Altering Table Definition On A Linked Server Table.
Aug 11, 2000
SQL Server 7.0 (SP1)
Error:
------
OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' supplied inconsistent metadata. An extra column was supplied during execution that was not found at compile time.
A column was deleted from the a table on the linked server and now this message appears when using the linked server definition to access the table. Deleting/Recreating the Linked Server has no effect. I found an earlier note on this...but it just kind of ended with no resolution. Anyone have any thoughts on this now.
I am using SQL Server 2005 and trying to create a linked server on Oracle 10. I used the commands below: EXEC sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'test1', @srvproduct = 'Oracle', @provider = 'MSDAORA', @datasrc = 'testsource' exec sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = 'test1', @useself = 'false', @rmtuser='sp', @rmtpassword='sp'
When I execute select * from test1...COUNTRY I get the error. "The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "...." does not contain the table "COUNTRY". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table." The 'sp' user I am connecting is the owner of the table. What could be the problem ? Thanks a lot.
I'm trying to do a simple alteration to the table design of one of ourSQL 2k tables, simply changing an identity row so that its not 'notfor replication', and its taking absolutely ages to do so, and stopsthe sql server from working.Whilst it's attempting the update, no one can access the database, thesqlservr.exe memory usage shoots up and enterprise manager reports anot responding status. Eventually after about 10 minutes, it bombs outreporting,Unable to modify tableCould not allocate space for object 'Tmp_TableName' in database'DBNAME' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. The table i'm attempting to change has only about 4000 records sothere's not a huge amount of data.Any ideas what's causing this and how i can get around it?A similar thing happens when i attempt to change the length of avarchar too. Thanks in advance for any suggestionsDan Williams.
The SP UserPersist_GetByCriteria does a "SELECT * FROM tbl_User WHERE gender = @Gender AND culture = @Culture", so why am I receiving this error when both tables have the same structure?
The error is being reported as coming from UserPersist_GetByCriteria on the "SELECT * FROM tbl_User" line.
Hi,Is it possible to reorder the table definition in a SQL 2005 table?Example : i want to put to table definition in alphabetical order. Thanks in advance
Strange one here - I am posting this in both SQL Server and Access forums
Access is telling me it can't append any of the records due to a key violation.
The query:
INSERT INTO dbo_Colors ( NameColorID, Application, Red, Green, Blue ) SELECT Colors_Access.NameColorID, Colors_Access.Application, Colors_Access.Red, Colors_Access.Green, Colors_Access.Blue FROM Colors_Access;
Colors_Access is linked from another MDB and dbo_Colors is linked from SQL Server 2000.
There are no indexes or foreign contraints on the SQL table. I have no relationships on the dbo_ table in my MDB. The query works if I append to another Access table. The datatypes all match between the two tables though the dbo_ tables has two additional fields not refrenced in the query.
I can manually append the records using cut and paste with no problems.
Hi, How to alter a table with default value? I am using the below statement, But, it is not working..Any pointers? Thx.. ------------------------------- alter table action_item ALTER COLUMN STATUS default 0
Hi! I've added a column to a published table in the Publisher using SP_REPLADDCOLUMN. After doing this the replication triggers for that table(i.e. del_%,upd_%,ins_%) are doubled both at the Publisher and at the Subscriber. If i update anyone of the column in the table at the Subscriber; i get the following error:
Server: Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure upd_3E6DE124B82D42A5AEB169557C0D757C, Line 60 Invalid object name 'ctsv_3E6DE124B82D42A5AEB169557C0D757C'.
Any ideas, what has gone wrong????
I have the following SQL setup. Publisher: Enterprise Edition, SP3. Subscriber: Standard-Edition, SP3. The error is at the Subscriber.
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question to, so if it's not, please accept my apologies.
I'm working in SQL Server 2005 with a database that was migrated to 2005 from SQL Server 2000. I have to alter a trigger on a table for some functionality changes, and when I modify the trigger and then access it through the application the database is working with, I receive this error:
There was a error in the [stored procedure name] procedure. Error Number: -2147217900 Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The definition of object '[trigger name]' has changed since it was compiled.
[stored procedure name] and [trigger name] are where the actual names appear in the message.
I've tried running sp_recompile on the trigger, stored procedure, and table that are associated with this, and nothing works. I have dropped the trigger, which allows the save process to complete (but doesn't perform the required functionality, of course), and then re-created the trigger, but the error message still comes up. The compatibility level for the database is SQL Server 2000 (80) (as it was migrated from SQL Server 2000 as I mentioned above).
Has anyone seen this, and if so, how can I fix it?
I'm wondering if an idea I'm playing with is feasible and if so, how you would recommend implementing it.
Let's say I have a Dictionary table, 2 columns:
Word | Definition
And I have a string - "The cat sat on the dog"
If there's a definition for "cat" in the dictionary table, I want to alter the string so it becomes "The >>cat<< sat on the dog"
At the same time, if there's also a definition for "dog" then my string now becomes "The >>Cat<< sat on the >>Dog<<"
The idea being that when I manipulate the data in my ASP I can replace() the >><< with specific HTML code. (I'm trying to recreate the "in text" advertising thing that lots of people seem to be using - but not doing adverts, just information for our users - Someone hovers over a highlighted word, and with a little bit of Ajax, I can pull the definition out...
I'm not sure (but I'm suspecting) that it would make more sense to do this as I'm storing the string in a table, rather than as I'm pulling it out ready for use (don't want to be slowing my end users down )
Altering a table which is having more than 100 million rows. Would like to know the best possible way to add a new column to this table without impacting the performance much.
I have a db1.tPersonJobHist where I have two columns
[WorkflowCoordinatorFlag] [dbo].[shrsFlag] NOT NULL, [HRBusinessPartnerCode] [dbo].[shrsCode] NULL,
Our developer mistakenly made HRbusinesspartnercode field as nullable. He now wants to change it to Not Nullable.
So there were 4 rows where the values were not null(not sure how). We edited those rows and changed those values to NUll. Now we have no Nulls in that column.
So we brought up the table designer and made the change but got the following error
'tPersonJobHist' table - Unable to modify table.
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'HRBusinessPartnerCode', table 'BD6578.dbo.Tmp_tPersonJobHist'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.
The statement has been terminated.
Question is why wouldn't it let me alter the table design. and what is tmp_tpersonjobhist.?
I'm trying to define a linked server using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Data Mining Services. MSDMine data provider is missing. Do you know where I can get this? Thanks in advance.
I'm have a Xeon 64bit proc. using SP2. And had installed:
SQLServer2005_ADOMD_x64.msi, SLQServer2005_ASOLEDB9_x64.msi,SQLServer2005_OLAPDM_x64.msi, and SQLServer2005_XMO_x64.msi.
I have set up a couple of views for a user but they want to be able to see the database table columns by doing right click on table and getting the columsn.
I tried to give the permissions to database by right clicking on database and doing the user and giving view defintion.
-- [TABLEA] contains no columns that can be inserted or the current user does not have permissions on that object.
I have a Live Database as well as the Test database with the same Definition
now i need to write a SQL to check identity of these two database tables,
i mean i need to check if the Test Database has got the Same Table definition as Live Database table definition ? In the same way how do i check for the Stored peocedures ?
I have a table (in Access) that is linked to the SQL server, and Ineed to add a column to it. I wrote the following:ALTER TABLE CensusADD COLUMN 'ActiveFacility' BIT;and I get a syntax error that I do not know how to solve. The columnneeds to contain yes/no data for each record.Any help for a struggling newbie? Thanks,Christine
We hear about catalog table in documentation but is this the same asdatabase schema? What is the definiation of catalog table? What does it pertain to?Thanks--Message posted via http://www.sqlmonster.com
Hi. We're using SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for maintaining a relational DB for our soon-to-be released .NET app. The problem is that we expect that the definitions of the tables in the DB to occasionally change over time as we make updates to the software. Thus, during the installation of a software upgrade, we expect to run an SQL script that grabs the data from a table in its "old" format, re-structures the table, and then deposits the data back in the updated table. This seems to require some sort of version stamp on the table definition.
My main question is: What is the conventional way for handling versioning of table definitions?
Another question is: Is there a preferred procedure for handling the updating of the data during the installation of a software update?
