Please help. I have a command button that prints a report. I want to update the table with date&time when the report was printed. Seems simple enough but my programing skill was with Apple IIE and I use Access only with GUI. Thanks.
I am looking at a way that I can print a report then update a field called printed to "True". I've used the wizard to get the following code to print the report - can I just add a line before the ExitSub to update the "printed" field? If yes, can someone give me some code to start?

If anyone can i help i would greatly appreciate it. I am modifying a database at our work, which has a few forms which gives a nice summary of the current status. My upgrades to these forms included a record counter, and also a locking mechanism.
Both of these featues made use of the oncurrent() event of a form to update the view. The record counter will open a record set and display to the user a counter : RECORD x of y. The locking mechanism will lock any textboxes or controls with data in and also give them a different background colour.
My design works very well when you change between records on a form, but the moment you print the complete set of records , ie one per page, the status of the display stays the same.
The record counter freezes on the first count ,ie 1 of 39 , for all pages, and the background of the controls is not updated.
I think that an event to capture the print of each page will help, but i cant find anything to help me on that.

I have a print button on my form that prints inputs stored in a table. I saved my print setting so that all the columns fit into 1 page but when I go to print from my form it prints to two pages.
Is there any way to fix this????

Is there a way to print the schema of a table right out of Access?? Basically I just want to print out all the field names, data types and descriptions. When looking at the table in design view MS Access 2000 does not give you the option to 'Print'.
Any ideas?

a simple question: is it possible to print out the table structure in Access? The information I'm interested to print on paper is FieldName, DataType, maybe Format, Required and Description (or Caption). I may be asking something silly here but I really didn't find "how to" (tried to search both Help and Google...)

However as a natural habit people go to file > print to print which leads printing all records so 1000's records start printing. Is there any way i can hide print button. File >Print button.

I have two tables each containing fields Brand, Form, Area. Table 1 has some other information that needs to be gathered (data entry) and Table 2 is just a reference table for changes to these areas. This reference table has an additional field labeled area point value which is the value I want to "print".
The form is based off of Table 1 and has all of the fields I want the users to input. Stripped down, I have three combo boxes for the user to choose Brand, Form, and Area...I also have an unbound textbox control where I want the area point value to based off of the value of the three aforementioned boxes.. I believe this can be achieved with a lookup but I've never actually used a lookup in a control this complex before...

I am in the process of trying to merge two large databases. I have four tables that really should be one to work in the new DB. I just need to be able to print a list of fields in each table so that I can work on the new combined structure before making the changes. I know I can use the documenter but this produces a very comprehensive list which is much more than I need.
Is there anyway of producing a similar list without the detail, just showing the field names.

I have a database that has all the employees in my company with basic information. I have a auto number set up for each person. I also have on my form a subform with information about the employee's history in the company. I have bin trying for the last couple weeks, to put a button on my form, that will open up the custom report I made for the one employee, in print preview mode. Everything I have tried gives me a error. The main error I get is The database engine could not lock the table "EmployeeT" because it is already in use by another person or process. If I open the report by itself, then I get all my employees. I am looking to just open a single report from the form I am currently looking at.
I have 2 tables. One Named EmployeeT with all the employees basic information. I have a auto number with the field name EmployeeID. The 2nd table is called IncidentT, which has its own auto number, and records all the problem/incidents with the employee. For example, lates, if the did not show up, or cancelled out of that day, etc. I have the 2 tables sharing the EmployeeID, sharing the relationship. My main form, has a lot of my information and a subform, Like i said. what I try I can get rid of that error.
The only way I got it to work without the error, is when I go into properties and change the Record Set Type to Snapshot on both the form and subform. But then I can't edit the form or subform anymore.

I have an unbound form with an associated report. When the user hits the 'print' button on the form/screen, the report is launched in the background. In the On Load event of the report I populate the report fields from the forms field as so:

This works like a charm as long as I call the report in Print Preview mode (i.e. with acViewPreview). But if I send the report directly to the printer, none of the fields print.

When a company acquires another company, I need a method by which the acquired company's CompanyID (PK) can be updated to the new company's CompanyID (PK). I also need to be able to update all related CompanyIDs (FKs) to the new value in related tables.
In cases in which the new company does not have an existing record, there is no problem: the company name simply gets changed to the new company and the existing CompanyID is maintained. I then use an audit table and Track Changes function to keep track of the company name data and a union query to keep the old names in the selection lists.
The problem is when both companies already have existing records in the table.
So, let's say I have records for Company A and Company B. Company A merges with Company B and Company B is now the main record. What is the best, simplest and easiest way to update the CompanyID (PK) from A to B and change the CompanyID (FK) to the new value in all related tables?

I have data coming from design team in Database 1 and using form i want search data and assign the job to a person and store it in the database with his name. I have to do this because database from design team is read only.
The attached Access XP file demonstrates my problem. I've included a form to make testing easier.
Each record in the Projects table has one or more linked entries in the Keywordlink table, showing keywords that apply to that record. Each record in Projects has a Yes/No 'Utility' field.
A third table, Keywords, supplies the keywords that the user can apply to records in Projects, using the subform on the main form. The Keywords table also includes a True/False 'Utility' field. I have set this to True for for the first three keywords.
I need a query, a series of queries or some VB code that updates Projects_Utility for all records to True if and only if the record's linked entries in Keywordlink include all of the keywords for which Keywords_Utility is True (a boolean 'and', as opposed to an 'or'). Otherwise, Projects_Utility must be set to False.
In the attached file, with the current settings in the Keyword table, the 'GetSelectedProjects' query should then produce single-row listings for ClientA and ClientF.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me on this. I'm not a programmer, but I can manage a bit of VB code if I have to.
I'm using an UPDATE query to update records in one table (tblMain) from another table (tblTemp)
Here is my SQL :

However, it appears that in such situations, the record in tblMain has it's MainField2 value set to null / ZLS.
I've tried using LEFT JOIN and RIGHT JOIN and also tried WHERE clauses but the result is the same every time.

I am trying to work out how to automatically allocate the next unallocated code in the "codes" table to each record in the "order details" table when that order details record has a DiscountID of "92".
Order Details Table Fields and conditions/criteria:
ID - primary key
DiscountID - only when the DiscountID = 92
Voucher - only populated when Discount ID = 92
Codes table Fields and conditions/criteria:

code = text field with a code like "einstein01", "einstein02"

Is there a way to put the next available code into the order details record then mark that code as allocated in the codes table. Then, move on to the next order details record that has a discountID = 92, input the next unallocated code and mark that code etc. etc.
Ideally, I would like to do this to happen via an event when the Order forms button "Close" is clicked.
I have created a code below to test whether I can run a query and retrieve a data from an SQL server table. And so far I can return the result using a messagebox. but somehow I just don't know how to use this connection to update the table inside this access file. Basically I want to use this as a front end file. then when the form is open it will automatically update the table inside this access file and load the data to the combo box as a list.
