An Unexpected Error Occurred File 'mddiscretizer.cpp'
Jul 9, 2007
Hey guys,
I'm not sure if this one should be addresses to the data mining team or the analysis services team, but I first encountered this error while attempting to process a Naive Bayes mining model that has a column with only a couple of distinct values in it. I set the discretization method for the column to clusters and then tried to process the model. The processing completed with failures and complained that the column had too few distinct values to apply the selected discretization.
I have now also noticed that when I attempt to process an OLAP cube that has the same column as a measure group in it the cube processing fails with the following error:
[Analysis Services Execute DDL Task] Error: Internal error: An unexpected error occurred (file 'mddiscretizer.cpp', line 1532, function 'MDDiscretizer::GetBucketForValue').
what can cause the above error when connecting to an endpoint via a c# app? the app, and sql are both on my machine ( im just doing this for test purposes and to learn something new.)
I've got this error coming up while running the sql job for AS processing. I can't find anything about it on google or anywhere else. Has anyone had issues like this?

First off I understand that it is a horrible idea to run extremely large/long running reports, but sometimes it ends up being the best possible solution due to external forces.
I've got a 25,000 page report that we recently converted from crystal reports to SSRS. The SSRS server is a 64bit 2003 server with 32 gigs of ram running SSRS 2005. When running the report through the report manager web application, it renders in the browser/viewer after about 12 minutes. Exporting to pdf through the browser/viewer in the report manager takes an additional 55 minutes. It does work and it produces a whopping 1.03gb pdf.
Unfortunately, I've run into a problem when trying to do this from a console application using the SSRS client API. After about 30-35 minutes I get an exception on the client with the following error: Exception Message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. InnerException = Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Here is the api call:
Code Snippet
byte[] m_data = reportingService.Render(this.ReportPath, this.ExportFormat, null, deviceInfo, selectedParameters, null, null, out encoding, out m_mimeType,
out usedParameters, out warnings, out streamIds); Here are some things I've tried so far:
set the HttpRuntime ExecutionTimeout value to 3 hours on the report server disabled http keep alives on the report server increased the script timeout on the report server set the report to never time out on the server set the report timeout to several hours on the client call Disabled antivirus on the client side, and verified there was no antivirus running on the reporting server. Tried using default credentials in the ReportingService object as opposed to supplying credentailsAny ideas would be appreciated. I understand the best solution is to split the report up into smaller reports, which is the backup option, but being able to keep it as one report is the goal.
I have a distributed environment with SQL Server 2005 SP2 (RTM) running on one server. This server holds the databases for SharePoint and Reporting Services. I then have SharePoint 3.0 (32-bit version) with the reporting services add-in installed on a second server. I installed the sharepoint object model (64-bit version) on the database server as suggested and have configured Reporting Services to use domain user accounts. The Reporting Services configuration tool is reporting that integration has been successfully set up but I am unable to access the "Set Server Defaults" page without an error. This is the error I receive:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.
For a long time I've had SQL Server 2000 with RS on a Server2003 machine. When I want to publish a report from my Dev box, I remove anon. access on the Production machine, deploy the report, then go into report manager to tweak a couple of parameters. I then re-enable anon. access so users can continue.
Yesterday, I removed anon. access and deployed the report but when I went into Report Manager I received the above error message... "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."
I can get into report manager with anonymous access enabled, but I don't have authority to do anything.
What's happened!!!? More importantly, how do I fix it?
I'm getting the following error from a few hosts that are querying a db in SQL Server 2005. The error has occurred while executing various queries that we would expect to return various sized result sets (from a couple rows to a couple million rows). Many hosts have never experienced the error but it is occurring fairly frequently on a couple.
using Windows Server 2003 on both the jdbc client and the DB host.
using jdbc driver from sqljdbc_1.1
netstat doesnt increment the TCP connection reset count after this error occurs.
using standard sql server authentication.

I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:

Below is the test data and my query. Basically i am trying to get the File records along with if any error messages occurred. I am getting the output as expected but the message column has "," at the front and sometime at the end of the column. How do i avoid that.

Hello all, I am running into an interesting scenario on my desktop. I'm running developer edition on Windows XP Professional (9.00.3042.00 SP2 Developer Edition). OS is autopatched via corporate policy and I saw some patches go in last week. This machine is also a hand-me-down so I don't have a clean install of the databases on the machine but I am local admin.
So, starting last week after a forced remote reboot (also a policy) I noticed a few of the databases didn't start back up. I chalked it up to the hard shutdown and went along my merry way. Friday however I know I shut my machine down nicely and this morning when I booted up, I was in the same state I was last Wenesday. 7 of the 18 databases on my machine came up with
FCB:pen: Operating system error 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) occurred while creating or opening file 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation. and it also logs FCB:pen failed: Could not open file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.).
I've caught references to the auto close feature being a possible culprit, no dice as the databases in question are set to False. Recovery mode varies on the databases from Simple to Full. If I cycle the SQL Server service, whatever transient issue it was having with those files is gone. As much as I'd love to disable the virus scanner, network security would not be amused. The data and log files appear to have the same permissions as unaffected database files. Nothing's set to read only or archive as I've caught on other forums as possible gremlins. I have sufficient disk space and the databases are set for unrestricted growth.
Any thoughts on what I could look at? If it was everything coming up in RECOVERY_PENDING it's make more sense to me than a hit or miss type of thing I'm experiencing now.
I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit): Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
when i am running bulk insert from codebehind but have a error =
"Unexpected end-of-file (EOF) encountered in data file. OLE DB provider 'STREAM' reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error. OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'STREAM' IRowset::GetNextRows returned 0x80004005: The provider did not give any information about the error.]. The statement has been terminated."
I'm getting this message on a replication distribution task after a successful SYNC task. The exact error message is: " Unexpected EOF encountered in BCP data-file.Failed while bulk copying into '
' " I'm running SQL 6.5 Sp4. I tried recreating the article, resyncing and redistributing, with no luck. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated
I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition onto a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine, but unfortunately each time that I attempt to install I receive an error message in the summary log as follows:
Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Product Version: 9.00.1399.06 Install : Failed Log File : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup Last Action : InstallFinalize Error String : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Updating Installed Files. The error is : Fatal error during installation. Error Number : 29528
There is probably a simple solution for the issue but unfortunately I am unaware of what it is? I can€™t tell if the issue is specific to registry settings, security, file types, etc€¦ The information below surrounds the error w/in the log, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