I am getting an insert error with the following SP. I don't have to pass the CampID because it is an IDENTITY field. The error says "number of supplied values does not match table definition."
Do I pass in the CampID to the SP and allow nulls? Thanks in advance
Im very very new to sql server world..wanted to know what kind of indexes to be created on the below mentioned table columns for making this view run fastly. As of now there are no indexes created on these view definition columns
CREATE View hrinu.Parity as select T1.Matcle as CorpID, T2.Nmpres as Name, T4.DATDEB as LeaveFrom, T4.TEMDEB as PM, T4.DATFIN as LeaveTo, T4.TEMFIN as AM, T10.LIBLON as LeaveType, T8.LIBLON as Location, T12.LIBLON as ParentOrg
from HRINU.zy00 T1, HRINU.zy3y T2, HRINU.zy39 T3, HRINU.zyag T4, HRINU.zy38 T5, HRINU.zy1s T6, HRINU.zd00 T7, HRINU.zd01 T8, HRINU.zd00 T9, HRINU.zd01 T10, HRINU.zd00 T11, HRINU.zd01 T12 where T4.Nudoss = T3.nudoss and T4.Nudoss = T1.Nudoss and T1.Nudoss = T2.nudoss and T3.nudoss = T5.nudoss and T6.nudoss = T1.nudoss AND T7.NUDOSS = T8.NUDOSS AND T9.NUDOSS = T10.NUDOSS AND T11.NUDOSS = T12.NUDOSS AND T3.IDWKLO = T7.CDCODE AND T4.MOTIFA = T9.CDCODE AND T5.IDESTA = T11.CDCODE and T6.stempl = 'A' and t7.cdstco = 'z04' AND T8.CDLANG = 'U' and t9.cdstco = 'DSJ' AND T10.CDLANG= 'U' and t11.cdstco= 'DRE' AND T12.CDLANG= 'U' and T4.DATDEB <= T3.DTEN00 and T4.DATFIN >= T3.DTEF00 and T3.DTEN00 <= T5.DTEN00 and T3.DTEN00 >= T5.DTEF00 and T6.dtef1s <= getdate() and T6.datxxx > getdate()
Also Please suggest me some links where i can get info about the indexes that has to be created on these types of queries where joins are involved on these many tables. Also throw some light on how to analyse the execution plan for further enhancements.
Please could you tell me how big sql tables are when people refer to them as small, medium and large? Preferably in terms of disk space or rows (each row in my table will contain a standard length job advert and 20 additional columns with an average of 8 characters)
I have two tables that share a common identity row. I need to build a query where data that exists in one table does not contain data in the other table. For example, table 1 has columns of Owner_ID, LastName, FirstName and table 2 has columns Auto_ID, Owner_ID, AutoMake. Both tables are joined by the Owner_ID column. I need a query that provides all owners from table 1 who do not have an entry in table 2.
I have a table names Alert_Event and a new column named BSP_Phone has been added to the table. I am trying to set NULL values to the column and I get the below error. I am setting null values in the bolded text in the query.
Error Message:
Msg 213, Level 16, State 1, Procedure SaveBSPOutageInfo, Line 22 Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.USE [gg] GO

I'm trying to move my current use of an sql 2000 db to sql 2005.
I need to update a table definition (to change a field to an Identity)
I'm getting a dialog box (in SQL server management studio) on save saying :
'xxxx' table
- Saving Definition Changes to tables with large amounts of data could take a considerable amount of time. While changes are being saved, table data will not be accessible.
I press 'Yes' to the dialog box.
After 35 seconds, I get another dialog box saying:
'xxxx' table
- Unable to modify table.
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
Well, the server is responding and I can query that talbe and other, I can add/delete rows to other columns. I can modify other (smaller) tables.
Table2 has three columns (i.e. Date, Count and Rule Type). Column “Rule Type “has a default value which is “XYZ”..Now I want to insert Data from Table1 to Table2. I am using following query:-
Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.I am using SQL 2012. I understand Table1 has 2 Columns but Table2 has 3 Columns. Is there anyway, I can move data from source table to Destination table where Destination Table has more number of Columns?
