After Replicating A Database, SP's In The Same Database Are Not Able To Modify By Other Users.
May 21, 2008
hi there,
After replicating a database, the stored procedures in that same database are not able to edit by other users than service account (sys admin users), When the normal users try to edit any of the stored procedures, sql server 2005 is throwing the following error...
Msg 21050, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSmerge_ddldispatcher, Line 12Only members of the sysadmin fixed server role or db_owner fixed database role can perform this operation. Contact an administrator with sufficient permissions to perform this operation.
I am trying to modify the files path (primary file, log file) of databases, but it looks like I am not able to mofidy their files path directly from the database property dialogue? Would please any experts here give me some ideas on what else can I try to figure it out? Thanks a lot in advance and I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly.
I am using Sql2000 and have 6 servers. On this 6 servers 4 servers have the same database
MY QUESTION is i need a script or advice that will help to do this:
Every time data chages in 1 of the 4 servers that have the same database, I want all changes to happen in the other 3 so that they must always have the same information
I have had this issue just pop up. I have local users who can connect fine, but my users that require connection by VPN cannot connect. I get the server not available or access denied error. I did confirm that the VPN'ers are connected to the network correctly and can see that their shares and mappings are correct. Any ideas? Thanking you all in advance!!
I want to replicate to an archive database. This means that the subscriber will have data that has been removed from the publisher. In my reading, I haven't seen any discussion of this specific scenario.
Here's what I imagine the solution might be:
EXEC sp_addpublication_snapshot @publication = N'My_Publication', @frequency_type = 1 -- only create the snapshot once GO
I set the publication snapshot to only execute once, that would be during the maintenance window when it is initially installed. Then, on the tables that will contain archived data, I specify that deletes aren't replicated.
Here's my concern: aren't there times when you need to resync?
If you could push a new snapshot that dropped the tables on the subscriber and built the thing up from scratch, then things would sync-up just fine. But in this scenario if you drop the subscriber tables then you've just lost your archive.
Hi there, actually I have a set of tables from my database model on SQL SERVER 2005 that I want to replicate (using merge replication) to a different server with SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS, Everything seems to be ok until I try so replicate just a portion of my model. I€™ve got some parent tables to replicate but I€™m not going to replicate some of their children, when I try to move them (just the parents and SOME children) to the other server using subscription, I have to erase some foreign keys (the children€™s foreign keys I wasn€™t supposed to migrate) in the target server to get my database migrated.
In a development server you take a backup and you want to move the entire database to a production server. The production server does not contain the database, users, or logins in master.
When you restore the backup to production in 7.0, the users get moved to DBO because the logins do not exist and then you cannot delete them.
We are having to drop the users from the database on development, back up the database and restore it to production, then recreate the users on production.
This is bogus and did not happen in 6.5 because of the aliases.
I need to implement SQL Reporting Services but do not wish to use the production database for running the reports against. I intend to set a seperate server for reporting services. The data only needs to be refreshed on a daily basis, during slient hours. What would be the best way to copy data from the production to the reporting services server?
How do you setup replication from SQL Server 2000 to a oracle database? We want to push changes from sql sever to oracle, evertime sql server table is changed. I have a working ODBC connection. When I try setting up a push to the oracle side I can not find the subscriber In the list. Can someone point me in a direction, with a detailed way of doing this.
I need to come up with a script that when executed it will create a stored procedure and trigger along with permissions. Is there a way to make this into a package. Any ideas?
Discovered that a geo-spatial AlwaysOn HA database (1 of 4) was not synchronizing as at a point in time earlier in the day. Â Suspend Data Movement appears to be working perpetually without finishing. Â The SQL Server services is in a Pending Changes state after an attempt to restart it from SQL Configuration Manager. Â The Cluster Dashboard says it is in a Not Synchronizing state, with only the one database in question having a yellow triangle, all 3 others show green. Â
The warning for the cluster is:At least one availability database on this availability replica has an unhealthy data synchronization state. If this is an asynchronous-commit availability replica, all availability databases should be in the SYNCHRONIZING state. If this is a synchronous-commit availability replica, all availability databases should be in the SYNCHRONIZED state. Â There is no abnormal data movement from the primary to the seconday. The warnings for the unhealthy database are:
The data synchronization state of this availability database is unhealthy. On an asynchronous-commit availability replica, every availability database should be in the SYNCHRONIZING state. On a synchronous-commit replica, every availability database should be in the SYNCHRONIZED state.Either a database administrator or the system has suspended data synchronization on this availability database. So how to get this database back to synchronizing state?
I am replicating an 80GB database between NY can CT and would like toknow why table sizes are different between the two. Here is an example of sp_spaceused::NY IOI_2007_04_23 rows(279,664) reserved(464,832)data(439,960) index_size(24,624)CT IOI_2007_04_23 rows(279,666) reserved(542,232)data(493,232) index_size(48,784)Thanks,
Client is running X- version of application and corresponding database size is huge. Now client's vendor is releasing Y-version of same application with many database schema changes (like new tables added, new columns added, renamed existing columns and etc) To upgrade to the Y-version, vendor is suggesting to my client that down the system and do the upgrade for application/database to Y-version. We are sure that this process will take days together to upgrade to the Y-version. My client is not ready to down the system for that long. So we are trying to find the solution with minimal down time. The approach we are thinking is,Â
1) Create the replicated database to another server (server2) from production server(server1) using golden gate with X-version
2) Create new tables/schema updated tables from Y-version database on same server1. Here for  Updated schema tables we are planning to use the name <table_name_Y_version> as the same table name exists in X-version.
3)With above 2 steps, golden gate replicate the changes from production to server1 and server1 will have the new Y-version table schema (with different concatenate name ' _Y_version'). BTW , there is no affect for the production
4) At this stage we are planning to find best approach, to fill the '<table_name>_Y_version' from X-version tables. two challenges here a) all data needs to be moved to Y-version tables b) they have to sync data in real time.
we thought of going to
a) ssis package to pump the data to Y-version tables, but real time data will not sync.
b) trigger based technique, previous experience said, lot of load
Hi, On Administrator session, I have created an CUSTOMER MSDE database. That's OK.
On user session, I want to access on my database CUSTOMER but I have on error : "Unable to connect to the database". And, in French : "Echec de la connexion de l'utilisateur Machine_Name/User_Name".
What is the error ? I don't know what to do any more. How to give right to the user ? Have you an idea ?
Windows XP SQL Expresss 2005 SQL Express 2005 Manager
I simply want to edit and data I have in a database that I made with Express Manager. This worked before .Net 2.0. Now, I have the table displayed as a datagrid with an "edit" pushbutton associated with each row in the database table. When I click on the "edit" pushbutton to edit a specific row in the database table, instead of posting me to a page where the chosen row is editable, I am posted back to the same page without the chosen row availible to be edited. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this? I am totally new to this so any help would be appreciated. I have replaced the installation of MSDE 1.0 with MSDE 2000.
Prior to installation of MSDE 2000, I can perform the activities of all database role. Now, I can only add, change and delete data - no more database design.
What should I do to regain database design permission?
I'm using "sa" user with blank password when I login to MS Access Project.
Hello, I have gone to work for a new company and I have seen this company is running out of drive space on a daily basis. The DBA before me created huge databases. For example we have a database that it's created size is 103 GB. Only about 52 GB is ever needed. I know you can resize the tempdb but how about user databases? I have never tried this. Can this be done for a user database?
For tempdb Start SQL from cmd line sqlserver -c -f -s%instance_name% alter databse tempdb modify file
I have 30+ databases in sql 2000. I want to dynalically loop though each of the databases and alter a column named 'EmpName' for all the 'Employees' tables in that database. Here is my attempt.use Master go declare @SQLString Nvarchar(1000) declare @DBName Nvarchar(100) declare @SQL2 NVARCHAR(1000)declare @TABLE_NAME NVarchar(100) DECLARE curDB CURSOR LOCAL FORWARD_ONLY STATIC FOR SELECT name FROM sysdatabases OPEN curDB FETCH NEXT FROM curDB INTO @dbname While @@FETCH_STATUS=0 Begin SET @SQL2 = 'USE ' + @DBNAME + ' ALTER TABLE ' + @TABLE_NAME + ' MODIFY EmpName varchar(100)' from information_schema.tables where table_type = 'BASE TABLE' and table_name like '%Employees%' PRINT @SQL2 EXECUTE SP_EXECUTESQL @SQL2 fetch next from curDB into @DBName end Close curDB End When i execute the above script in master, it says 'Query executed successfully' but when i see the all the Employees table in each of the database, the required change is not made. Can anybody explain this or give an alternate solution?
We are running into the following error while changing a column data type from nvarchar (1200) to varchar(8000) "Msg 1105, Level 17, State 2, Line 1
Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.TBL1 '.'PK_CL_ID' in database 'Client01' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.
The statement has been terminated."
Now tried to change the filegrowth of the log file to unlimited
ALTER DATABASE Client01 MODIFY FILE ( NAME = Client01_log, MAXSIZE = unlimited);
The query executes without error but I do not see the auto growth as unrestricted. It's still 2GB
I can run this command to make changes for 1 DB USE [master]
GO ALTER DATABASE [DBName] MODIFY FILE ( NAME = N'Name_log', FILEGROWTH = 10000KB ) GO
Is it possible to create a script which changes log file size to let's say 100MB for all DBs in all servers instead of running the above command by logging into each server? We have about 200 servers and close to 3000 DBs.
I need reflecting changes of csv file in oracle DB. Suppose, Â I load single csv file in oracle DB which contains 10 rows. After some time, I have loaded another CSV file which has the modified row of the previously loaded csv file. So, how can I capture the CSV changes and how it is going to get reflected in oracle DB?There is no unique column in csv file to identify particular row.
I am trying to replicated table A into table B withing the same server and the same database.
I am getting an error message when trying to configure the subscription: You have selected the Publisher as a Subscriber and entered a subscription database that is the same as the publishing database. Select another subscription database.
I copied a database from my production server to the development server and now i dont see the users in the database from the enterprise manager, database and users folder. But, When i run a query to against the sysuser table from a query analyser I can see those users here. Why cant I see in from the Enterprise manager. Any advice please..
Does anyone know a way to force out all users from a particular database? I need to script this to perform some maintenance at a particular time every day.
Is there a way in SQL to drop any users from a database. I am trying to schedule some nightly DB maintenance and some users are still in there sometimes. I need to be able to kick the out to do dbcc checkdbs, etc. Is there a way for me to do this without stopping the SQL services?
I restored a database from one full backup. The users are missing now in the new databse. When I try to create the same users again it says that they are already existing! Please help what shall I do to restore/recreate the users?Do I need to do anything with the Master?
I have a question regarding copying users from one server to another that are running different versions of Microsoft Sequel Server.
I have Server A running 6.5 version and Server B running 7.0 version. How can I copy just the list of users from Database1 on Server A to Database2 on Server B.
Ok I created a database SQL is the engine and Access XP is the gui. When the users try to access the databae they get error message, it opens up but they cant open the forms for some reason. I was wondering if this had to do with me have Access XP and them having Access 2000, but I highly doubt it because when I had a user log on to my machine (which has access xp) they still were not able to access the forms. Can someone help me out PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... this is so frustrating :(
One thing I'm noticing is that the users connection keeps dropping???
I have a number of user databases who have lost their owner. That is, displaying properties for the database says the owner is unknown.
I assume that any user for such a database that's assigned to the db_owner role can admin everything in this database? Which means that the lack of a dbo doesn't cause any other problem than making it impossible to run a sp_helpdb for the database, or...?
Of course I'd like to make someone the owner, but it seems difficult to make an already existing database user the owner, without dropping the user and re-creating it.
