Anyone Recently Installed SQL Server 2000 Eval Version???

Hello,

I am having trouble installing Evaluation copy of SQL Server on my
notebook, which has XP, P4 processor,1G Ram, and 14 G harddisk space.

After I run the Setup.exe, I get the files files extracted in the
SQLEVAL directory.

As per the instruction, I need to run Autorun.exe file. For some
reason, when I try to run this file, a new windows pops up, which is
blank black screen with cursor flying around in the window. The title
of the window is
C:windowssystem32wowexec.exe

This is how far I have reached while trying to install the database. I
would really appreciate if someone could provide some suggestions.

I have been running SQL Server 2005 Express with the Management Studio Express. I just downloaded and installed the Eval (Trial) version of SQL Server 2005 but have not been able to get it working. Here are a couple of questions:1. Is there a potential confict with having both versions on my machine. I don't want to uninstall express since I may have to do back to it in 180 days.2. Is there a program comparable to the Management Studio for the Eval version of SQL Server 2005?3. How do I access the Eval version? I found the folder where it installed on my C drive but don't know what to do with it.Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi All,

I have been using the 180 day evaluation version of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and I have my license key now for the purchased version. I read on the Microsoft site I am able to upgrade to the non-trial version without uninstalling the eval version. But for Standars Edition Microsoft states:

"... If upgrading to the fully licensed version of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition, Workgroup Edition, or Developer Edition, it is recommended that you uninstall the 180-day trial version of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition before installing the fully licensed version of the other editions..."

Is there anyway out where I don't need to uninstall my eval database server?
If it is necessary to uninstall eval version, then what is the best way to preserve all my current databases?

We have been using the 180 day evaluation version and I have my license key now for the purchased version. I read on the Microsoft site I am able to upgrade to the non-trial version without uninstalling the eval version. But it doesn't tell me HOW to do it. I was expecting a menu option, maybe on the About Screen of Management Studio to enter it. (How naive is that?) Is there a simple way to tell the Eval version I am now licensed?

Import/Export Causes Fatal Error- In Server 2005 Eval. Version

Have the 2005 Enterprise Evaluation version. Trying to import data from a flat file to DB table. Tried running wizard from designer studio and from creating a data flow in SBIDS

Either way I am able to setup and start excution and then bombs with a fatal error.

"SQL Server Import and Export Wizard has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Asks to Debug or close.. Tried installing on 2 other machines and having same issue. Tried several different data files and tables same issue.

Does anyone know if this is a bug? Am I missing something with permissions?

Using Triggers To Get Recently Updated Info In SQL Server 2000

I am trying to change values of two tables in my sql server 2000 database. When one of the tables is modified in some way like adding/updating a record, I need a trigger procedure to copy this new data from the first table to the second. Problem is, how do I get the newly inserted or updated data from the first table? How do I specify that I only want the data which caused the trigger to execute? Anyone know?

I have a database running on what transpires to be an evaluation copy of SQL 6.5 which has expired. How can I install a full licenced copy of 6.5 whilst retaining databases, users etc.
Note:when starting the SQL server service it immediately shuts down due to the eval expiry. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We are currently running with Eval 120day limit SQL6.5 SP4 and now wish to upgrade to the full version. We have now purchased the full version but whenever we try to "upgrade" the server all we get told is that we should "Use control panel to add or remove components" or we are told that we should "use service pack 3 to update". I can only assume that this message is refering to Add/Remove programs in the control panel but there is no reference to SQL here.

Any ideas how we can upgrade to the full legal version without loosing our SMS data?

Upgrading SQL2005 SP2 Eval To Full Version Issues

Hi,

I've got an issue - A client required SQL 2005 for a new CRM package. They run SBS 2003 standard R2, so I ordered the upgrade to premium. No worries, but the developer needed SQL before the package arrived, so we installed the eval version, and then applied SP2 because this was needed for the CRM package.

Now the full version has arrived. I tried running setup both with and without SKUUPGRADE=1 and neither way will let me upgrade, stating that a later version is already in use.

I do have a good backup of the databases (I also have an entire image-based backup as well) but I don't want a disaster. My question:
Do I uninstall SP2 then upgrade to the RTM version of SQL2005 workgroup edition (the one with SBS2003 premium) or is there some other trickery required?

I'd prefer to get a smooth upgrade rather than ending up in a situation where I'd have to restore a heap of things.

When I ran @@version I get this:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.2047.00 (Intel X86) Apr 14 2006 01:12:25 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 1)

I assume this is a licensed version because the std edition does not have a trial license? Can someone confirm this?

If this were a trial version, what could I expect to see?

