MSOLAP Error. Please Help!!!

Jul 20, 2007

I have an Openrowset query, which connects to a cube and obtains the data in a table. This is run every day. This process has been running for over a year but now all of a sudden doesn't work and gives the erros mentioned below. When I reduce the records to be returned to about 1/4, then it runs fine else not. We are using Enterprise Version. Any help will be really appreciated.

Error when tried once -

OLE DB provider 'MSOLAP' reported an error. The provider ran out of memory.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: An error occurred during attempt to get a cell value.]
[OLE/DB provider returned message: The operation has failed because of an error in the COM component - unknown error ]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSOLAP' IRowset::GetNextRows returned 0x8007000e: The provider ran out of memory.].

The second time I received -

ODBC: Msg 0, Level 19, State 1
SqlDumpExceptionHandler: Process 77 generated fatal exception c0000005 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. SQL Server is terminating this process.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: An unexpected internal error has occurred.] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Function sequence error

How To Launch MSOLAP Cube Processing In Batch Mode?

Mar 12, 2001

Jonathan Yang Jonathan.Yang@Weyerhaeuser.Com

How to launch MSOLAP cube processing in batch mode?
================================================== =

When one wants to run SQL Statement or Stored procedure in batch mode, OSQL.exe can be used.

Now we have created OLAP cube and want to process(populate) cube. From MSOLAP Analysis manage we can right click a cube name then click “Process”. But how to do this in batch mode? I.e. any equivalent thing of OSQL.exe to help process cube?

I believe a matured tool should work good in both interactive and batch mode. Unfortunately I did not find how to launch cube processing from MS OLAP documents. Looks like we have to write one using DSO supplied by Microsoft. Do you know if there is any tool for us not to write one? Pls help.

LINKED SERVER NESTED OPENQUERY SAMPLE FROM TIPS AND TRICKS DOESN'T APPEARS TO FAIL WITH MSOLAP.

Feb 27, 2007

Is it that I have a syntax error in the nested OPENQUERY or is there another issue? Do I need to specify a different provider in the Server Link such as OLEDB? Non-nested OPENQUERYs work fine.

I'm generally following theTips and Tricks article.

"Executing predictions from the SQL Server relational engine". One problem is the sample doesn't actually complete the example query after the second nested OPENQUERY call.

e.g.

  SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(DMServer,
'select €¦ FROM Modell PREDICTION JOIN OPENQUERY€¦')

The SQL Server server link's provider is configured to allow adhoc access. I appears that the inner OPENQUERY cannot be prepared by Analysis Server or the Server link provider? but I need to return a key value t.[CardTransactionID] for joining to SQL Server data elements.

OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "DMServer" returned message "Errors in the back-end database access module. The data provider does not support preparing queries.".

Msg 7321, Level 16, State 2, Line 2 An error occurred while preparing the query
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(DMServer,
'SELECT
              t.[CardTransactionID],
              t.[PostingDate],
              [Misuse Abuse Profile].[Even Dollar Purchase],
PredictProbability([Misuse Abuse Profile].[Even Dollar Purchase]) AS Score,
PredictSupport([Misuse Abuse Profile].[Even Dollar Purchase]) AS Suppt,
              t.[BillingAmount]
            FROM
              [Misuse Abuse Profile]
            PREDICTION JOIN
              OPENQUERY([Athena Dev],
                ''SELECT
                  [CardTransactionID],
                  [PostingDate],
                  [BillingAmount],
                  [AccountNumber],
                  [SupplierStateProvinceCode],
                  [MerchantCategoryCode],
                  [PurchaseIDFormat],
                  [TransactionTime],
                  [TaxAmountIncludedCode],
                  [Tax2AmountIncludedCode],
                  [OrderTypeCode],
                  [MemoPostFlag],
                  [EvenDollarPurchase]
                FROM
                  [dbo].[vMisuseAbuseProfile]
                '') AS t
            ON
              [Misuse Abuse Profile].[Account Number] = t.[AccountNumber] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Supplier State Province Code] = t.[SupplierStateProvinceCode] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Merchant Category Code] = t.[MerchantCategoryCode] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Purchase ID Format] = t.[PurchaseIDFormat] AND
              [Misuse Abuse Profile].[Transaction Time] = t.[TransactionTime] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Tax Amount Included Code] = t.[TaxAmountIncludedCode] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Tax2 Amount Included Code] = t.[Tax2AmountIncludedCode] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Order Type Code] = t.[OrderTypeCode] AND
[Misuse Abuse Profile].[Memo Post Flag] = t.[MemoPostFlag] AND
              [Misuse Abuse Profile].[Even Dollar Purchase] = t.[EvenDollarPurchase]
                      ')

In desparation I tried returning the case key (CardTransactionID) and the predictive column elements but I get an error when I try that. I assume this is a no-no?
OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "DMServer" returned message "Error (Data mining): Only a predictable column (or a column that is related to a predictable column) can be referenced from the mining model in the context at line 2, column 15.".

MSOLAP To Do SUM(measure A) /SUM (measure B) In Different Levels

May 17, 2001

So far we are happy with MS OLAP 2000 service.

In the past we did cubes with aggregation method using summary.

MS OLAP server allows aggregate functions (Sum, Min, Max, Count, and Distinct Count).

But now the customer wants to know percentage of SUM(measure A) /SUM (measure B) in different levels and dimension combination.

Any idea?

Right- I Need Training!!

May 12, 2006

Hi all,

my collegue is leaving, his masters in computer science has ensured he has solved most problems we've encountered iver two years...

now im told i need at least a few training sessions under my belt to take over parts of his job.

Basically i need sql server traing and vb but am confused as where to start, a lot of the courses ive looked at assume you have knowledge in certain areas, my problem is i have loads of gaps as ive learnt on the job so need some recommendations- are any of the MS courses geared to people like me or do you need a foundation in the subject....ive read stuff like SAMS teachyourself SQL and found it just doesn't go deep enough....too many examples are just skimmed over....it also doesn't teach you the kind of things i learn here....

im happy to go on a course which repeats stuff i already know whilst teaching me the fundamentals but can only seem to find course geared to specific job roles which require prior knowledge- so where did you guys start? im in the UK btw

SQL Training

Sep 15, 2006

I am new to the SQL enviroment and I am looking for a good course to learn more. I have been in the computer industry for a long time but not exposed to this program. I am looking for some training videos/online/books in order to learn more not just to pass a test for certification. I thought I would check some forums and see if anyone could offer up any suggestions of companies/authors for a person that has computer knowledge but knows nothing about SQL.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Input On Training

May 8, 2007

Hi there,
I'll be going through a training couse for SQL Server next month. The class I'm signed up for is M2780: Maintaining a Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005. My company uses SQL Server 2000 now and unless I give good reasons to upgrade to 2005, we won't be upgrading. I have very little DBA experience, but since I was told SQL Server is my responsibility, I figured it would make sense to go through some type of training for it. My questions are: Is there enough the same between the two that it makes sense for me to take this class? Are there good business reasons I can give for upgrading? If we don't upgrade is it worth taking a class for 2000 vs 2005?

Thanks for any input.

Log Shipping For Training Database

Would Log Shipping be appropriate for this nightly update of Training from Production?

Training A Neural Network

Aug 10, 2006

I have two problems while trying to train a neural network.
My network have 10 continuous input ad 1 discrete output (3 states)

The parameters I chose are :
-Hidden node ratio 10
-Holdout percentage 10

The others are default.

First, when i train it thanks to BI dev studio, the training is very fast (less than 5 seconds) and the results compared with the training set are bad (at least 30% of errors). Is there a way to improve the training (I don't care about the time required to train if it works)?

Second, I decided to train the network using SQL server management studio and I get this error which I can't understand : "Les connexions ad hoc telles que spécifiées dans des clauses OPENROWSET ne peuvent pas être utilisées sur ce serveur". Translated it may be something like "this server can't use ad hoc connections such as specified in OPENROWSET".

My query is :

INSERT INTO MINING model [Associations Learn2]([From Requete1],[From Requete2],
[Keywords1],[Keywords2],[Nb Apparition1],[Nb Apparition2],[Nombre Requete Distincte],[Probabilite],[Titre1],[Titre2],[Type],[Uid])
OPENROWSET
('SQLNCLI.1','Data Source=STAG-XP-EDITION;user=sa;password=***;Initial Catalog=OpenFind_StockagePreNeurone',
'SELECT [From Requete1],[From Requete2],
[Keywords1],[Keywords2],[Nb Apparition1],[Nb Apparition2],[Nombre Requete Distincte],

)

Could someone explain me the error?

How To Get The Training Error From The Model?

May 9, 2007

Hi, everyone here.

I am trying to get the training error of the model processed which can reveal how much the model fits the cases. The training error can reveal how many cases (from training set) are classified correctly. The lower traing error is, the more the model fits the training set. (Maybe overfitted) But I found it hard to get. I saw the life chart in AS 2005 which I am not quite understand and don't know how to code it in my program.

Is there some way to getting traing error or predicting error?

I am now using this awful way to get the training error:

select t.*,CollegeTree.CollegePlans as pred

from collegetree
prediction join
openquery(DSource,'select * from CollegePlans') as t
on CollegeTree.StudentID = t.StudentID and
...
where t.CollegePlans = CollegeTree.CollegePlans;

and then use datareader.ItemCount to get the count of cases which classified correctly.

Keyword: train error, predict error, data mining, analysis service
