I dont know how this happened but my (local) SQL Server wont start. I cant access any of the databases. I just get this error:
'A connection could not be established to (local).
Reason: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
ConnectionOpen (Connect())
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties (by right-clicking on the (local) node) and try again.'
If I go to check the properties I get the same error. Im completely locked out. I looked at the folder and the database files are there, but I cant get to them through Enterprise Manager.
I have no idea how this problem could have happened. It just seemed to have stopped working. All my other databases can be reached (they are external). Could this be a virus or something? Can someone help me out on this one? I dont have a clue what the problem is, much less how to fix it.
I tried to deploy reports on locahost. Yet, I still need to start the mssqlserver service on local computer. I tried all the possibilities shown from the help but still i can't have it started. How will i start mssqlserver service on local computer alone?
Hello, PLEASE Help me.I have just installed the Quick Starts on my local machine, and it mentions that you will need a new instance of SQL called (local)/NetSDK.I already have the MS Personal Edition and the tutorials say to download the MS Desktop Engine. So what do i need to do in order to get teh Quick Start samples to work locally???Can i not just use my own instance and use the Grocer and other Databases there???Please Help
I've opened port 1433 in the Config Manager (error: The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion.)
My Shared Memory Protocol is enabled, I've confirmed that the Server is allowed in Windows Firewall, I've configured the SQL Server to allow remote connections, I've started the SQL Browser with success....
I also receive the error message that (The MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS service on .... started and then stopped (Object Explorer)).
I uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server Express 2012 and get the following failures:
Database Engine Services SQL Server Replication
I think this the the core of my issue. how to remedy this?
I am new to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and I€™m having problems starting the service. I am running a Windows XP SP2 with SQL Server 2005 and reporting services but the service will not start. My SQL Server instance logs on using €˜Windows Authentication€™ using a username sysadm with no password
I have installed IIS and made sure that ASP.net is running.
I have opened up the Report Services Configuration Manager and amended the settings but I€™m unable to get the service started!!!
Theses are my settings
i) Report Server Virtual Directory OK Name: ReportServer1 Website: Default Web Site
ii) Report Manager Virtual Directory Name: Reports1 Website: Default Web Site
iii) Windows Service Identity Service name: ReportServer Service Account: NT AuthorityLocal Service
Iv Web Service Identity (NOT WORKING)
v) Database Setup Servername €“ Nameofmyserver Database name - ReportServer1 Credential Type Server Credentials
When I click on start no error message appears, it just seems to time out.
I am facing a problem in connecting to the local database with server name as (local).
I have installed SQL Server 2005 in my machine. When I try to connect to the SQL server with the server name as SUNILKUMAR I am able to connect but when I try to connect to the same server with the server name as (local) I am not able to connect. SUNILKUMAR is my machine name and SQL server is running locally.
if anyone can help me what is the problem in this case it is highly appriciated.
My goal is to develop the system on a windows application and pda
There is a central server which will create a publication called inventory
The laptops which host the windows application will be subscribers to the central server using merge replication
The client now wants the PDA using SQL Mobile to synchronize with the local subscirber database on the laptop using active sync. They dont want to do it via WIFI to the IIS Server at the central server
I have been reading for days and I am still unsure whether this is possible to do.
I know Appforge provide a conduit for palm to access synchronization but not local sql databases
Being a very novice SQL Server administrator, I need to ask the experts a question.
How do I go about moving a database from 1 drive to another? The source drive (C is local to the server, but the target drive (E is on a Storage Area Network (SAN), although it is still a local drive for the server. I want to move the database from C: to E:. Can someone provide me with instructions?
I have database on localhost and i want to show this data on my website. I want to create a database online and want to sync with Local Host. Can it be possible syncing data automatically after some interval?
I am trying to use the Import Wizard to setup a daily job to import new records based on an ID field (PK). The source database is remote and a replica. I am inserting new records to update my table called the same thing. Both are SQL Native Client
Code Snippet select * from [CommWireless].[dbo].[iQclerk_SaleInvoicesAndProducts] as S1 join [IQ_REPLICA].[dbo].[iQclerk_SaleInvoicesAndProducts] as S2 on S1.SaleInvoiceID = S2.SaleInvoiceID where S1.SaleInvoiceID > S2.SaleInvoiceID
When I parse the query, I keep getting an error message.
Deferred prepare could not be completed. Statement(s) could not be prepared. Invalid object name 'IQ_REPLICA.dbo.iQ_SaleInvoicesAndProducts'. (Microsoft SQL Native Client)
Anyone know an easy why to get this to work? Or should I add a create table to verify new records?
I'm using SQL Server Management Studio Express and I'm trying to figure out how to copy a table(s) from my local database to my web hosting database. I know how to do it in 2000, but it's completely different now. Is this feature not allowed on SSMSE? If so, then how do I deploy database tables to a web host? Also, how do you add local database(s) to SSMSE? I tried to use 'attach database' in SSMSE and it wouldn't allow me to navigate to My Documents folder where the database resides. Thanks...
I have my first small SQl Server 2005 database developed on my localserver and I have also its equivalent as an online database.I wish to update the local database (using and asp.net interface) andthen to upload the data (at least the amended data, but given thesmall size all data should be no trouble) to the online database.I think replication is the straight answer but I have no experience ofthis and I am wondering what else I might use which might be lesscomplicated. One solution is DTS (using SQL 2000 terms) but i am notsure if I can set this up (1) to overwrite existing tables and (2) notto seemingly remove identity attributes from fields set as identities.I know there are other possibilities but I would be glad of advice asto the likely best method for a small database updated perhaps onceweekly or at less frequent intervals,Best wishes, John Morgan
We have a SQLSERVER database that is replicated to many users. We are currently in an expansion phase where we need to make changesto the server database. Each time we rollout a new release, we aredeleting the local replicating database and recreating. Is there any way to automatically transfer the changes from the serverto existing local database without deleting?
