Transfer Access Db From One Host To Another

Oct 1, 2005

Hi,

I am new to using access, and agreed to work on a site not designed by me.
We want to host this site elsewhere but I am having difficulties backing up the access database; I can't find a way to copy the stored procedures.

Is there a way to export or save the entire database, including the stored procedures? I suspect that this must be a very common task but I could not find any info on how to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Mukti

General :: Files Can't Be Uploaded To External Host Server

Apr 1, 2014

We have an Access frontend with a Sql back end on an external server in the cloud. One of the things I need to do is allow people to attach files/documents to a record. I have set this up okay with the document being copied and saved to a new location and the path string being associated with the record. This will only work for people in my office though. I need to enable people in other cities to be able to upload or view these documents. Each office has their own server.

My IT department said they had created a VPN for this. They gave me a web URL which enables me to log in to QNAP. From there I can click to open the 'file station' and use the 'folder window' that appears within the browser to click through to the relevant folder - and there are buttons for uploading and downloading documents.

I could try writing some code that will automate all these steps - maybe. I'd rather not, but I can't see any alternative. It looks like a real pain to go through the HTML elements (and I think there may be errors coming up about certificates)

The files can't be uploaded to the external host server the back-end is on incase any of the documents are confidential. They don't want it saved anywhere other than on their own servers.

General :: Using Dropbox To Host Front End / Back End Database

Sep 28, 2012

Using Dropbox to host a split database. Ulimately I would like to create a run version for users with the back end held in a drop box directory.

As an unsplit database everything is working fine on dropbox records are saved in a timely manner and great.

Once I split to FE /BE only some records are saved on the BE and some are dropped. Was getting conflicted copies of Back end but manged to stop this happening but the records were noit on either copy.

Gave each user their own FE (on a drop box directory) linking to a BE in a sub directory on the same dropbox.

The key issue is that not all users have access and I don't want them to get into code so want to aim towards a run version.

Transfer Spreadsheet Command Access 97

Jul 19, 2005

This problem seems crazy to me.......

If I create a macro with a single entry consisting of Transferspreadsheet from a single Access table to Excel it exports perfectly. When I call Transferspreadsheet from VBA code it moves some of the data and puts them into seemingly random Excel spreadsheet columns why is this?

This issue first came about when we had to export a table with more than 65,000 records in and so I export using a table name "Sheet1" , "Sheet2" as needed but surely the table name that it comes from makes no odds?

Any help appreciated!

Regards,

Neil

Access Record Transfer To Excel

Aug 8, 2006

Hey all,

Just a quick question to see if something is possible or not.

Basically i have a form which the users record errors which have happened with deliveries of our product and have to select the reason why this happened. What i have been asked to do is when the users are entering the reason 'incorrect address', they want to be able to click on a button and everything which they have entered for that record are appended to an excel spreadsheet. The are currently entering it twice...once in my database and once in a spreadsheet and they just want to reduce their workload.

This transfer of data is only needed when that specific reason is chosen from my combo box, no other reason. I don't have much knowledge of Excel, i was just wondering if this type of thing wa possible and if anyone could put me in the right direction. I have had a search for my problem, but havn't found anything similar to my pro. yet.

Xls- Transfer Access 2000 (sorting Problem)

Jun 1, 2007

Guys
I will have to do a xls workbook every month
what it is , is I have transactions that are in different currencies
Sterling , Dollar, Euro , South african Rands , etc
What I want to know is it possible to transfer out all transactions into a xls(yes) but to seperate out sterling into 1 sheet, dollars into another , etc
(still have not finished ) now we get into a tax problem

(I am in insurnace) so not only do I need these into sepearte sheets by currency, but also by tax as well
example

Sterling + insurnace tax 5%
Sterling + irish levy 2%
Sterling + tax n/a

then I might get
Dollar + insurance prem tax

etc

Ideally each should have its own sheet/tab

Now I am not at this stage yet - but is it do-able (abiout a week or so away)

Oct 7, 2014

Citrix, Access And A Transfer Spreadsheet Export Problem

Jan 18, 2006

Hi.

