Showing Field Dependent On Previous Field In A Form?

I have a table called welding, I want to create a user friendly form for input. The database ultimately wants to go on share point so I am building it in the web database option.

One of the fields is called location, if the location is 'Field' I want 10 more fields to appear for data entry such as weld reason, rail temperature etc . If the location is 'Depot' I want these fields to be hidden as they aren't relevant.how would I do this?

Form Field Dependent On Cbo

Is there a way to make a field on a form dependent on what the user selects from 2 other cbo? By that I mean I would want the user if they selected in cbo1 Easter and they select cbo2 Regional President in the form field I would want it to auto return the name John Smith because in my table he is the Eastern Regional President. I am not sure if I can do this by query or is there an easy way to do this?

I have my Assets form and the primary key is the ChargerID, in this form I have an "Add New Job For This Asset" button, which opens up the Jobs form at a new record.

How do I make it so that the ChargerID field is automatically filled with whatever the previous record was instead of being blank.

For example if I have Charger12345 open in the Asset form, I'd like to click the Add New Job button and it automatically have Charger12345 in the ChargerID field of the Jobs form.

Field Dependent On ComboBox For Data Entry Form

Hi,
I've got a data entry form where orders can be created. Within this form there is a ComboBox which is used to search for items and stores the selected item ID in the Order table. However the field for storing the Unit Price relating to the selected item is currently manually enterable. Where as I would like this to be dependent on the item selected within the ComboBox and updated automatically.

At the moment I've added an extra colum to the ComboBox to retrieve the relevant Unit Price and I can show this in a normal seperate text box using '=Combo27.Column(1)' as the ControlSource.

How can I get rid of the text box and incorporate the code into the current UnitPrice field so as it inserts the relevant record (price) into the UnitPrice coloumn of the Order table?

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I there a way to determine whether or not my checkbox within a form is ticked or not dependent on another value within a field?

I have a field called 'DaysRemaining' and another check box field called 'Expired'. I want the expired checkbox to be ticked if the value within 'DaysRemaining' is '<0' and unticked if '>=0'. Is there a way i can do this within the control source of my check box?

Rowsource Of Lookup Field Dependent On Field Value In Same Record In Subform

I want to create a different rowsource-query for a lookup field (field1) in each record in a subform. The rowsource changes dependent on the value in another field (field2) in the same record. How can this be done?

- I tried to change the rowsource-query in an eventmacro when the focus is set to field1, but this ofcourse changes the rowsource for all field1's and makes the allready selected values unvisible.
- I think I have to include the value of record 'field2' in the rowsource query, but i cannot find a way to include that value in the query.

Something like:

Lookup field1 in the subform contains this rowsource
- SELECT CUSTOMER.Id, CUSTOMER.AGE, CUSTOMER.NAME
FROM CUSTOMERS
WHERE (CUSTOMER.AGE= me![field2]);
me![field2] however does not function

Get Previous Field Value In A Query Without A Form

I have been looking at some of the solutions to the running sum problem.

The queries I use cannot use the primary key as there are gaps as some filtering has been done with an unmatched query to give me my sample dataset.

From this dataset I have a list of courses and the number of learning hours per each course. This is the field I would like to perform the running sum on.

Its a parameter query and the intention is to email the query the the various schools so no form was necessary.

The solution on microsofts web site wants me to use a form and I dont understand how it works anyway.

Is there a code solution that can use a recordset that doesnt rely on forms?

At present I am reliant on the date which does work but not where a student does two courses on the same day. The forums advice was to use the autonumber but there are gaps in that so that doesnt work. can I generate an autonumber on the fly as an expression and use that in the sub query method?
Fields:
[Date][Person Id][Course Code]
[Course Name][GLH][Running Total][UpliftCode]
[50%][Rule Broken]

what I have so far:

Accessing Field From Previous Form

I'm working with a form (MainF) ... which has a subform (MainSubF). The subform has buttons that link you to other forms. When you click on one of those buttons, I have a control number that links the two forms by putting a CTR field into the linked form with a ctr defaul that = forms!mainf!ctr.

My problem is that I'd like to use this subform on other forms. However, if I put the subform onto another form such as "MainTwo", none of the buttons on the subform will work because the path is now wrong. Is there a generic way to connect the buttons to whatever form the subform is attached to??

I've just returned to work after kids and started managing a large Access database related to health, back-tracking over many years.

Currently in filling a form we physically enter:
Apples 2.2
red apple 2.4
red apple cut 2.45
Oranges 5.6
Cucumbers 8.5

Is it possible to get field 2 to automatically fill with a number code due to the text typed in field 1?

FWIW, I'm confident at more basic Access e.g making follow on default value = Dlast("field""table") type stuff but the more complex stuff I haven't touched since Uni over a decade ago and you will need to be gentle while I blow away the cobwebs

Showing A Value If The Data In A Form Field = Something

I have a form field with a date in it, is there any way I can make the value in that field display one thing, but still run a query based on the original text?

for example:
txtDate is 1/1/1000
if txtDate = 1/1/1000 then display = "*"

but the query still runs on 1/1/1000

I am asking this because I am trying to run a between statement for a date range and the only way I can do the entire range of dates on my table is to use the highest and lowest date possible (1/1/1000 and 1/1/3000) but I only want the users to see "*" so they are not confused.