We have reports deployed in the Report Server. While connecting from client, we are getting the error "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. rsInternal Error)"
Then we went to Report Server, Reporting Service and SQL Server service are all are running fine.
Important thing is some time the reports are working fine, sometimes i am receiving this error. Please help.
We predict whether the services are automatically restarted or transaction logs exceeding the limit or any other parameters to set to avaoid this error?
I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:
<ESDU releaselevel="2006-02" createdate="26 May 2006"><package id="1" title="_standard" shorttitle="_standard" filename="pk_stan" supplementdate="01/05/2005" supplementlevel="1">
This package contains the standard ESDU Series.
There is only 1 ESDU root element and only 1 package element.
Of course, the XSLT stylesheet is also an XML document in its own right. I specify it directly in the XML Task:

I created a few DTS packages in our Test Server saving them as file.dts. When I try to open them in from the production server I get an Unexpected error and the DTS is not opened. Do you have any fresh idea for me, please? Thanks!! :)
I posted this to microsoft.public.sqlserver.programming, but no onecould answer my question. So I think it is a good place to re-post myquestion here.My question:I found that if you do not include any effective SQL statement betweenBEGIN/END block, SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer will think it is anerror:Server: Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 6Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'end'.if 1=1select getdate()elsebegin--select 'ok'endIs this behavior a SQL standard or simply a M$ standard glitch?
I have a SSIS job which takes a SQL Server view as its source and outputs a flat file. The file is quite large, about 20000 rows of 30 columns and up to 400 characters per row. It is configured with CRLF at the end of each line, tabs between columns, and no header row. Most rows are output with no problems, but occasionally a line will include a line break (CRLF) in the middle. The problem appears random, but the rows with spurious CRLFs appear in clusters, with each row in the cluster having a line break after the same column. To illustrate, it looks something like this:
col1 col2 ... col 30 col1 col2 ... col 30 col1 col2 ... col 24 CRLF col25 col 26 ... col 30 col1 col2 ... col 24 CRLF col25 col 26 ... col 30 col1 col2 ... col 30 col1 col2 ... col 30
So although there is some pattern, where a group of lines will include a break in the same place, I've not been able to identify the pattern and relate it back to the data items.
What could possibly cause CRLFs to spontaneously appear midway through the row?
Hi,My code worked fine before i placed "SqlTransaction" command in my code. Now it is showing "Unexpected existing transaction." Please tell me where I am going wrong. My Code:

I have W2K Adv, SQL 7 Enterprise in a workgroup with mixed security. The SQL installation is an almost entirely default install.
At the console, in SQL Enterprise Manager, when I select open a database, open tables, select a table, open table, and select all rows the system displays "an unexpected error happened during this operation". As far as I know this has never worked on this installation.
The error occurs with every logon account (including sa and local administrator accounts), both the "all rows or top row" options, every table, every database (including the customers database and the Northwind database).
I have tried adding administrators and accounts as users of the databases etc. and given the accounts all the permissions I can dream up.
There are no interesting messages in the event viewer. The SQL agent is running.
Technet found two documents but not related to the problem.
I can run SQL Analyzer and run "select * from table_name". That works on the Northwind and customer database tables - every time.
Colleagues with other installations do not get the error, and their systems return the rows correctly.
Hiwhen i right click table and click design table then error occured(an unexpected error occured during this operation)If any one knows please let let me know your help would be appreciated .thankspardhi--Message posted via http://www.sqlmonster.com
I've developed some DTS packages on SQL 7.0, transfering data from SQL 7.0 to Oracle 8.1.6. Until a few day's ago, everthing worked fine. From my client workstation I was able to edit, test and run these DTS packs. But then, (after installing Oracle reports) it stop working. I've already re-installed SQL 7.0 + SP3, Oracle 8.1.6 client, NT 4.0 service pack 6, nothing works.
I always get the message :
HResult of 0x8000405(-2147467259) returned Unexpected error occurred, An error result was returned without an error message
I have created an RDL file programatically. When I execute the code I get the error as mentioned below:
Error: Sub report cannot be shown. An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError)
When I copy and paste the code of RDL file into new RDL file and try to preview the output I get correct result. Note: The new RDL file does not give any error if the output is seen using preview tab but it gives the error only when executed from report viewer or from internet explorer.
Any Suggestion/feedback is highly appreciated. Thank You.
