, now , how do i enter in more then one value. When i select the multi value check box, it gives me more spaces. But then doesnt recognize the values when i put in more then one. am i doing something wrong?
The field is a Varchar 20
Sub Report Parameter Selections Via Values From Master Report Data
Jan 30, 2007I am designing a report which will be used under the subreport control of a master report, now i am using a stored procedure for the subreport which has two parameters.
In the subreports dataset parameters tab, how can i mention the master reports columns, since i do not see the master reports columns here. since it is a different report.
If i use a hardcoded select query then i can just say
select address, city, state, zipcode from customer where (customerid = @customerID)
but i am using a stored proc. how to define the parameters under datasets parameter tab.

SQL Report With Parameter For Multiple Values
Apr 20, 2007I need to somehow set up a third parameter which allows me to control the tag quantity type either by ALL - % , IS NULL, or IS NOT NULL.
I tried TAG_QUANTITY LIKE :Tags but this would only work if I had the % option select and not the IS NULL or IS NOT NULL
Any thoughts on how to format the select statement?

How Can I Specify Report Parameter Values Using The Url Querystring?
Apr 4, 2008I have a report that has 2 parameters. I use this report to do comparisons of performance data between two builds of our product. I'm not hosting this report in a seperate page, just using the standard sql reporting services web interface.
I'd like to be able to send out a link to this page that will load up the page with values for the parameters specified. I know in the report definition itself I can change the default parameter values, but I'd rather not change and redeploy the report every time I need to send it out for others to view.
My first thought was that it should be easy enough to specify the parameters as part of the url querystring and read the values in somehow using an expression for the parameters default value. Is this possible? I've done a bunch of searching but can't seem to find any good examples of this.
Sorting Parameter Values In SSRS Model Based Report

I have created a report using Report designer (Visual Studio, using Data Model as a data source), in the report I had created few datasets (with single filed) to populate the report parameters, lets say I have created a multi valued Parameter CustomerName and assigned field from a dataset,
result are coming correctly and combo box is getting populated but the customers are not in alphabetical order!
I want to sort it and need to specify it in report (please note that I am using Report Model as a data source and I can€™t sort the source table in the data base to get the result sorted)
Please let me know if anybody has done that or forward me if know some link which talks about it.

If All Values Of Dropdown Parameter Are Selected - Show ALL In Report Header

I have dropdown parameter with multi-values allowed.
In my report headed I want to show all the dropdown values that were checked by the user to run the report. But since there could be a couple of hundred values I want to show ALL when all the values are selected instead of listing them one by one.
How can I do that?

And I want @foodgroup to have these values ... "meat", "dairy", fruit", what is the correct way to add the parameter?
I tried
meat, dairy, fruit

but neither worked. Is this possible?
Show/Hide Report Parameters Based On Selected Values In Different Parameter

I have requirement where first I need to show only one report
parameter. Based on user selection I need to prompt or show the user
another report parameter.
Say suppose I have 3 parameters. User selects first value in first
parameter I should not show the other 2 parameters. If user selects
second value in first parameter I should show second parameter and
hide third parameter. There is no relationship between these 2
parameters except user selection. Similarly if user third value in
first parameter then I should show third parameter and hide second
parameter.
Is this possible? I can not see any Visible property for report
parameters.
If yes, how to achieve this functionality?

Â I have our report server locked down so that the users can't change the defaults, but I now want to empower them to maintain this on their own. Â Here is my dilemma. Â When you have the available parameters set up to pull from a query, the defaults on the report server have to be keyed in manually, which is not an option. Â The only way to get a check box there, is to explicitly specify the available values.I need my available values to be database driven and I need to be able to select my defaults on the report server using check boxes.

I understand that Multi-Select Parameters are converted behind the scenes to an In Clause when a report is executed. The problem that I have is that my multi-select string parameter is turned into an in claused filled with nvarchar/unicode expressions like:
Where columnName in (N'Value1', N'Value2', N'Value3'...)
This nvarchar / unicode expression takes what is already a fairly slow-performing construct and just drives it into the ground. When I capture my query with Profiler (so I can see the In Clause that is being built), I can run it in Management Studio and see the execution plan. Using N'Values' instead of just 'Value1', 'Value2','Value3' causes the query performance to drop from 40 seconds to two minutes and 40 seconds. It's horrible. How can I make it stop!!!?
Is there any way to force the query-rewriting process in Reporting Services to just use plain-old, varchar text values instead of forcing each value in the list to be converted on the fly to an Nvarchar value like this? The column from which I am pulling values for the parameter and the column that I am filtering are both just plain varchar.

