we are traders of metal scrap. we have lots of material pictures on the basis of container numbers. We want make a user form where on entering the container number the relevant picture will be shown.
What access and vb, are all about are images - I want to display in vb, form containing bit map images. I am trying to display on a vb form data that is stored as a bit image in an access data base- (the image is stored as a ole object in the access data base). I have tried having the object linked and also tried embedded in the access data base. It displays just fine on the access form running under access. However, when i open the file in vb do the select, then the movenext, and then try to assign the value of the field to a picture variable and other types of variables i come up with a data type mismatch error -
this is a repeat of an earlier post, but i'm hoping this wording might get a better response
I am using Access 2003 in a simple database and want to add digital pictures of each item in my database.
Before trying to enhance the database with pictures; the various fields are filled with either descriptive text or numbers. The size of the mdb database file is 464k.
I recently wanted to add a picture of each database entry. After adding a picture that is only 300k in size the mdb file increase to 18MD. Then after adding another picture also of 300k bytes my database grew to 25MB.
In the drop down menus Under Tools - Database Utilities - I ran the Compact & Repair Database. This did not reduce the size.
In the database Form I am using a Bound Object Frame to hold the picture and yes I am not linking the picture I am including it in the database. But, would only expect it to increase the database size by slightly more than the picture size.
I should also point out that the only way I have found to get the picture to be visible (not just an icon of the type of picture file) is to right click on the Bound Object Frame scroll down and choose Insert Object. Click on Create New and select Adobe Photoshop Image. This open adobe photoshop I make sure the picture properties are creating a picture of 300k.
So my question(s) is again. Why is my database increasing in size so rapidly? Is there a better to insert picture into a database?
I have Access 2003 and have trying for some time to insert pictures. I have followed the instructions step by step as outlined in the BIBLE and nothing. I recently acquired a new computer and the problems still persists. Can anyone help.
I know its possible with the right code because I put animations into my VB assignment last year. I just need to know how to do those group things where several objects of the same type (like twelve picture frames) have the same name and are told apart by a number in brackets. eg. imgThewave(1).
I've been reading everywhere on this site trying to find out how to do this, but just can't seem to grasp it. I see people saying it can be done, but can't find more specific details on how to go about it. I just want to view a pdf file from within the access environment. I need to be able to view contracts from my app, and joy oh joy they are all in PDF form.
Any help is greatly appreciated to get me started on this. I've tried using the Active X Adobe Acrobate Control but to no avail.
I had scanned these forums, but i didn't see what I was looking for. I'm new to access, my intern ship short of threw me into it. eh' but that is not the point.
I have to build a circulation spreadsheet, and my bosses would like there to be pictures for each item. Any ideas on how I could do that? Thanks for your time.
Hi there im trying to build a database that stores a large number of photos and would like some suggestions on how i can upload multiple photos (20+) at one time without uploading each one individualy, preferably through a form.
To outline the problem, each member of the team has a camera that they take to jobs, when they return i want them to be able to open a new form, enter the job number (the primary key) onto the form and then somehow drag and drop the pictures from the camera onto the form to upload them.
Is this possible through Access? is this the best way of uploading multiple photos easily? and how do i build this?
I am using access 2013 to make a PowerPoint presentation based on the data in a query. I know how to do that much using VBA but I am also trying to make a slide with a picture on it from a saved location.
Dim db As Database, rs As Recordset Dim ppObj As PowerPoint.Application Dim ppPres As PowerPoint.Presentation On Error GoTo err_cmdOLEPowerPoint
[code]....
At the moment I am not worrying about adding the data as I know how to do this and had it working before - its just adding the picture to the slide.
Where I can get some better pictures for my access database. The standard ones are really not all that great. I am looking for a stock pile of pics that I can place in my files so that I can draw upon them whenever I am designing my database.
I just havent had much luck designing buttons in GIMP.
I am currently working on a project for work on re-creating our database for our daily audits. We enter daily information on a form which feeds to the table and in return we run the queries to get the percentages and all that good information. I was asked to be able to load a picture of to a particular record. Can I do that from the form and that link to the table and to the queries that run?
Viewing a report from an Access Webpage... I can not, unlike from a form, create a button to view a report. Is there anyway around this? Is there no functionality to display the report as an html page or so?
