hi ,
i want to update the particular field of table1(whos form name is Form1) when some enters data into a particular field of Form2 of table2.
how is this possible through event builders?
suggest me some ideas.
I have an excel sheets with tables (Numbers). I have inserted this excel files into PPT. I have a button on my page. I have linked the PPT path to that buttom (using hyperlink). So, when I click the button the PPT which contains the excel charts is opening (this is good so far)The data in excel sheet is used by many people and they can change it.
When in Access the ppt is opened then it's showing the old data but not the new modified data. (We are right clicking on the ppt table and then updating the links)We just don't want to do that as we have lot of tables in PPT.when we open a ppt via access then it should automatically update itself in the backend and should open with the new values.
I have a table called Inventory (table1 - PK=INVID) that contains all inventory ID numbers and descriptions. I have another table called Inventory Transactions (table2 - FK=INVID) that gets updated through a form. When a new transaction is made in table2, I want the transaction amount to get added or subtracted to an OnHandQty field in table1. I tried having table2 (transaction table) as the main form and then table2 as the subform, but I couldn't get table2 to update.
I thank you in advance for considering this inquiry.
From within a Form.field (based on a master table query), I desire to trigger two events; one before update and one after update.
This function will serve to document specific form.field value changes to a "log" table for review prior to being committed back to the master table.
What I'm looking for are functions, which I can use in a Macro or VBA code to facilitate a field read and copy before change and a read and copy after change triggering.
in my form I created an unbound field with a requested combination, now how can I put those in a table field. in other words, how can I send the content of a form's unbound field to a field in the table?
Trying to run a query using criteria to populate the query by looking at information from a field on a form, if from is closed I need that criteria to look at the table and return all date in table.
Using Access 2010. Fairly new to automation and macros.I have two tables (tblProductReceived and tblBins) and a form (frmProductReceived).A field in tblBins corresponds to a location the bin is at (named BinLocationID) and the tblProductReceived table tracks product that a specific bin has received.
What I need is for the tblProductReceived field PRLocationID ([tblProductReceived].[PRLocationID]) to be automatically populated with where the bin is at ([tblBins].[BinLocationID]) when selecting a specific bin in the form (frmProductReceived).
I am creating a table which is called a New Connection Analysis from there I have created a form that is linked to the table. I the form I have created a combo box to show the different division e.g. Central, Western, Northern. Now the combo box is created but when I enter the data in the form once I select the division e.g. Central when I save it the data doesn't go to the Division list on the table.....How can that be fixed????
Help!! I have a form created on a query. I created a field to add up the cost of all components on the form and now I need to save it to a field in a table so that I can run a report (my invoice)! Any suggestions??
I have been reading various threads about this subject and I know that one shouldn't store a calculated field in a table.
I believe this may be an exception to the rule (but I could be wrong). I am making a pricing database that will use a few manual inputs and the rest of the fields will be calculations (gross/profit margin, expenses) based off these inputs. We need to have these calcuated fields stored because they are essential to the pricing decisions and we will have to go back and access these fields at a later time. Another reason for this is because there will be at least one report that will be used to compare prices and calculated fields associated to a certain product by company, program, item type, ect...
I have a table which has a form as a front end. One of the fields is for the date, I put the date in fill in the rest of the form and everthing is ok. Its then time to add more info to the database under the same date, so i put in the same date on the form but instead of adding onto the existing date field it creates a new row within the table. This means I have 2 rows within the table with the same date, and all i want is one date and you add onto that date range until the next day?
I have made a table and quered that table. I have a form that I designed and is working well. It updates the table like it is supposed to. The problem I have is when I go in and change the master table. I decided that instead of havinga field titled "Unlisted/Listed" I just made it Listed and you put a yes or no. But when I do that and go back to the form a box pops up asking for some value. How do I fix this? Thank you.
Given the firmname and textbox name is it possible to programmically get the fieldname and table name where the data for that control is held.
I can use .controlsource and .recordsource
But is possible that .controlsouce is an alias of the actual fieldname.
Similarly the recordsource could be a query, from that I want to get the actual table, complicated say if two tables in the query had a field with the same name (even if only one was referenced)
hi there I am having some difficulty with using Access (aren't we all?) ;-( I have a table with a the following fields: START_DATE, END_DATE, RENTAL_PERIOD, DAILY_COST & TOTAL_COST.
