I have a variable in SSIS that I want to access inside the Script Task. I assigned the variable in the ReadOnlyVariables in the Script Task property. How do I access it?
I've got two Sql Tasks on my dtsx. The first one loads a value into "Proyecto" user variable and the second one executes a variable named "SegundoProceso" which contains from the beginning:
"select Fecha from LogsCargaExcel where Proyecto = " + @[User::Proyecto] +"" As SqlSourceType propety I have "Variable" and inside ResultSet or Parameter Mapping nodes there is nothing.
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query ""select Fecha from LogsCargaExcel where Proyecto = " + @[User::Proyecto] +""" failed with the following error: "Cannot use empty object or column names. Use a single space if necessary.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
I have a variable SYear with the data type Integer and the value 2005.
Connection type is OLE DB, and my sql statement is:
DECLARE @MyYear Int
SET @MyYear = ?
I have set the variable User::Syear as Input with the parameter name=0, there is no result set. I set BypassPrepare both True and False. However, this simple statement does not work. I keep having an error. If I put integer value directly into @MyYear, it is fine. What is wrong in here? Somebody help me!
In a Data Flow, I have the necessity to use a SSIS variable of type €œObject€? inside Script Component and assign to it the content of 'n' variables of string type. On exiting from the script the variable of type object should contain something like in the following lines: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD €¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦. €¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦. On exiting from the data flow I will use the variable of type Object in a Script Task, by reading each element in a cyclic fashion. Is there anyone who have experienced something like this? Could anyone provide any example of that? Thanks in advance!
In one of my ScriptTasks, I instantiate FileSystemWatcher class and set events for it. This has been done inside the Main() method. I can access all the varibles declared in the SSIS package inside the Main() method (by using Dts.Variables("").Value) but none can be accessed inside the event methods. One possible reason for this can be, events might be running in different threads.
Now my question is, How the varibles can be accessed inside the event methods.
Hope someone can give me a solution. Appricate all your solutions. Thanks
I am writing a Sql Function in CLR. That function receives some data for processing. For processing the data, the function requires some additonal data to be fetched from the same database.
So, how does a CLR function execute SELECT or other Sql statements (or does it need to open up a SqlConnection for the purpose)???
I am facing an error while displaying a sql reporting service report on my asp.net page. The report it self is build using Report server project. It consists of a Main report which contains a bar graph. Upon clicking on the bar graph, it takes you to another report (i have given in the jump to report section), call it Report 2. Upon clicking on Report 2 it shows another report say Report 3. It is displayed properly as long as i run the preview of the report in my report project. When i deploy this report on the report server and trying it to access using my asp.net code behind. The main reports runs very fine. Upon clicking, it does not do anything and when i click again it display error, the report does not contain any thing. Sometime it does not show even the error. But just could not drill me in.
I presume on the click event of the report which is a char item, it calls the page load event, and it loses it parent report information or something like that. Please can any body guide me how to do this.
The following functionality i need to achieve with my web page.
My main report : Main report :upon click on any char item, it should take you to the second report. My second report : and on clicking on charitem on the the second report, it should take me to the third report.
I have a requirement to access a lookup table from within an SSIS Transform Script Component
The aim is to eliminate error characters from within the firstname, lastname, address etc. fields by doing a lookup of an ASCII code reference table and making an InStr() type comparison.
I cannot find a way of opening the reference data set from withing the transform.
Hi, I have to researching of how to accesss package tasks and component using the SqlServer.Dts.Runtime class and so far, I havent found any solution. For example, if you package has a scriptiong task and a data flow task(<- which contains a data source component). Is it possible to use the scripting component to access the data source component in the data flow task and manipulate its properites like sqlcommand etc.
ok, I am on Day 2 of being brain dead.I have a database with a table with 2 varchar(25) columns I have a btton click event that gets the value of the userName, and a text box.I NEED to insert a new row in a sql database, with the 2 variables.Ive used a sqldatasource object, and tried to midify the insert parameters, tried to set it at the button click event, and NOTHING is working. I'm working on an SSIS package that uses a vb.net script to grab some XML from a webservice (I'd explain why I'm not using a web service task here, but I'd just get angry), and I wish to then assign the XML string to a package variable which then gets sent along to a DataFlow Task that contains an XML Source that points at said variable. when I copy the XML string into the variable value in the script, if do a quickwatch on the variable (as in Dts.Variable("MyXML").value) it looks as though the new value has been copied to the variable, but when I step out of that task and look at the package explorer the variable is its original value.
