2005: Creating Aggregate Function From .NET Assembly

Hello,
I am learning SQL Server 2005. I have (correctly) written in .NET
assembly DemoSQLServer with aggregate function AvgNoMinMax in class
Demo and I have added assembly to database DemoSQLServer. Now I need
to create aggregate in SQL Server. I tried this way:
CREATE AGGREGATE AvgNoMinMax(@v float) RETURNS float EXTERNAL NAME
[DemoSQLServer].[DemoSQLServer.Demo].[AvgNoMinMax]
Unfortunately I have error:
Incorrect syntax near '.'.
I don't know what's wrong. Please help.

Which compiles fine...
i then use the following code to create the assembly in SQL which is fine:
USE NARD GO CREATE ASSEMBLY SICCodeTrans FROM 'c:SICCodeTrans.dll' WITH PERMISSION_SET = SAFE GO
but when i goto create the function with the following code it wont have it!
CREATE FUNCTION TransSICCode(@inpSIC varchar) RETURNS varchar AS EXTERNAL NAME SICCodeTrans.SICTrans.TransSIC GO
It gives me the following error message
Msg 6505, Level 16, State 1, Procedure TransSICCode, Line 1 Could not find Type 'SICTrans' in assembly 'SICCodeTrans'.
I am a bit paranoid about what I just did to my SQL Server 2005 with this CLR experiment.
I created a Class Lib in C# called inLineLib that has a class Queue which represents an object with an ID field.
in another separate namespace called inLineCLRsql, I created a class called test which will hold the function to be accessed from DB, I referenced and created an instances of the Queue class, and retrieve it's ID in a function called PrintMessage.
to access this from the db, I attempted to create an assembley referencing inLineCLRsql.dll. This didn't work as it complained about inLineLib assembly not existing in the db. I then attempted to create an assembley for inLineLib but it barfed saying System.Management assembly not created.
so what I did is (and this is where I need to know if I just ruined sql server or not):
1- ALTER DATABASE myDB SET TRUSTWORTHY ON;.
2- CREATE ASSEMBLY SystemManagement
FROM 'C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.Management.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE
3- CREATE ASSEMBLY inLineLibMaster
FROM 'D:inLineServerinLineLibinDebuginLineLib.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = unsafe
4- and finally
CREATE ASSEMBLY inLineLib
FROM 'D:inLineServerCLRSQLinlineCLRsqlinDebuginlineCLRsql.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = SAFE
Everything works after those steps (which took some trial and error). I can create a sproc like:

and it returns the Queue ID
Is there anything unadvisable about the steps above?

I have to make a user defined function in c# as the class liberary and create a dll file, now i want to use this function in SQL Server 2005 as a part of CLR Integration

The interesting thing is that when I deploy this locally on my machine, there are no problems whatsoever. Using sp_configure the servers appear to be set up the same way. The database also has trustworthy set on for both.
Hi,I have developed a Stored procedure to output text to a text file, after doing a lot of reading here. I want to be able to output data to a Postgres database, to be used for web mapping. I have referenced an Assembly Npgsql.dll so I can send updates to the postgres database when my ms sql database is updated. However, after building my class library, when I try to CREATE ASSEMBLY in sql server 2005 express, it sends out a message: Msg 10301, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Assembly 'ClassLibrary1' references assembly 'system.drawing, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.', which is not present in the current database. SQL Server attempted to locate and automatically load the referenced assembly from the same location where referring assembly came from, but that operation has failed (reason: 2(error not found)). Please load the referenced assembly into the current database and retry your request. The error seems to be in the Npgsql.dll assembly, can anybody please shed some light on this. I tried to load the system.drawing assembly, and can do so in Unrestricted mode. It then spits out the same problem for System.Windows.Forms.dll. I am still very new to all of this so any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Jatz91.
Hi I want to use CLR for developing database object such as stored procedures. I have read the "Getting Started with CLR Integration" from MSDN help and successfully create my first procedure. I create an assembly in SQLServer2005 with this code:
CREATE ASSEMBLY helloworld from 'c:helloworld.dll' WITH PERMISSION_SET = SAFE
My questions are : How should I deal with helloworld.dll after creating Assembly? Can I delete this file? What should I do for uploading my application on the webserver? Should I upload any .dll file?
The main problem I am currently facing is that I do not have the following directory to place the DLL file: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80ToolsReport Designer. It is the "Report Designer" part that is missing. I tried adding it, but that didn't work.
Does anyone know how to make a query and use an aggregate function? This is my current code...any help would be great. I have three tables, tblschedule, tblresource and tblemployeename. in tblschedule table there are scheduleID, resourceID and employeeID. In tblResource there are ResourceID and ResourceName. In tblemployeename there are EmployeeID, EmployeeFName and EmployeeLame. I want to have a report that show how many times the resource has been reserved by employee. i would like to have a report. Look like the following:
ResourceName EmployeeFName EmployeeLName (Or use EmployeeName) Number of record.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a way to insert a count of a set of records into a table and then read that table and produce an XML file from that dataset. The problem that I'm coming across is that when you do this type of query you have to specify one of the values from the table and then get a count for the number of records of that particular range of values. The table that I am trying to get the data from will look something like this: ItemID ModuleID Description ......1 2869 blah blah blah2 2869 blah blah blah3 2869 blah blah blah4 2690 bit bit bit5 2690 bit bit bit6 2690 bit bit bit So I count the 2869's and 2690's and place the ModuleID and the count of the ItemID's in another table. Then I need to extract the data from the table and put it into an XML file that is readable by the ReadXML method in ASP.NET. So far I've got the SPROC to do only one record at a time but I would like one that does the whole table rather than one at a time using a parameter.

hi there, I have a query that works on sybase and want to make it also works on SQL Server. The problem is that in this query I 'm using a subquery in an aggregate function. It seems that SQL Server unlike Sybase doesn't support the use of subquery in aggregate function. How can I overcome this problem.
I am working on a view in SQL Server 2005. I am trying to get a list of the number of sessions each user had by user. I tried doing it this way, but
SELECT userid, MAX ((SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT sessionId) AS SESSIONCOUNT FROM dbo.Sessions AS OD HAVING (sessionId = O.sessionId))) AS MAXSESSION FROM dbo.Sessions AS O GROUP BY userid
but it throws an error 'Cannot perform an aggregate function on an expression containing an aggregate or subquery.'
If you use Coalesce with Count will it return all values even when null? Reason I pose this question to you is that I am running the below query and am getting escalated results than what should be returned. 1st stop on the debug train is how does Coalesce handle it....for example Boston should return only 143 but the query retunrs 194 for Boston?

I want to count how many occurences their is of each date that is returned by my sql query. I am not sure how to add the aggregate function code to my query I know how to just tell it to count all records, but not to tell it to count for each group of dates. For example I want it to count how many times 5/6/08 shows up in the returned results and so on. Here is my query I currently have. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am trying to use the following syntax and it is saying I can't use an aggregate function in a subquery. I can't use a GROUP BY in this case because if another field in the project table (such as status) is different, that project will show up twice.So in this case I am using this syntax to show the most recent quote within the project.

My goal here is to show the most recent quote within each project (there can be multiple revisions of a quote within each project). I want to show other fields such as the status of the quote, but if the status is different between quotes, the GROUP BY on that field will cause it to be listed more than once. All I want to show is the most recent quote for each project.

I have made an aggregate function sql (as far as I understand).I need the sum but also the features column. But I can only read one column in the select.Here is the select trying to read two columns:

I've the following query: select F_Mode, Issue_Count, Sum(Issue_Count) as IssueSum, milestone from rpt_fact_Paretos Group By F_Mode having milestone = 'SDS'
If the above query is executed, the resultset is: Fail1 5 5 SDS Fail2 6 6 SDS
Question: I'm not getting the SUM of Issue_Count. I agree that I'm using F_Mode as Group By and hence the result. But if I use milestone as Group By I won't get all the F_Mode in the result set.
