Ok.. I have a web site I am developing in Visual Studio 2005. Its VB based with SQL Server 2005 as the backend. IIS 6 is the web engine and all of this is running on a Windows 2003 Server.
Here is the problem.. I have a form that authenticates a user and then redirects them to another page. The redirection is not working. All I get is 'Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.' So I decided to trouble shoot a little and I added a Forgot your password control and a Sign up for new account control to the page as well. When I do the Forgot my password it sends me the username and password in an email, but it just refuses to accept them.
If I use the sign up for a new account control it actually lets me into the redirect page but if I log out and try to get back in it fails. Its crazy and if driving me out of my mind.
If someone wants to help me out I would appreciate it. I have been racking my brain over this for too many days.

Ps. - I have read every thread and tried just about everything regarding this issue. It has to be something stupid and simple that I am overlooking.

The above statement does not pick jobs.ApplicationsClosed= 3/30/2004(that is today'sdate) If I change 3/30/2004 to 3/31/2004 it picks it up. What is wrong with my syntax?
There is a field which I'm doing a sUM() on to get a total for a QtyRecieved from one of the tbls in the SP.. However, the QtyRecieved field is set to be a two decimal place numeric field.
The sp works fine without issues until on the of the qty received is not a round number.
If it's a number with a decimal in it (i.e 5.5) then this is show as a seperate result and not SUM'd with the others.
Any ideas why?

I've recently just got started using sub queries. The sub query that I'm running is supposed to select distinct values out of a table. It doesn't seem to be working though.
SELECT id FROM data WHERE (issueID IN (SELECT DISTINCT issueID FROM data))
When I execute this query, it returns a list of id's, but they don't each have a unique issueID. In the data table, issueID can appear more than once (hence, I need to use distinct). However, id is the primary key, and is unique.
In a stored procedure the following code snippet 1 checks against duplicate data being inserted. I've tested it with snippet 2 and it works as expected. However, when the procedure is called from ASP.NET the check seems ineffective. I still get the error msg. The application uses a SqlDataSource with the following parameters.

PS I want to ask a question on the ASP.NET forum .The login/pwd for this forum "get me in" to the .net forum in the sense that when I log in I see a logout link. I don't get an "ask a question" button though. Is there a separate screening for each forum?

I'm trying to run the following SQL against my ntext column, Testtbl.Task I want to replace where the ampersand sign got HTML encoded to "&", and I want to strip it down to only the ampersand sign and deletethe "amp" and the ";".It executes, but I still have the HTML encoding for the ampersand sign if the issue is NOT the first character in the ntext column. If it's the first part of the ntext column, then it works.
I have a problem with a conditional format of the Color property in a matrix report. When the value of the textbox is greater than 0, the color should be Red otherwise it should be Blue. This is implemented via an IIF statement and works perfectly in Preview in Visual Studio 2005.
When the report is deployed, the formatting appears to be ignored and all values are the default value of Black.
Anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, is there a workaround?
Hello, I am currently trying to use the Login control in an ASP.NET website with IIS. The control works fine when I am running the website in debug mode within Visual Studio 2005. However, when I create the Virtual Directory in IIS, and try to log in from there, I get an error message as follows: Cannot open user default database. Login failed. The application is very simple. I created a Login.aspx page with a login control on it, and I have the default.aspx page. I used theASP.NET administration tool to change the authentication mode to AspNetSqlProvider (forms authentication), and to create one user (no roles). I am using the default provider with the aspnetdb.mdf database. I have been working on this for a few days now, and have searched this site but have not found a solution that works for me. VS 2008. I have the following set up. Group1, Group2, Group3 header, Group 3 detail rows..When I set the row visibility (hide based on Group2) on the Detail row, it still shows up when the report is originally rendered.
It should be: Group1 expanded, Group2 collapsed, Group3 header hidden and detail rows hidden It is showing: Group1 expanded, Group2 collapsed, Group3 header hidden, Group3 detail row visible.
I never had this trouble in 2005. Is there something different about row visibility in 2008?
I am try to login using the ASP.NET 2.0 Standard Login Control. When I enter the correct userId/Password and hit the Login button, the page just refreshes, no error is displayed. But if I enter wrong userid/password..it give me an error.
Also I check the Membership.ValidateUser() returns true, that means the user is validated, but still I am able to redirect to ReturnURL.?
Is there something wrong with the Authentication, or Creating a cookie. Can somebody shed some light on this,