I think the problem is that the dataflow XML source has a lock on the variable and so the script task isn't affecting it. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problem, or know a workaround?
I have a SQL Task that updates running totals on a record inserted using a Data Flow Task. The package runs without error, but the actual row does not calculate the running totals. I suspect that the inserted record is not committed until the package completes and the SQL Task is seeing the previous record as the current. Here is the code in the SQL Task:
DECLARE @DV INT; SET @DV = (SELECT MAX(DateValue) FROM tblTG); DECLARE @PV INT; SET @PV = @DV - 1;
I've not been successful in passing a SSIS global variable to a declared parameter, but is it possible to do this:
DECLARE @DV INT; SET @DV = ?; DECLARE @PV INT; SET @PV = @DV - 1;
I have almost 50 references to these parameters in the query so a substitution would be helpful.
Can someone please take a quick look at this and tell me what I'm doing wrong I'm sure it's something simple. I'm a little new to stored procedures but I've been using SQL and T-SQL for quite some time, I've just always used inline queries with my ASP. This procedure needs to be run monthly by me or another person I grant access to and will update sales information that our sales staff will be paid commission on. I need to supply the start date and and end date for the query and it will pull this information from our business system which is hosted remotely by a third party and pull it into our local SQL server where we can run commission reports against it. (I hope this is enough information you can understand where I'm trying to go with this). I know my problem right now lies in how I'm trying to call the variable inside of my T-SQL. Any help is appreciated. This is an old Unix system and it stores the date as YYYYMMDD as numeric values incase someone wonders why I have dimed my dates as numeric instead of as datetime =) I'm using a relativity client to create an ODBC connection to the UNIX server and then using a linked server to map a connection in SQL this is the reason for the OpenQuery(<CompanyName> SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO -- ============================================= -- Author: XXXXXXXXXXXXX -- Create date: 10/4/2007 -- Description: This proc is designed to pull all CSA -- part sales from XXXXXX business system and upload them -- into the local XXXXXXXX Database for commission reporting -- =============================================CREATE proc usp_CSAPartsSalesUpdate@date1 int, @date2 int As INSERT INTO CSAPartsSales ( CSA, CustomerNumber, CustomerName, Location, InvoiceNumber, InvoiceDate, InvoiceAmount ) SELECT SalesRoute, HInvCust, CustOrCompName, HInvLoc, HInvNo, HInvDate, HInvAmt From OpenQuery(<CompanyName>, 'Select CPBASC_All.SalesRoute, PMINVHST.HInvCust, CPBASC_All.CustOrCompName, PMINVHST.HInvLoc, PMINVHST.HInvNo, PMINVHST.HInvDate, PMINVHST.HInvAmtFROM PMINVHST INNER JOIN CPBASC_All ON PMINVHST.HInvCust = CPBASC_All.CustomerNo WHERE (((PMINVHST.HInvAmt)<>0) AND ((PMINVHST.HInvDate)>=''' + @date1 + ''' And (PMINVHST.HInvDate)<=''' + @date2 + ''') AND ((Trim([CPBASC_All].[SalesRoute]))<>'''' And (Trim([CPBASC_All].[SalesRoute]))<>''000''))')
In this example date1 will be equal to 20070901 and date2 will be equal to 20070930 so I can pull all CSA sales for the month of September. This is the error message I get when I try to create the proc: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Procedure usp_CSAPartsSalesUpdate, Line 17 Incorrect syntax near '+'. ~~~ Thanks All~~~

Someone told me that I couldnt update the global variavel inside a dataflow... but i need to have some solution to do that... :-(
I crate my identity column manually based on a global variable... and it works perfect, but in one dataflow I have to insert 2 times in the some table... so... in the second time my identity will be GlobalVariavel + increment of the first time rows inserted...
how can I save this increment in the dataflow? How can I count the rows inserted in the first time do use it in the second time i save Data to the some table??
Is it possible to update the value of a user defined variable within the DataFLow in SSIS. I am aware you can update a variable using a script task in the Control Flow, but how about the DataFlow?
CREATE PROCEDURE SelectCostumers @name varchar(100) Declare @SQL = "SELECT Id, Name FROM Costumers" AS IF (@name IS NULL) @SQL ELSE @SQL += "WHERE Name LIKE @name"
See, what I need is a string variable that I can concatenate with whatever I want depending on the parameter I get.