How do I insert data that I have collected in a local database onto a table on my online ie hosted database which is on a different server?
At the moment I am just uploading all the data to the hosted DB but this is wasting bandwith as only a small percentage of data is actually selected and used.
I thought that if i used a local DB and then update the table on my hosted DB this would be much more efficient, but I am not sure how to write the SQL code to do this!
Scenario: In general user will take database backup from database server to local system. User perform some changes to his local database based on his requirement. Again user connects to database server and click on update, local database should update to server database by informing each record status to the user. ex: record 1 updated / call closed do you want to update?
Here local database is going to be Pocket pc database and server database is on SQLDatabase. Can any one suggest best way to implement this feature in Windows Pocket pc, c#. I would appreciate your reply.
I use this way to call my connecting string , but I can't connect to my local DataBase , I trid to modify the propetry.config to coneect to other DataBase on other Server it works only when Connecting with my Local DataBase , it not work...
this problem have been troble me more than 3 weeks... ask many people no one can resolve this problem... when I am at home . I can't work... because I can't connect to the Server when I'm in office..

I have installed SQL Sever 2000 on my Windows XP Pro machine from theEnterprise Edition setup and it prompts you that only the client toolscan be installed. I wanted to have a local database as well So whatinstall should I have used to do so. Any information would greatly beappreciated.
I have a bunch of reports that I need to display. I've designed the reports using the Report Designer. Basically what I want to happen is to view the reports in local mode with the report viewer, but have them hit the database to get the values. I've designed them all with the database, I just don't want to go through all the hassle of setting up a report server. Plus, I've got a demo later this week so time is kind of a factor. Is what I'm trying to do possible? I really need help as the demo is this week
I have SQL Server Management Studio. I can access some databases to which I have been given access to. How can I create a sample database to which I can upload excel files as data fields.
This is for testing purposes. Any help appreciated.
I have SQL database hosted by my ISP. Every now and again we log on and create new tables using user XXX1. After getting a backup of the database, I have restored it on my local machine. When running the application on local, I get an error because there is a new user in database called XXX1.
I would like to change the user from XXX1 to dbo on my local machine for all tables, stored procedures and views. How do I do this easily?
I am running Web Matrix version 0.5, .Net version 1.1 on a computer with XP Pro.
Web Matrix works fine and returns forms properly. I installed MSDE from the website (SQL2KDeskSP3a.exe) I believe that SQL Server IS running, because I see the tower icon with a green arrow; when I double-click that I get a message that it is running SQL Server.
When I click the "data" tab in Web Matrix I get the blank workspace. Then I click the New Connection icon at the top left, which opens up a dialog box. I change "Windows Authentication" to "SQL Authentication." That opens up the Username/Password prompt. I am entering "sa" for the username (I AM NOT SURE IF THAT IS CORRECT) and "**secret**" for the password (that's what I entered in the command prompt when I setup the MSDE). Then I click "Create a New Database." I am asked to enter a name. After a pause, I get an error message: "Unable to connect to the database server. SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Connection Open (Connect ( )). OK
I've search this forum and the web - tried this with and without sqlagent running and it always fails:
alter database dbname set enable_broker
I believe there are messages in queues somewhere, but have no idea how to see if and how many there are. Maybe the broker for this database can't be enabled with too many messages in the queue?
I found code on here that was supposed to clear all message queues, but it never completes.
Anyway...someone else designed this entire system and I have no knowledge of the service broker.
I am trying to restore SQL2K DB backup to SQL2005 Express. The process goes fine, but at the end of the process (100% progress), it shows error Restore Could not start database.
It does not provide more detail to remedy the error.
Hello, I need help with the setup of my sql server express 2005 and more specifically, with the location of the database files. Normally, database files are located on the c: drive. In my situation, being in a high school environnement, I need to have the database files on the network drive ... lets call it g:drive. The reason why it cannot be on c:drive is because this drive is protected using DeepFreeze. Now, I was able to change the location of the new drive as I went into the properties window of the sql server instance but when I try to create this new database, sql gives me grief ;-| I am from the group of people that thinks that to anything, there is a solution and am hoping that to this problem, there is hope of a solution. Can anyone help? Thank you
I have a local SQL Server database installed with Visual Studio .NET. I'm trying to create a SQL Server login ID to access a database on this local database. I gave it access to all of the databases with public (the one I'm using it also has DBO and execute permissions on all procs). When I try to login to it through SQL Server Query Analyzer (and also using an ASP.NET application), I get the following error:
Login failed for 'dbuser'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
How do I set up a SQL Server login to access the database?
I have an installation script and want to create a database based on some data in a table (config). Testing the script though I get a message:
Msg 170, Level 15, State 1 Line 12: Incorrect syntax near '@DBData'.
The relevant sql is:
declare @DBName varchar (40) declare @DBData varchar (40) declare @DBLog varchar (40) declare @DBSize int select @DBName = obj_txt from config where obj_nm='DBName' select @DBData = @DBName + '_Data' select @DBLog = @DBName + '_Log' select @DBSize = obj_int from config where obj_nm='DBSize' raiserror('Creating Database %s ....',0,1,@DBName) with nowait
Create Database @DBName on @DBData = @DBSize Log on @DBLog = @DBSize
I don't think there's anything wrong, apart from the fact I am using the local variables. Is this allowed on a Create Database statement? I haven't found anything in Technet that may help.
I have a bak file backup of my database which is a database backup done via SSMS 2008.I have imported this bak file to SSMS 2014 and working currently.