Jul 7, 2015There is a multi value parameter called  "include" in the report where "Allow Multiple Values" is checked and it has 4 Available values as shown in the attached screen shots and preview of the report is also shown .There is no data set for this parameter and the values  will get displayed on the report based on the visibility condition set in the report.Example : If first value  is selected  then 1 is passed and based on the visibility condition set in the report - the report output is displayed.None is default value and has value 4  and when the report is run with this option i.e. "None" then rest three parameter values are not applicable .
Requirement :
-When the end user selects (Select All) Check box then (None)
-check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-When the end user selects check boxes either of the first three except None then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for -selection for the end user
-when the end user selects a combination of first three then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-The None is set as default with a value as 4 and is applicable only when the user does not select either of the first three values and the report will run.

Actually we have multiple Sub Reports which we want to open from the Main Report. Initially when i used "Jump To Report" property it worked fine but in the browser the Main Report used to get refreshed everytime i had to Go Back to Main Report from Sub Report.
Second solution which i want to try is using "Jump To URL" property.
Some Details:
I have multiple parameters in the report.
My parameters are getting data from a Cube.
Parameters can have Multiple Vaue selected at a time.
I want to pass all the values to the URL.
Say
Parameter1 is DimCountryCountry
can have values such as:
[Dim Country].[Country].[All]
[Dim Country].[Country].&[India]
[Dim Country].[Country].&[Germany]
......
Parameter2 is DimCountryState
can have values such as:
[Dim Country].[State].[All]
[Dim Country].[State].&[Delhi]
[Dim Country].[State].[Punjab]
.....
Now i want to create a URL using these values,since each parameter should be separated by "&"(ampersand) my URL looks like one below.
Following URL Works fine:
javascript:void(window.open'(http://MyReportServer/ReportServer/Pages/Report.aspx?/MyReports/Project1/Country+Data&rcarameters=false&DimCountryCountry=[Dim Country].[Country].[All]&DimCountryState=[Dim Country].[State].[All]'))
as long as there is no "&" in the Parameter Value the URL works fine.
But when i try to insert values other than "[All]" it starts failing because "[Dim Country].[Country].&[India]" contains "&", which gives error due to ambiguity, (whether this "&" is a parameter separater or is it a part of parameter value)
So i found a solution for that, which is to replace "&" with "%26" escape sequence characters.This works fine as long as we specify this escape sequence in address bar. i.e if we directly paste the following URL in the address bar it will work.
http://MyReportServer/ReportServer/Pages/Report.aspx?/MyReports/Project1/Country+Data&rcarameters=false&DimCountryCountry=[Dim Country].[Country].%26[India]&DimCountryState=[Dim Country].[State].%26[Delhi]
but if we put this URL in the Javascript, it doesnot work, because the WIndow.Open function automatically replaces the
"%26" characters with "&", which we know gives ambiguity error.
Please let me know if you have any suggesiton for it. Anyway any better solution for my problem.

How To Use Default Parameter Values With A Date Parameter From A Cube/Reducing Parameters

Hi,
I have parameters in my report. The user can choose the year, month and date (3 parameters).
Now I want to set default vaules for the parameters , so that the user sees the report for example for the current day without selecting the parameters. I tried to set the type of the parameters to DateTime and the default value for example for the year to "=Today().Year" . But when I execute the report an error occures . Something like : no validValue for this parameter.
My Attributes for the year month and date are from an Analyis Services Cube from a Server Time dimension .
Does somebody know how to make it possible to set default values for this parameters?
Other question :
Does somebody know how I can reduce the values for a parameter. For Example I have a parameter "year" from a server time dimension from a cube. The values which are available are "Year 2004", "Year 2005", "Year 2006", "Year 2007".
But I want that the user only can choose "Year 2006" or "Year 2007" ant not every Year or "All".
Or Other Example: The User should only choose a Date that is int the past or Today but not a Date in the future.

