Access To SQL Server Replication

Nov 10, 1999

HI

I need to replicate data from an Access (95-97) database to my SQL Server 7.0. There is a lot of different techniques availible, unfortanly none of them are easy and performance is also often bad. Suggestion for a way to do it will be appreciated. The following considerations exist.
* Data only to be transferred from access database to MS SQL Server
* Tables in Access database contains a large number of records (, that might change.
* Development of a program in VC60 or VB60 is OK

Any inputs appreciated.

SQL Server 2005 Everywhere Edition: Replication With MS Access?

Jun 30, 2006

Hello @all,

does anyone know whether a SQL Server 2005 Everywhere database can be replicated with a common MS Access database? Is there any possibility to synch a database on a mobile device (SQL Everywhere) with a central database on a server computer (like MS Access or SQL Express) without having to use a full version of SQL Server? Replication is just needed for merging a small database (4-5 tables) so I think the full version of SQL Server is a little bit oversized for this issue (and too expensive, too).

Thank you very much in advance,

Tim

We have a SQL Server database that runs a website on our server, however the company that we are running the website for requested that they have a replicated local version at their business. Everything is working fine.

However they have requested that they have access to the replication logs. They want to have the details of the recent replication details so they can see if changes they have made on their side has been transferre across successfully they also want a table with all the details in of the changes that have ever happened. Can anyone suggest a good way of doing this?

SQL Back - Access Front - Replication - Records 'jump'

May 12, 2007

Hi all :

I hope this is an easy one for some of you - this is the scenario :

1) I have an Access Application that has been upsized to SQL

2) We are now replicating it with a second office

3) When we started doing the Merge Replication, the ROWGUID was added to each table

4) When we attempt to add a new record to the table, it allows us to add 3 fields, then the record 'jumps' to the indexed location of the ROWGUID

5) The 'jump' is undesirable as we then have to resort the table by key and finish its input.

5) We have our own primary identity field that SQL seems to be ignoring.

Any help would be really great

DBCC OPENTRAN Shows REPLICATION On A Server That Is Not Configured For Replication

Hello,

I have this problem on a Production database.

DBCC OPENTRAN shows "REPLICATION" on a server that is not configured for replication. The transaction log is almost as large as the database (40GB) with a Simple recovery model. I would like to find out how the log can be truncated in such a situation.

Thank you.

Data Access :: Server Rejected The Connection - Access To Selected Database Has Been Denied

Jun 10, 2015

I have recently upgraded to SQL2014 on Win2012. The Access front end program works fine.

But, previously created Excel reports with built in MS Queries now fail with the above error for users with MS 2013.  The queries still work for users still using MS 2007.

I also cannot create any new queries and get the same error message. If I log on as myself on the domain to another PC with 2007 installed it works fine, so I don't think it is anything to do with AD groups or permissions.

Multi-user Access Through A Data-access Layer/remoting Server

Oct 30, 2007

Hi guys,

I've been developing desktop client-server and web apps and have used Access and SQL Server Standard most of the time.
I'm looking into using SQL CE, and had a few questions that I can't seem to get a clear picture on:

- The documentation for CE says that it supports 256 simultaneous connections and offers the Isolation levels, Transactions, Locking, etc with a 4GB DB. But most people say that CE is strictly a single-user DB and should not be used as a DB Server.
Could CE be extended for use as a multi-user DB Server by creating a custom server such as a .NET Remoting Server hosted through a Windows Service (or any other custom host) on a machine whereby the CE DB would run in-process with this server on the machine which would then be accessed by multiple users from multiple machines??
Clients PCs -> Server PC hosting Remoting Service -> ADO.NET -> SQL CE

- and further more can we use Enterprise Services (Serviced Components) to connect to SQL CE and further extend this model to offer a pure high-quality DB Server?
Clients PCs -> Server PC hosting Remoting Service -> Enterprise Services -> ADO.NET -> SQL CE

Seems quite doable to me, but I may be wrong..please let me know either ways

Thanks,
CP

Trying To Access SQL SERVER 2005 With Access 2003

Dec 18, 2006

I am trying to connect through ODBC connectivity, but it will not allow me to do so. I have investigated this matter. It leads me back to the server, because as I was configuring my client side database. It kept asking for the DSN(datasource name), but I was unable to choose one because there wasn't one to choose. Which is my current dilemma, How can I do this and have it available to choose from the server to satisfy the Access database?