I developed a db on a local verison of Access 2003 (saved in Access 2000 format). It works great thanks to much help from this forum.

I recently moved the db to a server and tested how it worked when using Access 2000 on a citrix platform. This is important since the users of the db will be using this accursed platform. A few things (vba functions) broke but I deleted the affected code. However, one thing 'broke' that I can't eliminate.

When I click a button on one form I have a transfer spreadsheet command run to export the output of a query to a particular xls file/location. However, in the citrix environment I get an error message "Formats that enable export as html, xls, or rtf are missing from the windows registry".

I'm guessing this has something to do with the citrix server setup. Is there anything I can do on my end to avoid this problem or, as I fear, am I stuffed?

Cheers,
Craig

Transfer HTML That Has XLS File Format In Access 2010 Using VBA

Oct 20, 2015

I have a downtime system that was created by our IT department that records the downtime of the line stops, it has export to excel button that will export the downtime to excel based off the parameters of date and time. I want to do the export then import to access for downtime analysis. The problem I am having is the programmers export it as HTML with .xls file format. and the worksheet has a date associated with it as well as the spreadsheet has a tab that contains a date and I can't figure away to import to a fixed table. So I tried the transfer spreadsheet not knowing it was in HTML, couldn't recognize the format, then I tried transfer HTML, can't find the file because of .xls file format. I know I could re-save it as a excel file but was trying to keep the steps to a min. Is there a way to import even though it has a date attached to the file and spreadsheet tab.

Link/Transfer Data From Access 2000 To Excel 2000

Mar 27, 2006

If I have a report in MS Access 2000 generated based on the criteria selected of a project with work order "9999" with the labor costs, materials costs and the Totals of each crew1, crew2,... and I would like to have those expenditures populated in corresponding cel in Excel for each crew, HOW would I do it?

To think it out loud, could I create a button on a form, so when I select the criteria for the work order, and when I click the button, it should refresh/update the Exel file with the new data...?? How do I write VBA code for that...?

Please help...Thank you so much....

Transfer Of A Value

Jan 27, 2005

You'll have to forgive me I kinda new at this. I have a form with a non linked subform on it. The main form has one control on it called CustomerID, the subform's record source is from a select query that is updated by a cmdButton on the main form. The cmdButton runs an update query. One of the controls in the subform is called CustomerID, this control has no other purpose than to hold the same value that the main forms control (CustomerID) has. I want the cmdButton's OnClick event to transfer the value from the mainform CustomerID and place it into the subform CustomerID. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

How To Transfer Data

Sep 8, 2005

Hi there,

This is my problem i am going to try and explain myself as clearly as possiable hopefull you will be able to understand me.

When i enter my data bank through Access, a mask opens or is it a form i am not too sure but i have sent an attachment with the sceen image.

Lets say i am looking for the data of John. I click on search and i find him. Now my Mask or form has sub forms in them for diffent information, i have made a large red circle on the attached picture to show what exactly i am talking about. These sub folders contain information such as gernerall information, bussiness information etc.

All this information ... data is part of john 's dataset or data record. SO what i want to do is take his data all of it and send it to john himself and he then can edit it and send it back to me and i want to check it and if i am satisfied with the data i can update the new information automatically into my database. and i want to beable to edit it myself too. i want all his data to be like a data book of john. The editing can take place it any problem such as Accesss itself or word or excell i just wan to be able to edit and transfer my data without damaging or loosing information.

My probles are as follows:

1) how to send john's information all of it
2) how to add it back to my database both automacticly and manuelly
3) how to edit his data as a whole, not bits and pices. as if it was one long report.

Thanks i hope i was clear enough

Data Transfer

Jan 24, 2007

Evening Gents.

