Analysis Services Archiving Is Working On One Server

Hi,
I am able to archive the Analysis Services db's using the msmdarch on one server but not the other server. (It is working in the Test environment but not the Production environment.) Here are the details:
Both servers are SQL Server 2000 sp1.
I compared sp_configure and both servers have the same settings.
The Production server is clustered and the Test Server is not clustered.
I can archive in TEST using the following:
- From Analysis Manager
- Using the msmdarch command from a command prompt
- From a scheduled job using the "Operating System Command" Type from a job step entering the msmdarch command in the Command box.
- Using the msmdarch command with xp_cmdshell within Query Analyzer and from a Stored Procedure.
I can archive in PRODUCTION only using:
- From Analysis Manager
- Using the msmdarch command from a command prompt
** It does not work from a job or from Query Analyzer
I have checked the permissions of the SQL Server Agent account on both servers and they are identical with sa rights and a member of the OLAP Administrators group.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I have to install cubes on another machine (not on the same site/NT domain). I have archived the OLAP db and generated a .cab file.
I have retored on the destination server. It works fine in Analysis Manager console (I can process and lokk at the data). But when I want to access the cube from Excel using OLAP cube, I have an error msg.
Is there something I need to do on the distination server ? Langage, SP, role, version of SQLServer/Analysis services ...
I have, a SSAS 2012 tabular instance with SP2, there is a database on the instance with a read role with everyone assigned permissions. When configuring the Power BI analysis services connector, at the point where you enter Friendly Name, Description and Friendly error message, when you click next I receive the error "The remote server returned an error (403)." I've tested connecting to the database from Excel on a desktop and connect fine.I don't use a "onmicrosoft" account so don't have that problem to deal with.
We use Power BI Pro with our Office 365. As far as I can tell that part is working ok as I pass that stage of the configuration with a message saying connected to Power BI.The connector is installed on the same server as tabular services, its a Win2012 Standard server. The tabular instance is running a domain account that is the admin account for the instance (this is a dev environment) that account is what I've used in the connector configuration. It's also a local admin account. There is no gateway installed on the server.
I have some questions about SQL Servers 2000 and 2005 compatibility. In my configuration I have to use both servers. The cubes are stocked in 2005 server. May I transfer from 2005 to 2000 Analysis Services the cubes?
If yes, what is the procedure? The result of migration is the same in the two different versions?
I have a cube that we are processing nightly via an Analysis Service Processing Task in SSIS. In order to increase the performance of the processing time, we elected to use a lot of rigid dimension attributes, and do a full process of everything in the SSIS task. The issue that I am having is that after that task completes, I need to go into Visual Studio to deploy the cube becuase we are unable to browse or use the cube. This issue seemed to start once we changed the SSIS Analysis Service Processing Task to do a full process on the dimensions, rather than an incremental.
I would expect that once development is done, and it is processed and deployed, that is it. My thinking is that the SSIS task should just update the already deployed cube,

I'm trying to build a relationship(regression) between “Price Sale” from Good and “Price Deliver”.But I do not know what column better choose as “key column”: ID or GoodID ?
Hi I installed Analysis Services yesterday and was building some test cubes from our receipts data, today, when I tried opening my cubes, it appears that my Analysis Server (on local machine - laptop) is not available giving the error message of :
"Unable to connect to the registry on the server FJKILKEN-MOBL, or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this server"
I have shut-down/restarted, and then checked that all appropriate services (SQL server, OLAP server etc) are running which they are any idea on what the issue could be?

When I try to register a server in Analysis Services I get a error saying 'Automation error' and I also get a message saying Unable to open Registry Key 'SOFTWAREMICROSOFTOLAP ServerOLAP Manager'
Hmm.. where to start? Well, I have installed proj serv 2007 and have it up and running fine. I was recently asked to get the data analysis portion of the proj server working. After much digging for some guides, I found a few helpful and got sql analysis server installed with everything else it need to operate. (as far as I know). One of the guides that I have encountered and using asks me to use sql studio management to access the analysis server. Problem is, I dont have the option to choose a server type. (Its greyed out) Which only has the option for "Database Engine". Furthermore, I cannont complete the steps required without this option. Could someone please, please, point me in the right direction and possibly tell me what Ive done wrong. Project server 2007 documentation is horrible. Just to be able to use the server has been a process.
I have a complex scenario , so first I want to ask out the feasibility of it . I think its better if I state the scenario and some one on this forum reply to it , I need to build an application (e.g credit card application , Loan Application etc ) that requires some approval from expert , what I firstly want is that I apply datamining on this data so that next time when I enter the data the result (approval or reject ) should be given by datamining tool , this I gather is poosible by using Analysis Services in SQL 2005 , but I also want the bases of that decision ( I mean the rules/some thing else that the Datamining created agaisnt the data entered ) , So can any one do any help on this , you can also reach me at razi_rais@yahoo.com . its preety much urgent so your prompt response is higly appreciated.
Hi, I have used MIcrosoft Sql Server 2000 for a while, namely analysis services. What I want to know is if Sql Server Express Edition 2008 has also tools to handle with datawarehouses, olap and data mining, that is, which are the limitations of SQLServer 2008 Express Edition, they are related with that tools?
if it provides that tools, do you know good documentation related with these issues?? And books??
Is it possible to have Analysis Services in both modes or are they mutually exclusive?I have a machine setup with Multidimensional AS and would like to know if it's possible to add a Service in Tabular mode.

