I'm some what of a noob when it comes to ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 Express editions, so please bare with me.
I have created a basic database that is only one table. One of the fields is LogPicture with type of image.
I just want to go into the table and manually place a picture in the table, but it seems like I can not get the format down. I have tried including the picture I want into the project, but no dice. I've also tried putting the physical pathname (on the harddrive) and the web address of this field in there. Suggestions please?

I am trying to add a website address to all the records in a database that match a certain criteria. The statement that I am using is shown below, but surprise surprise, it's not working! I'm new to SQL so any help would me much appreciated! Thanks.

So, I have not included a VALUE for CONTACT_NUMBER as I wish to update all records with the website details as per the INSERT statement where the NAME column in the ORGANISATIONS table is 'Abc Limited'. I know something is wrong but I can't quite work out what!
Please may I have your assistance with the following I’m struggling to view the transaction log for a database. I’m using the following command structure
DBCC log ( {dbid|dbname}, [, type={-1|0|1|2|3|4}] ) PARAMETERS: Dbid or dbname - Enter either the dbid or the name of the database in question.
type - is the type of output:
0 - minimum information (operation, context, transaction id)
1 - more information (plus flags, tags, row length)
2 - very detailed information (plus object name, index name, page id, slot id)
3 - full information about each operation
4 - full information about each operation plus hexadecimal dump of the current transaction log's row.
-1 - full information about each operation plus hexadecimal dump of the current transaction log's row, plus Checkpoint Begin, DB Version, Max XACTID
Which I got from a web site, however the output does not make sense to me
Ideally I would like to analyse which SQL insert commands are predominantly using the log file
Any ideas how to do this or a tool that u recommend
I have a client site running SQL 2000. It seems some data rows havebeen deleted and several tables have been dropped. I have a current dbbackup which contains a 34GB log file, but I don't know how to view it.Is there any way to search through the log file and determine when thedata was lost or what process/user dropped the tables?Thanks,Tull.
I have tried just about everything i could find on the internet to fix this. Anyway.....I have a sql databasewith 3 colums: Client ID, Client Name, and Client Address I have no trouble reading the database through the gridview, but when i try to add a script that allows me to add to that database off of my site, I get error after error. I'm a new user to vwd. If I use a details view control on my page, I have noticed that the "New" link is not visible unless there is at least one record in the table. Is there any way of making it visible where there aren't any records?My web pages are currently hosted at vwdhosting. I have uploaded my database with the record structure onto the web site and I am using a remote connection string to access it. I have had users updating data in another table on the remote database. If I add records to my new table locally and upload the database to the remote site, all the data that my users have been adding will be lost. So, if I can't add my first record using a control on my web page when there are no records in the table, should I be doing it programmatically? If so, how?Thanks,Julie
Looking for any help someone can offer on adding an image to SQL.Working on what will hopefully be quite a big site and the user will be asked for some details, one of which will be an image (jpg, gif or bmp).Rather than add the image to a folder on the server, a folder which could end up being quite large, I was hoping someone could give me some help, suggestions or even point me towards a tutorial on how to store the image in an SQL database.Any helps appreciated, thanks :)

hi,i have an sql database on my server on the world wide web.i can make a connection to the database in visual web developer and all the tables etc are shown in the 'database explorer' of visual web developerwhen i make the query in visual web developer it does retrieve the data froom the remote server database when i 'test query'.... so looking great!the connection string in the webconfig file is left as the default when i run the prgram on my LOCAL HOST with the inbult server that comes with visual web developer it runs fine......so.....running on my local pc it will connect to the database on my www host server and does display the data from that database.i need to change the webconfig files path to the connection by default it is |DataDirectory|if i change this to the path i suspect is correct as this is the connection i use to the database C:Inetpubvhostsarcvillage.comhttpdocsApp_DataTestdatabase.mdfwhen i change the path in webconfig then it stops working on my localhost and the error when i ftp it to my host is:Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed. any ideas?
I building some reports with SSRS, and showing data in a table. The table has one Details row that forms at the end multiple rows with the tree view (+ and -).
Is there a way to open the tree view upwards and not downwards so that the children of level 2, 3 etc come over the parent row?

