I have a report with two parameters (@StartDate and @EndDate) to enable users to specify values to customize the data in the report. These two parameters are created within the Dataset. The parameter visibility is set to visible.Opening the report directly works as expected (the user is able to input the date parameters as he wishes and then sees only the data of the specified time period, see image1).Now I want to use this report as a subreport (beeing opened from my main report): But when I open the report within the main report (via action go to report) the parameters are not shown anymore, see image2.Why are the parameters not shown anymore?
-- I'm working with Reporting Services in SharePoint mode using Sql Server 2012, SharePoint 2013.
I have a rdl where its working fine while report preview, for parameter it shows <Select a value> only first select . for next select its just showing dropdown list of values .
How can i get <select a value> for all selections. I referred few links which says only for first select you will get <select a value> ,from second select it just shows dropdown.
If we want <select a value> again then we should go back design part and then preview again. But I don't want. What is the possible way to see <select a value> for every select without going back to design.
After deleting all the test data from all tables in a SQL 2000 database, is there a way to reset all the auto-incrementing fields back to zero in one shot? In Access, you can run the Compact and Repair option. Also, in Sybase SQL, there was an "unload/reload" option to reduce the database size. Is there a similar function in SQL2000? Thanks for all the help
I have a problem with getting a dropdown list to change a txt field every time I select a new value on it.
I have a parameter called "Type" that is selected from a non-queried drop down list. This contains values like "Month" "Day" "Quarter" "Week", etc. I have a query that takes those parameters and then returns a "TimeInterval" for each one. I want this value to appear in a text box (Which is a MaxDate parameter for an entirely separate query) whenever the user selects a value from type. However there is a catch, the user needs to be able to also change the value of the textbox so that he/she can customize that end date for report rather than the values that I have pre-canned for them. This is a bit confusing so I'll try to give an example. The wants to run a report and selects "Week" from the drop down list, this value is passed one of my datasets and that data set returns the value 07/15/2007. That value will then populate in the MaxDate parameter field. The user then changes his/her mind selects "month" from the Type drop down list. What should happen is that the MaxDate field changes to be 07/01/2007 (This is returned correctly in my querry, but I can't get it to show in the maxDate field after the first time.), but instead it still shows 07/15/2007. Here is my SQL code for the dataSet that uses the parameter Type to return a date
IF(@Type= 'Day') BEGIN SELECT dbo.F_START_OF_DAY(getdate()) AS TimeInterval END
IF(@Type='Year') BEGIN SELECT dbo.F_START_OF_YEAR(getdate()) AS TimeInterval END
IF(@Type='Month') BEGIN SELECT dbo.F_START_OF_MONTH(getdate()) AS TimeInterval END
IF(@Type='Quarter') BEGIN SELECT dbo.F_START_OF_QUARTER(getdate()) AS TimeInterval END
ETC....................................
If you need any aditional information or have any questions, I'de be more than happy to answer them. Thanks in advance, /jcarver

i was able to manage to do it, but when i veiw it in the report viewer the problem is its not populating the values for other one which is supposed to be at the same time it says select a value in that combo and report doesn't execute bcoz of this.
any help.
parameter1 choices : office, hometown.
parameter2: will be populated if office is selected
parameter3: will be populated if hometown is selected.
is there a way to disable completely upon selection of the first one.
I am using this function for my datasource; "="data source=" & Parameters!Server.Value & ";initial catalog=" & Parameters!Database.Value"
When I set my database parameter to be a multivalued, it does not work, it will only let me select one db at a time. I would like to grab a table named pm00200 from many databases.
Im trying to create a drop down parameter whereby if i select a certain field, a different dropdown will be filtered off only the relevant selections, is this possible.
I'd like to hide/show a table based on selected parameters. In the current setup I have a matrix and two tables underneath that need to be displayed from time to time. First of I use a multi-value parameter called "Lieferart". Depending on the parameter I have set the visibility of the two tables with the following expression:
=iif(Parameters!lieferart.Value(0) like "Nagel%", False, True)
This expression doesn't work though, any ideas??? I am also unsure about what I have to do If multiple values from the parameter list are selected as Parameters!lieferart.value(0) doesn't necessarily need to have a label like "Nagel" included...
I created a report with a school parameter for all our schools in SQL report. The school parameter gets it's value from a query. The report is generated based on the selection made by the user. If user choose school "A", report is generated for school "A" and if user choose school "B" report is generated for school "B".
I am using a centralized user id and password for all users. A report URL (report link) is sent to user to access the report. Currently, from the school parameter (school drop-down list) users from any school may/can choose report for other schools other than theirs schoos. The content of the report is sensitive and we do not want anyone to see anyone else report.
I want to create a user based security, so based on the user id for school "A", he/she will only be able to see school "A" report but nothing else.
I was trying to accomplish this by creating linked report but it does not look realistic to create a folder for each school on the report server (which means about 180 or more folder for all our schools ). Does anyone else have better suggestions what can/should I do?