I can't seem to find which SQL Server Compact Edition version is pre-installed on the Windows Mobile 6 rom.
I guess it is 3.0, but I'm not sure about it.
Another question is, if I use SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 by deploying the .dll files as part of my application's CAB installer, will this be a problem for Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6?

Detect Installed Version?

Today I installed SQL Server 2005 developer edition on a test server. Afterwards I also installed the SP1. During the installation of SP1, the installation program said the server should be restarted afterwards, which I did.

Now when I look at the Add/Remove Programs dialog I have several items which mention SP1 on the SQL Server items.

But when I request the server properties in Managemnt Studio I see the version number 9.0.2047. Shouldn't this be 9.1.XXXX?

How can I be sure the SP1 is correcty insatlled?

Hello Everyone, I am trying to install SQL 2005 on my machine. All I want is the functionality that I enjoyed with SQL 2000- Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager. For some reason, the version of SQL 2005 that I am installing is only giving me an option for the Configuration Manger which does not provide access to the Management Console. It is my understanding that I need the Management Console to create databases, look at tables in my databases, etc., etc. just like I did in Enterprise Manager. Is there anyone who can tell me what I'm doing wrong? Currently, the cd that I have says SQL Developer Edition. Thanks.

Would anyone here please guide me how can I check the version of reporting services installed? My problem is in my virtual machine, both SQL Server and SQL Server 2005 are installed, but I can create report in the vistual studio 2005 IDE, but cant deploy it to the reporting server database, in addition, I cant connect to reporting services database in SQL Server 2005 management studio.

Is it possible to install two different versions of reporting services in the same virtual machine? Please anyone here give me some advice for that. Thanks a lot.

Eval Between SQL 2000 32bit And SQL 2005 64bit

Hi

I just started a new job and one of my first assignments was to determine and prove the improvement between SQL Server 2000 32 bit and SQL Server 2005 64bit extension. (Itanium may come later but for now we will live with x64)

I have used SQL 2005 before but only with a fresh install and a new application built from the ground up. Now we want to upgrade our present databases to 2k5. In a previous test by another DBA, he found the SQL 2005 ran slower. However, he realized that he was using SQL 2005 32bit on Windows 2003 64bit. Now we have everything in place, here are the steps I have accomplished so far.

Loaded Windows 2003 64 and SQL 2005 64.
Made a copy of an existing database from a SQL 2000 32 bit
Attached this database to the new SQL 2005 server. However, I keep the compatibility at 8.0.
Updated the statistics and backed the db up.
Had another DBA run a Profiler trace on the production server.
Replayed the trace on the new server.

My problem is this doesn��t seem to give the information I am looking for. First, we were only looking at queries over 5 minutes and only looking at things from a duration standpoint. We are going to change this. Second, even though I created a template that looks like the one used on the production server, it is not using it.

So how do I compare performance on this 64bit server verses the 32bit SQL 2000. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I have installed an SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition (SP4) on acomputer that has Windows Server 2003 on it.The server is connected tothe workgroup "WORK" and has no Active Directory. Now I cannot connectto that database server from other computers in the network. On theserver itself, I can registrate the instance from the own SQL Server2000 and also an instance from an other SQL Server 2000 installation ona Windows 2000 Server in the network.The network consists of a Windows 2000 Server (with a SQL Server 2000installation), some workstations (W2000 Pro, Win XP Pro) and the newinstalled Windows Server 2003.When I try to connect to that new database Server with Query Analyzerfrom an other computer I get allways the message box with the text like"...SQL Server doesnt exist or access denied. I am facing a problem with Convert function in SQL server 2000 with sp3 installed , Japanese version

In sql server 2000 (sp1 installed) Japanese version, the convert(datetime,,111) gives me date in the format yyyy-mm-dd hh:min:sec

But in sql server 2000 (sp3 instaled) Japanese version, the convert(datetime, ,111) gives me date in the format yyyy-mm-dd.

I need the hh:min:sec to do an exact date comparison.

The problem is solved if I use Convert(datetime,,120).

Any pointers on the root cause of why the problem occurs with convert() function once sp3 is installed?

We have just installed a SQL Server 2000 (SP 3A) onto a computer thathas Windows-2003 Server on it. Now, we cannot get access to thatdatabase server from other computers. Hi

I have another question now.

As the topic said, my sql server 2000 installed on windows xp sp2, the computer's name is "ADMIN" and the server 2000's name is "ADMIN".

When i startup the sql server 2000, it just listening on shared memory and name pipes, not including the "TCP/IP" . So i can not connect to the sql server using the port 1433.

Some people said that the reason was the system's firewall. I also found some supports on the websites 'www.support.microsoft.com'. It said that you can set the port 1433 or the sqlservr.exe to the execption. I also do that, but still not works.

Is there any things i forget and how can i solve the problems! Thanks for advances.