When I create a tableadapter to do an insert it added SELECT EventDate, EventID, org_id, ROMEventID FROM ROMEvents WHERE (ROMEventID = SCOPE_IDENTITY()) at the end. This looks useful to me since it implies that I can access ROMEventID which is the auto-incremented identity field. How would I reference the variable in my .cs file? My insert is working as ROMEventsTableAdapter ROMEventInsert = new ROMEventsTableAdapter(); ROMEventInsert.InsertIntoROMEvents(theDate, EventID, org_id); Thanks for any help
I have a sql task in my control flow, which is like Resultset = Single Row, SQL SourceType = Direct Input, SQL Stmt = EXEC StoreProcA ? Result Name VariableName StartDate UserStartDate EndDate User:EndDate Above SQL task is working fine... My question is I have an another SQL task immediately below that one.SQL Stmt is
SELECT CreditDebitDiff
FROM (SELECT C.BalanceNbr - D.BalanceNbr As CreditDebitDiff
FROM dbo.BalanceLog C, dbo.BalanceLog D
JOIN Work.CycleControl cc
ON cc.CycleControlId = D.CycleControlId
WHERE C.BalanceItemId = '81041'
AND D.BalanceItemId = '81031'
AND cc.CycleDate = ?) AS D
Parameter0 is mapped to User:EndDate and ResultName mapped to User:CreditDebitDiff (Datatype: Double) SQL Task fails. I know I am making a mistake but dunno how to correct it. I can do it with a store proc but don't want to. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
I have an application where the columns in a datatable stored in a variable (as a dataset with one table in it) are dynamic. This means that the number of columns and their data types will vary. Also, I would like to access the column names. For these reasons it is not very practical to map the columns to variables.
Is there a way to use a Script Task within a For Each Loop (with ADO enumeration) to read the data row by row (presumably as a datarow) getting the column names and coloumn values by numeric (column) index?
Can we include a Send Mail Task inside a transaction? We intend to callback a sent email in case there is an error in the subsequent task, if it is possible.
We are designing an ETL solution for a BI project using SSIS.
We need to load a dimension table from a source DB into the DW; inside the DW there are two tables for each source dimension table: a current dimension table and a storical dimension table.
The source table includes technical columns that indicate if each record was processed correctly by ETL procedures.
Each row in the source table can be a new record, or an exisisting one. If it's a new record, a corresponding new record should be inserted into the current dimension table of the DW; if it's an exisisting one, a new record should be inserted in the storical dimension table and the existing record in the current dimension table should be updated.
Furthermore for each record we need to update the source table with an error code. If the record was processed with succes the code is zero, otherwise it contains an error code.
I try to use a single data flow task, using the 'ole db command trasformation' task for managing update and 'ole db destination' task for managing insert.
The problem is that some insert and update should be executed inside a single transaction, for each record; for example if the source contains a new record I should insert the record in the current dimension table and update the source record with error code zero if every think goes fine.
There is some way to group task in the data flow pane in a single transaction ?
I've been looking around but haven't yet found the syntax for usage of global variables in an SQL Task.
I've set the global variable Id (see code below):
if (select field from table where id = @[User::id]) is null select top 1 1 as response from table else select top 1 0 as response from table
My objective with it is to set another global variable (@isNull). Supposably, when the selection returns null, I should set the variable to null, I did it by using the selections and mapping the response to that variable (is ther a better way to do so?).
When I try to execute this, it says the variable has not been defined. Here is the error:
Error: Must declare the variable '@'.
I've also tryed it withou the brackets and the User:: thing in the beggining, (@id directly) and here is the response:
Error: Must declare the variable '@id'.
How should I access the global variables in the SQL code? (BTW, I've checked the field in execution time and it is set to 23, the correct Id, so the block that preceedes this one is working properly)
Hi, I'm trying to loop thru a table and insert records into another table in ssis. So far I have been able to get the data using a execute sql task set up to store the full result set into a variable called data. I then drug a foreach loop container out and selected the foreach ADO enumerator and used my variable data as the ADO object source variable. I then set up a new variable under variable mappings with index 0 to get the collection values. How do I take that variable and update another table using another sql task inside the foreach loop container? Is this possible?
