Analysis :: Browsing Measure Via Fact Dimension Showing Incorrect Data?

I have a Fact table that contains several degenerate string values that I have pulled into a Fact Dimension.
When I browse the cube and cut one of the measures by an attribute from the Fact Dimension, I am getting incorrect data.
In other words, when I query the fact table directly via SQL and apply the same filters, I see the data I am expecting to see. But cube browse with same filters yields different results.
How can this happen since the fact dimension has a 1:1 relationship with the fact table.
I do have the Dimension Usage configured properly.
Is this an aggregation thing? Attribute key thing? What am I missing?

I was successful in processing the cube, however the problem is everytime I drag the dimension on the columns field in Pivot tables the Thresholds start to break up the other amounts that I have on display like Acquisition Costs, Tax amounts. I am only interested in showing the breakdown of Premium amount measure by the Threshold dimension.
somehow 'Hide' or 'prevent' the Threshold dimension from breaking down the other measures on the Pivot and only breakdown the amounts for Premium?
how I should structure my tables in SQL or any MDX queries to resolve this.
I've got a dimension built from a fact (whatever that's called?) ... it's a date interval field, i.e. 0-5 weeks, 6-10 weeks 11+ weeks. How do I sort these members in the respective order? Looks like this currently:
The problem lies in the fact that I don't have any secondary attributes to order it by, i.e. it's not a physical dimension where I can use a key for the 3 members. I was hoping I wouldn't need to create a separate dimension to get round this.
I am modelling cube in SSAS. Cube has around 20 dimensions and 6 fact tables. Some of the dimensions are common among the fact tables. e.g. Time dimension. Fact_PNL has 3 date columns for those we have 3 role playing dimensions in the dimension usages.
Another fact table has 5 date columns for them as well we have separate role playing dimensions in dimension usage tab. We have a common dimension Company which is foreign key in all fact tables. We might need to combine the data from multiple facts to get final output.
Should i create 6 role playing dimension for each of the fact table or use the same dimension for all fact tables?
Role playing dimensions should be created when we have multiple columns pointing to the same dimension ?
i want to create a new measure that will behave based on the dimension dropped,ex. if i added the employee dimension only it will aggregate data from the #Calls Count but if i added the product dimension it should display # Product Calls at the product level and #Calls Count at the employee level as shown in the screen shot.
As u can see there is two company references in my fact table, and the schema is in snowflake. My customer requirements state that the Contracts' amounts can be aggregated/filtered for/by, ServiceProviderCompany, its city/profession or ClientCompay, its city/profession.
First thing came in to my mind is to dublicate whole dimension structure (one for serviceproviders, one for clients), which i thought that there should be another way around?
I am working on a model where I have a sales fact table. Each fact record has four different customer fields (ship- to, sold-to, payer, and bill-to customer). I have one customer dimension table that joins to the sales fact table four times (once for each of the customer fields above). When viewing the data in Excel, I would like to have four hierarchies (ship -to, sold-to, payer, and bill-to customer) within Customer.
Is there a way to build hierarchies within my Customer dimension based on the same Customer table? What I want is to view the data in Excel and see the Customer dimension. Within Customer, I want four hierarchies.
I've run into a problem building a new olap cube. It's taking 15 minutes or more when pulling on a dimension before I've even pulled on any measures. This happens in Excel as well as Management Studio. When it does display it seems to only show dimension members that it has data for. In addition, running profiler seems to indicate that it queries each of my partitions when it's doing this. I know that in my last cube if you pulled on a dimension, no members would show up yet and it would be fast. However I can't seem to find the property that's telling it not to query the partitions to determine what members to show. Any ideas?
In my cube there are two measures which are used in different calculations.Now I'm need to show in report if there any months in data when both or even another one of the measures is not updated (value = 0 or NULL).
how should I create the calculated measure for that?
I have tried in mgmt studio to plan this but I'm in a loop of errors.
When i add a dimension to the cube dimension without any relation in my dimension usage to any measure group my units are going down.However when i remove the dimension from the cube am getting the correct values.

However, some measures I work with are percentages (not numeric values) and demand a different formula.