Here's what I have so far (which hasn't worked)...
I'd like to generate a report listing information for a student. The report viewer would first select a school from the first drop-down menu, and then the second drop-down menu would populate with the list of students at that school.
I have a dataset that calls a sp which returns a list of schools (SchoolID and SchoolName fields from the database table).
I have another dataset that calls a sp (with SchoolID as the parameter) which returns a list of students for that school.
Both datasets return the appropriate data when tested individually, but when I set up the Report Parameters and build the report, these errors come up...
The value expression for the query parameter '@SchoolID' refers to a non-existing report parameter 'SchoolID'.
The report parameter 'Student' has a DefaultValue or a ValidValue that depends on the report parameter "SchoolID". Forward dependencies are not valid.
...Is it possible for the reoprt to generate a list of available parameter values based on the value selected for another parameter?

Refreshing Parameter Values When A Higher Level Parameter Changes

I have a parameter (hidden) that gets its value using an expression base on another parameter.
When in the designer, the first time when the designer loads I can select the Parameter that controls the child parameter (expression lies in the default value section). The value changes.
When I change the parent parameter again, the value of the child parameter does not seem to change.
How can I make this parameter change automatically when the parent is changed ?
Any help will be appreciated.

In creating a report, how can you display a parameter selection that is a choice (for example, yes/no) where the data that is passed to the query is translated for the query. Selecting 'yes' would pass, for example, 'internal' to the query and selecting 'no' would pass 'external'.
Is this a setting that can be adjusted in Reporting Services, or is this just a matter of how I write my queries?

I am seriously stuck in SQL Reporting Services. And don't know where to go and what to do in order to achieve what I want to achieve.
1. In my report I have the following parameters. SiteID, Document Name, Document Location and Action. These values are picked from the database through queries and filled in the parameter combos.
2. I want the user to be able to view the report for 'Any', 'All' and/or 'None' of the values in the parameter.
e.g.
2.a. The user can generate the report and return all values.
2.b. The user can generate the report with a particular 'SiteID' but all Document Locations, Document Names and Actions.
2.c. The user can generate the report for 'All' SiteIDs, but one Document Location, 'All' Documents and 'All' Actions.
etc.
I was trying this out with parameters. But it wasn't working. Meaning, first of all I wasn't able to get 'All' from the database.
Can someone please help me out, or at least point me in the direction where I should be looking, since I have run out of options.

I'm creating a procedure to fetch rows from table. One field will come come as IN(). Its the condition. That field is numeric field (note down), i would like to pass the In values as parameter.

I am having a serious problem developing my reports within VS2005. For no reason, on one of my report it seems the parameters have got a life of there own.
There is a collection of 4 parameters whose values change randomly (internal, hidden, multivalue). Regardless of what I set them to, once I click save some change, when I alter 1 parameter, the values of one of the other parameters change while the settings for the parameter I changed to not apply.
What is going on here, I have been developing reports without issue however this is becoming a major concern. Please help!

i wanna know ,where to keep configuration parameter values either in an config file (xml), or a parameter table. i have it in xml and its working fine , but for a few of them , i need a greater fleximibility to change the values at any time, so was considering a param table.
the problem is that , a common package which reads the config from xml , now will need to read it from a table , while in case of xml , a file path can be assigned to a variable to be used by the package, but here, i dont have any db connection specification, it may be loaded on various servers. is it feasible..to use a parameter table...??

Sep 26, 2007I am deploying an rdl that is being deployed in a server.But i am encountering a problem regarding the valid values of the parameter.My parameters have dependencies,and one of my parameter comes out with two dependencies.
Scenario :
User needs to input his userID to access Book A.
Book B needs Book A because the output will be depending on the its content.
And Book C depend on Book B.
Problem:
when deploying, only Book A will have the initial value.The dependency in Book B is only one,which is fine.It shows its valid values. But how about for Book C which have 2 dependencies? Because it doesnt show it's valid values..

My problem is when I input a value for Portfolio parameter, i get two rows instead of one. If I input 'ALL UP'
then I get value only for ALL UP. But if I input smthing else , then I get values for that paramter value as well as ALL UP thus giving me two rows not just one as I want.
Case stament always gives me 0 value for ALL UP which is not the true value.
can anyone help me to correct this?

i'm using the object transform data task from a server (where i'm not dbo) to another server (where i'm dbo).
i'm getting data from a table. i need to select just some records from this table. i need to use a query like this one below...
select * from {table_name} where operationedate in ('20070101', '20070205', '20060524')
... cause everytime i run the dts the operationdate field must be filtered on different date.
so i tried to use the parameter from a global variables. i've tried lots of things but everytime i failed.
i used to try:
select * from {table_name} where operationedate in (?)
but it doesnt work!
any one can understand what i try to explain and even help me?
