Analysis :: Invalid Column Name Message Type Error
May 21, 2015
I'm having trouble with cube processing. While processing a code I'm getting a "Invalid column name MessageType" error.
I unfolded the cube, then I opened "measure groups", my failing dimension (ServiceRequestDim) and the partition.
In the partition I opened the "Source" attribute so it now includes my column which was missing. But it didn't solve the issue.
If I get the query used during the process I'm getting this :
SELECT
DISTINCT
[ServiceRequestDim].[MessageType] AS [ServiceRequestDimMessageType0_0]
FROM
(
Select IsNull(IsDeleted, 0) as IsDeleted, [ServiceRequestDimKey], IsNull([Status_ServiceRequestStatusId], 0) as [Status_ServiceRequestStatusId],[Status],IsNull([TemplateId_ServiceRequestTemplateId], 0) as
[Code] ....
In the nested query which defines ServiceRequestDim the messagetype attribute is still missing. In my source datamart the ServiceRequestDim has the "MessageType" column.
So the question is where do I change the nested request that the dim process use to reflect the actual columns in my datamart .

Hi All,
We have installed Two SQL 2000 servers.
DB1 (main database) configured as a distributor and
publishers and DB2 configured as a subscriber (backup
database). The procedures I did the replication:
1. full backup the whole database said "test" on DB1
server.
2. Create a new database "test" on DB2 server
3. restore the full backed up database to "test" database
on DB2
4. create transactional publishes (select all tables) on
DB1 and "push" the articles to DB2
The results of replication monitor for replication all
database's table:
1. sanpshot suceeded A snapshot of 100 articles was generated.
2. LogReader Idle No replication are available.
3. DB2:TEST Failed Invalid column name "TYPE"
If I only select saying 5 articles (tables) to replication
at the same database "TEST". That the result was
successful without any error.
Strange... the "TEST" database was restoring from the full
backup (latest data) of DB1. Suppose that all the tables'
column should be same. How come the error is "Invalid
column name TYPE" and number is "207"
By the way, some of "unpublished objects" including tables
couldn't be select for publishing which is default locked
by a "key with red cross". How can I release such tables
(articles) allow selecting for publishing
Any idea and help?!

I run SB between 2 SQL servers. In profiler on an initiator side I see next error: 'This message could not be delivered because its message timestamp has expired or is invalid'. For the conversation we use best practice, i.e. target closes a conversation. Target side succeed to close conversation, but initiator still stay in DO (disconnect_outbound).
What is a reasone for the error? What to do?

Hi,
I can't seem to fix the following error in my stored procedure.
Error Message: Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '1007-001' to data type int.
The line of code in my stored procedure that seems to be the problem is the following:
CASE WHEN [Order Details].[Job No] IS NULL THEN [Orders].[Order No] ELSE [Order Details].[Job No] END
Order No has a data type of INT and Job No has a data type NVARCHAR(8). In the above case statement i'm not trying to convert anything but just display a column depending on the out come of the case statement. If anyone knows how to get around this error you help would be very welcome.

Hey all,
Having some trouble with a Database email system I created. The system consists of two tables, DATA_ELEMENT and EMAIL_MESSAGE. So the email message body and recipient fields may contain substitution macros such as {![CUST_EMAIL]!}. The CUST_EMAIL data element row then stores the SELECT, FROM and WHERE clauses separately. There is a stored proc to search the message body and recipients for these substitution macros and replace them with the appropriate values from the DB.
The system is working well except I have one particular substitution macro called VENUE_NAME_BY_PPPID which is causing a problem.
Quote: Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 3, Line 3
Invalid column name 'PARTNER_PRODUCT_PRIZE_ID'.
And here's the query which is creates this error (without the escaped single quotes):
Code:
SELECT P.PARTNER_NAME + ISNULL(' - ' + PS.SITE_NAME, '')
FROM PARTNER_PRODUCT_PRIZE PPP
JOIN PARTNER_PRIZE PP ON PP.PARTNER_PRIZE_ID = PPP.PARTNER_PRIZE_ID
JOIN PARTNER P ON P.PARTNER_ID = PP.PARTNER_ID
LEFT JOIN PARTNER_SITE PS ON PS.PARTNER_ID = PP.PARTNER_ID
AND PS.PARTNER_SITE_ID = PP.PARTNER_SITE_ID
WHERE PPP.PARTNER_PRODUCT_PRIZE_ID = '19'
And just after this print statement, the query is executed with sp_executesql()
Any advice is greatly appreciated as this query runs fine when I execute from the query window. However, if I escape all the necessary quotes, I can't get it to run when I put the string inside of sp_executesql().

