I have my database on four different database servers. I have a web appliction using asp.net 2.0. i want to add data to all four database servers. How can i do that with asp.net 2.0

I designed the AlwaysOn wrong, but every time we fail over from primary server to another server, my applications cannot connect because the sql logins cannot connect to their default databases. Once I run the command to link the login with the user in the default database then the users are able to connect. Did I do something wrong when designing AlwaysOn?

Hi all - I may be showing my ignorance here but I am in desparate need for some help on restoring my databases. Is there a way to restore/import/recreate a database directly from the .mdf/.ldf files. What has happened it that my hard drive containing my SQL data crashed and cannot be recovered. The only backup that I have of my SQL data is a direct copy of my entire DATA directory from the now ruined SQL install. I need to be able to restore those .mdf and .ldf files into a new instance of SQL. Is there a way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i want to make a relation betwen one of my tables and the user tables (to take it's unique ID), if there isn't any methode to do that without using the two databases(ASPNETDB - automaticly created when a user registers, and MyData), how can i connect to both databases? here is my connection string, but what should i do?<connectionStrings>

Hi, If you have 2 databases with the exact same table columns, and in the first database in a table column the indentidy seed starts at 1 and finishes at 32,000 can you attatch a second database so that the indentity starts at 32,001and carries on. What happens if you create a site and run out of disk space and need to attach another database which is located on another server??? I am really confused about this.Hope someone can give some links to some articles about this as I can't find any information about it.How can this be done? Thanks

I have a problem connecting to two mssql databases to select data in one php script.
- I made two different include file to connect to the two db's
- in the php script I include both files
- my first select statement look as follows:

I have publisher and distributor, both on SQL 2005. I need to re configure replication. When I try to create publisher, the wizard gives me an option to give password to connect to Distributor. Even after resetting this password on the distributor server, publisher still gives me the following error.
SQL Server could not connect to the Distributor with the specified password. SQL Server Error 21670.

It is posible with Entreprise Library to use the SAME QUERY, by example,
"Select isnull(Val,33) from calculs where Col1 is not null" (specific for Sql Server)
to select data from Oracle too ? or the only way is to use specific stored procedures (queries)

I am trying to set up a new sql server registration to my local computer.
and there's this error - "General Network Error,Check your network documentation.ConnectionOpen(Connect()).
I have already tried to register the server(the available servers field)
are entered as my computer name,local IP address,(local),"."(ignore the double quote), and even 127.0.0.1,but the same error occured.
When i first installed it into my computer, it work for a while, but ultimately MSSQLServer and SQLServerAgent service stopped even though the MSDTC service is still running
For ur info, the installed software is MSSQL7 7.0 Desktop Edition, in Windows 98 Platform

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my IPAQ, I have been using SQL CE for databases with various sizes without any problem. I am creating the databases on my desktop using VS 2005. After I moved to VISTA, I have upgraded my VS 2005 to SP1 and SQL CE to 3.1. My databases which were created before worked without any problem. After I have created my databases via 3.1 on the desktop and moved them to Mobile, I had problems.
1. I specify Max database size parameter as the size of the database
2. If the size of the database is smaller than 16 then I specify 128
3. If the database is old version then program runs without any problems whatever the database size is
4. If the database is created with 3.1 and size is small (20MB, 60MB, etc) no problems arise
5. İf the databse is created with 3.1 and size is large (133MB, 174MB) then dbconnection.Open() command runs indefinitely and program hangs up .
My IPAQ runs "Microsoft Pocket PC Version 4.20.1081" and desktop runs VISTA Home Premium. I have installed VS 2005 SP1.

I am using VS .net 2005 to develop a web application with sql server 2000, but the SQL servrer 2000 is setup on other computer,so, my web server is setup on A machine and SQL servr is setup on B machine.I got a problem when i try to connect to SQL server through the Web form as following error."An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. I had try to setup the MDAC 2.8 on my Web Server, but i got a setup error sth like "MDAC 2.8 cannot install on your machine because it is not support your windows version.........."

I need to create a new table on a SQL Server 2005 Database, but the data needed for the table is kept in different databases on different servers.
Half the data is on the SQL 2005 database, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem, but the other half is on a SQL Express database on a different server, is it possible to write a T-SQL query to retrieve this data on the other server?
Normally I use a create table + insert into kind of query to create custom tables but I don't know how to connect to the SQL Express server/database using T-SQL (if it's possible at all?) to do this.
Any tips, hints, ideas very welcome. Please use small words and short sentences.

I don't know if this is the right forum to post this question, but here it goes.
We have restored into sql 2005 the database backups made in sql 2000. We connect with trusted connection and application roles, and when trying to execute a transaction to another database (with the guest user), we get a permission error.
Does anyone know if, apart from restoring the databases, we should do something else to get the guest user working the same way as with sql 2000 in the restored databases?

