Possible To Display Only Selected Row In A New Form?
Sep 25, 2013
I have created a from which consists of search boxes in the above and the table in the below. If we search for any in those search boxes then the results will be displayed at the bottom (The results will be displayed in the table which is located at the bottom of the page).I had done with the above part.
My Requirement : If I click on any of the row in the results table then is it possible to display only the selected row in a new form? If I search for a keyword MS in a search box and if it returns 40 results and if I click on any one of the result then the selected result should be opened in a new form.

I have continuous form in Access 2010. I highlight selected record. Now I would like when user will select record, that record will display button to give ability user delete it. For not selected records button not visible and disable. How to display button only in selected record in continuous form?
I have created a Db in MS Access 2010 and under Options > Current Database I have done the following:
- Used drop down to select a form I want to display on opening - Unchecked display navigation pane - Unchecked allow full menus
This works how I want it to, perfectly. I then send it to a client who also has MS Access 2010 and when they open the file the form I have told it to open doesn't open, the navigation bar is displayed (with the form I want to open highlighted) and the full menus show but are locked.
What's going on? Is it some security setting the client has that isn't letting the opening procedure execute properly?
I am posting this question again, as I think there was some miscommunication from my side. I sinccerely apologise.
Actually there are three fields on a form.
1. Combo Box : Label is Name 2. Text Box : Label is Code 3. Text Box : Label is Department.
These three fields are stored in the table.
I wants that when the form gets loaded, then in the combo box field all the names from the table should appear. When I select the particular name from the list and the focus is lost from the combo box then the two values from the table should show the corresponding text boxs.

Here is my problem. I have a table with a lot of columns. I want the user to be able to select which column he wants to display in a query/report, how do I do that? Is there some kind of way to do a command
SELECT [table].[like [user input]]
either in SQL or Query Design, so that a form would pop up and ask user for input, and then display column whose name corresponds to that input.
I'm this is a simple issue. I have a combo box which can have the following status's: Not Started, In Progress, Complete. Depending on the value of the combo box i want a different image to show. So if not started is selected i want the user to see a red box. If Complete is chosen, a green box will show. i can do this easily enough but my problem comes in when i go to the next record. The boxes just stay visible regardless of what option is displayed. What event is triggered when you go to the next form?? Form Open / Load doesnt seem to work.
I am trying to display a total based on 3 separate combo boxes in a form. there is a name with an associated number value using 2 fields. the values come from a linked value spreadsheet. the name field is "text" and the number is "number". the user selects their name and number using a combo box drop down window. this occurs 3 times in my form and i want to sum them in a 4th combo box. this is about how it should look, where "Total" happens automatically depending on the name selected.
I am making a database, but lets say I have 12 locations and have say between 2-100 named people at each location.
I want to be able to link 2 databases together.
I can use lookup wizard to select either a location, but I also want access to display the names at ONLY the location previously selected (IE: Paul and Bert are in Brazil, Steve and Carl are in Cuba, I want once Brazil is selected only Paul and Bert to appear as options). I'm sure it's fairly basic but a having a little trouble with it, and not knowing the technical terms is making it hard to look up.
I have a form with about 30 controls. I organized it carefully so that all the controls show on a single page. It actually looks really good. However, several of the controls allow multiple values. These appear as a check box showing up beside each item in the list from which these controls take their information. When I run a Filter by Form process, the form flawlessly pulls the data from the table that I'm seeking, and the check boxes are visible, both the ones with checks and without. In a few cases, in order to fit everything onto one page, I have most of the related list hidden, and use scroll bars. This works really well for data entry and for editing individual records.
Where it DOESN'T work like I want it to is in situations where the checked item(s) in the multi-value control don't show up in the box on the form without scrolling. In the table where these multi-value fields actually live, what shows up is just the code for each option, a simple numeral, with commas separating any multiple values. Is there a way to make my form show only the selected codes like in the table? My suspicion is that I'm going to be told no, that the best way to do this is to use a report and query.
In Access 2010, if you have a form with a subform in datasheet view, and you move the focus away from the subform, how can you tell which record(s) on the subform are selected?
When the subform has the focus, the selected row is shown with a blue/grey tint. But as soon as the subform loses the focus, this disappears and all rows look identical.
Its an issue as I have 2 datasheet subforms on my main form, with the 2nd showing records related to the record selected in the 1st. But as soon as the 2nd subform receives the focus, it is impossible to see which record in subform 1 was selected.
I have tried conditional formatting, but that does not work.
Can I look up and verify data on a "second" form based on a selected record from first (still open) form.
I am trying to allow users to select a User Name from a combo box list and then open "Change Password" form when they select "Change Password" for that selected user name.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to associate and verify the data tied to the user name selected on the previous (Login) form ( I am trying to validate the old password tied to that selected record).
