Hi,
I'm new in SSIS and I'm trying to copy data (1 table) from server1 to server2; I've set the MaximumErrorCount to 10 at control flow level, the transfer fails with this message :
Warning: The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (3) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors.
1. I'm wondering why SSIS tells me the maximum allowed (1) even if MaximumErrorCount = 10 ? do I miss something in settings ?
2. How to tell SSIS to transfer fails row to flat file and continue to processes next rows.
Thank you very match for your help

I have a problem with the maximum error count. I am creating a package to move data into a SQL Server table. If I don't have any errors I am fine. I am using an Ole DB Destination. To test the maximum errors I am creating primary key violations. The problem is that whenever I get an error on insert it is always 4 errors. So If I set the MaximumErrorCount to 5 it will always update the table even if I have 100 records with primary key violations (those records won't be insterted but all the rest will.
The SQLServerDestination has a maximumErrorCount value but it only works if you are on the same server.

1st question:
1. Create a new SSIS package
2. Add Script Task. Modify the script: Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure
3. Run the package. Results into message:"Warning: The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (1) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors". This is expected behaviour.
4. Add another Script task after the 1st Script Task and connect the tasks using "Failure" type of precedence constraint.
5. Run the script. The message is identical. There are now two tasks that set return value to Failure. Shouldn't there be two erroneous tasks and shouldn't the message say something like:"... number of errors raised (2) reached the maximum allowed (1)..."?
2nd question:
The documentation of MaximumErrorCount-property of a SSIS package is:"The maximum number of errors that can occur before a container stops running. The default value of this property is 1". What does this mean precisely - what does the statement "container stops running" mean. Let's assume MaximumErrorCount=M=1. If there is one task that fails should the whole SSIS package stop running? And secondly, how is the total number of errors calculated, i.e. if it is some kind of counter, when is the counter incremented. This relates to my 1st question, in which I though the number of errors would be two, but it only was one.

I am getting the MaximumErrorCount error when running the Copy Database Wizard. There is an error that I recognize with a stored procedure. I am not interested necessarily in fixing the stored proc error. Rather, I want to just simply copy it "as is" (working in production by the way) and then modify it locally.
I am trying to copy a production database to a develoment environment in order to test against some data. I keep getting the following error:
"The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (1) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount."
How do I configure the MaximumErrorCount on a particular Copy Database process?
I have looked through the documentation, and have not found any place in the UI to make this change.
I am copying a SQL 2000 db to a SQL 2005 (SP1) instance running on Windows XP SP2.
It makes no sense that I cannot make a configuration as recommended by the error message.
Thanks.

Now in script task of data flow I am trying to assign some value to it.
I have also defined same variable in Read/Write property of script task.
But at run time it gives me following error:

How do we resolve this??

Can the DTS execute SQL task recognize a table in an Access database that is linked from another Access database?
I'm attempting to use a DTS Execute SQL task connected to Access1.mdb to make a new table in Access1.mdb that is using a Subquery from a linked table in Access2.mdb . (I know it sounds convoluded..) Its giving me an error in my FROM clause as if it can't recognize the linked table from Access2.mdb.
The reason why I'm doing this is that I'm not sure how to run an Access make table query from DTS that will overwrite the existing table in Access. I get an error that the table already exists.
Any Help?

Hi,
I sometimes come accross this error when I attempt to execute an isolated task in the control flow. What is funny is that I am still able to debug the package.
It eventually resolves after a while. What could it be?

