Is there any way to find the person or user who did update transaction
manually
in query analyser and not through application in certain time?
As i have check thru log file but cannot find anything.
Any command or software to check it?

I would like to know if there is a way to find out who changed a users roles/access WITHOUT using the audit function. For example, if a user account was created and given SA access then changed to read only, how can I find out who made that change? I tried searching for an answer, but kept getting no results. I'm thinking this may tie into the sys.sysusers view?

Hello,
I am trying to migrate reporting services from SQL server 2000 to SQL 2005. I followed the migration steps listed in one of the TechNet documents. Installed SQL 2005 and SP2.
Backed up existing SQL 2000 databases and restored on SQL 2005.
Went to Configuration tool and then to the Database setup. Connected to SQL 2005.
Clicked on the Upgrade button. The upgrade fails and I always get the following errors:
"The database version (C.0.6.54) does not match your reporting services installation. You must upgrade your Reporting services database"
Then I get this exception:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to search for such SPs in my database in which the queries for update a table contains where clause which uses non primary key while updating rows in table.
If employee table have empId as primary key and an Update query is using empName in where clause to update employee record then such SP should be listed. so there would be hundreds of tables with their primary key and thousands of SPs in a database. How can I find them where the "where" clause is using some other column than its primary key.
If there is any other hint or query to identify such queries that lock tables, I only found the above few queries that are not using primary key in where clause.

This is my first time to deploy an asp.net2 web site. Everything is working fine on my local computer but when i published the web site on a remote computer i get the error "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed" (only in pages that try to access the database)

View 8 Replies View RelatedOur system administrator set up an NT server group in order to allowour users to login to our application via https to our sql server.The group appears as a User in SQL Server when you look at it inEnterprise Manager. That said, I can not see the users associatedwith the group from Enterprise Manager, but know they can login to thedatabase.The problem is this. When we login via the web we get access to thedatabase without problem, but when you look at the current_user whatyou see is the login Name the user entered and NOT the name of thegroup/User. That is to say, I can see a UserID which is not listed asa User in SQL Server and can't see the name of the group, which islisted as a user in SQL Server.I need to know who's logging in order to direct them to theappropriate web page via their role. Before the admin set up thegroup, I was using sp_helpuser to get the role, but then again I hadthe userID to do this.The question I have now, is there any way to see what thegroup/user is who logged in i.e. the goup listed as the User inEnterprise Manager? View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier one of my team member has created a user login and password but forgot the password after few days and now we need to know the password of that login. Some of the application are using this login so we can delete and create a new login with the same name hence is there any possibility or script to find out the password of the existing login.

I work for a ISV producing HR applications.
When user starts the applications the program shows all databases that the user have access to. This is done by select all names from master..sysdatabases and then trying to "USE dbname" to see if user have access,. Users doesn't have sa rights.
This procedure takes approximately 90 secs for a server with 500 databases and that has become a problem.
Does anyone know off a faster method, any suggestions?

Hi, I have a stored procedure that calls a scalar function. It works fine on my development database, but on my production database, I get this error when trying to execute the procedure: Cannot find either column "dbo" or the user-defined function or aggregate "dbo.MyFunction", or the name is ambiguous. However, I am able to execute the function outside of the procedure like this: select dbo.MyFunction(0, 0) Anyone have idea? I can't figure it out.

I need to get a website up and running for a small group of people. I've had SQL Server for a while, but didn't have any use for it. It came with Visual Studio 2005, which gave me a little know how on scripting. Now, I have Visual Web Developer and what I need to make a web page. I just need to know how to configure all my settings to allow my website to be viewed online by anyone with an internet connection. I'm a person that understands detailed or simple directions, but I can not seem to find directions online. Now, I know what your thinking, but I've never attemped anything like this before. So, please, HELP! I need and want to learn as much as possible.

I'm getting a specific error when i try to run a .sql script for a Custom TableProfile from the Asp.net site,when i Parse the .sql file Commands execute perfectly. But when i actually "Execute" the .sql script i get the following errors::
Msg 15151, Level 16, State 1, Line 5
Cannot find the user 'WYATT-PCWyattASPNET', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.
How can i fix this??

I need to query a table of data that has multiple datetime entries in it relating to individual customer records. So one customer could have 1 entry, or it could have 10 entries. I need to be able to identify the earliest of these records, and then on this earliest record update a field value. Example:
My Fields in the table are as follows.
Log_ID, Cust_Ref_No, ActionDateTime, Action_Code
The Log_ID is the primary key, and I need to update the Action_Code field on only the earliest entry against a customer record i.e.

12347,ABCDEF,01/01/2007 17:00:00.000,2
In the above I need to change the first record Action_Code from a 6 to a 1, but leave all other records unaffected.

Sorry if this is a simple question, I've not seen any similar posts.
I'm just finished installed SQL 2005 on Vista Business edition (first time for both). I subsequently installed SP2 for 2005.
Upon completing the SP2 installation, the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration manager opened asking me to grant admin rights to the account I used to install the software. The account I used is the local admin account on the machine (only account on the machine as this is my dev box) .
Nothing shows in the two boxes below on this dialog, "Available Privelages" is blank and "Privelages granted is blank".
In addition, if I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager, and click on SQL Server 2005 Services, nothing shows in the right pain. It's as if the software installed, and yet no instance of the database exists or is running.
My thought was that the admin account I used to install the software doesn't have sufficient privelages to to start the SQL Server or SQLBrowser. So I went to computer management, Local Users and groups (machine isn't on a network yet), and made sure this same account is part of the administrators group.
Any ideas on how I should solve this?