I made an analysis services project but I can't deploy it because it can't find the server I search for the analysis service in the Service Control Manager but I can't find it. Is it possible to download and install it with this version of sql server (workgroup) ?
I have noticed that analysis services has stopped on two instance on my server.For the first instance, I go to configuration manager and try to start the service I get the standard service did not respond in a timely fashion error, if I change the account that runs it from the domain user account to local system it starts up fine, but try changing it back I get the following WMI error: The server threw an exception. [0x80010105], I see this error in google but it always refers to the agent and not analysis services. In the application log, I see the following error...The service cannot be started: Message-Handling subsystem: The message manager for the defaul locale cannot be found. The locale will be changed to US English. File system error: The following error occurred during a file operation: Access is denied. But access denited to what? The services had been up and running for a while and nothing on the server has changed.
As on the second instance gives me the following error in the application log...The file <path>CryptKey.bin' could nor be opened. Please check the file for permissions or see if other applications locked it.
Then further up...The service cannot be started: Message-Handling subsystem: The message manager for the defaul locale cannot be found. The locale will be changed to US English. File system error: The following error occurred while opening the file <path>CryptKey.bin.
I should say the <path> part is me, saving typing not part of the error. And again, if I change the account running the service to local system if all changes and starts fine, but if I try to change it back I get WMI Error: The process terminated unexpectedly [0x8007042b]. If I hit 'apply' a second time I get another WMI Error, except this time it says 'The server threw an exception. [0x80010105].
I'm performing an upgrade of a DW Warehouse Server from SQL Server 2008 to another machine with SQL Server 2014.I know that you can perform the restore via the SSMS GUI but I want to script it out.URL....
I have a 3 node cluster running 6 instances of SQL Server, I want to install Analysis Services along side of one of the SQL 2005 instances. Thus one of the cluster instances would host SQL Server DB, Analysis Services and SQL Agent. Is this possible or does Analysis Services need it's own Cluster Instance.
I would like to count the working days of a spesific time range and then find the Average Daily Dispatches.Currently the time range is at WHERE statement. how to count the dates in a month range. I prefer not to add a new calc Member.

Hi, im using Excel 2002/2003 Add-in for SQL Server Analysis Services and i have the following problem.
Ive created a report with the addin and i saved it in a share directory. I have users in differents workstations with windows 2000 sp 4, excel 2003 and mdac 2.8 the problem is that sometimes when users open the report and want to do a drill down of a dimension it isnt any data..
I installed the SQL Server Express Advances w/ Reporting Services, but it doesn't appear to be working. When I bring the URL up in my web browser all I get is this:

I have been trying to get the ValueR column of the following query through the MDX but instead getting ValueW as output of the MDX

MDX written for the above query is

[MTMROR] measure has the aggregate function Sum. What i can get from this behavior is MDX is first aggregating the result and default aggregation function is Sum. When i try to see the value with more granular data by having the date dimensions on the row (un-commenting the date dimension) i get the correct log and exp log values. Its showing the correct value as date dimension is most granular level in the fact table. While trying to get the data at less granular level(Fund level), getting the sum function applied automatically.
If i set AggregateFunction to none in the cube structure, i get null as the output.
How could i apply the log function before the sum function in the [MTMROR] measure?
I have an issue which I cannot seem to resolve, what I need to do is to create a new member in an existing dimension which lets me filter the results of the last two weeks (this should start from last week, so ignoring the current week). I've tried a few approaches which seemed to have worked when browsing via excel, but when I tried using this in PowerView things were not right. I need a graph which shows the day on the Axis and then a single measure, with the filter being set to the last two weeks.
In management studio I got the following to work and show me the week, date and the measure:

This filters the results and only shows the relevant weeks and dates. When I try to put the LastPeriods logic into a new member, it returns all the dates in the dimension. This is what I am trying:

We have run into an issue on a dedicated SSAS 2012 SP1 server where the allocated memory is not being utilized, causing some slowness in use, connections, and queries.
Total Memory on the server is 512, and after startup, the utilized memory gets up to a max of 60GB and stops there. Checking the Resource Monitor, msmdsrv.exe is only taking around 39GB overall. With the current properties, that should be at 330GB. Am I missing something in the settings or in configuration that should be changed?

I'm looking for a new way to publish reports based on OLAP data and was very disappointed to find that Reporting Services does not natively support displaying MDX query results in a matrix. While it is possible to assign an MDX query to the matrix control in Reporting Services, the two main problems are that the columns of the query must be measures (not dimensions), and it does not support display of server based formatting (fore color, back color, and font flags).
Does anyone know of any custom control that properly deals with Analysis Services data?
