Hi there, I'll give as much information as I can. This is my first post, I'm used to programming in Delphi but someone set me this task in Access/VB so I'm practically a newbie.
I'm creating a system for a youth project. All Youth Workers want in depth access to the list of kids in their area. Currently, all young people are stored in one table. The staff can access the list of young people via a form that populates Name/Age/IDnumber (basic information) from a report based on the criteria project = 'project_name'.
I have set up another form that displays the individuals in depth information.
I would like to access the indepth individual form from the list by a dblclick event.
but, I can't work out how to get it to open to the appropriate record.... any ideas?
In the Purchase Order details form a Supplier has to be chosen via a combo box. Based on that another combo box in the subform displays products only from this supplier (Products table is linked to supplier table).
I managed to let the subform combo show only relevant products using criteria referring to the main form combo box. Also other product data will show accordingly in text boxes. So far so good.
However when I close the form and reopen it the subform combo box is blank, other text boxes still show the right values. If I remove the filter criteria for the subform combo then all fields show all data correctly. (However the combo box is unfiltered again 8-/)
So somehow the 'criteria' prevents the combo to show the value that was previously chosen.
Im not sure if this is the right place to put this but I was wondering if you could help me:
Say I have database with forms that display records or people ie name, address, postcode, etc. What I want to do is display a list of Names then from that list I can double, single click and open the record details.
Id call my self and amatuer at access and am probably guessing this is done via vscript or something else, but any help will do.
I created a search form that searches for Customer Number, Part Number, and Revision Number. The results are displayed in a List Box.
I want the user to be able to make a selection on the List Box and click an "Open Selected" button that launches that record in another form. How is this possible?
I've got a form/subform showing employee/position details. I've disabled the regular record navigation buttons and put in ones of my own. If I'm advancing through all the position records for a particular employee using the next record button, when it gets to the last record, the next button advances to a new blank record. Because I'm prepopulating new record fields with previous record values, the users sometimes don't realize they've just created a new record. Is there a way to advance through records without advancing past the last record into a new blank record? I still need the ability to add new records on this form using the add record button I've created.
I have a form that displays customer account information. The form is connected to two tables. each customer has their own account number that i use to lookup their information. right now i have to click on the account number field and click find to pull up the record. I have built a popup form that displays the customers names with their respcetive accounts. My question is, How can i use the popup form to select a customer name and have the main form goto that record without using the find button.
i am trying to switch between 2 forms using a command button..
i have 2 things i am trying to achieve
i want the form to open up at a new record as at the moment it seems to be opening at the last record created.. i have tried to use an open form function for new records but that doesnt seem to work.

However, this opens the form with record 1 loaded. There is a danger that someone might accidentally enter data over that, so I would like it to open up to a blank record (at the moment, users have to know to press the ">*" button). How can I do this?
Thanks in advance for any help... and for putting up with me of late! ;)
I have a main from named RequestChecks with two list boxes on it named ListDateii and ListDateiii .Also , there are two subfroms named OperatingAccountII and Operating AccountIII. tHE list boxes have master-child bound relation to the subforms .If user scroll ListDateii and highlight the date , the subfrom shows the resord associated with this date . And the same with ListDateiii. If it is possible, when a user opens the main form RequestChecks, the list boxes show only the date of the last record and consequently the subrofms show the last record.
Private Sub Form_Current() Dim rs As Recordset Set rs = OperatingAccountII.Form.RecordsetClone If rs.RecordCount Then rs.MoveLast MySubForm.Form.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark End If
hello, I have form "QUOTE" (which has a check box "GenerateOrder") and form "WORK_ORDER". Once I click on "GenerateOrder", I want form "WORK_ORDER" to open, and I want to assign a value from a txtBox in form "QUOTE" to another txtBox in form "WORK_ORDER" creating in this way a new record on form "WORK_ORDER". I want to make clear that as soon as the value is passed or assigned to the txtBox in form "WORK_ORDER", a new record for this form should be created.
I tried this code:
Private Sub GenerateOrder_Click() If (Me.GenerateOrder.Value = True) Then DoCmd.OpenForm (WORK_ORDER) [Forms]![WORK_ORDER]![QID] = [Forms]![QUOTE]![QID] 'assignment End If End Sub
I would like to create the following functionality on a form in my database:
When the form is open, and a record is displayed on the screen, I want to add a button that will open up a second form displaying information related to that record.
To be specific, I have a form called "Contracts". Each contract record contains a customer name in the field "Customers." I want to create a button labeled "Customer Details" that will open a new form, "ViewCustomers" displaying the record associated with the value entered in the "Customers" field for the current (displayed) record only.
I have been trying to use a hyperlink to a macro that uses "OpenForm," form name "ViewCustomers," but I don't know how to filter it down to just the current record.
I hope any of this makes sense. Any insight would be really helpful.
I've initiated a log on procedure, with a password.
A user enters their ID and password. Once the correct password is entered, the next form is then loaded up, to which they make some choices.
My problem is that I have lots of users, and I would like them to only access the page that is relevant to themse, and NOT be able to see anyone elses.