Hi Everyone,
I created a script task that uploads a file to a HTTPs site. The script task works well and now I want to turn this script task into a custom component...
I'm having problems on how to call the variables I have in the package, I already locked them for reading, but how am I suppose to access them and how can I put their values into strings so I can easily call them in the WebClient.UploadFile method?
Also, I am very new to custom tasks in SSIS.. and would appreciate if anyone of you can send me something (code, link, etc.) of a very simple custom task without any form or properties, that I can try to study.
Basically, what I want my custom task to do is,
1. Read the varialbes in the package.
2. use the variables values as input in my WebClient.UploadFile("varURLstring", "PUT", "varFilePath")
as you can see, my custom task is really simple... but I'm a noob here and I don't know where to go.
Thanks in advance,
Kervy

Hi,
I have found that populating a data table from an SSIS variable (recordset) within a script task works fine first time round but produces no results subsequently:
Code Snippet
Public Class ScriptMain
Public Sub Main()
Dim ad As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter
Dim dt1 As New DataTable
ad.Fill(dt1, ReadVariable("myRecordset"))
'below returns count of 5500
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("dt1 Count: " + dt1.Rows.Count.ToString)
Dim dt2 As New DataTable
ad.Fill(dt2, ReadVariable("myRecordset"))
'below returns count of 0
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("dt2 Count: " + dt2.Rows.Count.ToString)
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
End Sub
Code Snippet
Private Function ReadVariable(ByVal varName As String) As Object
Dim result As Object
Try
Dim vars As Variables
Dts.VariableDispenser.LockForRead(varName)
Dts.VariableDispenser.GetVariables(vars)
Try
result = vars(varName).Value
Catch ex As Exception
Throw ex
Finally
vars.Unlock()
End Try
Catch ex As Exception
Throw ex
End Try
Return result
End Function
Anybody got any ideas?
Phil.

Hi,
for some reasons, I have to get access to the TaskHost during validation and execution. For example, I wanna know, if my task is within a container or not (parent is Sequence).
For the UI during design time, there is the TaskHost parameter. What about the execution time or during validation?
Any hints?
Thanks.

I found this and have done everything it says to do, but I can't get the script to compile. Any ideas on how to run a access macro in SSIS??
Baiscally to execute an Access Macros in SSIS package we need to Download
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access DLL from Office XP PIAs.
Download site
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C41BD61E-3060-4F71-A6B4-01FEBA508E52&displaylang=en
1) Extract the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access DLL from Oxppia.exe
2) Drag and Drop Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access DLL to Global Assembley Directory(GAC) ie: C:WINNTassembly for Windows 2000 -- C:WINDOWSassembly for ( Win Xp and Win 2003)
3) Copy paste Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access to C:WINNTMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727 for Windows 2000 -- C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727 ( Win Xp and Win 2003)
4) Add DLL reference in the Script Task
5) Add the below Code
1) Create a New Project in SSIS
2) Drag and Drop Script Task
3) Copy Paste the code in script task editor
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access
Try
Dim objAccess As New Access.Application
objAccess.OpenCurrentDatabase("D:TestMacro.mdb", False) ' Add the Access File Path
objAccess.DoCmd.RunMacro("Macro1") ' Replace Macro1 with the name of your macro
objAccess.CloseCurrentDatabase()
objAccess.Quit(Access.AcQuitOption.acQuitSaveNone)
objAccess = Nothing
Catch ex As Exception
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(ex.ToString())
End Try
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success

I have an error when a package is trying to execute a SubPackage using the "Execute Package Task". I have this problem for all packages that are running sub packages.
The packages are stored in the DTSPackages folder of the SQL Server installation folder.
The master package is called from an Event Handler on a document library in MOSS 2007.
The account from the Sharepoint Application Pool has Full Control on the DTSPackages folder.