I'm working in SQL2000 sp4. I've built a simple database to take snapshots from three ERPSs that contain related data and then analyse them to look for non-conforming records (items that are flagged differently between two systems, cost conversion errors, etc). The DTS packages all work fine, and suck the records out of the main systems without a problem.
For info, the DTS packages all work in the same way:
Purge a holding table
Connect to the source ERPS
Populate the holding table via a SELECT statement
Invoke a stored proc to make the required changes in the main table
Similarly, the stored procs all work in the same way: Add records from the holding table to the main table that aren't already there.
Update any records common to both: If there's a record date field, have been updated in the holding table more recently. Otherwise, match on key fields and differ on detail fields. Delete records from the main table that aren't in the holding table
The trouble started when I modified two of the tables to include the data that the record was last amended in the source ERPS. When I tried to incorporate this new column into the relevant stored proc, performing a syntax check resulted in error 207 - invalid column name.
I did some checking, and found out that stored procs tend to rely on what the table looked like when the proc was created, rather than what it now looks like. Accordingly, I tried creating a new proc. I got the same result. What have I missed?

I have a stored procedure that I am using to convert tables to a new format for a project. The project requires new tables, new fields in existing tables, dropping fields in existing tables and dropping an existing table. The SP takes care of doing all this and copying the data from the tables that are going to be dropped to the correct places. Everything is working fine except for one table and I can't figure out why.
For this particular table, it already exists in the database and has new fields added to it. Then I try and update those fields with values from another table. This is where I am getting the Invalid column name error (line is highlighted in red). If I comment out the code where the error is occurring and run the update alone everything works fine so I know the Update statement works.
Here is the specific error message I am getting in SQL Server 2005:
Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 85
Invalid column name 'AssignedAgent'.
Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 85
Invalid column name 'DateTimeAssigned'.
Here is the SP: -
IF OBJECT_ID('ConvertProofTables','P') IS NOT NULL
DROP PROCEDURE ConvertProofTables;
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE ConvertProofTables
AS
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
[Code] ....

I am trying to setup an indicator value for an SSRS report to show green and red values on a report, based on the NRESULT value. The problem I am facing is that I have several different CASE statements that have the same logic, and they are processing just fine. NRESULT is a decimal field, so no conversion should be necessary. I do not know why I am getting the "Arithmetic overflow error converting varchar to data type numeric." error message.
Below is the CASE statement where the error is occurring. It is in the part of the ELSE CASE. The first CASE works just fine when the ELSE CASE is commented out. If I also change the ELSE CASE statement to say "else case when LEFT(NRESULT,1) = '-' then '0'", then it processes fine, too, so it has to be something I am missing something in the check on negative values. I do need the two checks, one for positive and one for negative values, to take place.
case when LEFT(NRESULT,1) <> '-' then --This portion, for checking positive values, of the CASE statement works fine.
CASE WHEN LEFT(ROUND(NRESULT,2),4) between 0.00 and 0.49 THEN '2' --Green
ELSE CASE WHEN LEFT(ROUND(NRESULT,2),4) > 0.49 THEN '0' --Red
ELSE '3' --White
END
END
else case when LEFT(NRESULT,1) = '-' then --This portion, for checking negative values, of the CASE statement is producing the conversion error message.
[code]....
I checked the NRESULT field, and there are not any NULL values in there, either.

