which is fine... but I have to know the projects before hand to find if it's in both, because it returns heaps of records, anything that says admin or finance... and that defeats the whole purpose. I want the query to show me JUST the projects that have both of those in their subform..
All retailers have at least one distributor BUT a retailer may or may not have ordered any products.
I have created my form but the query linked to the form is having some trouble. It is only selecting those records that have ordered products. For example, if I query a retailer name only and it does not have any ordered products, it will not display. Is there a problem with the table joins? The SQL for the query is displayed here:
I am fairly new to Access and I would like to create a form to allow users to create their own query. I would like to allow users to select multiple fields (perhaps with checkboxes?) from all possible fields in a table to return either all data from that field or narrow their search by inputting certain criteria or choosing from a drop down into a text box. Is this possible in Access and any detailed specifics on how to achieve this?
I am working on a database which has two tables used as part of a registration and login process.
I would like a couple of fields from table one to automatically update in table two, once the fields in table one are populated without using an 'on click' event.
The reason I would prefer not to use an onclick is because the completion of the form used to generate the users table does not require any buttons for the data to save.
I am trying to get data from 19 tables for my report. I add them all in the record source property of the report and when i save it, this message is dispayed:
"The string produced by the builder is to long. The Results will be truncated."
And on another report it says there is a error in my sql statement, but i have checked trough it and there is no errors. Is there a limit to how many records you have have in a report? Any help would be much appriciated!!
I am trying to setup a database for vehicle stock control. Im not sure if I have gone about this the right way as I am new to this but thus far it is working correctly except for one annoying problem. The database consists of so far
In the Vehicle Details table a stock number has to be manually added as this will be used for new stock as well as current stock (Number range from 100 - whatever) "IAWVehicleNo". This table contains all relevent data with reguards to make, model, bodytype, color etc. The sellers table contains the details of the seller Name, address, Phone, LicenceNo etc. The Buyers table contains employee names. The States table contains all Australian states. The Status table contains current vehicle status Retail, Wholesale, Wrecking etc. The Sold table contains the details of the person who purchased the vehicle if sold. The Safety details table contains a safety checklist for pre purchase inspections eg: Headlights yes/no checkbox, Headlight text field for any extra info. It also has a field for a safety Certificate No once the vehicle is checked and recieves a Safety cert. The forms are setup as frmIAWVehicleDetails frmIAWSellers Subform frmIAWVehicleSafetyDetails frmIAWVehicleSafetyDetails Subform
The Vehicle Details,Sellers,Sold & SafetyDetails tables all have the IAWVehicleID & IAWVehicleNo Fields but when the details are entered through the forms the IAWVehicleNo which is the manually entered number only updates to the tblIAWVehiclesDetails but the other IAWVehicleNo fields in the other tables remain blank. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a table that is going to track people. First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth in three separate fields.I dont want to be able to add the same person in the table. How do i do this when the data is in separate fields.
I have a member table and donation table. For a donation, I'd like to lookup the last and first names from the member table. I set the lookup for the last name and can see bothe first and last names in the drop down list. When I pick, I get the last name in the DonationT but how to I pick up the first name? That is, how do I fill DonorFirstName in DonationT from the FirstName field in the MemberT?
What I have is a table ('tblJobLog') with our main listing in it where we add customer job information as it comes in. The 'Customer Name' is a dropdown list that links to our table 'tblCustomers' so that we can ONLY select a customer name that we deal with. The alternative is to add a customer or list them as COD.
Now this is where I would like to target, the COD's. We still like to keep a record of who the COD is and we have some common customers that are listed as COD only.... So when we go to enter the customer name we have to put COD and in the description we are suppose to input the customer name (We will says RandyShop <--- me, for now).
What I would like to have done, if possible, is to see when we select 'RandysShop' from the dropdown, it checks to see if the COD Status (in the 'tblCustomers' table) is set to YES (its a check box, or YES/NO field). If it is set to YES (or selected) then the change the name shown in my main 'tblJobLog' to look something like COD: RandysShop.
The reason I would like, if possible, to do it this way, is because some customer go on and off COD regularly as the mess around with payment. So instead of creating a new customer that is listed as COD: RandysShop to have access do the leg work based on a simple YES/NO field (COD Status).
