Hi,I'm having a few problems with my forms saving things like £ signs.I'm trying to store all my data in plain text with-in a MS SQL 2000 database, but for some reason certain characters are being automatically removed. Is it possible to execute a stored procedure in one database, which thenitself executes a stored procedure from another database? We have decide tosplit our data into a tree structure (DB1) and data blobs (DB2) (we areusing MSDE and we have a 2gb limit with each DB so we've done it this wayfor that reason). I would like to, say, execute a stored procedure in DB1,passing in the data blob and other details, DB1 will create a tree node inDB1 and then add the blob record to DB2. DB1 will wrap in a transaction ofcourse, as will DB2 when it adds the blob. Is this possible?
How do I search for and print all stored procedure names in a particular database? I can use the following query to search and print out all table names in a database. I just need to figure out how to modify the code below to search for stored procedure names. Can anyone help me out? I have MSSQL 2005. On earlier versions of MSSQL saving a stored procedure wasn't a confusing action. However, every time I try to save my completed stored procedure (parsed successfully ) I'm prompted to save it as a query on the hard drive.

I executed the Form_Kimmel.vb and I got no errors. But I did not get the new values insterted in the table "Custermers" of Northwind database. Please help and tell me what I did wrong and how to correct this problem.
Hi I have an application that I have started to develop. I have successfully set the connection to open the SQL Server database that I created. When I first started on the program, I was able to create Table Adapters by dragging the tables or stored procedures onto the DataSet work surface and going through the configuration process. At one point, however, I stopped being able to see any of my stored procedures in the database view although they are there because when I go to create a new table adapter, I am able to right click and add the new adapter and find the stored procedure in the wizard.Is there any way I can reset this so that my stored procedures are visible again. I have tried refreshing to no avail - and I think this is creating problems in other parts of the application.Any help appreciate.Roger
Hello everyone,I face currently a problem where I could need some input for searchingthe source of the ProblemSystem: SQL Server 9.0I fill from Database A with triggers Database B, everything worksfine.On Database B there is a Stored Procedures that checks the records andadd additional information accordingly, this Stored Procedures isnormally called by the application on "update and insert" in theaccording table.When I try to call this Stored Procedures from the Database A, thetrigger does not work anymore, even if I do a try catch over the wholetrigger, he never reach the Catch and the insert I try to do there toget the error message.On both Databases the user, that is taken to execute the trigger isexistent and DB-Owner of both Databases.If I go and execute the Stored Procedures manually after an insert orupdate to Database B everything works fine.I also already tried to check on Database B if there is an insert orupdate from Database A and if, to execute the Stored Procedures, withthe same result, nothing and all happens anymore, neither update onDatabase A and also not on Database B.And also I cant catch the error as the Try/Catch is not working.Hope I could explain it understandable and maybe someone remembersalready having the same problem.Thanks & Best regardsPascal
I am wondering if there is a way to create a procedure in a logging database that can identify the source database from which it is invoked. DB_NAME() of course returns the name of the database in which the stored procedure exists. I could pass the database name as a parameter to the proc, just wondering if there is another way.
This is SQL 2005, I did look into the sys.dm_exec views but nothing seems to have a dbid reflecting the calling context.
I've never dealt with stored procedures much.. but i have a new database created.. imported the tables, but the stored procedures didnt get copied over..
Is there an easy way to export them.. perhaps to a .sql file ... then import them or run a script on the other database..
I have never done much with the query window before, so i'm not sure how to handle this.. as there are around 20 stored procedures that need imported..
I have a stored procedure that is located in one database and I would like to have it execute against a different database. My problem is when I go to execute it, it is still executing against the database it is stored in. Is it possible to tell this stored procedure when it runs to execute its code against this second database?

I have a stored procedure that calls a msdb stored procedure internally. I granted the login execute rights on the outer sproc but it still vomits when it tries to execute the inner. Says I don't have the privileges, which makes sense.
How can I grant permissions to a login to execute msdb.dbo.sp_update_schedule()? Or is there a way I can impersonate the sysadmin user for the call by using Execute As sysadmin some how?
We have been asked to look into using stored procedures with SQL Server 7.0 as a way to speed up a clients site. 99% of all the articles I have read along with all the books all say Stored Procedure should be used whenever possible as opposed to putting the SQL in your ASP script. However one of my colleagues has been speaking to Microsoft and they said that that they were surprised that our client wanted to use Stored Procedures as this was the old method of database access and that now he should really consider using COM objects for data access as itis much faster. Has anyone got any views on this or know of any good aticles regarding this matter ?
Hi, I have a set of databases. Each user had his own database. Every database had the same stored procedures. The is one "admin" database where content about these users is stored. When I want to update or change a stored procedure I have to update it in every database. Therefore I want to put the stored procedures in the "admin" database. From there I have to access the databases of the user. I want to send the database name as a parameter. How can I change de database which te procedure should access? If I use the "use" statement I complains about that I can't use that command in a stored procedure. I've tried this method too: SELECT * FROM @databasename.dbo.tblname but that's not accepted too. Does anybody know how to select another database in the stored procedure?

Hi, I want to view the images that are stored in a sql database. I am using VS2005. When I open server explorer and drill down to the dbase tables and the click on the show table data option the table is displayed in a new window. when I open a table that stores images only a tag saying that the cell contains binary data is displayed. There doesn't seem to be any way to display the actual image and therefore edit the image. I can manipulate textual data directly in the database table...how do I edit graphics? Thanks!
Hi there I'm using VS2005 (VB.net) and SQL 2005. We've uploaded files from the web application to the SQL database. The next thing I want to be able to do is to retrieve this uploaded file(s) from the database and attach it in the email when the user click on the Submit button on the web form. I have a set of stored procedures copied into several databases (similar table structures but different data). I would like to avoid maintaining so many versions of the same procedures, so want to put the stored procs in a common database and execute it from there, e.g. exec common_db..the_procedure However, when you do that, the procedure executes in the context of common_db, not in the context of the calling proc's database. Is there a way of calling a procedure so that the calling proc's context is used?