Hi,
I am using SQL Server 2005 with SP1 patch update.I have tow tables
X table fields:
ClientID,ClientName,ClientRegisteredNumber,HoldingName,HoldingRegisteredNumber,NumberOfHoldings
Y table fields:
ClientID,ClientName,RegisteredNumber,HoldingName,HoldingRegisteredNumber,NumberOfHoldings
If i run a query for X table:
SELECT RegisteredNumber FROM X it produces the error like this
Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid column name 'RegisteredNumber'.
But if i run the query for X,Y table:
SELECT * FROM Y WHERE RegisteredNumber NOT IN
(SELECT RegisteredNumber FROM X)
It's not producing any errors.
Why this? Is this the SQL Bug or my query problem?
Can anyone explain how to solve this?

Hi, all
I'm getting this error at runtime when my page tries to populate a datagrid. Here's the relevant code.
First, the user selects his choice from a dropdownlist, populated with a sqldatasource control on the aspx side:<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlDataSourceCompany" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [PayrollCompanyID], [DisplayName] FROM [rsrc_PayrollCompany] ORDER BY [DisplayName]">
</asp:SqlDataSource>
And the dropdown list's code:<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlPayrollCompany" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" DataSourceID="sqlDataSourcePayrollCompany"
DataTextField="DisplayName" DataValueField="PayrollCompanyID">
</asp:DropDownList>
Then, I use the selectedindexchanged event to bind the data to the datagrid. Here's that code:
1 Sub BindData()
2
3 Dim ds As New DataSet
4 Dim sda As SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter
5 Dim strSQL As String
6 Dim strCon As String
7
8 strSQL = "SELECT [SocialSecurityNumber], [Prefix], [FirstName], [LastName], [HireDate], [PayrollCostPercent], " & _
9 "[Phone], [BadgeNumber], [IsSupervisor], [SupervisorID], [IsUser], [IsScout] FROM [rsrc_Personnel] " & _
10 "WHERE ([PayrollCompanyID] = @PayrollCompanyID)"
11
12 strCon = "Data Source=DATASOURCE;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;User ID=USERID;Password=PASSWORD"
13
14 sda = New SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(strSQL, strCon)
15
16 sda.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add(New SqlClient.SqlParameter("@PayrollCompanyID", Me.ddlPayrollCompany.SelectedItem.ToString()))
17
18 sda.Fill(ds, "rsrc_Personnel")
19
20 dgPersonnel.DataSource = ds.Tables("rsrc_Personnel")
21 dgPersonnel.DataBind()
22
23 End Sub
24
I'm assuming my problem lies in line 16 of the above code. I've tried SelectedItemIndex, SelectedItemValue too and get errors for those, as well.
What am I missing?
Thanks for anyone's help!

Hi there,
I have setup merge replication which successfully synchronizes with a group of desktop users using SQL Compact Edition.
However now I have setup Article Filters and when I attempt to regenerate the snapshot I get the following error:
Invalid column name 'rowguid'.
Failed to generate merge replication stored procedures for article 'AssignedCriteria'.
When I look at publication properties at the Articles page.. All my tables have the rowguid uniqueidentifier successfully added to tables and selected as a compulsory published column, apart from the table above "AssignedCriteria".. Even when I attempt to select this column in the article properties page and press ok, when I come back it is deselected again. ( The Rowguid column is however physically added to the table)
I have scripted the publication SQL and then totally reinstalled from scratch, including the database but for some reason it doesn't like this table. I remove the article filters, but still this "rowguid" is never "selected" in article properties.
We are using Uniqueidentifiers in other columns as well for historical reasons, but this doesn't appear to be a problem in other tables..
DDL For this problematic table is as follows
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[AssignedCriteria](

