I am familiar with Access and I write a lot of asp queries connected to an Access db.
I am now working with a full blown SQL Server db. I have accessed the tables using Express Management Tools, but now I want to know if I can create a report or export data form a SQL table into Excel like I can from Access.
I am currently using SQL Server Management Studio Express. I see there are other options to install, will any of these give me the tools I need to export?
Hello! Can't download Sql Server 2005 Express, althouth i downloaded without any problem all other express products: c#, c++, visual studio from the same page. The download even start ! I click on the download button and nothing happen. Does somebody have an idea ? Thanx info: i use mozilla as browser on XP pro, because since i upgraded IE6 to IE7, IE is KO, even after uninstal IE7 and re-instal IE6.
I'm trying to export a SQL 2005 express database to SQL 2000 without success, really a pain in the ass :-( But I found that it may be a hope but I can't find the page to download the in this page mentioned additional download for SQL 2005 express that will add DTS functionality to it.
I have followed the link to download SP1 of SQLServer 2005 Express Edition, but, on that page nowhere it is mentioned that downloads offered are of SP1, it simply says that SQLServer 2005 Express edition.
What is the correct link and am I really on the correct page of SP1 ?
I was trying to download SQL Server Management Studio Express from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/default.aspx. The links on this page seem to be broken.
I tried to download the Mgmt Studio Express by clicking on a link that points to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65110.
Anyone else facing this issue? Is there another place I can get SQL Server Management Studio Express from?
Hi there. I'm a complete novice, trying to insall SQL express 2005. I see on the install page the following message: Download the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
Before you complete a Microsoft SQL Server download and install any member of the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition family, you must install the .NET Framework 2.0.
When I click on the link, and go to the downloads page at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263.aspx I see there are several downloads concerning .net 2.0, including
.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86)
.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x64)
.NET 2.0 SP1 (x86)
and others Which of these files should I download? Or should I be looking for something else?
I have downloaded and installed SQL Server Express and also downloaded and installed SQL Server Express Service Release 2. I have also downloaded several of the Visual Studio tutorials about how to do things.
However, I have been unable to download SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition, nor SQL Server 2005 Books OnLine, nor SQL Server Samples so I really cannot do anything with the *#$@ thing.
There are no error messages. The downloads begin and then freeze after downloading about 3-4MB. They stay frozen until they time out. I have turned off all firewalls, virus protection, turned off all security in Internet Explorer. I thought at first it was because I had not yet registered but I registered and it still won't download. What else can be wrong?
I am on XP Prof SR 2, not vista, all my software is uptodate, in order to install SQL Server Express of course I downloaded and installed the required installation program and the Net version 2 Framework. Plenty of disk space, 2 GB of ram, dual processor Dell XPS PC on a DSL connection. I have read the info about reasons for download problems and have checked the bitsadmin service, downloaded the update for it (it told me I already had it) and downloaded the latest version of Windows Support Tools and ran the bitsadmin /util /repairservice /force and it said all was fine. I tried it on a second machine with same results. I am not a beginner, I have been writing code for Access for several years. "Support" says this forum is the only place to go since I refuse to pay them $99 to help me demo what is theoretically a sample piece of free software.
however I keep getting a page displaying a "Content Not Found" message. Would anyone be able to tell me is this the correct page or should I be downloading this from someplace esle?
Also does the Express edition contain a copy of Enterprise Manager?
Where do I find the setup files needed to redistribute sql server express installation files? I downloaded the SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE but the files disappear as soon as you cancel the installation.
I need the sql server setup files to package with my program fr distribution.
i only get the german version. But i want to download the original english version. Because i like more to work with the english terms than the translated german ones.
Can anyone provide me with an alternate download link for SQL Server Management Studio Express?
My download attempts are stalling either immediately or after downloading under 200K. Other links I've found on the web seem to point back to Microsoft's servers, as I'm getting the same behavior. I successfully downloaded SQL Server Express, and have since rebooted and successfully downloaded files from other sites. Interestingly, I can't download the 64 bit version, either (I need 32 bit, but figured it was worth seeing whether 64 bit would download).
The filename of the file I can't download: SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi
Looks like I sucessfully downloaded SQL Server Express Edition w/Advanced Services SP2 on my Vista-based notebook. Took care of the prerequisites from downloading with Vista. I see the Configuration Manager, and Error and Usage Reporting. But......How do I launch SQL Server Express please? Thank you! Sandra Shokite
I am trying to download SQL Server Express Edition in Germany however the site does not allow me to choose the language of the download. How can I get English version of the software in Germany?