We use windows NT authentication. We did not do any change on NT. The SQL Server daily schedule job usally stoped at 10:00AM, but today from the Window NT Task Manager, we can see that the SQL Server is still running untill now.

Dear Readers,Is it possible, like in Access, to link to tables in other SQL databases that are on the same server? I have a query that I originally had in Access that queered from multiply databases. hi, I have settup up sql mail and did the following:
1. created an E-mail account and configured Out look by creating a pop3 mail profile. tested it by sending and receiving mail, that is ook
2. I Created one domain account for MSsqlserver and Sql Agent service. both services use same account and start automatically in the control panel-services
3. I used the profile that I created in outlook to test the sql mail but got an error:
Error 22030 : A MAPI error ( error number:273) occurred: MapiLogon Ex Failed due to MAPI
Error 273: MAPI Logon Failed
I really do not know what went wrong. I followed the steps from bol and still having a problem. Am I missing something.
I do have a valid email account
I do have a valid domain account
I tested outlook using the email account and it worked. so why sql server does not recognise MAPI.
My next question, How to configure MAPI in Sql server if what I did was wrong.
Hi, I have 2 windows 2000 server in cluster with sql server 2000 enterprise edition installed.
I have activated the Server-Requested Encryption by using the sql server network utility (Force Protocol Encryption). After this, I have stoped sql server service. But I can't start it at this moment.
The error is:
19015: The encrypton is required but no available certificat has been found.
Please help me to start sql server.

I am facing a huge problem in my sql server database using access as a front end.The main problem is trying to execute queries "views" ,since they reside on sql server now,and using variables or parameters in reports and forms to filter on this query.
Ex.
how can the following be implemented using the same query but in sql server?

I try to import my SSIS packages which are created using the Business Intelligent studio into SQL server 2005 but I cannot do that.
I am running SQL server 2005 enterprise edition.
Also when i tried to connect to Integration services using Object explorer, it only prompt me for server name. I cannot change the username and password which is disabled.
Then how am i supposed to connect to Integration services on a server in this case?
I'm having a problem connecting with a Java application but I CAN connect using my .Net application - the user name and password are the same for both (using the same database on SQL Server Express 2005).
The error I get is: "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "CORNERS" requested by the login. The login failed." An interesing note - I get the same message if the database is not running.
SQL Server Express 2005 is installed in mixed mode.
Here is my connection string in the .Net appplication: <add key="connectString" value="Server=(local);UID=sa;PWD=myPasswd;Database=CORNERS" />.

I just restored my SQL server 2000 database on the SQL server 2005. after this i ran the Service broker sample ("Hello World") on this database by changing the AdventureWorks name to the new database name. The "setup.sql" runs fine. When i run the "SendMessage.sql" i was not getting any rows in the output (The message was not getting inserted into the queue). I checked the Service broker is enabled on this databased using the query "select is_broker_enabled from sys.databases where name = 'newdbname' " It was 1. I even tried the ALTER DATABASE SET ENABLE_BROKER. but it didnt work.
When i tried the sample on a newly created database it worked fine.
Is there any solution to make the restored database to work for service broker.

I have created a site which now has two databases. Firstly is the ASPNETDB.MDF which I beleives get set to manage the security, logon/Roles that I have on my site. The second dataabase "MyDatabase" is one that I have created for all my data withing the site. I would like to combine this to one Database for simplicity and cost. Now I can't see the ASPNETDB.MDF when I use SQL Manager 2005 and I can't see how to change the set up of ASP.Net Configuration if I was to just use mydatabase. Any suggestions

I wanted to use the email and username columns from the membership table to send newsletters automatically from the database(but that's a whole other post)I also have my own databse, which will be populated by information gathered from the website, so is currently empty. I'd like to take this opportunity to say that i don't think there's enough information given on how to populate a blank database from a website application. Most tuorials etc are concentrated on retrieving and displaying data, which is all well and good, once you actually have data to play with!I don't need two databases, so can I add tables to the aspnet.mdf ? But then what about relationships etc? I won't damage the current relationships by adding new ones? On the other hand can i copy the aspnet.mdf into my own database, and then assign the relevant permissions to that db? Any help would be greatly appreciated-in language for newbies please! I am relatively new to .asp.net/Visual Basic/ and SQL. It's a steep learning curve!Also....I have used create user wizard, login, password recovery etc within my site, the data is inserted into the correct db tables-without using an sql datasource for some reason...? is that right?I have also created a wizard to collect some more data (because i couldn't work out how to insert the data from the extra steps in create user wizard, into my own database) but when i click submit the data is not inserting into the specified table - (yes the connection string is fine, insert and update has been selected from the advance tab in connections wizard). Would this/could this be because i have assigned a 'finishbutton url'? should i use a Response.Redirect("blahblah.aspx") instead?