Hi There, I have a really strange problem. I am creating a website with an administration back end. We have a seperate sql 2000 server which we are using hold authentication credientials (after having used the aspnet_regsql.exe to setup the appropriate tables. When testing the application on the local machine, everything works fine. The web admin works, I can login, I can retrieve data to display on the rest of the site. Once uploaded to the live environment things change.I can still connect to the sql server i.e. I have information being displayed on the public area of the site which is coming from the sql 2000 db. I can type in the incorrect login details to the admin section of the site and the system will return an error, which is correct as well, however, if I type in the correct login information, the page hangs for awhile and then displays this error: My question is, why is it doing this when it works find on my local box and the DB connection is actually working on other parts of the site? I have a few reports that suddenly stopped printing.
Nothing changed on the report server, and one minute they could print, the other they couldn't
I have one report that is 4 pages in preview and six when it prints. The users press the print control on the web page and the print dialog comes up, they select a printer and the printing messagebox comes up. Then it will print a couple of pages VERY SLOWLY... and eventually will hang at the 3rd page.
IT appears it is just spooling in the printer control viewer...
Other similiar reports that use the same query but a different parameter, work just fine.
I have rebuilt and redployed the report. The problem is happening on both my live and test environments.
I have looked through this forum but not found an answer. I did delete and re-isntall the client print control.
I have turned the client logging on. But no errrors show up anywhere.

I have built a page with the login control using the default sql server express database that is integrated into the application. I have got it working on my development machine and want to post it on the web with a web hosting company. I did not know if they had to have sql server express installed on that machine for my database to work properly or will it work with sql server 2005 installed. Most web hosting companies that I have called say they only support sql server 2005 and not sql server express. I was unsure if the login would work or not. Please help with this issue. I am new at ASP.net and really enjoy it. However, I want to ensure that my site will work on the web as it does on my machine.

I notice when I copy an SSIS package 'A' to a new package 'B', the new package 'B' will generate a "login failed for user" message in the data flow components. To copy I "save copy of Package 'A' as."
Some config info:
Package ProtectionLevel = EncryptSensitiveWithPassword Connections are Data Sources Connection strings with password are stored using PackageConfigurations to an SQLServer table. I've verified Package 'A' is in fact using the config table (e.g. it is not using a password or user stored in the package) Data connectios are all SQLServer Native OLE DB Client The account is an SQLServer account (not integrated security)
The original Package 'A' works flawlessly and I get success when I test the connections in Package 'B'.
But executing package 'B' I get: The error message I get is: [Connection manager "MyConnection"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'dwuser'.".
Does anyone know why this would occur and/or how to work around it? I saw another thread where a potential workaround is to create a new data flow task and copy all the data flow components to that task. That won't work well for us because the data flow is moderately complex and when you copy and paste it, SSIS completely re-orders the layout.

Been looking through the forums for a solution to this problem.I already tried granting access through statements such as:exec sp_grantloginaccess N1'machineNameASPNET'But they don't seem to work.. i vaguely remember seeing somewhere a DOS command line statement that grants access to the ASPNET_WP and that fixed my problem before on another computer.. but this is a new computer and i forgot to write down the command.Can anyone help explain and propose a solution to my problem. UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?
hi, so i have a new box and I'm trying to get my websites and SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition working on it, but the pages give me the following error when I try to load them: "Cannot Open Database "XXXX" requested by login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'xxx'" Everything seems exactly the same settings and user-wise from my old box to my new one, but nevertheless everything I've tried gives me the same error. I've tried creating new users in SQL Server and giving them appropriate permissions to my database. I've even tried just using the built in 'sa' account. Nothing seems to change the error, except when I give it the incorrect password then it just says 'login failed' This leads me to believe that i'm successfully logging into the SQL Server, but it doesn't want to give me access to the database I'm requesting access too. But "apparently" the account i'm using should have access to the database. If nothing else the 'sa' account should, but that didn't work either. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
I had a view in which I did something like this isnull(fld,val) as 'alias'
when I assign a value to this in the client (vb 6.0) it works ok in sql2000 but fails in 2005. When I change the query to fld as 'alias' then it works ok in sql 2005 . why ?? I still have sql 2000 (8.0) compatability.
Also some queries which are pretty badly written run on sql 2000 but dont run at all in sql 2005 ???
any clues or answers ?? it is some configuration issue ?
I'm trying to use the bcp utility to transfer data from an SQL Server table (CUSTOMERS) to a text file (test.txt).

only I keep getting the error: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 4 Incorrect syntax near '.'.
