Assertion Failed Message Loading SSIS Package In Vb.net
Sep 21, 2007
I have SSIS packages created to import .xls files into sql tables. I now have vb.net code within which I am trying to execute individual packages whenever my code notices the .xls files being deposited within a network folder. When I try to run my code I get the error message:
Assertion Failed:Abort=Quit, Retry=Debug, Ignore=Continue
at STrace.ReadTraceValues()
at STrace..cctor()
at STrace.Trace(String strComponentName, String strLine)
at ManagedHelper.GetNextManagedInfo(DTS_Managed_INFO&nextManagedInfo)
here is my code:
Sub RunPackage(ByVal pkgCMD As String)
'
Dim app As New Application
Dim pkg As New Package
Dim pkgResults As DTSExecResult
'Dim pkgevents As IDTSEvents
'
pkg = app.LoadPackage(pkgCMD, Nothing)
pkgResults = pkg.Execute()
The error occurs during the pkg=app.LoadPackage(pkgCMD, Nothing) statement. Any idea of how I determine why the SSIS package will not load thru my vb app? It runs fine if I load the SSIS package in SSBIDS.
Thanks for any help or guidance.
I have a bundling package that runs about 20 other packages. It has been working fine for a while but a couple of days ago it fail with the following message,
Error 0x800706BE while loading package file "D:PackagesToradSales.dtsx". The remote procedure call failed.
I´m running the SSIS packages in an 64-bit environment.

I have a big problem and i'm not able to find any hint on the Network.
I have a window2000 pc, VS2005,II5 and SQLServer 2005(dev edition)
I created an SSIS Package (query to DB and the result is loaded into an Excel file) that works fine.
I imported the dtsx file inside my "Stored Packages".
I would like to load and run the package programmatically on a Remote Scenario using the web services.
I created a solution with web service and web page that invoke the web service.
When my code execute: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, ".", Nothing)
I got the Error: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
The error message doesn't help so much and there is nothing on the www to give me and advice....
I get an error when trying to open an SSIS package from TFS using Visual studio 2014..
This is the error:
error loading package failed to decrypt protected xml node DTS:Password Key not valid for use in specified state you may not be authorized to view this information
This package has been developed by a person who left the company. I think he had admin permissions on the servers.
We run 2012 enterprise. When I open my project on a different machine than the one I used to create the project, I get the following warnings. I'm concerned about 1) checking in source from different machines, 2) what is going to happen when we run this in production. All of the project params are sensitive=false and required = true. The master package stageprototype.dtproj has no pkg params and no configs.Â
The project's protection level is encryptsensitivewith user key but as far as i know there is nothing sensitive in this collection of master and sub packages. I'm concerened that id I change this to dont save sensitive, I'll be looking for a needle in a haystack, specifically the thing or things ssis thinks are sensitive right now.
Warning 1 Warning loading StagePrototype.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node. Verify that the project was created by the same user. Project load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information.

You may not be the user who encrypted this project, or you are not using the same machine that was used to save the project. I have problem with SSIS. When I open my packages, I always get an error message which says like this: There were errors while the package was being loaded. The package might be corrupted. See the Error List for details.
And, in error list, I get this error message: Error loading DIM_BUSINESS_TYPES.dtsx: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'user'.".
But the package itself seems doesnt have any errors at all. When I try to run the package, it runs fine. Btw, I use package configuration which is stored in sql server table, including the password for connectionstring.
I notice when I copy an SSIS package 'A' to a new package 'B', the new package 'B' will generate a "login failed for user" message in the data flow components. To copy I "save copy of Package 'A' as."
Some config info:
Package ProtectionLevel = EncryptSensitiveWithPassword Connections are Data Sources Connection strings with password are stored using PackageConfigurations to an SQLServer table. I've verified Package 'A' is in fact using the config table (e.g. it is not using a password or user stored in the package) Data connectios are all SQLServer Native OLE DB Client The account is an SQLServer account (not integrated security)
The original Package 'A' works flawlessly and I get success when I test the connections in Package 'B'.
But executing package 'B' I get: The error message I get is: [Connection manager "MyConnection"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'dwuser'.".
Does anyone know why this would occur and/or how to work around it? I saw another thread where a potential workaround is to create a new data flow task and copy all the data flow components to that task. That won't work well for us because the data flow is moderately complex and when you copy and paste it, SSIS completely re-orders the layout.
This is a typical data warehouse ETL setup where there is a master package that executes child packages (e.g. 'A', and 'B' mentioned above) that each perform the ETL for a specific dimension or fact table.
I am trying to restore sql 2000 database backup on sql 2005. I get below error.
SQL Server Assertion: File: <mdupgrad.cpp>, line = 3342 Failed Assertion = 'f' No object for Index!. This error may be timing-related. If the error persists after rerunning the statement, use DBCC CHECKDB to check the database for structural integrity, or