I gather there is a little bit of tweaking to go on the docmd.openform...
line, and somehow incorporate the userID, but not entirely too sure what it is.
I open the very first one (main form). From there, I wrote a little VBA in the 'Add Record' button that if a certain checkbox in that form wasn't checked when I click 'Add Record', it would open up the 2nd form.
The problem is, when I open up the 2nd form and enter info, the info is all put into a new record.
I want the 2nd form's info to go into the same record as the main form. It's all related.
How do I do that?
Note:I built the 2nd and 3rd form from queries that had parameter querying in them...the parameters are frmo the main form.
I've searched the database and found similar problems but don't understand the replies (mainly DCount()).
I have a control form where a user can search the database by entering information. The form asks them to type some text that will appear in a description field, and match any records with the same text.
However, when the user types the text and clicks the button to open the form (which is linked to a query searching the description field), I want a message box to say no records found before opening the form. Mainly because when it doesn't find a matching record, the form opens with a new autonumber.
I either want a matching record to appear, or a dialog box saying no matching records found and the form not opening therefore not creating a number that is not used.
I tried in the command button entering if recordcount>0 then openform but it doesn't like the else statement or doing a if recordcount=0 underneath.
I have 2 forms, with a "PNID" field as the link between the 2. In the 2nd form, the PNID field allows no duplicates. I have a button on the first form to open the 2nd form to add a record.
I need some code to put on the button on the 1st form to check whether a PNID record exists on the 2nd form before opening it.......does this make sense? What is happening is that I click on the button, try and add a record, then it tells me one exists and I cannot add a duplicate...
I have looked at the threads, and have tried using DCount? Is this correct?
I am opening a form, from another form, that is based on a table of 20000 records.
I am using the WHERE criteria to do this, code is included below. I need to provide database access to several users on a network (and only want to lock the record that the user has searched for), and was wondering if this mode of data access will lload and or lock all 20 000 records on the users sytem, or if it will just load and lock the specific record that has been opened using the WHERE condition to open the form...
HELP When the user double clicks on the icon, the form automatically appears on the screen. That's good. But record number 1 is there. I want a blank record there so they can enter their data. This can't be difficult, but I can't figure it out.
I have a Calibration form, with a button on it that links to an Equipment Inventory form. In the Calibration form, you choose the instrument you want to calibrate from a combo box (which in turn automatically selects the barcode number for the instrument in another combo box), then if you need to edit info on it (ie. serial number), you click the button
Now, I need the Equipment Inventory form to open to the record that matches the bar code in the second combo box
If I have an unbound text box (Number of Episodes) with a control source =Count[(UR]) how can I make the form open to the highest number. (ie if a person has two episodes how can i get the form to open to the second one?)
I have a table with a schedule of tasks that are required weekly for the next year. Each record has Monday's date as the Scheduled_Date" for the task. From my main form, I have a command button to open a form linked to the table, so that amendments can be added to the table for each record (i.e. - If a task is complete/incomplete/progressing etc. the user marks it so.
What I would like to do is have the form open at the task scheduled for the current week, based on the "Scheduled_Date" value. Whilst I can do this with a simple filter, I would like the form to open with all records available to the user so that they can go forwards/backwards as they wish, but the first record they see when the form opens is the one specific to this weeks date.
Self tought in Access07 but I'm trying to do the following:
I've got a form (Clients_F) that has a subform in datasheet view with a list of quote numbers made by each customer, I have managed to make a Macro after a few hours and googling, that opens another form (Quotes_F) so that it can be edited when a quote number is clicked, but I wish to be able to open Quotes_F as a new record when the empty field under the numbers column in the list is clicked.
Also want to know if it's possible to mantain the Customer's details pre-filled?...I am guessing that this is done through the CustomerID(PK & FK)?
Hi. I need help and I needed it fast. I have a small access database which i want to creat a web front end for. I have already created a Data access page and it works fine apart from one important thing. When I open the Data Access page it loads the first record on the list. As this page going to be Add only I dont want to view any record apart from adding. therefore when i open the page it should be new blank record, ready for input. i have looked everywhere but cant find a solution for it. pleeeeeeeeeeaaase help. i appreciate any help given. thanks:confused:
I was wondering if it is possible that when the form is opened a blank record could be displayed rather than the first entry in the table. In other words, it would be like opening a form and clicking the "Add Record" button, a blank record would be displayed and data entry could take place.
I have created a database with a switchboard and a form ("RMA"). Currently, on my "RMA" form I have a command button that allows the user to find a specific record by entering an RMA number into an input box. My code is as follows:
Private Sub cmdFindRMA_Click() Dim myFilter as String If vFindRMA = "" Then 'vFindRMA is a global variable, string. vFindRMA = InputBox ("Enter the RMA Number to find:", "Find RMA", "", 5000, 3000) myFilter = "[RMA_Number]='" & vFindRMA & "'" Me.Filter = myFilter If Me.Filter = "" Then Me.FilterOn = False Else Me.FilterOn = True End If End If vFindRMA = "" End Sub
I want to be able to remove this command button from my RMA form and add it to my Switchboard. My problem is, I don't know what code I need to use in order for it to work from the switchboard. Can anyone help?