Hello,
I am having trouble specifying a message body that is valid. I mean for the client to send. If I leave it as null then everything is ok but if I create a memorystream and add a line of text it reports back it did not pass validation. I do not understand this and am not sure what to do. I need to send a message based on a code and text but do not know the format of the body that is allowed. The code I am refering to comes out of HelloWord_CLR because that is what I am formating my sample after. I call it the same way it calls the return message done in ServiceProc. I need to know the message format including body since this does not seem to work. A sample of the call is bellow.
// Create an empty request message
string Msg = "Hello";
MemoryStream body = new MemoryStream(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(Msg));
Message request = new Message("Request", body);
Thanks,
Scott Allison...

I copied and pasted the path on the URL and it worked. What did I miss in the code? Why strHistoryID is required as it is nothing? Please refer to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.wssux.reportingserviceswebservice.rsexecutionservice2005.reportexecutionservice.render.aspx

I'm trying to import XML Data from a .xml file and then running openXML command to insert relevent data into SQL server 2005.
First I'm importing XML records with help of Script Task(In SSIS) in batch of 1000 records in temporary String n passing this to Stored procedure ,which parses XML String with help of "sp_xml_preparedocument" .This SP it gives following error..
"An object or column name is missing or empty. For SELECT INTO statements, verify each column has a name. For other statements, look for empty alias names. Aliases defined as "" or [] are not allowed. Add a name or single space as the alias name."
I'm clueless about error,can some someone guide to workaround?

I am doing a distinct count on a related table's column, but get an out of memory error if I run it for the entire table (works great for just a few rows when filtered down).The error I get is: "We couldn't get data from the external source.The operation has been cancelled because there is not enough memory available for the application. If using 32-bit version of the product consider upgrading.
I know I can add a related column and that works fine...but that seems to me like I've defeated the purpose, I have a good and proper lookup table, and should be able to run my query against its relationship.Here is the query and details below *Note I supplied a scaled down sample, on my actual model I receive these errors, not in the sample as it has only a few rows
List Workers Distinct Project Customers:=CALCULATE(DISTINCTCOUNT(Projects[CustomerID]),'WorkersToProjects')
Other measure which returns no errors, but included for completeness:
List Workers Projects:=CALCULATE(DISTINCTCOUNT([ProjectID]),ISBLANK(WorkersToProjects[ProjectID])=FALSE())
My goal here is to allow the user to view the workers assigned to a project, but also get counts of the workers assigned to the CUSTOMER of a project. For example, suppose we lose a customer, we want to see how many workers would be impacted by that, so a count of projects per worker is not useful there, we need to see a count of workers per project's customer (owner of project whom project work is being done for)The question being: How can I accomplish this:
1. WITHOUT adding a calculated column to WorkersToProjects (of Projects.CustomerID)
2. WITH better performance?
There must be a better way to write this DAX to still get the correct answer?*Pic of pivot table, again, the numbers are accurate but the formula used to List Workers Distinct Project Customers measure does NOT scale :( 3 count for red , the number of Projects John has and 2 count for blue, the unique customers/owners of those projects "Veridian Dynamics" and "Massive Dynamic". URL....

and executed as
SendEMail1 'x@x.com','a@a.com', 'Sending email through Stored Procedure', 'Body : An Email can be sent through stored procedure... and this is SAMPLE', 'smtpservername' This is working fine when I excuted the above procedure in the local system.
Same procedure I have created in the developement machine and excute it the it is giving error as
0x80040220 CDO.Message.1 The "SendUsing" configuration value is invalid. NULL 0
I need the suggestions on the above error and how to solve this in our development server.
Thanks,

I'm trying to use the message queue task in SSIS 2005 and not getting very far. Right off the bat I'm trying to create a Message Queue Connection Manager and when I enter the path, trying both "seawxxxx estq" (my local computer name) or ". estq" and test it, it comes back with "invalid path". Have done quite a bit of searching around and can't find anything on this particular error.
Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