I feel this could be due to upgrade from sql 2000 to sql 2005. I could restore other 2000 databases successfully to 2005. However only this particular database is throwing this error.
Hey all -We are running SQL 2000 with ALL available service packs, etc.applied. We just built a brand new database server, which has dual2Ghz XEONs, 2GB memory, and the following disk configuration:RAID 1 array (2 disks) Operating System Windows Server 2003RAID 1 array (2 disks) Database LogsRAID 10 array (4 disks) Database DataDisks are SATA, with a 3Ware hardware RAID controller. The machineSCREAMS.We run 5 databases on this machine. 2 of these are fairly large (byour standards, anyway). The second largest database (and the busiestand most important) is consistently generating consistency errors thatbring many important queries down. These are almost ALWAYS in theform of index corruption on one single table. The corruption does notnormally occur on other tables, although it DOES happen once in awhile - rarely - on one of the other tables), nor does it EVER occuron any other databases on the server.The corruption seems to happen right in the neighborhood of midnightALMOST every day, give or take a few minutes, but does not seemdirectly associated with any of our MANY scheduled database cleanuptasks (believe me, we've tried desperately to find an associationusing SQL profiler). At midnight, our database traffic is fairly low,so it does not seem associated with a high traffic level.We are using the FULL recovery model, with log backups every 15minutes, and full backups daily at 12:15am. However, the corruptionhappens consistently BEFORE 12:15, like between 11:50pm and 12:10am.The most frustrating thing is, the database can go WEEKS without anycorruption at all, and then it'll go 4 or 5 days in a row with thisstrange corruption stuff.************************************************** ***********************Typical query errors when the corruption exists include:************************************************** ***********************SQL Server Assertion: File:<p:sqltdbmsstorengdrsinclude ecord.inl>, line=1447Failed Assertion = 'm_SizeRec > 0 && m_SizeRec <= MAXDATAROW'.SQL Server Assertion: File: <recbase.cpp>, line=1378Failed Assertion = 'm_offBeginVar < m_SizeRec'.Server: Msg 3624, Level 20, State 1, Line 7Location: recbase.cpp:1374Expression: m_nVars > 0Connection Broken************************************************** ***********************Most of the responses to this type of issue (failed assertions) on thenewgroups appear to point to hardware failures. However, this isbrand new hardware, AND, it seems to us that if this was a hardwareissue, other databases, tables, and indexes would be affectedrandomly. Isn't that a valid assumption (that if it was hardware,particularly the RAID controller, the corruption would not be in sucha predictable place)? What if we moved the physical database files toanother location on the disk? Would/could that help?If anyone could offer some suggestions as to what may be causing thiscorruption, we would be eternally grateful. It is getting to be areal pain in the A*** to run DBCC CHECKDB with REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSSevery day or two (it always seems to solve the problem without dataloss, but still...).Again, thanks in advance for your response.Sincerely,Morgan LeppinkJoin Bytes!