I have a report that prompts the user to select a parameter, for simplicity, let's say the parameter is for color choice, options are Red, Yellow, Blue or *. The * is for include all colors. I am passing that parameter back to the dataset query which, again for simplicity is
select Hue from AvailableColors whereColor = @ColorParam.
For a specific color this works fine, for the "*" selection it returns a null. It would seem that I need to convert the * to % but I am not sure how.....
I have a report that I am building that consist of 4 multi-value selections from four different queries. When I choose "Select All" from all the drop downs and click on "View Reports", it blanks out all the selections from one of the drop downs.
Can someone please point me in the right direction on this problem. The report will run sometimes, but most of the time it will not.
I have two parameters on report both will be populated in dropdownlist boxes.
How can i trigger parameter2 based on parameter1 selection.
but when i fill parameter2 i also need to pass the selected value of parameter1's data.
Please i have done this on aspx form using vb.net but don't know here how to do that. haave difficulty in making a search on google, confused to form right words to search.
I would like to print the selection criteria on a separate page or report. I explored various forums and help facilities without luck. Any suggestions please?
I created a re port using the Report builder. The report runs fine. I want to create a parameter on the report. I created a new dataset with the query "select distinct dept from table" . Then i created a new parameter to get the values from the second dataset. After running the reports when i selected 2 departemnts, its still showing all the records.
I would like some help conceptualizing how to acomplish this task. My client has requested the ASP.NET web/SQL Server application send an email to one of our locations based on whether that location complied (via the web app) to each week's report. Here's how the flow would go: The location checks the webpage weekly and selects their compliance to each record on the report. (They could overlook one of the records and not make a selection.) The SQL db would then query the compliance table and create a report of those locations with at least one "non-compliance." Then the Db would send a reminder email to each location on that report. The Db tables have the email address info assigned to each location, so I can join that to the compliance log table. Can this be done? I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express and Visual Web Developer (VB.net). Thank you for your ideas,SMc
Hi. After inserting data (new row) by using DetailsView control, how to read auto incremented primary key (identity) of this new row from sql database to use it as parameter passed to stored procedure?
Can we do the auto hide of parameter window in ssrs as soon as user select the input and click on view report and once the data comes, that parameter window should hide automatically.
Change the icon for a report in the report manager. I want a report to have a folder icon, so it therefore looks like a folder. When a user opens a folder, have a report automatically run and display. Have a report automatically open when the user opens the report manager.
Hello, since a couple of days I'm fighting with RS 2005 and the Stored Procedure.
I have to display the result of a parameterized query and I created a SP that based in the parameter does something:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON CREATE PROCEDURE [schema].[spCreateReportTest] @Name nvarchar(20)= ''
AS BEGIN
declare @slqSelectQuery nvarchar(MAX);
SET NOCOUNT ON set @slqSelectQuery = N'SELECT field1,field2,field3 from table' if (@Name <> '') begin set @slqSelectQuery = @slqSelectQuery + ' where field2=''' + @Name + '''' end EXEC sp_executesql @slqSelectQuery end
Inside my business Intelligence Project I created: -the shared data source with the connection String - a data set : CommandType = Stored Procedure Query String = schema.spCreateReportTest When I run the Query by mean of the "!" icon, the parameter is Prompted and based on the value I provide the proper result set is displayed.
Now I move to "Layout" and my undertanding is that I have to create a report Paramater which values is passed to the SP's parameter... So inside"Layout" tab, I added the parameter: Name allow blank value is checked and is non-queried
the problem is that when I move to Preview -> I set the value into the parameter field automatically created but when I click on "View Report" nothing has been generated!!
I had thought that this was possible but I can't seem to figure out the syntax. Essentially I have a report where one of the parameters is populated by a stored procedure.
Right now this is easily accomplished by using "exec <storedprocname>" as the query string for the report parameter. However I am not clear if it is possible to now incorporate User!UserID as parameter to the stored procedure. Is it? Thanks
I have a report parameter called para1 which is a drop-down list and what I want to do is display another report parameter based on the para1 selection.
So for example, para1 contains a, b, c choices. if a user selects b, I would like para2 to display but if the user selects a or c, I don't want the para2 to display.
Hi, I'm specify the size of the interger dataypes in my code behind files; e.g. commad.Parameters.Add("@SomeID", SqlDbType.Int, 4) I know it may seem silly, but I have to ask: Will specifying ths size (i.e. 4) eventually stop the auto-icnrement of the underlying primary key SomeID in the SQL Server 2005 database? What restriction, if any, does this place if the next SomeID value is 10000, which is 5 digits? or 999999, which is 6 digits? Thank you
I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?
Does someone know whether it is better to drop and reload or sp_recompile a stored procedure to get a new, recompiled execution plan? I have another DBA telling me it is better to drop and reload the stored procedure rather than use sp_recompile. I would think that sp_recompile would be the preferred method.
I am doing a master page and i want the page to update itself when a new value comes in. Example, my master page default value has login and register (both are set as linkbutton)
Login | Register
Then in the login page, when the person successfully logged in to his/her account, master page update linkbutton login and register text will change to welcome john and logout.
