Analysis :: Power BI Analysis Services Connector - Remote Server Returned Error

I have, a SSAS 2012 tabular instance with SP2, there is a database on the instance with a read role with everyone assigned permissions. When configuring the Power BI analysis services connector, at the point where you enter Friendly Name, Description and Friendly error message, when you click next I receive the error "The remote server returned an error (403)." I've tested connecting to the database from Excel on a desktop and connect fine.I don't use a "onmicrosoft" account so don't have that problem to deal with.
We use Power BI Pro with our Office 365. As far as I can tell that part is working ok as I pass that stage of the configuration with a message saying connected to Power BI.The connector is installed on the same server as tabular services, its a Win2012 Standard server. The tabular instance is running a domain account that is the admin account for the instance (this is a dev environment) that account is what I've used in the connector configuration. It's also a local admin account. There is no gateway installed on the server.
I have a cube that we are processing nightly via an Analysis Service Processing Task in SSIS. In order to increase the performance of the processing time, we elected to use a lot of rigid dimension attributes, and do a full process of everything in the SSIS task. The issue that I am having is that after that task completes, I need to go into Visual Studio to deploy the cube becuase we are unable to browse or use the cube. This issue seemed to start once we changed the SSIS Analysis Service Processing Task to do a full process on the dimensions, rather than an incremental.
I would expect that once development is done, and it is processed and deployed, that is it. My thinking is that the SSIS task should just update the already deployed cube,

getting a complete Microsoft DW/BI (Tabular), Power BI and Office enviroment up running. I am a (Microsoft) DW/BI manager and want to learn about the latest Microsoft DW/BI (SQL Server Tabular) and Power BI (Power Pivot, Power View, ...). To save time & access from anywhere, I thought I could use Windows Azure but quickly got lost in the Azure preview and market place! I even contacted the Windows Azure team and that didn't clarify things.
So, how to get a SQL Server (2014) environment with all DW/BI (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Data Mining) technologies together with Power BI and Excel working? If so, how to get started.If this is not possible on Azure and it has to be done on Window, what do I need to install for the Power BI stuff (to work with Tabular)? I already have SQL Server 2014 and Office Pro Plus installed natively on my Windows machine.
I am getting an error while I try to browse data in a Cube. I have installed SQL 2000 Developer version along with Analysis Services. My operationg system is Windows XP.
We have an Integration services package that executes a few TSQL tasks, then processes an Analsys Services database. This has been in production for about three weeks now and twice the package has failed with this error from the event log:

I don't think that this error is accurate because the package and Analysis Services are on the same server.
Also, this does not happen in our development environment. Any help is appreciated.
I've got this error coming up while running the sql job for AS processing. I can't find anything about it on google or anywhere else. Has anyone had issues like this?

We have been trying for a while to use Power BI tools (Power Query, Power BI Designer (Desktop) and Power BI Designer (Cloud) in line with larger data sources ( 2-7m records in fact table). Unfortunately up to now with unsatisfactory results. It seems that these tools are just not designed to handle this kind of data volumes?
To my understanding it seems that the approach with PowerBI components is to always try to create a local (or cloud based) cache that only has a limited capacity. 2m+ records already seem to be exceeding this limit. So as opposed to firing off a query on demand (for example only based on distinct filter options as opposed to entire fact set) only the intermediary cache of the model can be used.
Our initial focus was to use a normalized table in SQL Server with around 4m records. First problem is that Power Query/Power BI Designer fails to provide a complete list of the distinct filter items:
This I can understand in some way as doing a distinct on a large data set like that is not trivial. As a workaround I could imagine to setup a star scheme dimension table with the distinct "dimension members". I.e. that filters are driven by this table which has only a few thousand rows. The filters there are then applied to the fact table. I haven't found a way to do this effectively with Power Query.
Another option that we have tried was using the cloud based Power BI service in conjunction with a SQL Cloud Service with the same data set. That unfortunately didn't work. The setup of the source works fine but as soon as we try to start a query by dragging a value field on the dashboard errors occur:
The problem (at least I feel) is I defined some dates in the Startdate and Enddate for a particular year. But these discounts should apply for all of the years in my fSalesBook, not just for that year in the dDiscount table.
So in essence, when you calculate discount for a product in fSalesBook you should consider only the month and day of the transaction, if the sale is in between the discount dates.
I am not sure how to relate the dDiscount table with the dCalendar table and not sure even there is a need to relate them to calculate Row level discount in fSalesBook. You can change the relations/model if there is need be.
PS: One more clause, Sometimes I offer discount only for a particular product in that Discount season, that's why there is a column for Product in the dDiscount table.

I try to generate ad hoc reporting model for analysis services cube in reporting services. in Management Studio I connected to reporting services, defined a data source to the analysis services database. But If i try to generate model i get the error: "While connection with a data source a mistake has appeared, or the query is invalid for the data source. (rsCannotPrepareQuery)(Report Services SOAP Proxy Source)"
I use Sql server 2005 standard edition in a 64 bit machine.I tried to create a SSIS project with an Analysis Services Processing Task. In connection Manager, the test connection succeeds but when I try to add the analysis services connection manager it gives following error.-The new connection manager could not be created,Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0010014 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap). This is a production server and we cannot reproduce this in other servers , so troubleshooting is difficult. This error appears when connecting to other sources like MS excel in Export task of Enteerprise Manager as well. Cubes can be processed manually without any problem.Pls give me a solution.
I have an Analysis Services Processing Task in my SSIS package. I run the SSIS package using SQL Server job, the running of the package is a job step.
When I process manually the analysis services objects (in practise cubes) using dtexec utility I get a lot of log. In case the processing fails I get error messages that quite well describe the error. But when I run the job the only information I get in the job log is that the job step failed. I know the failure happens in the Analysis Services Processing Task.
Is there any way in SSIS to get a) the log of the Analysis Services processing or b) the error messages of the Analysis Services processing? Or should the processing be done some other way than I've been doing?
My Power view reports do not show the grand totals correctly. I think my issue relates perfectly to [URL]. However we have updated service pack 2 on both the sql data warehouse and the ssas box. They are 2012. However the power view is still incorrect. Pivot tables seem to work just fine. In AS I have a 2 separate measure groups that has a total count. I then use mdx to bring those two together. Something I have done many times in past with as 2008. My mdx looks like this below. I then hide Total Count EC (from measure group 1) and Total Count SF (from measure group 2). This way I have 1 total count value and they can use another dimension to see the two separate if needed.
The measure Total Count EC works just fine but the Total Count (MDX) does not . All in Power Pivot works fine but in Power View the grand totals are not correct.
Hi I installed Analysis Services yesterday and was building some test cubes from our receipts data, today, when I tried opening my cubes, it appears that my Analysis Server (on local machine - laptop) is not available giving the error message of :
"Unable to connect to the registry on the server FJKILKEN-MOBL, or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this server"
I have shut-down/restarted, and then checked that all appropriate services (SQL server, OLAP server etc) are running which they are any idea on what the issue could be?

I am able to archive the Analysis Services db's using the msmdarch on one server but not the other server. (It is working in the Test environment but not the Production environment.) Here are the details:
Both servers are SQL Server 2000 sp1. I compared sp_configure and both servers have the same settings. The Production server is clustered and the Test Server is not clustered.
I can archive in TEST using the following: - From Analysis Manager - Using the msmdarch command from a command prompt - From a scheduled job using the "Operating System Command" Type from a job step entering the msmdarch command in the Command box. - Using the msmdarch command with xp_cmdshell within Query Analyzer and from a Stored Procedure.
I can archive in PRODUCTION only using: - From Analysis Manager - Using the msmdarch command from a command prompt ** It does not work from a job or from Query Analyzer
I have checked the permissions of the SQL Server Agent account on both servers and they are identical with sa rights and a member of the OLAP Administrators group.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this?
Hmm.. where to start? Well, I have installed proj serv 2007 and have it up and running fine. I was recently asked to get the data analysis portion of the proj server working. After much digging for some guides, I found a few helpful and got sql analysis server installed with everything else it need to operate. (as far as I know). One of the guides that I have encountered and using asks me to use sql studio management to access the analysis server. Problem is, I dont have the option to choose a server type. (Its greyed out) Which only has the option for "Database Engine". Furthermore, I cannont complete the steps required without this option. Could someone please, please, point me in the right direction and possibly tell me what Ive done wrong. Project server 2007 documentation is horrible. Just to be able to use the server has been a process.
I have a complex scenario , so first I want to ask out the feasibility of it . Hi, I have used MIcrosoft Sql Server 2000 for a while, namely analysis services. What I want to know is if Sql Server Express Edition 2008 has also tools to handle with datawarehouses, olap and data mining, that is, which are the limitations of SQLServer 2008 Express Edition, they are related with that tools?
if it provides that tools, do you know good documentation related with these issues?? And books??
I am connecting to SSAS cube from Excel and I have date dimension with 4 fields (I have others but I don't use it for this case). I created 4 fields in order to test all possible scenarios that I could think of:

Filtering on date is working fine:
Initially, in excel, filtering on date was not working. But after changing dimensional type to time, and setting DataType to Date, as mentioned in [URL] filter is working fine as you can see in the picture.Grouping on date is not working:
I have hierarchy in my Date dimension and I can group based on hierarchy, no problem. But user is used to pre-build grouping function of excel, and he wants to use that. Pre-build functions of Excel, Group and ungroup seems to be available as you can see in following picture:
But when user clicks 'Group', excel groups it as if it is a string, and that is the problem. User wants to group using pre-build grouping function available in Pivot table. I also find out that Power Pivot Table does not support this excel grouping functionality. And if I understood well, this pre-build grouping functionality of excel, needs to do calculation at run time, and that is not viable solution if you have millions of rows. So Power pivot table does not support pre-build grouping functionality of excel and hence we need to use dimension hierarchy to do the grouping. But I am not using Power Pivot table, I am using simple Pivot Table. So I expect grouping functionality to be working fine. Then I tried to do simple test. I created a simple data source in excel itself. And use it as source of my Pivot table. Then grouping is working fine. The only difference that I can see is (When double click the Measure value in Excel),For date values of my simple test, excel consider them as 'Date'.
For date values of my data coming from cube, excel consider them as 'General'
2.1. But value here is same as it was in simple test.
2.2. 'Date Filter' works just fine.
2.3. If I just select this cell and unselect it, then excel change type to 'Date' though for that cell.
2.4. I have created 4 different types of fields in my date dimension thinking that values of attribute of my dimension might be the problem, but excel consider 'General' for all of them.
2.5 This value (that can be seen when double clicking on measure) comes from 'Name Column' of the attribute. And the DataType defined is WChar. And I thought that might be the reason of issue. And I changed it to 'Date'. But SSAS does not allow it to change to 'Date' giving error : The 'Date' data type is not allowed for the 'NameColumn' property; 'WChar' should be used.
So, I don't know, what is the puzzle piece that I am missing.
1. Date filter works, group does not work
2. Excel consider it as 'General' string.
3. SSAS does not allow to change 'NameColumn' to Date.

Long story short, I thought I'd build a local web service with the same signature as something another team was doing. In Visual Studio, you can click on the project and select Publish.
One of the options is to "Delete all existing files prior to publish." I was unfamilar with this option and it does exactly what it claims to do: my inetpubwwwroot folder is clean as a whistle. I was expecting it to only delete what it had put out there but apparently not.
We have a deploy process here so the web work and the reports I've developed can and have been dropped back out there, no harm done. I recreated the virtuals for Reports and ReportServer and something is amiss. I can navigate to http://localhost/Reports/ and it's fine, it displays the folders I had created. I can click into the folders and see the reports I had deployed just fine. However, when I actually click on a report, it starts to serve the content but then chokes and dies on rendering. It then indicates "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."
I have gone through a fellow developer's machine and compared the IIS settings between the two machines and they appear to be the same.
Auth is set to Integrated Windows I have restarted iis (iisreset) as well as followed up with a bounce to the "SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER)" service It's all using the 2.0.507270.0 engine
