Sep 24, 2006I have a form with bound textboxes used for entering currency values. When the form loads the fields are automatically populated with default values. When the user clicks on one of the fields, I would like to automatically select all of the data in the field, so as new values are entered, the defualt value is overwritten. I imagine that I should use the OnFocus property, but is there a command to highlight the data?

ID In Table When Selecting Text From Dropdown-menu
May 9, 2005Here's my problem:
I got a Table which contains software:
TblSoft:
ID |Software
-------------
1 |Office
2 |Winzip
3 |Etc.
I made a form with a dropdown-menu in which I can select the software and it stores it in another Table named TblPC.
It stores something allright. but not the text. It stores the ID Nr.
How do I get this to work that it puts the text inside the table instead off te ID nr?
I allready tried changing the properties off the listbox but it wouldn't help.

Enter Text Into A Numeric Field
May 14, 2005I use Access as my grading program at school. Right now, if I want to excuse a student for an assignment, I delete that record.
What I would like to do is put an "X" or some other string into a field that is numeric and Access would ignore that score when computing the average.
A longshot, but I thought I would ask.

Jul 16, 2007Hello, I'm working with SQL and databases in general for the first time, and was wondering: how would I select just the most recent entry for each device? my data looks [roughly] like this:
device1 data_1a 15.2.2000
device1 data_1b 15.2.2001
device1 data_1c 15.2.2002
device2 data_2a 15.2.2000
device3 data_3a 15.2.2001
device3 data_3b 15.2.2002
So what I'm looking for is:

Selecting A Field From A Popup Form To Be Populate Another Text Box
Apr 6, 2008I have a field on frmOutpatient which is called EpisodeID.
I need to populate this field from a selection in a pop-up form.
The pop-up form (frmSelect) is a continuous form with a number of different EpisodeID numbers according to the date the patient was admitted. At the end of each record I want to put a command button (cmdSelect) and when pushed I want this SelectEpisodeID to be transferred to the field on the frmOutpatient.
Any ideas??

Dec 6, 2005I have this database which has a comments field which often gets the same text added into it depending on what is in it. what I am trying to do is something similar to signiatures in outlook express.
What the end user wants to do is select from a dropdown box what text they want to add to the field and hit a button and it will insert it into the memo (comments) field in the form without overwriting any of the text they have in there already, they might want to just add one of the sentences or several.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might go about this?

Form Checkbox To Enter Text In A Table Column
Mar 29, 2006I have a column in a table that only is allowed one value, "Repealed" or simply left blank. I would like to have a checkbox on a form that enters the word "Repealed" or removes it depending on whether it's checked or not, rather than having the user enter the word "Repealed" each time.
Can anyone offer direction as to how to complete this? I've not had much experience with VB code.

Dec 31, 2013I have a report and within the report I have added some text boxes with some simple logic such as sum, count, etc. These text boxes function well as long as the logic is referencing existing fields. The minute I try to have a text box reference another text box I get the "Enter Parameter Value" box pop up. I don't understand this as the text box I am referencing has a vaule based on what it is referencing.
Example: 1st text box control source =Sum([existingfield]) I get a value.
2nd text box control source =[existingfield2]/[1st text box] I get "Enter Parameter Value" of 1st text box.
General :: Erasing Text From Textbox Upon Enter Without Deleting Variable Value
Mar 21, 2014I have a form that has a textbox in it. I enter text into the text box by scanning a bar code. I then use openreport.cmd to pass the variable in the text box to the report I generate. The report then has a button that when clicked references the variable that I passed to it.
Essentially the problem I am having is that when I set the textbox back to blank, it also erases the contents of the new variable created. I want to either delete the value from the textbox upon scanning the bar code each time, or highlight the value in the textbox for it to be deleted upon the first key stroke. I had read about setting focus to the textbox, but I have been unable to get that to work. Here is my current code for what I am doing.

Apr 8, 2006I'm using the "Value List" as the "Row Source Type" and data in the "Row Source" in a form. The data in the "Value List" is used in a "List Box" of this form. Also this form has a "Text Box" that is used for a date (in the "Short Date" format). When I select values from the "List Box", then enter a date in the "Text Box", the values from the "List Box" are unselected. How can I determine what is causing this ?

I have a small problem which I feel I should be able to solve but the hours of trying are proving me wrong!
From a choice of 16 events, competitors can enter as many as they like providing they are eligible. For each event they receive performance marks which are duly stored in a table. Some compete in 1 event others in 5 or 6. (I do not have a control showing ‘number of events entered’ and have tried several options, all unsuccessful, to create a ‘count’ of events entered. Is there a way?) My main problem is, from each individuals’ records, how do I select only the highest 3 marks from the classes each individual entered.
I’d be very grateful for any advice/guidance.
