I have a form full of cascading unbound combo boxes which allows me to assign companies and people to a project.I have a save button which writes the selected values to a table.To view the assignments when the record is later viewed I have placed a bound field behind the combo box.

I have a form with fields being input to a table to create records in a query. The query is dispalyed in a ListBox.
People are forgetting to create a New Record, selecting an existing record in the List Box and overwriting it.
How can I prevent this?
Please, no code solutions - I don't understand those. Events and macros I can just about grasp.
Thanks

Hi,
I have this query here:
SELECT sum(subtotal) AS final_count
FROM [select count(*) as subtotal from 1_2_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_9_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_16_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_23_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_30_06 union all select count(*) from 2_6_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 2_13_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 2_20_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 2_27_06 WHERE Role='EUM']. AS all_counts;
I save it as a query then I try and run it, but I get an error saying that the path is invalide. When I open the query to look at the SQL it looks like this:
SELECT sum(subtotal) AS final_count
FROM [select count(*) as subtotal from 1_2_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_9_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_16_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) from 1_23_06 WHERE Role='EUM' union all select count(*) fro] AS all_counts;
Why is this happening?

I am using Access 2010 and Excel 2010. I need to have VB script to export the access table 502 records by 38 fields into Multiple Excel workbooks each having multiple tabs. In the Access table each record has two fields: Div and Tab that will be used to name each workbook and each tab (sheet). There are 6 unique "Div"'s to name the 6 workbooks and there are several "Tab" names for each Div (workbook).
Note: These 6 workbooks with multiple tabs were originally imported into Access from one common folder on my desktop by this routine:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub Command1_Click()

Excel workbooks would take names from the "Div" field and the tab names would come from the "Tab" field in the Access table. First need to find workbook name (Div - Field) then the look for each sheet name (Tab - Field) to create 1st Excel workbook with all the sheets (Tab) and repeat the process. I think you need to approach of read the Access table one record at a time keying on the "Div" and "Tab" fields in creating each Excel workbook with the associated multiple tabs (sheets) that are written to a common folder.

Greetings. When I create an Access database on my company's "secure" server (through a PIX box), I get this message in a dialog box when I try to open the database again: "Open File - Security Warning. Do you want to open this file?" It then gives the file Name, Publisher (unknown publisher), Type (Microsoft Office Access Application), and From (the file path and name). The bottom of the dialog box has this message: "While files from the Internet can be useful, this file type can potentially harm your computer. If you do not trust the source, do not open this software." When I click on the "Open" command button, the file opens just fine.
There are a couple of things going on here:
1) When I open this same database or any other Access database on another of my company's servers that is not protected by a PIX box, I do not get this dialog box.
2) When two users try to access an MS Access database on the "secure" server, the first user will get in, but the second user will not. The second user will not get ANY warning messages -- nothing happens. This occurs if the second user tries to open the database by either double-clicking on a shortcut on the desktop or by double-clicking on the file name in Windows Explorer. Note that the second user CAN access the same file if s/he starts up MS Access from scratch, and then chooses FILE>OPEN from the main menu.
My goal is to be able to let multiple users access the MS Access databases on the secure server by either double-clicking on the shortcut icon or by double-clicking on the file name in Windows Explorer.
I thought perhaps that the "unknown publisher" issue might be part of the problem on the secure server. So I created a certificate using the utility "SELFCERT", went into the database, went into Visual Basic (Ctrl-G), went into TOOLS>DIGITAL SIGNATURE and assigned the digital signature, and re-saved the file. I then exited the file, went back in, and the dialog box still pops up saying the file's publisher is "unknown publisher"! If I go back into Visual Basic, the database is clearly marked as digitially signed by me. I don't know why the initial dialog box is still showing that the file is not digitally signed.
If anyone has any thoughts about these issues (multiple users not being able to access the same Access database, and why my file is saying it is still not digitally signed), I would appreciate your input. FYI, I am on a Windows XP workstation and our company users Windows Servers.
Thanks,
David

I created an access database for the sole purpose of sharing approved data with my entire company. The end users will view the data in a Form which utilizes several tabs and also gives them the ability to run pre-set queries out of the Form. The Form was created using several queries which were built from tables off of the server.
The tables update every day, as does the information in my Form. The problem I am running into is that it takes about 2 minutes to open the DB (the DB opens directly to the form and all queries run immediately to update), which is annoying to end users and might deter them from actually using the tool. I have tried moving the DB to SharePoint, but that did not work due to the size of many of the tables.

I have a table called "Mov" and its columns are:
Code:
Number | Link | Name | Status
1899 | htto://example.com/code1 | code1 | Done
2 | htto://example.com/code23455 | code23455 | Done
3 | htto://example.com/code2343 | code2343 | Done
13500 | htto://example.com/code234cv | code234cv | Deleted
220 | htto://example.com/code234cv | code234cv | Null
400 | htto://example.com/code234cv | code234cv | Null
So I want a way to update Status of my rows according to numbers list. For example I want to update Status column for multiple numbers to become Done .
Simply I want to update "Null status" to become "Done" according to its numbers according to this list
Code:
1234
53
546
767
2135
6657
43
34
Something like this
I tried "update query" but I don't know how to use criteria to solve this problem. In Excel I did that by "conditional formatting duplicates" -with my number list which I wanted to update - Then "sort by highlighted color" then "fill copy" the status with the value...