I went to the domain where the software resides but I don't know what steps to take? I also found an interesting piece on microsoft about Kerberos, but I can't follow along according to the instructions it has. I have Access 2003 & SQL SERVER 2005, HELP...!

Basically, this is right off the heels of the install. I setup the server without the connectivity, but it is running the current configuration.

Move Instance Off A Server With Hardware Problems SQL Server 2000 Sp4 ENT With Replication

Apr 2, 2008

We have a SQL Server 2000 ent edition sp4 with 3 small databases and one 4 GB database which is REPLICATED
The Server has been bouncing like a yoyo today because of a disk controller problem and I am preparing to move the Instance to a whole new server this afternoon. The new Server will have the same IP and name as the original server.

Any suggestions for the easiest or most seamless way to make this happen? preferably using Backup and Restore since they plan on taking the old server down completely and then building a new server with the same name and IP ... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sql Server Merge Replication Vs. Sql Server Transactional With Updatable Subscribtion

Jun 12, 2006

Hi,

Transactional replication allows updatable subscriptions where changes at the subscriber are replicated up to the publisher, this can happen via Immediate Updating subscriptions, Queue subscriptions and P2P (new in SQL 2005), all forms of Transactional replication.

Any compared document between merge replication and Transactional with updatable subscribtion ?

Replication :: Server 1 And Server 2 In Mirroring Relationship With Automatic Failover

Sep 24, 2015

I'm looking at a setup where they have server1 and server2 in a mirroring relationship with automatic failover.

Server1 is the principalThey are using transactional replication to replicate asingle databse to server3 is AWS.Distribution database is on Server1All Agents (log reader, snapshot, distributor) run on Server1Server2 has not been set up for replication...My understanding is that in this set up you would normallly place the distribution database on a separate server and enable publication on the mirror, Server2.

What happens if they failover? Replication would stop, and presumably records added while the mirror is the active database would not be marked for replication? How would they recover?  Failback and reinintialize

Transactional Replication From SQL Server 2005 To SQL Server 2000

Nov 8, 2006

I am trying to test simple replication (only tables) of a database that resides on a SQL Server 2005 instance to a SQL Server 2000 instance. The Publisher and Distributer are set up on the SQL Server 2005 instance for Transactional replication. The subscriber is set up on in the 2000 instance. Replication Monitor shows the following error after applying a few scripts:
"Category: SQLSERVER Source SQLSERVER2000 Number: 170 Message: Line 6: Incorrect syntax near
'max'."

Here SQLSERVER2000 is the name of my 2000 instance, as should be obvious.

Beyond this point, replication fails. Any pointers as to where the problem could lie? Is this a known backward compatibility issue? I've checked all tables in the database and none contain any datatype that is new to 2005 (the database was actually created in and for SQL Server 2000.

Replication from 2000 to 2005 works fine, but the other way round is failing as described above. Any clues?

Replicate To Other Server If Replication With Main Server Failed ...

Let say I've 4 server with MS SQL 2000 installed and I want all of them having the same data. So I'm using merge replication by assign one of them as publisher/distributor.
The problem is when ( let say ) server that have been assign as publisher/distributor down then all the other server cannot make replication.
My idea was to make it replicate to other available server ( among them ) if replication to main server failed.
Is it possible ?
If possible how to do it ?

Need Help Regarding Replication Between SQL Server 2005 And SQL Server Mobie Edition!

Mar 20, 2006

Dear support,

I am working on my graduation project that has a wide section of PC Pocket application to merge data between the SQL Mobile Edition and the SQL Server 2005. So, i had done most of the steps mentioned in the Books Online for the SQL Mobile Edition, till i had reached the step of creating a subscription for the Mobile Database, it is known that at the end of this step there would be a code generated in order to use it in developing the application and after clicking finish the wizard will start Synchronization. Here this step fails with a message informing me that the snapshot agent is not started yet or the publisher didnt generate the snapshot yet !!

So looking forward to getting your advice soonly!