The reportserver also generates SQLDumper log file and a crash dump file
The report executes fine sometime and sometime gives the error mentioned above. The reportserver at some point in time stopped doing anything. I tried to delete those reports created I couldn€™t delete one report. When I try to delete it takes a long time and says request timeout error.
Then I opened the web.config file of reportserver and report manager and just saved it so that the application reloads. And then it worked fine for few moments. I was also able to delete that report which was not getting deleted before. But after some time I again get the assertion failed error.
I have the same reports deployed in another server where they are working fine. The database is SQL Server 2005 with SP2 How do it solve this problem
I have an SSIS package with around 25 lookups. Developing the package itself was slow. Now, everytime I try to load the package it takes forever and whenever I execute it I get an error.
Here are my questions:
1. Is there a way I can optimize the package? 2. Is it abnormal to have so many lookups? I am loading a dimension table with many fields and I need to look up on 25 tables to get the keys. I know one alternative is to use left joins in the source query and get the keys in the Source itself but we can have more visibility of what's happenning with Lookups. I would like to know other possibilities with lookups.
When I try to load an SSIS package via C# code I get the following error message:-
"The package failed to load due to error 0xC0010014 "One or more error occurred. There should be more specific errors preceding this one that explains the details of the errors. This message is used as a return value from functions that encounter errors.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails. "
The code is pretty straightforward:-
Application app = new Application();
PackageEvents evts = new PackageEvents();
Package pkg = new Package();
Package pkg = app.LoadPackage("C:\Documents and Settings\dominic_s\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\SSIS_Util\bin\Debug\DTS\Cleanup_Staging.dtsx",evts,true);
return pkg;
What's interesting is this error message only appear's when I Start Debugging (F5 in VS 2005). If I Start without Debuggging (CTRL+F5) I dont get this error message. I've tried almost everthing suggested by other posts in this forum related to the same issue but nothing seems to work.
I am having an interesting SSIS problem where the package fails to load with the following error message:
Code: 0xC0010018 Source: {BE86A659-AB44-403A-9C89-3524821879E0} Description: Error loading value "" DTS:Name="SqlStatementSource">"Select dbo.fnGetLastOpenExtract('" + @[User::in_ExtractName] + "') as eh_ID"" from node "DTS: PropertyExpression".
This very same package runs on our test server, but fails to even load on UAT server.
SSIS packages are the same on both Test and UAT servers (I compared not just dates and sizes - they are literally the same: byte-to-byte) DTExec version is 9.00.3042.00 on both servers. HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSSetupVersion = 9.2.3042.00 on both machines.
This started to happen when the UAT machine was upgraded to Service Pack 2 of SQL Server 2005. Please note that the UAT server only runs SSIS packages and does not have SQL 2005 database engine installed. There is, however, an older installation of SQL Server 2000 on UAT machine (I am not sure if Test machine has it - will check tomorrow).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

I have a SSIS package running well in production however sometimes the package will fail when the excel file contains more than 25000+ rows.
The SSIS package is run by SQL Server Agent and is set to run in 32bit mode.
I checked the data by loading in batches and all data loaded successfully. But the funny thing is when I run the same package on my local development PC using BIDS and the same data file. The package loads all 25000+ rows successfully.
Is there some setting that is preventing all rows loading in the server environment.
I am trying to run eight SSIS packs from within Integration Services > Stored Packages > File System and seem to get an error like the following on all of them:
"Failed to acquire connection "MyConnection". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
I can run the packages without error from within VS and from within that location in Integration Services on the machine containing the the databases, but when I attempt to run them remotely I get that error. I am attempting this with full admin access on both machines, but the purpose behind these packages is for our developers to run them on individual databases whenever they need to. So I'm concerned that I may run into further access errors after this, but so far I can't find a reason why this connection would fail. Any ideas?
If I can supply more information please let me know. Thanks in advance for any information!
On our datawarehouse server we are regularly having a 1203 error, causing the sql-server to hang. We get this message in the errorlog: Failed Assertion = 'm_activeSdesList.Head () == NULL'. In the knowledgebase I found a bug description that is very lookalike to our problem.
Article: Q240853 FIX: Lock Escalation With Parallel Query May Cause 1203 Error And Server Shutdown
*** part of the article *** SYMPTOMS If a lock escalation occurs while running a parallel query, it is possible to encounter error message 1203 as follows:
spid7 Process 7 unlocking unowned resource: KEY: 13:117575457:2 (35010560ebcd) spid7 Process 7 unlocking unowned resource: KEY: 13:117575457:2 (35010560ebcd) spid7 Error: 1203, Severity: 20, State: 1 spid7 Process ID 7 attempting to unlock unowned resource KEY: 13:117575457:2 (35010560ebcd). spid7 Error: 1203, Severity: 20, State: 1 spid7 Process ID 7 attempting to unlock unowned resource KEY: 13:117575457:2 (35010560ebcd).
The error message included in the error log probably mentions the same lock resource in several of the error messages.
Once the error is printed, an assertion message similar to the following is also printed: 1999-08-09 13:15:26.79 kernel SQL Server Assertion: File: <proc.c>, line=1866 Failed Assertion = 'm_activeSdesList.Head () == NULL'. After a dump of the stack for all threads, the server initiates a shutdown of the SQL Server process. ... *** end ***
You can find the complete article on: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q240/8/53.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0
We can't use the workaround, because that would shut out parallelism, which is necessary for the project.
There is a fix, but in the article Microsoft says: "A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.". You understan,d this is not one of my favorite type of fixes...
Does anyone have already installed the fix mentioned? Had any problems with it, or did it cause some other troubles?
Thx, Kurt De Cauwsemaecker Database Administrator Telepolis Antwerpen

We are using SSIS to load some 100k records from flat file to Oracle Destination. We are using Oracle 10g client. But during the execution after some 5hrs or 6hr with 900k records upload we are getting the message Package execution completed. In the Execution results there is no message related to success or failure and the tasks in the Data Flow where yellow in color. What might be the problem? Any information regarding this case will be helpful for us.

I have an asp.net web application and a web service (both of them are created in VS 2005 - asp.net 2.0). They are located on the same web server. In both web.config files, I have set <authentication mode="Windows"/> and <identity impersonate="true"/>. Also, configured the IIS settings to use Integrated Windows Authentication and unchecked the Anonymous access (for both). The web service is called from the web app, so I have to pass credentials for authentication to the web service. The web service loads and executes a SSIS package. The package and all the other sql objects are located in the sql server 2005 (windows server 2003 - the same server as the web server).
When run the web service from develop environment (vs. 2005), I get whatever I expected. When call it from web application, however, the package failed (no error message).
In the SSIS package, there are three connection managers €“ · A: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0 à connectionType=OleDbConnection · B: .Net Providers SqlClient Data Provider à connection type=SqlConnection · C: Native OLE DB Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server à connectionType=OLEDB
After ran the web application and check the sql database, I can tell that the package was reached and when through the first two steps (clear some records in table_1 and extract some records from table_2 ) which relate to the connection manager B €“ ADO.Net connection. The remaining steps failed which are related to the connection managers A & C.
From SSIS package log file, found that the user credentials (domain and username) were correctly passed from web service to sql server 2005 at the first two events, but the credentials (or operator) changed from domainABCuser123 to NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE after packageStart. Then, it complains €¦ either the user, domainABCserverName$, does not have access to the database, or the database does not exist.
I think the credentials are passed ok but some setting related to the Analysis services are not correct - complaining start from there. Any clues?
I have a dts package migrated from sql server 2000 to sql server 2005 clustered server using migration wizard without any problem.
I have created a new job on sql server 2005 and one of the steps involves executing the SSIS package. It keeps failing with the error message "package execution failed". I have logged in here as a domain administrator (as also a local administrator).
The attached image below shows the steps and its set up to fail if not successful.However there was a metadata validation issue in step one (underlying database field had changed), yet the job kept emailing stating it was successful.It appears to have just carried on with the other steps despite step one failing.
I created a SSIS package using VS2005 with the "ProtectionLevel" set to "DontSaveSensitive" . I executed the package and it completed without an error. I then built the package and deployed it to the SSIS inside the folder "MSDB". I run the pakage in SSIS and it worked perfectly. Then I created a job in SQL Server Agent and have it run in a per-set schedule. It failed to run withthe following error:
Message Executed as user: SRVSOUDB01SYSTEM. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.3042.00 for 64-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. The error mentioned the step in SSIS Package that requires to copy the backup of the OLAP database file "AS_STDM.abf" from the Source Server location (local processing server SRVSPOYDB01) to the Targer Server location (remote production server SVMPPODB01) "Svmppodb01OLAP DataSql DataBackUpAS_STDM.abf". This step worked in the SSIS(SRVSOUDB01) when executing there. Why it is not working in Sql Server Agent(SRVSOUDB01). It also works in VS 2005.
I have a SSIS package which run well when stand-alone. However it was failed when executed from .NET web application. It just simply return Failure. Code snip below:
Dim packagekgResults As DTSExecResult ......... packagekgResults = package.Execute()
I want to use Transaction(MS DTC) in SSIS package across domain. It's working fine if both the servers are in Corpnet microsoft domain but failing it one of the server at extranet microsoft domain. I did all the required settings for MS DTC service to run for distrubuted transaction and in SSIS package did the "TransactionOption" property for the container object to "Required" and for all inner tasks to "Supported". Is it possible or a Security voilation which won't allow to do through SSIS package.
Example: I have a database on Extranet server and a database at Corpnet Server.
Sql Job will pull the data from Extranet Database to Corpnet database through SSIS package and update back to Extranet database. Job will reside on Corpnet server.
SSIS package is failing with the error message: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<Connection Manager name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
Any special setting do we require for this. I did the following setting on both the servers:
Ø MS DTC should run on both the servers under €œNetwork Service€? Ø Set the following on both the servers(ExtranetCoptnet) to run on a Distributed Transaction: § Go to "Administrative Tools > Component Services" § On the left navigation tree, go to "Component Services > Computers § €œMy Computer" (you may need to double click and wait as some nodes need time to expand) § Right click on "My Computer", select "Properties" § Select "MSDTC" tab § Click "Security Configuration" § Make sure you check "Network DTC Access", "Allow Remote Client", "Allow Inbound/Outbound", "Enable TIP" § The service will restart
Note: If I will chage the Extranet server to Corpnet then it's working file for me.