Hi,
I'm trying to simplify the deployment process of my project. I already had some troubles with the config files but lets say I solved that issue. I'm going to read a flat file and set the variables of my packages from this file. I was thinking to use a Script Task to do that but I will need to copy this task in every package (I have at least 30). So if I want to make some change this will be painful.
Then, I came up with the idea of creating a Custom Task called Config File Task. I'm working on this but I got stuck trying to get the variables from the package that is running my Config File Task.
This is the code I had in the Script Task:
Dim streamReader As New StreamReader(Dts.Variables("ConfigFilePath").Value.ToString)
Dim line As String
Dim lineArray As String()
Dim variableName As String
Dim variableValue As String
Dim readConfigurations As Boolean = False
While (streamReader.Peek() <> -1)
line = streamReader.ReadLine()
If line = "[CONFIGURATIONS]" Then
readConfigurations = True
ElseIf line = "[/CONFIGURATIONS]" Then
readConfigurations = False
Else
If readConfigurations And line <> "" Then
lineArray = line.Split("|".ToCharArray())
variableName = lineArray(0).Trim()
variableValue = lineArray(1).Trim()
If Dts.Variables.Contains(variableName) Then
Dts.Variables(variableName).Value = variableValue
End If
End If
End If
End While
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
All I want to do is set the variables that exists in each package from the config file. In my UI Class (ConfigFileTaskUI.cs) I can have access to the variables via the TaskHost which is passed as an argument of Initialize() method.
Any thoughts? I'd really appreciate some help!
P.S. I've been working on this for 2 days!

Hi,
I created a Custom Task which it has a Property called ConfigFilePath. I'm overriding the Validate() method from Task. I want to throw an error if my property ConfigFilePath is empty and if the expression for this property is empty. So far, I can check if the property is empty but I don't see how I can access the Expressions Collection of my Custom Task.
Any thoughts? I'd appreciate your help.

Note: this applies to SQL 2012 only. I'm using the project deployment model in SQL SSIS 2012
I have a script task inside the SSIS package that renames some files on a domain share. (mydomainmyfileshare)
The database owner is a domain user (mydomainsvclogin)
I start the package from a stored procedure like so:
EXEC [SSISDB].[catalog].[start_execution] @execution_id
When the package is deployed to my local machine, it executes without error.
When it is deployed to a remote server on the same domain (2012), I get an error:
Access to the path mydomainmyfileshare is denied.
The report log show that the caller is mydomainsvclogin. I added some informational logging of my own and I see that the variable System::UserName is also mydomainsvclogin
I logged on to windows as mydomainsvclogin and verified that I can modify/delete/change files on mydomainmyfileshare
On older packages, I used credentials and proxy accounts to set up access to domain resources.
How do you specify the account (a domain account) that will access domain resources in an SSIS 2012 package ?

(2)Has anyone pushed data to a SharePoint List from a SQL Server table?
I tried doing that via the linked table but the destination task of the data flow task does not allow me to push data into the table.
(3) Has anyone designed an SSIS package to write data to an AccESS table from a SQL Server table?

I have an Access 2.0 database that holds call data on a mapped drive. I am running MS SQL Server 2000. I can open it and view the records inside. I can even run the query below and get results, if I removed the CallDate and CallTime parameters.
SELECT CallDate, CallTime, Mid(CallRecordData, 68, 3) AS Extension, 'I' AS Direction, Mid(CallRecordData, 34, 11) AS Called,
Val(Mid(CallRecordData, 18, 2)) + Val(Mid(CallRecordData, 21, 2))/ 60 AS Minutes, Val(Mid(CallRecordData, 21, 2)) AS Seconds
FROM CallRecords
WHERE (CallDate = ?) AND (CallTime >= ?) AND (CallTime < ?) AND (Mid(CallRecordData, 30, 1) <> '9')
When I preview in the Transform Data Task, I get:
Package Error
Error Source: Microsoft JET Database Engine
Error Description: No value given for one or more required parameters.
When I look at the parameters, they are listed. I check their values, and they have the appropriate values (DateCalled, String, 07/14/2005) (StartTime, String, 06:30) (EndTime, String, 07:00)
When I run it in the build query or in Access with a linked table to the source, I can enter the values when asked for them and it works.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

