Ignore NULL Argument In SELECT
Aug 14, 2007I have a stored procedure which accepts 3 arguments that are used in the WHERE clause of a SELECT Statement

The problem that I am having is @argDay is an "optional" argument. If @argDay is NULL then I want to basically ignore the "AND MyData.Day = @argDay" condition.
Is there an easier way to do this than:

Hide Column If Parameter Is Null

I have a parameter in my report, and if it is set to Null or Zero, I want to hide a column. How would I do this? I have already tried using
Code Snippet=IIF(Parameters!Rate.Value >= 0, false, true)
in the Visibility property for the relevant column, but it doesn't make any difference. The column still shows up even if the Rate parameter is set to Null or zero. I only want the column to show if the user enters a value in the Rate parameter which is greater than zero.

Jan 16, 2005I am trying to extract a value out of a cookie and then use that as a parameter to a SQL Select...Where function but I am getting the Argument not specified for parameter error. I assume the value from the cookie is not in the variable that I created but I could be wrong.
What is the proper method for populating a variable from a cookie and using that value as part of a SQL Select....Where function?
After I get a value out of the Select...Where function, I need to use the dataset results in a DropDownList as well as perform the DataBind().

I am using the following code in my SQL stmt in my OLE BD Source stmt:

My parameters are as follows:
0 - User:LastSalesLoadDate DateTime variable
1 - User:Load Interval Int16 (or Int32)
2 - User:LastSalesLoadDate
When I try to close the program I get the following error:
"Argument data type datetime is invalid for argument 2 of dateadd function. If I can't use a datetime data type for the date time part of the dateadd, what can I use?
The exact same code runs without error in an EXECUTE SQL task.

Subscription Issue With Null Default Parameter - Key Cannot Be Null
May 3, 2007I have a report that is run on a monthly basis with a default date of null. The stored procedure determines the month-end date that it should use should it be sent a null date.
The report works fine when I tell it to create a history entry; however, when I try to add a subscription it doesn't appear to like the null parameter value. Since I have told the report to have a default value of null it doesn't allow me to enter a value on the subscription page.
Now, I suppose I could remove the parameter altogether from the stored proc, but then the users would never be able to run the report for a previous time period. Can someone explain to me why default values aren't allowed to be used on subscriptions when they seem to work fine for ad hoc and scheduled reports? This is really quite frustrating as most of my reports require a date value and default to null so that the user doesn't have to enter them for the latest data.

I am starting to use reporting services and I created a report that takes 4 parameters for a Filter on the dataset.
The idea is the create snapshot nightly and then display the report filtered based on parameters to users.
I'd like that the filter be ignored for a parameter if the parameter is passed as NULL,
Right now I defined it this way :
Left =Fields!RegionCode.Value
Operator =
Right =IIF(IsNothing(Parameters!RegionCode.Value),Fields!RegionCode.Value,Parameters!RegionCode.Value)
I do this for the 4 parameters that are passed, if they are null, make then equals to the field.
I was wondering if there is a way to ignore the whole parameter all together, I would guess it'll be faster to execute.

Sep 10, 2015I am working on a cube and I want to hide the results of a calculation if it is zero.
It is an inventory problem based on a transaction pattern. (add plus one to the inventory, add minus one to the inventory).
The sum of those two is zero, but the cube get messed but by thousands of zero.
I found some solutions of displaying 0 for NULL but I want to dispaly NULL (or empty) for 0.

I did a response.write on it and it show the value. Of course, it would be nice if I could do a breakpoint but that doesn't seem to be working. Basically it gets the date from the source data column and outputs it as an integer in the YYYYMMDD format.So 01/OCT/2015 would become --> 20151001...I've been fidgeting with DAX but my problem is that I keep missing the leading zeroes for months and days. So 01/March/2015 becomes 201531 which is not what I want (I need 20150301 in this case).

They all seem fine except the last one which returns the error
Msg 8111, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot define PRIMARY KEY constraint on nullable column in table 'DTb_HWSQueueMonthEnd'.
Msg 1750, Level 16, State 0, Line 1
Could not create constraint. See previous errors.
None of the fields I try to create the key on are nullable.

May 3, 2007I receive this message when I try to run any report. The reportserver and reportservertempdb databases were upgraded using backup/restore from SQL2000 to SQL2005 on a separate server which is running RS2005 . Please help. Thanks