I am trying to access the metadata. I am aware of $system.mdschema_measures but I am unable to utulize this for my case.
I created SSAS cube in VS 2008 and have been able to deploy it successfully to the server. While creating the cube I was able to browse dimensions and all underlying tables just to make sure it has data. After deploying successfully when I drag and drop any measure group to browser it does not display anything.
The only thing I did different from straightforward cube building process was that when I created those measure groups the partitions that were created by default were giving me some unknown errors so I had to delete them in order for cube to process successfully.
Did that made any difference because I thought partitions are for improving query performance and has nothing to do with cube processing errors.
I'm currently setting up a Tabular Model to do some research between several fact tables. In this example i have two fact tables (table 1 and table 2) which I've created a 1 to 1 relationship on phone number. Typically I create a relationship between these tables to find common data between the two. However, in this case I am trying to figure out the best way to model the data so that I can easily surface data from one table that does not exist in the other. I would liken this to a LEFT JOIN or a WHERE NOT EXISTS in SQL.
Table 1 has all of the data and Table 2 Only has a subset of the data from Table 1. What I'm trying to do here is display what attributes in Table 1 may play a part in records not existing in Table 2. What is the best way to model this?
We have a fact table where one of the measures in that fact table is invoice balance. Some of our reports requirements list that they only want to see the sum of those invoices where the balance is greater than X dollars. How do I go about filtering calculations based on a measures value?
I have 5 cubes, and hierachy defined for all cubes. for example:geography database with 5 continents as cubes and contries as dimensions.Now when i am doing security restrictions on my dimension ex: In USA dimension if i want only to give access to texas region then i should be able to see only texas cities. But i cansee all the states under USA even after selecting only Texas region under Dimension data tab inside ROles section in SSMS.I have tried security at database ,cube level as well as dimension level.But still not working.is that because of some wrong design of cubes or something related to database design.? I am not able to undersand that except roles everything in my cubes or datawarehouse is working fine without and defect in data.
I have connected to SQL SERVICES ANALYSIS SERVICE database through excel and when I observed that value of the date attribute is displayed as ######## in the excel for 1/1/1753.
I am able to see the value 1/1/1753 in the Cube browser but not able to see the vale in the excel.
how to replace this value with blank in the excel.
I have a time dimension which has Date, Week, Month and Year. However, the hierarchy will have only Week, Month and Year. It works great for any Sales measure with AggregateFunction as SUM.
I have created a new measure with AggregateFunction = LastNonEmpty. Also in the backend, I have pushed all the inventory data to last date in every month as inventory is always looked on a monthly basis not on a weekly basis. This measure shows correct data for every last week of the month in the hierarchy. However, Months and Years are displayed as zeros.
I am a newbye with Analysis Services and am desperately trying to find a way to include a calculation between one of my measures (Teus), divided by the vessel capacity, where vessel is one of my dimensions (and is therefore not depended on other dimensions...)

I have a fact table that has terminations. Fields include EmployeeName, TermDate, TermReason, and HireDate, et al.
I need to make EmployeeName available to drillthrough, and since it's a varchar field I can't make it a measure, so it has to be a dimension attribute. My question is, should I leave the fact table as it is and use SSAS to create a dimension that contains only EmployeeName and the link to TerminationID? Or should I redesign the OLAP tables so that EmployeeName is in a separate table?
Now I create datawarehouse for my client, I have SSIS a lot for ETL process, I a problem that some fact table need to be updatetable and there is a lot of data of this, I need some efficent way to load this data to data warehouse. I have read your article about SCD in SSIS (Slowly Changing Dimensions in SQL Server 2005). I think the purpose of SCD for Dimension table. If I have some fact table that need rows to be updatetable can you give me an example, best practice, the efficient way or fastet way to load fact table that can be updatetable? I am trying to figure out how to make dimension tables in SSIS? I mean I want to create the 5 Dimension tables and then create a Fact table out of it but I cant understand where to start? I am trying to implement data masking based on user login and not sure why this is not working. I have the dimensions DimBrand, DimProduct and DimUser. I should mask the BrandCode with 'XXXX' nothing but in the report all the BrandCode should appear but few of the code will be masked if the user is not belongs to that group. I have a fact table FactProduct in this. In the cube I created all these 3 dimensions and the fact table. I created a new dimension DimBrandMask and I separated the code over there with a relationship with the actual DimBrand dimension. In the cube a reference relationship is set up with the measure group. Created a role with read access.
In the dimension data tab of role I put the below MDX to allowed set.