I am trying to generate a count report from a multi-table Access database. It is a recording database with a songs in one table, recordings in a second table, and a third table that links the two. I am trying to generate a report of songs with the most numerous recordings in the database.
For this operation, I don't need the recordings table. The main question is: For each title in the songs table, how many records are there in the links table with key number <50000? More specifically, for the report, I only care about the ones with a count >= 10.
Ideally, my report would look something like this:
65 Moon River 58 White Christmas 43 Autumn Leaves 42 Way You Look Tonight, The etc.
As a corollary to this, how would I add a current, dynamic count to the form I use to access the database. Whenever a song title is pulled up, a field would show the current count of records in the links table with key number <50000.
I want to create a form that allows users to update multiple fields for multiple assets. Below is what I came up with:
Ideally, I'd like the subform to be filled in by having the user select multiple Assets from the S/N combobox field which would then auto-populate the "Type" field. Then they would fill out the appropriate fields they want edited in the top part of the form. They hit save and magic happens. This would also be nice because only assets they want edited would be displayed (easier on the eyes) and no distinguishing would be necessary. To do it this way, I know I would need to use a temp table but I wanna avoid using temp tables.
I know I can do this by adding a Yes/No field in the "Asset" table, setting the "Asset" table as the subform's recordsource, and then putting a checkbox in the subform and allowing them to check the assets that they want to edit (which would also allow me to sort it instantly so that checked Assets are at the top of the datasheet for easy viewing), but I would like to know if there's a way of accomplishing this without the use of checkboxes.
I know I could also use a listbox and that allows them to multi-select items, but I'm not sure if that allows me to group all selected items at the top of the listbox for easy viewing of selected items. Plus it would involve a lot of scrolling (there are over 2k assets).
Working on a report that displays multiple pie charts. Each chart is based on a different query. I cannot pull a single query for all charts due to the criteria for each conflicting with each other. Each query is filtered by Fiscal Year based on what I input into my Fiscal Year Filter form. The command button on the FY Filter Form opens the report, set TempVar to the FY field (the criteria for each query), and closed the FY Filter Form. This works as I want it to.
The problem: I have additional fields I want to show up on the form such as number of completed students (WINGED). This number is based on yet another query where all completed students are counted [WingedCount]. I have tried to write an expression to an unbound field that points at this [WingedCount] field but it does not work. Then, I changed the report's source as the query with the [WingedCount] field. This does work, however this is where I run into an issue
I open my FY Filter Form and type in my criteria and select the open command button. However, now I am asked for the criteria again for each chart on the report.
I need a way to input the criteria only once and have all charts populate as well as my count field.
I have attached a jpeg of my current report and will upload jpegs of the needed output following this post.
I have a report based on a query that I put inside a form. What I want to do is create 4 comboboxes from which users can choose options that will filter the report without leaving the form or opening the report in a separate window. Also, I want to make the filters dependent on each other, meaning if a select option A on combobox 1, the options i will select on combobox 2 will only be based on the earlier filter on combobox 1 ...
So far I'm able to do at least 2 of the comboboxes to filter the report, but they aren't based on which one was used to filter the report first. So if i filter the records by choosing option A on combobox 1, combobox 2 will still filter every record.
here's my 2 codes so far:
Private Sub cboLocation_AfterUpdate() On Error GoTo Proc_Error If IsNull(Me.cboLocation) Then Me.qrySalesByLocation.Report.Filter = "" Me.qrySalesByLocation.Report.FilterOn = False Me.qrySalesByLocation.Report.Requery
[code]....
the other 2 comboboxes, I can't apply the same code cause the enter parameter dialog keeps popping out.
Hi All, Being a newb, have a hopefully straightforward question. I'm writing a vehicle management database which covers eleven seperate areas. The data is currently contained in a spreadsheet with eleven seperate data sheets, one for each area. My thinking is I use linked tables as the spreadsheet needs to be occasionally updated. My difficulty... If I want to cycle through all records, I assumed I could query against all tables but don't seem to be able to. The tables are not currently linked in any way and contain fields such as registration, emissions, list price, make and model and so on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