I created a Product database table using Visual Basic 2005 Express and SQL Server 2005 Express. I have just added a new column [Picture] with IMAGE datatype to the database table, which of course, should store an image or picture of a product. I am writing to kindly ask you guys for help.
i) How do I store a picture or image for each record of this column [Picture] of database table? I have tried and all that I can see is < binary data > in the picture column, and when I start the VB 2005 Express form is a blank picture box!
ii) How do I get this image to display on Visual Basic 2005 Express form, so that when a product is selected the product image is displayed too? All text data appears but not the picture!
I want to add a product photo in jpeg format to a products table. I'm storing the image of the product in separate jpeg files located in a folder on the same server that houses SQL Server. I don't want to store the photo directly in the table. I just want to reference the file location of the jpeg photo in a record.
Can someone provide me with code I need to add to the photo column for each record in the products table in order to reference the location of the jpeg photo associated with that record?
Subsequently, I want the photo to pop up in SQL Server Reporting Services product report.
I wouls like to have a custom button called "Set" in the report toolbar in addition to the "View Report" button. I am aware of the fact that the look and feel of the existing controls on the toolbar can be customised or can be hidden using HtmlViewer.css. Is there any code which I can tweak to add buttons or images on the report toolbar?

My Power view reports do not show the grand totals correctly. I think my issue relates perfectly to [URL]. However we have updated service pack 2 on both the sql data warehouse and the ssas box. They are 2012. However the power view is still incorrect. Pivot tables seem to work just fine. In AS I have a 2 separate measure groups that has a total count. I then use mdx to bring those two together. Something I have done many times in past with as 2008. My mdx looks like this below. I then hide Total Count EC (from measure group 1) and Total Count SF (from measure group 2). This way I have 1 total count value and they can use another dimension to see the two separate if needed.Â
The measure Total Count EC works just fine but the Total Count (MDX) does not . All in Power Pivot works fine but in Power View the grand totals are not correct.
Technically they should be able to view and modify jobs through Management Studio when being added only to SQLAgentOperatorRole. However they receive the following error when clicking on the Jobs folder regardless of the msdb role.
Our original two SQL 2005 servers do not produce this message, but all other instances do. All servers, but one, are SP2 so the service pack is not an issue. Any thoughts?
Hi, I have a concern about adding a new field to a table with image field - which is huge. Will there be a problem with some databases, where they have a hard time locating data correctly after such a large field? Previously this happened to me, and what was advised to put all the big fields at the end of the table. Thanks.
How can I add "filler" months to a query? I have a view that has data for January but I want the report that is linked via a pivot table to show february-december with blank data. so the report has a full 12month view.

I am using the 3-tiered architecture design (presentation, business laws, and data acess layers). I am stuck on how to send the image the user selects in the upload file control to the BLL and then to the DAL because the DAL does all the inserts into the database. I would like to be able to check the file type in the BLL to make sure the file being uploaded is indeed a picture. Is there a way I can send the location of the file to the BLL, check the filetype, then upload the file and have the DAL insert the image into the database? I have seen examples where people use streams to upload the file directly from their presentation layer, but I would like to keep everything seperated in the three classes if possible. I also wasn't sure what variable type the image would be in the function in the BLL that receive the image from the PL. If there are any examples or tips anyone can give me that would be appreciated.

Ok, the problem is that , i have a field called "Attach" in sql of type image, when selecting it , the field is getting data of type BYTE(). which am being unable to display them on an Image on the panel.

but in both above methods I have faced little problem when image display on my page all other information can not display and I also want to display picture on my specific location on the page. In my asp.net application I have a local report with an image control in thedetail row of the table and the Value attribute set as="File://" & Fields!FQPhotoFileName.ValueThe first row in the table always shows the wrong image and it's always thesame wrong image. The problem is there even when I change the sort order orthe criteria for the underlying dataset. For example, I ran a small testthat populated the dataset with 2 rows and 2 images. When I sort by anycolumn (e.g. ID) in ascending ascending order the ID=1 row (the 1st row)shows the wrong image and the ID=2 row shows the correct image. When I rerunthe report sorting in descending order the ID=2 row (which is now the 1strow) shows the wrong image and the ID=1 shows the correct image.Any suggestions?

my upload table has the folliwing feilds UploadId Int Identity, Description, FileName, DiskPath varchar(500), weblocation varchar(500). I have a main sproc for the report where i am doing a inner join with other table to get the path of the gif..

I have inherited a VS 2005 database with a table that has a column of type IMAGE. I need to change the image for one of the rows in the table. I have the new image in a *.PNG file on my C: drive. What is the correct method for inserting this file into the IMAGE column.
