My company has just started in the SQL Server's world and we are going to buy books
on this software. Our systems will run on SQL Server Standard Ed. 2000.
The question is: should I buy books on SQL Server 2005 ? Or 2000?
I'm not quite sure what kind of material to buy nor the differences between them.
Could anyone give me a hand with this?

Feb 18, 2007Hi,I am looking for a book on SQL Server 2000. One that covers enterprise manager, query profiler, stored procedure syntax etc.I have about intermediate knowledge of both SQL and SQL Server 2000 but want to expand my knowledge for work etc. as I will be using it more and more for work.
I will predominately be using SQL Server as a backend for web and software applications, programming in .NET.Any recommendations?

My web host offers a 100MB SQL Server database as part ofthe package, and I'd like to use the feature to learn.I am proficient in Access and familiar with basic connectivity to itvia ASP. We are currently have SQLS ERVER 2000 . We are planning to upgrade to SQL SERVER 2005 Next month. I believe DTSPkgs have changed significantly in 2005.. I have not used SQLS ERVER 2005 a whole lot yet. Can you pl recommend me aa GOOD Book that I can read, to get a GOOD understanding of SQL SERVER 2005.

Is this book still the only book written for SQL2005's data mining? Does anyone know where I can find its errata? I have never seen so many editorial errors (typos, mislabeling, etc.) in other books. I am not worried about those obvious errors, but I am afraid that some errors may be so deceiving that when I find out, a lot of time will have been spent on misguided effort.

I'm on page 41 and I'm getting an error with the example in the "SELECT "2004" FROM Sales.vSalesPersonSalesByFiscalYears"
part because there is not a table called Sales.vSalesPersonSalesByFiscalYears in the AdventureWorks database.

Each time that I create it.. ONLY the ALL LEVEL is shown and it is impossible to expand the model to look at the Decision Tree, Neural Network, or the Clustering model etc. Drill down is enabled (tried it with and without enabling the drill down).
The Children at Home field has been populated with values from 0 - 4.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I got this error message when I try to connect to database hosted in another PC running SQL server 2000.
Is it true that SQlL server Express can only use Local Database Engine to host the database?

Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. I got through the installation hoops for SQLEXPRESS Reporting Services in Vista and set up the default configurations in Report Services Configuration. I can explore the default directory for "Reports" in IIS7, but I can't browse in IE. I get the "The report server is not responding. verify that the report server..." message in the browser. This is after I migrated the app per the initial http 500 error using the preferred method - %systemroot%system32inetservAPPCMD.exe migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports".
I'm running Vista Ultimate, VS2005, SQLEXPRESS SP2. I've tried running IE as admin and also I've disabled UAC from gpedit.msc - ...Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PolicySecurity Options and unchecking UAC.

when the windows finish restarting i open the Event viewer and see that what coused it is the error :

When I trying to configure Reposrting services in IIS & XP. It hsows me error
"The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer."
I also configure with reposrting configuration tools which show all confuguration is perfect.
but when I try to open through IE http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
or http://localhost/Reportserver
It shows error. I try all ways still not works ..Help me out

Hi All
Recently, several of our users have started to experience issues with hyperlinks in a report. I have created a textbox added navigation and selected the report to 'jump to' and the users are getting this error:
The specified server url does not link to the report server for this report manager or is not in the correct format
I have changed this to a an url but the error persists - there is nothing on google or MSDN that i can find which relates to this error so im kinda stuck with this one! The error is not affecting all users, just a small subset of them. Each of the users has different AD rights with one of them being a Domain Admin so i dont think it is a security issue.
the hyperlink which is being built is this :
http://<SERVERNAME>/SQLReports/Pages/Report.aspx?ServerUrl=http%3a%2f%2f<SERVERNAME>%2fReportServer%3f%252f<SERVERNAME>%252fS<REPORTNAME>
*obviously the <SERVERNAME> and <REPORTNAME> are not real server or report names - im just being cautious by not including this detail on a forum post.
Report manager is installed on several machines as part of a webfarm but this has not caused any problems in the past (i have over 200 reports under my belt thus far)
....Anyone have any ideas?

I went to my comp ->rt cick->manage-IIS->default website->rt click->properties->directory security->annoymouse access€¦EDIT->under Default domain it was blank, and i added a domain there.
And i was getting error opening up the reports from localhost.
I changed everything to same as it was previosly, and I am getting the error:
