What does this error mean? I get this in the transmission_status column of sys.transmission_queue
An error occurred while receiving data: '10053(An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.)'.
Also, does the number in this message correspond to error 10053 in sys.messages?

We are getting a problem when the below error Log
Server: SQL Server 2005 and SP1.
Then, All the Web Servers will drop all connections and stop the network service. Later, the network service will start up automatically but all the before service is dropped.
We would like to know the error coming from?

If you connect to a server and open a query in SQL Managment studio (2005) and looses connection and then regain the connection, when you try to run the query it gives me a "TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host." This happens against both 2005 and 2000 servers. If I re-run the query it works. However, this happens in our VB.NET app as well for clients with Wireless connections. So, something has changed in Framework 2.0 regarding this, does anyone know how to tell the client to not throw this error and just try connecting the server instead which will work?

I use ADO.NET 2.0 to access sql2000 database. during the whole process, I need stop sql server service which the program is connecting. my setup is like following:
1.Open a conection to access table and then close the connection;
2.restart sql server service ;
3.Re-open a connection to access table and then an exception was thrown out:

4. try re-open a connection to access table and then no exception was thrown out.

I am getting this error in Enterprise Manager:

But, my web app can still connect just fine to the db, so it's still in
the same place with the same login/password. And my registration
in EM was working just fine (for years) until yesterday I got this

I have set up SB between 2 databases, and I keep geting a variety of error messages in the queue on both sides. The first is:
An error occurred while receiving data: '10054(error not found)'.
And on the other side its
Service Broker received an error message on this conversation. Service Broker will not transmit the message; it will be held until the application ends the conversation.
The only difference between this and the tutorials is that the TCP port have been moved to 4321 instead of 4022, and this has been done both sides, because something else was blocking the 4022 port. This one is definately free on both sides. I have recreated the certificates, the users, the end points, the queues and the services multiple times, and checked them all in the sys.routes etc and they all seem fine.
I do also get a message in the queue that I can receive sometimes that tells me I don't have rights to the service on the other machine. I can send a message to itself and it doesn't complain.
Both machines are on the same domain, and I have also tried to grant rights to public to no avail.

On my computer (WinXP En Prof SP2) I have installed SQL Express 2005 with instance name "SQL2005". Mixed Mode.
I allowed Remote connection to this DB server, enabling TCP/IP protocol on port 1433.
Also SQL Browser is set to autostart.
My firewall is off.
When I try to connect to this server through the CMDline, I use:
sqlcmd -S testpcsql2005 -U sa -P test
I only get: "Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client: Client unable to establish connection due to prelogin failure"
If I use:
sqlcmd -S testpcsql2005 -U sa -P asdfghjkl (or any password)
the result will be the same.
If I try to connect to the server through the Management Studio, I just get:
"A connection was succesfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error:0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10054)"
or
"A connection was succesfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error:0 - An established connection was aborted byt the software in your machine.)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10053)"
Next I have installed the new DB on new computer (WinXP En Prof SP2) with the same options (using unattended installation in CMD line) and on this computer it works. It means, that I can establish remote connections to that server with any problems.
I have search on internet to solve this problem bud a I didn't find the solution. I found, that this error relates to winsock layer - WSAECONNABORTED(10053) and WSAECONNRESET(10054) error codes.
But I still don't know, how to solve this and remotely connect to my DB Server...

When I try localy connect - it doesn't work, of course.
When I try remotely connect:
"sqlcmd -L" shows, that exists "testpcsql2005"
"sqlcmd -S testpcsql2005 -U sa -P asdfghjkl" (or any password) generate the same Error as before - nothing changed
Is it problem of MS SQL Server or MS Windows? How to solve this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst off I understand that it is a horrible idea to run extremely large/long running reports, but sometimes it ends up being the best possible solution due to external forces.
I've got a 25,000 page report that we recently converted from crystal reports to SSRS. The SSRS server is a 64bit 2003 server with 32 gigs of ram running SSRS 2005. When running the report through the report manager web application, it renders in the browser/viewer after about 12 minutes. Exporting to pdf through the browser/viewer in the report manager takes an additional 55 minutes. It does work and it produces a whopping 1.03gb pdf.
Unfortunately, I've run into a problem when trying to do this from a console application using the SSRS client API. After about 30-35 minutes I get an exception on the client with the following error:
Exception Message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
InnerException = Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

set the HttpRuntime ExecutionTimeout value to 3 hours on the report server
disabled http keep alives on the report server
increased the script timeout on the report server
set the report to never time out on the server
set the report timeout to several hours on the client call
Disabled antivirus on the client side, and verified there was no antivirus running on the reporting server.
Tried using default credentials in the ReportingService object as opposed to supplying credentailsAny ideas would be appreciated. I understand the best solution is to split the report up into smaller reports, which is the backup option, but being able to keep it as one report is the goal.

For a long time I've had SQL Server 2000 with RS on a Server2003 machine.
When I want to publish a report from my Dev box, I remove anon. access on the Production machine, deploy the report, then go into report manager to tweak a couple of parameters. I then re-enable anon. access so users can continue.
Yesterday, I removed anon. access and deployed the report but when I went into Report Manager I received the above error message... "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."
I can get into report manager with anonymous access enabled, but I don't have authority to do anything.
What's happened!!!? More importantly, how do I fix it?

I am stuck with error: An error occurred while receiving data: '64(error not found)'.
My Service Broker configuration:
Server A initiator,
Server B target.
Server A sends message to Server B, Server B sends back reply.
On this stage I receive problem. Server B message does not come to server A.
It stays on sys.transmission_queue on server B.
This problem occurs only during initial setup. During initial setup, on Server B messages, queues, services, contracts, routes, bindings are created. On Server A: routes and bindings. As a last step, a message is sent to Server B.
So, reply on this message never comes. Initial setup is run using procedure with execute as €˜owner€™, owner=€™dbo€™.
But, whenever I send messages after that, everything works fine.
Any suggestions?

We are using Service Broker to synchronise two databases using async triggers (using a middle server to preform data mapping processing). We are re-using dialogs as we want to ensure order when sending messages which contain the data to be synced. A dialog is created between each intiator and target service (there are 3 of each) which is kept open indefinately (we are only ending conversation upon receiving an end conversation message or error message).
We seem to get it working for a period then after about 1 hour it seems to stop sending and we see the following error in SQL Profiler:
An error occurred while receiving data: '64(error not found)'
Any ideas what could be causing this? We do not see any errors or end conversations. It seems to happen at irregular points.
Any idea of what this means?
My acknowledgement messages are getting stuck in sys.transmission_queue. In profiler, the message generated by the target server (the one sending the ack) is:
This message could not be delivered because it is a duplicate.
The result of the function GET_TRANSMISSION_STATUS is
An error occurred while receiving data: '121(The semaphore timeout period has expired.)'.
Each time I send a new mesage I get one record in sys.conversation_endpoints and two in sys.transmission_queue. The two records in the transmission_queue are the same except one has a NULL for the message body and is_end_of_dialog=1
If I try to clean out the queues they re-populate (I guess becasue the initiator keeps re-trying the message?)
I have double checked my routes back to the initiator and they seem correct (see below). In fact, a second server is using an identical route and it is working OK.
The only thing tricky on this machine is added a second message queue for a differnet kind of message, and it is replying to a different service broker instance. In other words, on server A, database "Production" sends a message to server B, database "Destination" and Server A, database "Schedule" also sends a message to server B, database "Destination".
In the respective return routes I have double checked the guid for the broker_instance.
The broker_instance value in each return route is right out of server A's sys.databses view:

am trying to run a stored procedure which retreives 3 lakhs of records
and updates the data and moves few of those records to some tables.
Since the number of records are more , the time taken for the storede
procedure is around 30 minutes when i directly execute it in query
analyzer.
But I need to execute it from Visula Studio.Net 2005
(c#). Whole of the application contains only one form with a single
button.When I click on the button , this stored procure has to be
executed. But I am getting an error as shown below.

Database used is SqlServer 2000

Our system administrators have renamed the server that our Reporting Service 2000 runs on. The database that RS2000 uses is on the same server.
Now when I navigate to the Report Manager, the following error appears:
The underlying connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved
Obviously I need to tell Reporting Services 2000 the name of the new server (even though it's just the same server??). Where do I do that?

I am trying to setup SQL Server 2000 Reporting services with an SSL connection. The SQL Server (Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard) and Reporting Server (Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Standard) are on separate machines. I have tried setting up Certificates from both and Stand-Alone and Enterprise CA. I have tried several combinations of the Issue To name (server | server.company | server.company.local) I have modified the rsWebApplication.config and rsReportServer.config to match the certificate€™s Issue to exactly. I have tried installs with both Domain Accounts and NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM logins. I have managed to get https://server/ReportServer to work but I have had no luck with the report manager https://server/reports. How do I fix this error?

We've devoted a resource to this today, but I have to believe it's something easy that we're overlooking. The scneario is that we have a production Web application that until last weekend had a SQL 2000 back end. This weekend we installed a new instance of SQL 2005 and everything works (we tested in a sandbox environment, but someone must not have load tested enough) and never saw these exceptions. So, after the upgrade we now receive 100's of thexe SQL excptions per day:A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. I get the following error and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting it. Initially, I had placed my project under wwwroot folder and ran it under IIS and it gave this error. Then I moved it to my local C drive and same thing. I am sharing this project with two other co-workers and all our config files and code files are same...they don't get this error but I do. I checked that SQL Server Client Network Utility has TCP/IP and the 'Named Pipes' enabled. I thought maybe I have setting in the Visual Studio 2005 that I'm not aware of that's causing this problem...it can't be the server since my co-workers aren't having this error and can't be anything in the code since all of us are sharing this project through vss. I dont' think using different version of .net framework can create this error. I changed the version from 2.0 to use 1.1x and it gave same error... Any help would be greatly appreciated. 4) To transfer data, first:Select the database in the VWD solution explorer, then right-click and select the new "Publish to Provider" 4a) Database Publishing Wizard 4b) Choose table to script a backup from 4c) Build script & Copy
5) Start Ipswitch FTP ( this step can be rplaced by 6e below) 5a) locate folder & sql script file and choose destination directory 5b) Transfer file

Hi,I need some help. I am getting this error after I complete the asp.net register control and click on the continue button. It crashed when it tries to get it calls this Profile property((string)(this.GetPropertyValue("Address1")));When I look at the stack, it is coming from my ProfileWrapper class which adds user address, city, etc.. from a class which inherits fromSystem.Web.Profile.ProfileBase. From the stack, it is calling the System.Web.Profile and crashed when it tries to open a connection atSystem.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.GetConnection(DbConnection owningObject). I already migrated all aspnet_user, aspnet_roles, etc.. and don't get any connection errors. It is only when I try to get the profile data. We have a mature instance of SQL Server 2000 reporting services that has stopped working for no apparent reason. When browsing to http://reportserver/reports we receive the following error

The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

The installation is running on three servers - 1 sql cluster (sql 2000 sp4) and two IIS servers all running windows 2000 sp4.
The Reportserver website runs using identity impersonation using the .net machine.config file pointing to an encrypted registry key entry holding the userid and password. It has been moved from the default website to it's own website but has been working with no issues for years. No obvious patches have been applied or security changes made that could effect the application
When browsing to http://reportserver/reportserver we can view the loaded reports and even run them with no issues, only ther report manager isn't working.
I have tried changing the impersonation registry key ( using aspnet_setreg ) and the account the reportserver web service runs under ( using the rsconfig utiltity) to be a domain admin to no effect and I have checked and set specififc permission for the reportserver database on all registry keys to no effect.
None of the online solutions for this issue have worked for me. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Got this error running a query with ssms2014
on SqlServer2014
but db has Compatibiliy level 100 (sql2008)
no sql error code in message and no error found in eventviewr (sqlserver log, windows log, application log ecc)when i run that query i got this message in "messages" tab, and in results tab i got a strange result, indeed the value returned doesn't exists in table.
ex table1.field1 possible values= 2,3
it returns 1113344
we got that error thru jdbc too...that query use a lot of joins, unfortunatley i can't post it here. today got this error, so i make a copy of 1 of involved table into another db in the same instance, re run the query on the original db, and it works well.