I have the first login form created, and it's working just fine. I also have the change password form created (and it's displaying the user name selected from the first form using:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() With Forms![frmLogin]![cboUserName] Me.txtPwdChgUserID = .Column(2, .ListIndex) End With EndSub
I also have the code written to validate and confirm old password, new password and validate new password (when the save button is clicked). I have yet to update the password with the new password (still trying to figure that out).
Attached zip file has screen shots of the two forms.
I would like passing values from first form until third form.
In the first form I have a list box after selecting items (For each selected item in first form I have 4 values) and pressing button (or right click of mouse) the second form will be open, then in the second form I have 2 option (inserting, deleting), when I select inserting or deleting in the second form, third form will be open, in the third form there is a "OK" button, when I press that, passed values from first form will be used for inserting or deleting records to the table.
I've search around the forum and haven't come up with the answer yet.
So here goes...
I have a main form (GRCSearch) that is tied to a table (StoredSearches). When users enter data in this form it saves it to the table. It is a single record form. The data entered by the user is used to search a big second unbound table via some queries.
The search data entered is then recorded to the table (StoredSearches) as a way for the user to track searches and to recall them if they want to run the same search again.
I've created a pop-up form that displays a continuous record layout of the StoredSearches table and a command button at the left of each record.
I want the user to be able to click the command button to the left of each record in the pop-up and that in turn set the focus of the main form to that record. It recalls the search data, repopulating the search fields of the main form. And in the onclick event I'll also have it close the pop-up window.
I however cannot find any references to setting the focus from one form to another form this way. I've found plenty that changes the focus of a form from an embedded subform.
I have a form that updates records. When the user opens the form in data entry mode, it is too difficult to find the correct record. What is the most efficient and simple way to have the form open to a specific record?
Solutions I have considered are a popup form that the user will enter the equipment code (which is the unique identifier of all records). Also, the user may not know the record number, but they will always know the equipment code (which is a field in the "equipment" table).
But I am not sure of the best way/best order to do this.
I suspect this is probably rather easy, but I've not been able to figure it out:
I am using a combo to select a record in a form. This works.
The problem is: When I navigate through the records in the form, the combo box does not "update". I need to be able to change the record displayed in the combo box as the record in the form changes.
I would like to place a "Print Report" button on my primary form that allows a Filter By Selection (OR Filter By Form) first, then when selecting the button will view or print my already-created primary report but only for the records that were selected by the filter.
I looked and looked, but am not sure even what to search for in the forum. I know this has to be simple.
Form is called PrimaryForm. Report is called PrimaryReport.
I have a listbox on a form that show all Files for a particular volunteer. I have an "Edit File" button below the listbox to be able to edit that particular file. Is there a way about opening that form to that specific record without using a query?
I have created a form, which extracts records from a table and displays them in a list box. This works, but what I want to do next is highlight a single record in that list box, click a button and have the record open in another form. This is the code I have at present:
Private Sub DisplayEnquiry_Click() On Error GoTo Err_DisplayEnquiry_Click Dim dispCriteria As String
When I try this I get an error "The OpenForm action was canceled. You used a method of the DoCmd to carry out an action in Visual Basic, but then clicked Cancel in a dialog box."
I've double-checked that I've typed in the correct names etc. so I am at my wits end! Can anybody help me out? Thanks
I'm new to access and am currently building a simple db customers table and jobs table, I have a setup a relationship between the 2 and have the jobs bt las a sub form of the customer, but only showing a small amount of the job data.
What I would like to do is be able to click on a specific job within the job subform and navigate to that record in the job form where I can see all the data about that job.
i have employee form to insert employee information one of its text box on click another form open of schools name where i can select the school work how can i pass selected school name to the main form
I'm intending to make two extra fields open up if a particular value is selected. Just as a simple example:
Field: Type of Item Possible Values: Alcohol, Beverage, Cutlery
So if either a beverage or alcohol is selected, I would like a new field to open up. For both Alcohol and Beverage, I would like "Content of bottle in mLs" to open up. For Alcohol, I would also like "Percentage Alcohol content" to also open up.
So basically, if a specific value is selected, I would like extra fields to come up. I'm not sure if there's any simple way to do it, or whether it requires VBA coding, but either way if it is possible I would like it to be done.
1) How do you make an input mask enter from right to left? For example, if post codes can either be 4 or 5 digits long, I put 90000 (requiring at LEAST 4 digits) but if you start entering data, it starts from the 9. Would it work if I did 00009? 2) Is there any way to make a form go through a progression of screens rather than all the input fields being on the one page?
I have a report that is based on a query. The query has filters in it based on user info entered from a form. So the form asks the user to select which division of the company, and the date range for when the info applied to. My issue is that I am trying to set a macro that opens this form whenever some tries to open the report.
But the macro appears to run the query before it opens the form and it gives me a generic message box asking for the division. After I type that in (instead of selecting from a drop down list like I have on my form) another window pops up asking for start date, etc...instead of opening the form I created. What am i doing wrong and how do I get the macro to open my form? If I open the form directly and enter the criteria, it runs the report correctly.
