Dec 19, 2005Hi all,Since yesterday I'm unable to lauch the enterprise manager, it givesthe following error :Unhandled exception at 0x0101f07e in mmc.exe: 0xC0000005: Accessviolation reading location 0x00000064.The weird thing is that except installing the office xp PIA's I can'timage what else could be changed on my system.I tried reinstalling, but still the same error.I tried SP3a, still nothing changed.Searched in some groups and it seems that not much can be found aboutit, so my inspiration is running dry.Anyone had this problem ? Embedded SQL Server Express Deployment - Unhandled Exception: Database Already Exists
Mar 7, 2007Good Afternoon.
I am trying to write a short application within which I would like to embed a SQL Server Express database, all of which would be deployed via ClickOnce through a web site. The installation process seems to be working without trouble, including installation of the .NET Framework 2.0 and SQL Server Express 2005.
When the application launches on the new machine, however, I get a big Microsoft .NET Framework "Unhandled exception" error dialog box that indicates the database already exists and that the database file could not be attached. I am working with a clean virtual machine that I know has never had the database installed on it.
I fear I am overlooking something quite straightforward, but since this is the first time I have ever attempted to build a data-bound application, I am not sure where I am going wrong.
Perhaps the source of the problem, or a related problem, might be revealed even when I run the application in debug mode from within Visual Studio. I can run the application once, but if I try to run it again, I get an error when I try to open the database connection that is similar in content (database already exists...could not attach). I can run the SSEUtil and detach the database and then run the application again in debug mode and it works no problem (the first time!).
Lastly, if I install the application on the machine on which it was developed and make sure the database is detached, it will run without any trouble (even repeatedly). But, on a new blank machine, there is no database listed that matches my database name, so I cannot try to detach anything!?

Background:
This could be a simple C++ issue as I am not that familiar with the language. I am trying to prototype a small program to test the performance of inserting data using the BCP interface. I want to BCP data that my program generates and passes via program variables.
I have narrowed the issue down to a sprintf call. Following are two variations of the code - one that works and one that does not. The error happens when I try to execute the bcp_sendrow() call.
What is the appropriate way to create / send string data to the BCP interface. Any good examples available? I have created the following from the BulkCopyFromVariables example on the Microsoft SQL Server downloads site.

Synchronization Exception Occurred

I recently installed the Technical Refresh for SPS v2. Now I keep getting an error in the application log that says " Synchronization exception occurred" . This occurs every 30 seconds since the technical refresh install.
Has anybody been in this situation and actually resolved it?

I have an existing database where I am making a copy of an old row, and updatting date/time fields. The old fields were filled with date/time and the columns are datetime columns.

If I include the two redlines of code, I recieve a time overflow exception WHEN UPDATING THE TABLE. Those database fields are datetime fields and the orginal rows have datetimes in them.
Does anyone understand what is happening?

Aug 29, 2007I am getting SQLException when I connect SQL Server 2005. I would like to know how to correct this problem.
I get this error randomly. Never seenit before. Sometimes I get this error one day later from application begins, sometimes two days later, sometimes 3 day later.

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A floating point exception occurred in the
user process. Current transaction is canceled. at
System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Update(DataRow[] dataRows, DataTableMapping
tableMapping) at ...etc etc
when updating one particular table, but not when updating another using nearly the same code.
I've searched and searched on the inet, but with no joy.
Microsoft have several different manifestations of it, under various
different circumstances, but the solutions all seem to involve
installing SP4, which by the looks of it is a massive procedure that
you have to go to university to be competent to do.
In any case, according to Enterprise Manager, I already have SP4
included. On the other hand, the one file of mine I checked the date of
against MS's hotfix file list was 2002 not 2003, so who knows?
My Service Manager is v 8.00.760, and it's the Development Edition (ie it's all running on the one machine).
According to the info on sqlDataAdaptor.update, the
sqlError that gets returned as part of the sqlException contains
fields Class, which gives the seriousness of the error, and State,
which identifies the exact error. I get Class=16 (user-fixable)
and State=1, which we have to go to SQL Books Online to discover the
meaning of. SQL BO probably sounded like a good idea to W.Gates,
but it took me half an hour to get anywhere near finding out what that
'1' meant. When I did, it was (guess): 'A floating point
exception occurred in the user process. Current transaction is
canceled.' !!!
Can anyone please tell me what exactly might be causing the error?

Jul 18, 2006I gave up on the ScriptTasks, but desided to use Custom tasks instead. Problem again. My code opens a 400M file and reads it line by line using StreamReader. Each line is approximately the same length. For each line, there is some processing, and then the line is written into another file using StreamWriter. I am watching the DtsDebugHost process with TaskManager open and here is what happens:
Initially its all good. Then when it read through first 150M+ of the input file, the memory usage of the DtsDebugHost shoots up dramatically - about 1Gig (both virtual and physical memory). Then the task fails with OutOfMemoryException. I thought the problem is with my code, but it still happens even if I only read a line from one file and write it to another, without any processing!
When I invoke the same code from Execute Process task, its all good - no problems at all whatsoever.
Any ideas?

It is a Windows Mobile application so I am using Sql Server Compact 3.5 with Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2. When I try and insert a new row into one of my tables, the app throws the error message shown in the title of this topic.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong, all of the code I used I retreived from Microsofts help documentation included with VS2008. I have tried used my TableAdapter.Insert() method and it still failed when it got to
if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)
in my refreshDatabase() method it still failed.
When I look, the data has been added into the database, it's just when I try to retreive it now, it bails on me. Am I retreiving the information wrong?

I got an strange problem with one of my packages.
When running the package in VisualStudio it runs properly, but if I let this package run as part of an SQL-Server Agent job, I got the message "The script threw an exception: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown." on my log and the package ends up with an error.
Both times it is exactly the same package on the same server, so I don't know how the debug or even if there is anything I need to debug?

Unhandled InvalidOperationException
Dec 18, 2005I have a database table called Qlinks, with two columns, URL and Name. This table is displayed on a form also called qlinks, in a details view. When I try to save data after i've deleted a row of the table, O get a yellow po-up telling me that the InvalidOperationException was unhandled. The error is "Update requires a valid DeleteCommand when passed DataRow collection with deleted rows." Please try to help, I am just a beginning programmer who doesn't know much. First I created a class project containing a simple function
I built the project and added it as a reference in a smart device project (as a dll file)
The problem is when trying to use this dll reference I get this message (in a message box):

Win32 DLL Reloaded !
Aug 1, 2007I'm trying to debug some CLR UDTs that uses unsafe acess to a win32 dll, I'm modifying both the win32 DLL and the UDTs DLL at the same time.
To let SQL server load the win32 DLL I've put ot into the ...Binn directory, all worked ok. Now I want to update the win32 DLL... and here cames troubles :
- I've tied to stop sqlserver / overwrite DLL / start sqlserver, but does not works. The DLL is also 'overwiteable' while SQL server is using it... this makes me think that sqlserver stores the win32 DLL in other places (maybe inside the DB) and does not uses the original one in the Binn dir
- I've tried to reload the CLR assembly, doen't works
- I've also tried to drop and recreate the assembly and doesn't works too... anyway this is not even possible in a production server since it would require me to drop all tables that uses the UDTs.
(does't works means that the win32 DLL behavior is the same)
Anyone knows how to do this basic task ?

Nov 13, 2006New to SQL Server installations. I downloaded the SQL Server Express with Advanced; when I double click the Setup.exe, I get a pop-up "document path/file is not a valid Win32 application". I upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro SP2.0. Any suggestions?

I have a problem is that I cannot perform the transacional replication from one server (ms-sql2k) to other server (mssqlserver).
The error show below :
Log Reader Agent - Is not a valid win32 application.
I try to setup another server (mssql2k) to do the same thing, there is no error appeared.
Therefore, I have doubt that the name of the computer using "-" will have problem. Or the registry of (ms-sql2k) may have problem because it had wrongly installed personal edition and re-installed the standard verions afterwards.
Can anyone tell me the root of the problem ?

I wanted to know if there is a way to connect to my MSSQL without having to setup a datasource in the control panel.
Perferably I want to locate the database within my perl code instead. I don't want to have to setup a datasource each time I need a different database. Perhaps there is a way to pass the name of the database along with the username and password through the command line.
Any suggestions?

Jan 1, 2008Ok..So the story is I'm trying to install a SQL Server 2005 SP2 upgrade from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=d07219b2-1e23-49c8-8f0c-63fa18f26d3a&DisplayLang=en
I'm sure my computer is either x64 or ia64, and I have downloaded both the installation files but both of them give me the same error, when the installation bar at the start is pretty much full, it gives me a "hotfix.exe is not a valid Win32 application." error.
And instead of installing it to the usual C: directory, it installs to the F: directory..And it does not give me an option to choose which directory I want to install it into..
My operating system is a Windows XP Pro..
Hope somebody can help me out soon..

i'm trying to install MS SQL 2005 Enterprise Evaluation Edition, on my Win XP Pro SP2 (Intel Centrino 1.73Ghz, 1GB RAM)... i have downloaded the self-extractable file (SQLEVALX64.EXE) from MS website... After extracting this file to a folder and clicking on "setup.exe" - resulting in "setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application" error message...
What wrong in my installation...

Win32 Error:-2146893813 With SQL 2005 On XP
Aug 6, 2007I'm not exactly sure when this error occured, as I typically access databases running on a server. However, I've recently encountered this error when trying to access my local instance of SQL Server 2005 Developer edition. I'm assuming it's due to a recent windows update.
The dialog box that comes up with this error is titled: Microsoft .NET Framework
The full error is: System.Exception: CryptUnprotectData: Win32 error:-2146893813
Any ideas on what happened and how to fix this?
