in regards to creating an excel spreadsheet dynamically in SQL Server 2005 SSIS. However, i'm constantly getting an where the tab is created but not being populated. Can somebody post up a clearer example?
The problem I'm trying to solve is to automate the export of a query onto a new dynamic spreadsheet each time I run this SSIS package.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dynamic Database Creation

I have a web site where the user can select from a list of databases (they're actually all the same structure, but have data unique to each client). Each database is a SQL 2005 database held in the App_Data folder. This all works a treat. Each database is simply named after the client it is holding data for, and the connection string for each is stored in a database that is accessed
However, what I need is a form where a database name can be entered, and I can then create a new database with the same structure as the others - including tables, indexes and stored-procedures. I know I can use the copy database wizard in the Management Studio, but that isn't an option to the users of this system (it's to be used on an intranet, and the page I'm trying to create will only be used by project managers - but these people won't have a clue when it comes to configuring databases themselves). I have scripted a database, but have no idea on how I can actually use this script from within Visual Studio and more importantly, don't know how to configue it to have the database name as a parameter.
I've also seen some examples that suggest using SQL-DMO, but haven't been able to work out how to use it and according to Microsoft it shouldn't be used for new developments (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms132924.aspx).
Anyway, I really hope someone is able to offer some assistance on this one as I've spent a whole day trawling forums and various web-sites trying to find a solution to this.

Jul 14, 2015I have a requirement to make all of my KPI goals configurable by the end user - I would like to add the data to my datawarehouse so that it is updated in the cube whenever the cube is processed. I'm thinking I will need a table for each KPI that includes two columns (I will be setting goal by year):

In my cube I then create a measure group for each KPI (for some I will add a calculations to break down the yearly goal to lower levels of detail).I will add each measure to my Dimension Usage and relate to each of my time dimensions at the Year level.I currently have around a dozen KPIs - my above approach seems a bit messy i.e. requiring a table and measure group for each KPI (I guess I could at least put them all into one table in my relational db).

I am storing the tables in a local variable called@TABLENAME VARCHAR(16)and when i say SELECT * FROM @TABLENAMEit is giving me an error and I think I cannot declare @TABLENAME as a table variable because I do not want to create a temp table of sorts.I hope I am clear.thanks,Murthy here

I created a For Eachloop containter and assign it to variable infile. In the data flow I added some transform and flat file destination. currently its reading 3 files and output is only one file.

Hi All,
I'm new to SSIS. I have a small problem. In our system we are trying to create flat files based on data from returned from different SQL stored procedures. The configuration settings for creating the flat files are stored in a SQL table.
For example, the config table will look like below :
Feed Id Feed Name Feed File Name Feed Stored Procedure Name

The problem is dvx_GetBiz, dvx_GetPG,... all have different number and types of columns. So, I'm not able to create a dynamic Flat File destination depending on the columns returned from the corresponding stored procedure.
Is there a way to accomplish this ?

Creation Of Dynamic Cubes Using XMLA?
Mar 12, 2008I hope some of you can point me in the right direction. I am new to all this and
working on a project using Cubes.
The cubes need to be generated in a dynamic fashion as the contents
(that means field) in the fact tables change change every quarter and are
based off of a external application.
The base strucutre stays the same though. So we thought we would export the
XMLA representation of the cube and then munge (word for alter) the data in the
XMLA file and send it someplace to create the new cube on a SQL 2005 server.
This seemed easy enough but I have found no real information on how to
run some piece of code that would create the cube based on this XMLA code.
On another note is there a parsing object for the XMLA so i dont have to right one from
scratch?

Dynamic Login && User Creation
Mar 27, 2006Hello. I'm trying to create a new login and username inside a trigger using variables.
This code works:
create login testUserName with password = 'testPassword'
The problem comes when I try to use variables for the username and password like this.
create login @username with password = @password
Does anybody know how to get around this problem?
BTW, the error message it gives is this, but I really doubt that semicolons have anything to do with it. If I literally type my data in the create login call it works fine, but when I use variables it doesn't.

I have a requirement to create #Temp table in database and insert values to it.
I use following code:

Code creates the Temp table but when it comes to insert statement, it throws error saying "Temp table not found".
Reason can be Create and Insert statement gets executed as 2 different sessions.
How to get the above requirement work fine?

Analysis :: Cube Needs To Be Deployed From VS After SSIS Analysis Services Processing Task Completes?
May 13, 2014I have a cube that we are processing nightly via an Analysis Service Processing Task in SSIS. In order to increase the performance of the processing time, we elected to use a lot of rigid dimension attributes, and do a full process of everything in the SSIS task. The issue that I am having is that after that task completes, I need to go into Visual Studio to deploy the cube becuase we are unable to browse or use the cube. This issue seemed to start once we changed the SSIS Analysis Service Processing Task to do a full process on the dimensions, rather than an incremental.
I would expect that once development is done, and it is processed and deployed, that is it. My thinking is that the SSIS task should just update the already deployed cube,
Dynamic Database Connection In SSIS Without Using A Config File
May 1, 2008I'm a newbie to SSIS so this question may cause people to point and laugh. I apologise if that's the case.
I have a configuration database that holds connection details to a remote database. I want to use these connection details to dynamically create a new connection to some remote database.
I usually work in with C# where this would be simple but I can't find how to do this using SSIS.
I have found people using configuration files but as I already have my connection data in a table I don't really want to strip it out. (Also, is it a security risk to have database connection strings stored in a config file?)
I have been able to implement a custom script object to build the connection string and assign it to a user variable within the package but can't find any way to then use that variable to connect to the remote database.
Can anyone help?