Calculating Field Based On Value Of Another Field In Previous Record

I'm trying to create something like an online banking view that shows the running balance as each transaction occurs. I have tblTransactions with fields AccountNumber, ItemDescription, and TransactionAmount. I'm trying to create something that shows these three fields and a fourth field with the running balance.

So if I initially deposit $100 it will show the first record with TransactionAmount = $100 and RunningBalance = $100. Then the next transaction will subtract the Transactionamount for the new record from the RunningBalance from the previous record to get the RunningBalance for the new record. So if I make a purchase for $2, the AvailableBalance for that record is $98. Is this possible with a query? Here's a picture to describe what I'm talking about ....

If I have a Form that is used to populate a Table can I make one field entry dependent upon another?

For example, if I have a field for Discipline (with values such as Mechanical, Electrical, Piping) and another field for Equipment Type (with values such as Motor, Gearbox, etc) can I set up the Form so that when I select Electrical for the Discipline, only electrical items (such as Motor) are available to select for the Equipment Type field?

Using the table below as an example, if I select Electrical for the Discipline field in my Form, when I go to select a value for the Equipment Type field the drop down shows only Motor and Fan?

Discipline
Equipment Type
Electrical
Motor
Electrical
Fan
Mechanical
Gearbox
Mechanical
Pump
Piping

Or, better still, can I set it up so that if I select Motor for the Equipment Type field, the Discipline field will automatically be populated with Electrical?

Auto Fill Form Field With Value From Previous Form

I've got one form that a user will start on, titled "Query Form" - Only one text box is here and it is titled "text0"

Upon hitting enter here, a new form is opened up titled "Time_IN_Form".

What I would like to do is have the value from text0 on the Query Form to automatically populate Emp_ID on Time_IN_Form so the user doesn't have to enter their employee number twice (only once via the first form).

What is the best way to do this? I have tried playing with global variables but didnt have any luck with that.

I am trying to run graph on a report from query but what's happening is query shows name but report on graph shows ID'S of the field .

Below is my query

Returning All Records If Dependent Field Is Null

Hi. I'm unable to work out how to set up a query which will filter records according to what is returned by one control, but will also list all records if the value of the control is null.

Situation: I have a CONSULTATION table linked many to many via a CONSULTATIONLIST relation table to an ADVISOR table. (An Advisor may be present in any number of Consultations, and a Consultation may include any number of Advisors.)

I have a CONSULTATIONMANAGE form enabling the user to select an Advisor from the table ADVISOR via a combo box called SELECTADVISOR which returns Advisor ID (adID).

My CONSULTATION form, displaying the list of consultation records, currently has, as record source, the following query:

SELECT Consultation.*, Advisor.adID
FROM Consultation INNER JOIN (Advisor INNER JOIN ConAdList ON Advisor.adID = ConAdList.adID) ON Consultation.conID = ConAdList.conID
WHERE (((Advisor.adID)=[Forms]![ConsultationManage]![selectadvisor]));

This query correctly lists only those Consultations in which the selected Advisor was present.

Problem: What I also need to do is show ALL Consultation records if the user does not select an Advisor from the combo box.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Record-Dependent Field Display In Same Report

so i'm trying to create a report that only displays certain fields per record based on another field in that record. To clarify: [Type] is a numeric field holding either 1, 2, or 3. I have a function that is instructed to display (ie, change from not visible to visible) a certain combination of fields depending on the number in [Type] when the form is opened. I assume I would have to go through all the records individually (do loop until), but i'm not sure if this works in a report.

is there any way to have different fields displayed for different records within the same report??

Added Fields To Table But Not Showing Up In Form Field List

I have a form based on a table and I just added 3 fields to the table. When I go to the form to add these fields, they do not show up in the field list. I've also tried creating a textbox and going to the Data Tab and choosing the data source but those 3 new fields are still not showing up.
How can I go about adding these 3 fields?

So far this does 2 things, it doesn't open any hyperlinks at all and continues to attempt to until the program is closed from task manager. Before I had this error it would open the hyperlink twice if the field does not contain "https" and the IF statement was passed to the 2nd option.

I was wondering if it is possible to determine weather to show a field based on the values from another field.

Field1, SHOW_Field1, Field2, SHOW_Field2
Field1 and Field are text, SHOW_Field1 and SHOW_Field2 are Boolean values

So if SHOW_Field1 is true, then show Field1 in the query else hide. I was wondering how to do this, I seem to not be able to do this for some reason.

Many of the purchase orders have a revision No against them, eg:-

Field Value Same As Previous Record

When I click my command button that says, "New Record", I want it to go to go to a new record and populate the field "Town" with the value in the previous record.

e.g. ClientID on last record is 150 and has Town="London". Click "New Record". New record created. Town field on ClientID 151 has Town="London".

How can I do this?