I would like to install SQL express on a PC which already has SQL 2003 - I use enterprise manager to manage a database. I require express as part of a teaching role (my students have installed it). Is is possible to do this or should I remove the full version
I have been trying to setup SharePoint Services 3.0 on 2003 Server (Advanced) and when I run the setup for it I get this error: SharePonit Products and Technologies Configuration Wizzard "Failed to start the database service MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE. Repair this product by selecting it from the Add/Remove Programs menu."
I have run a repair on all of the SQL products in the Add/Remove Programs menu and I continue to get the same error as above.
Please advise as I have un-installed and re-installed SQL Express 2005 and SharePoint Services 3.0 prior to this posting.
Mainly I think that sql express is totaly stand alone and thus does not need you to be running VS2005 but Id like some clarification on if it will work with someone running visual C# 2003.
I run 05 myself but I know some people having to tie into the school server due to they are running 03.
If they DL SQL Server Express and the management tool can they use it with thier C# 2003?
Is there a way to integrate Access 2003 as the Front End for SQL Express?
I tried, but I can't make a new Access project because I need to specify a login/pass and I have no idea what those are set to, or if I need to make an account somehow.
As you can see, I am totally new to SQL and any help would be appreciated.
Hello, I'll start by saying that I don't know the first thing about SQL. I have product that I am trying to setup on a windows 2003 R2 SP2 server that requires SQL Server Express 2005. I have this same setup installed under Windows XP Pro SP2 and it works fine.
The product uses a PHP script to talk to the SQL Server to create the orginal DB but I get the following errors: *******************************************************************************************************************************************
Creating initial MFP Database... Warning: mssql_pconnect() [function.mssql-pconnect]: Unable to connect to server: localhost,1444 in C:Inetpubwwwrootdbwrap.php on line 15

********************************************************************************************************* I have enabled the running of PHP scripts under IIS in Windows 2003 R2 (along with all of the other listed web executables). But I am stuck. For some reason the PHP scripts seem to either not have permission to talk to the DB, or Windows has some extra security in it that I need to know how to work correctly with.
I also am checking my ODBC > System DSN when I try to craete my datasource, I get: Connection Failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server Error: 2 [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2]. Connection failed; SQLState: 'HYT00' SQL Server Error: 0 [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Login timeout expired Connection Failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server Error: 2 [Microsoft][SQL Native Client] An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to the SQL server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.
FYI I have set TCP/IP properties for SQL under Protocol > General > Enable - YES.
I have SQL Server 2005 Express running and I am creating a database through access (Access 2003 SP2) and no problem it creates the database...
But when I try to create other objects like views and database diagrams, I get the message below which is quite detailed but I just don't know where to get the service packs or updates needed to have this problem solved. Can anyone point out what the problem and the fixes are?
Here is the message that I get:
"This version of MS Office Access doesn't support design changes with the version of MS SQL Server your access project is connected to. See MS Office Update Website for the latest information and downloads (on the Help menu, click Office on the Web). YOur design changes will not be saved.
You have connected to a version of SQL server later than SQL Server 2000. This version of Visual Studio or Access that you are using was released before teh version of SQL Server to which you are connected. For this reason you might encounter problems.
Please check with MS to see if there is a service pack that you should apply to Visual Studio or Office in order to get support for the version of SQL Server to which you are connected.
You can continue but any new object types might not be enumerated, and it will not be possible to save any objects or database diagrams thatyou create using the Visual Database Tools."
I would really like to be using SQLServer Express 2005 for some desktop database applications and replace MSDE. However, I am using VS.NET 2003 and so far I have not been able to discover if that combination will work.
Does anybody know if there is and update for access 2003 which could make it compatible with SQLServer Express. Actually XML Field are not supported, Diagram too, and surely much more.
I recently started developing a new Access project for a client, and decided to try out Access 2003 with SQL Express 2005. Everything was going fine until I tried to modify a table from within Access. I got an error message that SQL Express is incompatible with Access 2003, and it suggested I go to the Microsoft website and search for a patch/upgrade to solve this.
I tried to ignore it, and it started warning me that none of my table edits would be saved.
I looked around, but I can't find anything about this.