I am trying to view a Crystal Report within a Microsoft Access Project. I am recieving the following error " object does not support this property or method". I have registered the crystl32.ocx and the crviewer.dll. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks Jacqueline
focking pissed off. i want to add an image to a some forms, the database is all working and that. but when i put a picture in in the design view and then go to view it the whole thing crashs. i nearly lost the whole data base from putting one on the home page, thank fock i had a back up and now ionly have to redo one form as the other one wont open anymore it will just crash every time i try to open it. i have no idea whats going on, i have other images that i put on it before, but i cant put any on now. anyone every encounted this and how do i over come it!
I have a report that links to a picture. It displayed great in earlier versions of access, but when I switched to 2007, the pictures are displayed but they look like they are posterized. They print just fine. I use an image frame, zoom size mode and centered. They are fairly substantial jpegs (2 megs), but regardless, it is the change to Access 2007 that caused the problem.
I have set up a secured database using access 2003 which I want to roll out to users who will only have access runtime installed on their pc's. The problem is there are some additional options that I want to add to a new menu (export, change password etc) that I need them to be able to view in runtime - when I set up a new menu in access 2003, it doesn't seem to be visible on anybody else's PC when they are logged into the database regardless of whether they have full access or runtime.
I have created a report in Access 2002, that I use to export to Excel. My problem is the field names in the report are quite long and some are very similar to each other. I can not find a way to view a list of the field names for the report while in Desing view.
I have no real formatting on the report as I only use it for exporting, and looking at the report itself in Access, all the field names are truncated
Any help on how to view which fields are in the report and how could I easily add another field in the middle of it if needed.
Hi, My database consists of some personal data and a photo of each person. I am trying to include these photos when I browse the database via ADP. I have found instructions how to do so at Microsoft website (article ID: 285820) Link for it: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=285820 The problem is I cannot make it !!!!!!!! Where exactly should I paste the VBscript in the page code to execute displaying of the photos??????? I am happy to send you the head portion of my page code if anybody knows where to paste it.....
I have a access DB for my employees with pictures. The main form displays their info and a picture as I scroll page to page. But I also have contact report that will show all info and picture. I am having difficulties linking the pictures from a seperate folder on my server.
I am very new to access and have a question which I think is very easy to answer. What I have is an access file with a listing of companies, their contacts and what services we provide for them. (each company/client/service is listed in a row with each new set of information on the row below it).
What I am looking to do it to create a data access page that anyone in our office can view. I want the access page to have a text box where they can type in the name of the company, then click a 'search' button. That will then display the results in a box below everything. The results would be the contact and the services (there are other columns in the datasource as well, but I didn't list them).
If anyone can shed some light onto my problem it would be most appreciated!
if let say i create a page that have database (*.mdb file) and for my client side, the PC don't have Microsoft Access, can they view the page that have *mdb file?
I have successfully used the recommended way to display images from a folder in a form as posted on the microsoft website.

These instructions were for Access 2000. I noticed that there are seperate instructions for doing this using Access 2003.:

My questions are: 1. If multiple users access this database using different versions of Access (2000 and 2003) will it not work for some? 2. do i have to modify code if i update to 2003?
I have been tasked with creating a database to log employee suggestions and then automatically present reports around the site. I have developed the database and it works OK and can output *.PDF reports, but I'm having problems with how to display these reports. My idea was to output the reports automatically as *.TIFF or *.JPG files and have them stored in a folder that the My Pictures screensaver uses. The reports (in fact, any site report stored in this folder) can then be shown on any screen dotted around the site when it goes into screensaver mode. However I can't find any way to output/convert to a picture file.
The other option is to create a webpage that rotates through the saved PDFs, but this isn't ideal as the PC users will have to load the webpage to display the reports.
I like to make a small code in access to take pictures with any camera, then store with file name, date and time? please I need help.. if someone can give me an idea I appreciate this. thanks again..
OK, I asked this question a day or so ago and got some feed back. What I would really like is a difinative answer. Basically Yes or No. Is it possible to add small picture, (icon size) to a comobox. I realise its not good practice to have pictures embeded in the DB but on this occasion its what I need to do. Ive found software on the web that allows you to do it, which leads me to belive that it can be done, any ideas!