Nov 10, 2015I am trying to dynamically change my initial catalog in a SSIS project. Each day I get a snapshot of data from the production server. I am performing ETL on that database and loading it into my warehouse. I am trying to put something together so that each day I get the latest snapshot and if its newer then my most recent one I pass that new catalog into the connection manager. I can already run the sql script to compare the two catalogs but I can't populate the connection manager.

May 8, 2015 I have a dimension called as DIM1 which has list of all measures and has an attribute called as ATTRMDX Formula. The formula will be like
([DIM1].[ATTR Measure Code].&[M1],[Measures].[ATTR MEASURE VALUE])+([DIM1].[ATTR Measure Code].&[M2],[Measures].[ATTR MEASURE VALUE]).
I want to pass this formula to a calculated measure as given below -
MEMBER [Measures].[FormMeasure] as ([Measure].[ATTRMDX Formula].currentmember.MEMBERVALUE)
but I get the string value itself as output, but when I put the formula as a string in the calculated measure I obtain the value.

Jul 25, 2007I am relatively new to this. I am trying to create a SSIS package that loops through several SQL tables. The first table is results_C01 and the last table is results_C18. They are in the same database. The number of tables will be increasing over time. I would like to perform a series of the same SQL tasks on these tables. My thought was to utilize a For Loop and imbed the SQL tasks within the For Loop. The SQL task would utilize a variable for the table name that would increment from results_C01 to results_C18 as it cycled through the For Loop.
I am able to create a For Loop with a variable, but I am not able to get the variable from the For Loop to equal and increment from results_C01 to results_C18. Secondly, I am not able to create an SQL task that utilizes a variable for a table name. I am really stuck.

I'm new to this SSIS package creation thing and I'm a little stuck. I have to create a SSIS project and create packages that drop - create a database, then create either 1 or 3 different packages that use a config file for input on dates to run and return data. My question is:
1) how can I get a package to read a config file?
2) do i need to create 3 seperate configs files for each different packages?
3) How can I pass in parameters to the config file or allow the config file allow for parameters to be passed in? meaning: I need to allow my config files run between dates I entered in.
I'm totally new to this SSIS thing, I'm a .NET developer and never done this stuff before in my life so I'm not really sure how to do most of this stuff within the VS 05 IDE for the SSIS package creations.

While executing the above query, getting the error - Query (1, 9) Parser: The syntax for '@pYear_Internal' is incorrect. It looks like it doesn't recognize DECLARE keyword as it does with SQL queries. I just want a query that runs directly against the server.
Dynamic Connection String For Analysis Services
Jun 29, 2006I have a package where I need a dynamic connection string for an Analysis Services connection manager.
I have implemented this successfully for a Text data source, and a SQL data source, but the same approach does not seem to be working for an AS connection.
I set some expressions for the AS connection manager (ServerName, InitialCatalog, even the entire ConnectionString itself), but they don't take. I don't get any errors, but the task processes the cubes for the AS connection as it was established at run time. The design time connection string changes don't appear to get evaluated. This seems to be an issue only for AS connections.

- Access to the entire cube => OK, based upon a role
- Restricted access to one department (= dimension) => OK, based upon a role
- Access to the entire cube, but with dynamic security on 2 measures.
Let's say, we have 2 departments (food and non-food). Users within food are allowed to see sales and pieces from the food department, but not from the non-food department.
It is not an option to restrict access to the non-food department because there are other measure which they have access to. I tried cell security, but this is very slow and generates multiple empty rows on my selections.

1 user can have access to many sites. I've tried these codes but only one worked and only in case where the user had only one site :
a) =DimImplantation[DimImplantation_ID]= LOOKUPVALUE (DimDroit[DimImplantation_ID]; DimDroit[Utilisateur];USERNAME() ) ==> worked for 1user with 1 site

Oct 2, 2015I have a business requirement to build a tabular data model, where I need to mask information of other Agents from a given Agent but I still need to show the overall sales of the given product.
For eg: IF an Agent is in APAC region he should see APAC region sales and also should be able see the sales of the same product in other region without knowing region specific break down.
For Agent "Tom" in APAC region, the numbers will look like this
APAC_Sales = 100,000
Other_Sales = 500,000
And if "John" is in NA region, then the number will look like this for him
NA_Sales = 200,000
Other_Sales = 400,000
I wanted to create "Roles" based on the Region, so all the agents belong to "APAC" region will have same view as Tom and "NA" region agents will have John's view.
SQL Server 2014 :: Programmatic Creation Or Modification Of SSIS
May 21, 2015I'm trying to create an SSIS package that will do a straight data copy between databases. The problem is that the underlying schema of the origin may change and the requirement is that the transfer be table driven. i.e. the tables that are copied are listed in a table and there should be no human intervention when the schema changes.
I'm moving data between SQL Server and SQL Azure, so backup and restore doesn't work. Has to be an SSIS package.
What's the best way to deal with a changing schema in an SSIS package? Can I delete and rewrite the underlying XML for any tables that change? Do I need to do it programmatically with C#? Do I need to create the package from scratch each time?