My goal in Excel was to combine them all into a single Pivot Table which I did. The issue is everytime I add a sheet I need to redo the Pivot Table, which would be a hassle as I will continually be adding sheets. I'm hoping that there is an easier way this could be done using Access. The individual sheets are emailed to me and then I put them into one Excel file, is there a way to take that Excel file with all the sheets and import it to Access and be able to sort the data as I would with a Pivot Table in Excel?

I worked yesterday to create a database consisting of a table, multiple querries and a form. Today I went to open it and I got a different database I worked on months ago. The properties say it was created yesterday, but it is not the same database and I can not find the database I created yesterday.

I am currently working on a project to develop an access database to manage a roster of calls to clients on a daily basis based on two general criteria:
1. Pre-determined days selected by the client. (e.g. Call Mon, Wed, Fri only. This can change as client requirements change.)
2. Ad-hoc changes based on the client’s circumstances. (e.g. No call from 27/7/2015 to 29/7/ 2015)
I have managed to successfully deal with the second of these with the following expression in a query:
CallToday?: IIf((Date()>=[NoCallFrom] And Date()<=[NoCallTo]),"No","Yes")
However dealing with the first is a little more difficult to work out. I have tried a multivalue lookup field with multiple days selectable, but constructing an IIF query to deal with these multiple values is proving quite a challenge.
I am thinking of using a table with days of the week and a junction table to allow the multi-selection, but I may need constructing the relationships and the query here.

My colleague has a multiple table database and uses lookups for some fields. The simple query was to extract 3 fields and display all records from those fields. The result of the query was that the selected fields were listed first followed by all other fields which are usually not displayed.

I've been trying to load data from multiple excel worksheets in multiple workbooks into one table in Access. The first one loads fine, but after that I get errors and can't load anything else. All of the sheets are in the same format, so that shouldn't be the problem. Every solution I've tried has been a bust. All I want is to take all of my data and put it into one big database. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I am using VB.NET 2003 and MS Access XP for a desktop application. While developing the application we have a reached a situation where we want to print a report which retrieves records from four tables. Till here it is easy to think that it can be done by a simple SQL JOIN query, but following is the complexity:
The first table stores a single row.
The second table stores multiple rows related to the Primary Key field defined in Table One.
The third table stores a single row related to the Primary Key field defined in Table One.
The fourth table stores a single row related to the Primary Key field defined in Table One.
The above SAVE RECORD option is performed when a user fills a Form of my application. As stated above, all the four tables are inter-related with a Primay Key field (TNo) defined in table one.
I also have a MS Access Report that will print information retrieved from all the four tables. The Report has some of the fields from each of the above table. The SAVE operation is performed in this way:
(1) A unique TNo is generated for a new record that is about to be created.
(2) All the entries are saved in their respective tables (mentioned above.)
(3) An access query will fetch the records pertaining to this TNo from all the tables to fill the report.
I want to know how to write such a query when I have to fetch multiple rows of a table in between. Is there any way that I can pass the TNO as a parameter to this query that is saved in MS Access?

I have an access database in which I have a table A and table B. Table A has a list of 200 website URLs. Table B has one column ID and another criteria.
I want to create a query to filter websites list which does not have values or characters from table b.
I have these values in table B that I want to be filtered out or not shown in my URL Select Query
.org
.gov
.du
.pk
.dk
I would keep on adding more criteria into this so criteria table so adding new criteria into table B should not disturb our filtering.
Below is what I have tried but in vain and it says atmost you can atmost one criteria row in sub query
SELECT tableA.WEB_ADDRESS
FROM tableA
WHERE ((([tableA].[wEB_ADDRESS] Not Like '*'+(SELECT * FROM tableB)+'*')=True));

Hi folks.. I'm trying to dynamicly create a table in an existing ACCESS database..
Here's wat i'm using:
PHP Code:<%
strDB = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=" & Server.MapPath("../../../imgdbase/vrienden.mdb") & ";Uid=Admin;Pwd=mljiscool;"
sql = "CREATE TABLE " & request("login") & " (id INT(10) PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT, email VARCHAR(155), gevalideerd VARCHAR(10) DEFAULT 'nee', inlogCount INT(10) DEFAULT 0, lastLogin DATETIME)"
Set DBConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
DBConn.Open strDB
DBConn.Execute sql
DBConn.close
Set DBConn=Nothing
%>
Code:I'm getting this error:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in CREATE TABLE statement./mljnew/welcomeportal/registration/registration/test.asp, line 7
What am I doing wrong ??? The code here is probably the MySql correct code (Access uses different data types / field names ???) Hope somebody can help me out, because I can't find the correct data types anywhere ! (like use TEXT instead of VARCHAR, that's all I know...)
Here's the actual sql i'm using (displayed by response.write sql):
CREATE TABLE roel (id INT(10) PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT, email VARCHAR(155), gevalideerd VARCHAR(10) DEFAULT 'nee', inlogCount INT(10) DEFAULT 0, lastLogin DATETIME)
Thnx !!!!