OK. I give up and need help. Hopefully it's something minor ...
I have a dataflow which returns email addresses to a recordset.
I pass this recordset into a ForEachLoop configuring the enumerator as (Foreach ADO Enumerator). I also map the email address as a variable with index 0.
I then have a Execute SQL task which receives this email address as a varchar variable (parameter 0) which I then use in my SQL command to limit the rows returned. I have commented out the where clause and returned all rows regardless of email address to try to troubleshoot this problem. In either event, I then use a resultset to store the query result of type object and result name 0.
I then pass this resultset into a script variable to start parsing the sql rows returned as type object. ( I assume this is the correct way to do this from other prior posts ...).
The script appears to throw an exception at the following line. I assume it's because I'm either not passing in the values properly or the query doesn't return anything. However, I am certain the query works as it executes just fine at the command prompt.
Try
ds = CType(Dts.Variables("VP_EMAIL_RESULTS_RS").Value, DataSet)
My intent is to email the query results to each email address with the following type of data by passing the parsed data from the script to a send mail task. Email works fine and sends out messages but the content is empty. I pass the parsed data as string values to the messagesource and define the messagesourcetype as a variable in the mail task.
part number leadtime
x 5
y 9
....
Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
thanks

I am having problems executing a child package from a parent package using the Execute Package Task. I am attempting to run the master package through a SQL Server Agent job.
The SQL Server Agent job is owned by sa. The step that runs the parent package is configured to load the package from the SSIS Package Store on the same server that the job is running.
I have the Execute Package Task configured as follows:
Location: SQL Server
ExecuteOutOfProcess: True
Connecting as a SQL Server login (let's say TestEtl)
I have added the db_dtsoperator database role to both the TestEtl login and the login that SQL Server Agent connects through. I have also configured the child package's reader role to include db_dtsoperator. Per http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms141053.aspx, this should allow these logins to run the child package.
I have enabled logging of all events in both the parent and child packages. I see the following in the logs when the Execute Package Task executes (omitted portions unrelated to the execution of the child package task):

Hi,
I'm having an SSIS package which gives the following error when executed :
Error: 0xC002F210 at Create Linked Server, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "exec (?)" failed with the following error: "Syntax error or access violation". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.Task failed: Create Linked Server
The package has a single Execute SQL task with the properties listed below :
General Properties
Result Set : None
ConnectionType : OLEDB
Connection : Connected to a Local Database (DB1)
SQLSourceType : Direct Input
SQL Statement : exec(?)
IsQueryStorePro : False
BypassPrepare : False
Parameter Mapping Properties
variableName Direction DataType ParameterName
User::AddLinkSql Input Varchar 0
'AddLinkSql' is a global variable of package scope of type string with the value
Exec sp_AddLinkedServer 'Srv1','','SQLOLEDB.1',@DataSrc='localhost',@catalog ='DB1'
When I try to execute the Query task, it fails with the above error. Also, the above the sql statement cannot be parsed and gives error "The query failed to parse. Syntax or access violation"
I would like to add that the above package was migrated from DTS, where it runs without any error, eventhough
it gives the same parse error message.
I would appreciate if anybody can help me out of this issue by suggeting where the problem is.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
I am trying to create a simple BI Application for SSIS. In Visual Studio 2005 I just get a Data Flow Task from the toolbar and add it to the project. When I double click it I get the following error:
The task with the name "Data Flow Task" and the creation name "DTS.Pipeline.1" is not registered for use on this computer.
Then when I try to delete it it gives this other error:

I am creating this application in an administrator account in this computer, so I doubt the problem is related to permissions. I am running SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in WinXP Tablet PC Edition.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how to fix it?

I am using the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" to copy some tables from database A to database B including data.
The tables, primary key constraints, Foreign key, data and all transfers nicely except for "DEFAULT CONSTRAINTS" on the tables.
I have failed to find any option in the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" task to explicitly say "copy default constraints". So I guess logically it should happen automatically but it doesn't. I hope it is not a bug :-)
Any option anyone knows will help.
Thanks.
