When I start the SQL SQL Server Management studio, I always the the a message box with the message , "Configuring the Environment for first time use, this may take a few minutes". This is only happening on one lap top. SQL express and Sql standard are installed on the box. I have uninstall and reinstalled the tools, but the problem persist.

I had SQl Express version installed previously and everything worked. I could connect to one server running SQL Express and a different server running full up SQL 2005 enterprise version.
I uninstalled All SQL express programs and installed tools from SQL 2005 developer.
I have rebooted, started the program directly (not using a link of any kind) and all attempts fail. After dismissing the error msg the tool opens and I can run queries agains the DB but the database engines and related tables do not show.
My work station is Windows XP with SP2 installed.
I have googled the problem extensively and tried solutions found but none have solved the problem.
Hi, I started getting a delay when I try to connect to a SQL Server 2005 server from Management Studio. I get a little pop-up from the quick launch telling me : Is Busy. SQL Server Management is waiting for an internal operation to complete. If you encounter this problem... report it to Microsoft. Has anybody experienced anything similar? If so, have you been able to fix it and how? Thanks in advance
I have installed multiple instances of SSRS on same server with different database. I can go to the report server URL for both SSRS and run reports. But I cannot connect to the 2nd instance through "SQL Server Management Studio". Also I am getting following error when I try to connect to the "Reporting services configuration" tool from a remote machine

I am new to visual studio and I am still not sure of all its components and features.
I installed visual studio 2005 standard edition but cannot find SQL Server Management Studio?
I guess this must be because it is not included with Visual studio 2005 standard. Is it included with VS 2005 professional?
I want to add pictures of products to my shopping site using an SQL database and I’ve been told that SQL Server Management studio is required as it is a graphical tool.
How would I go about obtaining the SQL server management studio. There seems to be different versions of SQL server that it is confusing to know which one to purchase.
Will the SQL server 2005 version that comes with Visual studio standard be sufficient for me now right? I want to create a shopping site with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of products. I want to use an SQL server 2005 database. The database will include ‘dynamically generated’ product images if that is the correct terminology.
My goodness, it seems I still have so much to learn.
I currently have SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005 and would like to upgrade my machine to SQL Developer 2005 as easily as possible. Keeping my databases and such.
Any recommendations on the best way to do this would be greatly appreciated.
I have some SQL CE database .sdf file on my handheld, and I was trying to connect to that file via SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, and it does not work. I am wondering if there is any good tool that I can use on desktop to connect to sqlce .sdf database file on my handheld?
Is it possible to install the management studio on a workstation? I am running SQL Server 2005 on a server and would like to be able to access management studio without having to log onto the server--just like I can do with Exchange System Manager.
I haven't been able to find anything out there on this. I'm probably just looking in the wrong places.

I have created two instaces on the Database Engine and have managed to also create a linkedserver between the two instances.
Now I'm trying to query two tables from both instances and I'm getting a collation conflict error. I tried to change this on the Database's propertry to match the other one, but still getting an error, see below:-

In Enterprise Manager, (in Management| SQL Agent| Jobs) you are provided with a great view on the right pane showing many details of all the SQL Agent jobs on the server. This includes, whether it's enabled, scheduled, running, when it last run and when it will next run.
Is there any way to obtain a similar overview of SQL Agent jobs in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio?
I just installed SQL Server Developer 2005 but Management Studio is not available in the Start menu. Can someone tell me how to install it? Can someone tell me what I did wrong in the installastion?
There are four limitations or apparent bugs I have experienced in 2005MS. Two I know are for real. Two real limitations/bugs --1. Can't edit table-valued function.2. Can't get nulls to be missing (blank) in text output paneTwo more I just encountered, and am wondering about --3. DB->All Tasks->Import Data->Load CSV file (exported from Excel) ->garbled table as some rows end up being extra columns. The samespreadsheets load okay from XLS format.Table should have shape A, instead has shape B:A B|...| |...||...| |...||...| |......||...| |......||...| |...||...||...|4. SET NOCOUNT OFF has no effect after SET NOCOUNT ONIs there a way to work around these, or are they real bugs?
just now i've installed SQL SERVER 2005 Management studio. i was throwed by an error when i started to run this Management Tool or EXE. the error was as follows:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. cannot create a stable subkey under a volatile parent key."
what i've to do now?
the below lines are displayed when i clicked the "Details" button:

i would like to ask if there is a way to FILTER THE IPADDRESSES of users who wants to login the SQL Server Management Studio. right now, we are using Enterprise Edition of SQL Server 2005.
i just want to limit the users who can log in at Management Studio, the users know the password of SA, and i can't change the password coz we have deployed the programs with odbc connection using SA. so i thought of filtering the ipaddress of computers i want to grant access to SQL Server Management Studio, if its possible.
I installed enterprise sql server 2005, sql server 2005 backward compatibility, aql server 2005 mobile(ENU) deverloper tools on the window XP. How to install 2005 management studio in this same machine?
I am getting the following error when I try to start SQL 2005 Management Studio to manage my SQL Server : Cannot load the DLL xpstar.dll, or one of the DLLs it references. Reason: 126(The specified module could not be found.).
I am having problems connecting to my SQL Server instance with Management Studio; basically the setup is as follows;
*Single server running windows 2003 enterprise - in a workgroup not domain *SQL Server is installed on this machine *When I try and connect from the same machine using its own IP address and Windows authentication I get the 18452 error "login failed for {NULL} user"
I am testing it like this because Sharepoint is failing in configuration wizard because it is connecting the same way - at least the login failure audit logs say the same.
I'm trying to apply some security to my database, so i've created a role, added my user to the role and then set the security rights for the role. Everything work great, the security right behave exactly as defined....However, when I go back the the Permissions pages, the values that i've already set don't appear in the lists (the all still work). In Fact they don't show up anywhere either in the permissions for the table / sp concerned or the right for the user or role.Is it just me, or is it a problem with SQL 2005 Management Studio? or can anybody suggest a way of finding the securty rights of any given database object?Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 9.00.1116.00RegardsGary T
I am just starting to learn SQL 2005 Express. After opening the Management Studio Express, I right Click on the Databases node and create new database. then create a name etc. The problem is that when I click ok to create the new database, I get a warning saying that Input a filename. However when I click on filename (after filepath) it is greyed out and I cant add a filename.
Found some bad behavior in the 2005 Management Studio Import and Export Wizard.
In the Select Source Tables and Views box, I selected multiple objects, and then clicked Edit Mappings.
The Transfer Settings dialog box appears, and states: "Define the settings that can be applied to all selected table transfers." I selected the "Delete rows in existing destination tables" option to overwrite the existing data. But Management Studio DID NOT DELETE THE ROWS IN THE EXISTING TABLES. Instead, the records were appended to existing data, wreaking havoc on our month-end accounting system. This happened multiple times, and occured even though the final screen confirmed that existing records would be deleted in each of the individual tables.
Is there any way to have the results pane auto hide ? Im lazy and dont want to manually (ctl-R) hide each time i run something, then starting writing code again
I have just downloaded VB Express, that comes with SQL Express
In order to manage and use SQL databases it seems I have to use SQL Studio Mgt Tool. But, where is it? I can only see Configuration Tools, but not any Mgt tool or DB Engine......
I handle all licensing for our companies. I am trying to completely understand the licensing and want to insure if I approve the installation of Mgmt Studio 2005, that it is covered by SQL Developer licenses?
Every time I try to remove 'condensed type' from the custom table view (working in database diagrams) the MSE crashes on me, as soon as I push the < button to remove it from the list of columns.
Is there a forum or place to post such a bug, or someone to send full details to? When it dies, it doesn't give me an option to send the information to MS.