I've created a database which is going to need a fair amount of data uploading into it (a long laborious procedure).

My initial plan to cut the work load for one person was to create 2copies of the database and split the upload in half (get two people to do it).

However, one of my tables is a parent to around 4 childs, therefore when i copy the information from this parent table in datasheet view from one db to another, it doesnt transfer it's associated data.

Is there anyway to get around this? Any advice/tips/hints would be much appreciated

(hope this has made sense, please let me know if clarification is needed)

Transfer Database

Nov 29, 2007

Im stuck on a project that I have received help on before. I am trying to E-Mail a daily report created by a macro in Access 2000. It needs to go out as an excel spreadsheet, but in a format that can be opened in a Blackberry. The advise i was given was to use Transferdatabase. This is where i become unstuck. No matter what I type where i come unstuck. Is there anyone out there that can possibly advise me what to do in "idiot proof" steps?
Im afraid my knowledge of Access is limited to 2 weeks self taught knowhow ?

Transfer Data DB To DB

Dec 14, 2007

I need to set up an automated process to transfer data from about 25 tables from one database to another. This will happen on a weekly basis and I'm wondering what the best way to set this up is.

Both are Access 03 db files. The main database has data for a dozen or so clinics and I need to get the data for one clinic out and in to the the secondary db. The data in the secondary db will be replaced every week with fresh data from the main db. Once it is refreshed with new data the clinic will download the db from our site.

My first thought is to just export queries to CSV files and then import them in to the secondary db file. If run from a macro it could be a scheduled task. I could then import the CSV files. This could also be automated with a macro.

Any other ideas.

Transfer To New PC Gives OLE Error

Jun 5, 2006

I've transferred a database to a new PC, with Office 2002 installed.

The forms hold some text data and a photograph.

The database loads and displays correctly.

But I cannot add a new photograph. I get a message something like: Microsoft Access cannot get the OLE something-or-other. Sorry for the lack of detail, but I'm sending this from another PC.

Is there something (on Disc 2 of Office 2002?) that I need to install after I've installed Access & the rest of Office? Should I have opted for a full installation?

After much messing around, I got rid of this error - but still no photo. Instead, the filename of the photo is displayed in the window where the photo should be.

Please help!!!

Transfer Spreadsheet

Jul 27, 2007

I have a database scheduled to run nightly. In this database I have a macro that runs a macro. I want one of the arguments to export "T_Update_Log" from the database to an excel file as part of it's nightly macro. When I use "Transfer Spreadsheet" in my macro, it creates a new worksheet in my excel file each night (for example: T_Update_Log1, T_Update_Log2, etc) Instead, I want it to overwrite existing one.

I have also tried "Export" command, but that throws a prompt asking if I want to overwrite the existing excel file. I cannot have any message prompts during my nightly task or else it will stop the whole process. Setting the Warnings to No does not stop this particular message prompt.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Electronic Funds Transfer

Apr 27, 2005

A customer wants to do electronic funds transfer from an accounts receivable system that I wrote for them. The only information that I have gotten from their bank is that the data should be in ACH (automated clearinghouse) format. I have never dealt with this before, but I assumed that I would just have to output the data in probably an ASCII file. I have been searching the net, but have only seen software or services that handle this. I haven't found any definitive information on exactly what the details of ACH format are. I was also surprised not to find any threads here about this. I'm sure there are plenty of those who have already dealt with this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I am creating a Transport databse and got stuck into something.

I have created a master table " Vehicle Details " which inlcudes all the details of cars. Then i created two sub-tables " Vehicles in Garage" and " Vehicles assigned to Drivers". I will be using the forms ( ofcourse :) ) to enter and edit data. What now i want to do is from a master table i want to tranfer all details of a particular car either to " Vehicles in Garage" or " Vehicles assigned to drivers" tables/forms.

Is this possible ?

Thanks

P.S. I hope this is the right section for this .