What I am tring to achieve is that when someone fills in the START_DATE, END_DATE & DAILY_COST fields (which update the table behind the form) that the form will take the END from the START and put the result into the RENTAL_PERIOD field and then multiply this by the DAILY_COST value to automatically fill in and display the TOTAL_COST field.
It must be simple but I just can't get it to work and it's stopping me from sleeping  I have found myself doing Access in my dreams which is not good!!
Any tips much appreciated - Thanks Mike
PS I have written 2 queries which will calculate this for me but dont seem to be able to action the queries from within the form (if that helps!)
I'm certain this question has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find it!
I have a form field called fldTitle, and want to ensure users write something that is meaningful by evaluating words within the title to a table of keywords (tblKeywords). I know how to write the IF/ENDIF and the other stuff required, but am struggling to find the right commands to do the comparision. Could someone help me out?
i have a form, which is based on query from multiple tables.. in this form i want to add a unbound textbox in the detail section.. whenever a user leaves this records, the system should insert a record in another table with values from this record including this field... how to do this?
the record is from a query where as the field is unbound, still we need to insert the values from record and this field at the same time into another table..
example: i have item master and item production table.... from joining these table i get a query which will give me item A and prod qty .. when i use this query as form datasource, the detail section has these two fields.. now i want to have an unbound field budget.. so i have the followig in detail sectin
item A production qty budget qty
when users enter values in budgetqty field and moves to next recod,, the system should insert into another table xyz values (itemA, production qty, budget Qty)
Client records from tblClient contain a field called Client_CID (Primary Key), as the Client ID. There are also fields Client_HIGH_FILE_NO, a numeric value of the last case number assigned to the specific client and Client_PREFIX that contain a unique three letter prefix that identifies the client.
Case records from tblCase contain a field called Case_CFN (Primary Key), as the Case File Number. tblCase also contains a field called Client_CID that contains the Client ID associated with the case (obtained from a combo box lookup from tblClient).
My form is frmCase bound to tblCase.
The Case_CFN is constructed by combining the value of the selected Client_CID’s Client_PREFIX with the value of Client_HIGH_FILE_NO plus 1.
I am constructing the Case_CFN on the before update event of the combo box for selecting the client. The resulting Case_CFN may appear as follows
ABC10001
Where Client_PREFIX = “ABC” and Client_HIGH_FILE_NO = 10000
Now, I need to increment Client_HIGH_FILE_NO in tblClient by 1, meaning I need to set the value of Client_HIGH_FILE_NO for the selected Client_CID to, in this example, to 10001.
Questions:
1) Is anyone familiar with this type of number scheme generally and if so any ideas?
2) Can anyone tell me how to update the value Client_HIGH_FILE_NO for the selected Client_CID?
I have a form which calculates alot of numbers. Im trying to figure out how to save the calculation to a table field. Is this possible? Can someone help me with a solution please
I'm creating a form for orders. In this form I use a combo box to select a product from a table called "Products". In this table there is also a second column with the "PricePerUnit" How can I insert the PricePerUnit from the table Products into the table Orders when I select a product with the combo box?
I am working on a shared database. There are two tables in the database.Table1 have all the employee personal information like employee ID, name, nationality, date of birth etc whereas Table2 have the salary information like Basic, HRA etc. The two tables are joined by Employee_ID field.
I have created two forms, Form1 is only based on Table1 whereas Form2 have fields from both Table1 & Table2. The issue is that if I use to enter the data using Form1, the employee_ID is not automatically updated in table2. On the other side If i use to enter a data by using Form2 then everything is working fine. Is there a way to update a field value which is not in form?
I have a table holding clients data, I need it to work out the age of someone when an application is made, which I would like to be stored on said table. I have two fields [DOB] and [signed date], which I have used created a query with and an (unbooud?) field called age at application with the expression =DateDiff("yyyy",[DOB],[Date signed])
This works fine when I run the query, but I am unsure of the new next step of how to commit it to the table and even if that's possible.Ideally I would like this to run behind a form maybe using some click event after the [signed date] field has been entered.
