Hi,
I am trying to load data to SQL server 2005 table using BCP from Cognos data warehouse tool. This works most of the cases but adhocly fails or delays BCP loading considerably.
Failure is every time with timeout error as below

Has anyone faced similar problems? Please do suggest.
Hi, I am running a stored procedure that collects some records from two tables do some calculations with those records and insert those calculation result in a temp. table. I am calling this stored procedure in my aspx page and then later select all the records from temp table and show it in a table. When I run this application on browser it give me Timeout expired error but whn I execute the stored procedure it runs properly but takes around 3:10 mins to execute in query analyzer. I did some google work and based on that I specified CommandTimeout = 300 for SP and Connection timeout=400 in web.config. But still it didnt worked. Sometimes it runs properly but sometimes its not. Where I am doing mistake? and Wht should i do to resolve this? Plz. help. Thanks in adv. Regards, Yogita
Guys, I am trying to attach a database object to the App_Data directory I got thie error Error: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. This is what I did. I right click the App_Data folder and click Add New Item. Then I click the SQL Database. This is where I got the error. What should I do? Please help
Hi,I get this error from our web application every once in a while. " Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding". I email myself when an error occurs, and once every 2-3 days I get this timeout error emails, like 5-10 emails in a span of few minutes. Then it goes away. I have set the command timeout for 60 secs. It doesn't happen from the same stored procedure, actually I have seen it timeout from really simple 1 or 2 line stored procedures, which shouldn't normally take 1 sec. Its like sql server just shuts down for few minutes. We have some backups and maintenance jobs scheduled, but they run only after midnight. I have checked the application event viewer, there are no warnings or error messages for MSSQLSERVER. Can any one tell me how to check whats going on during that short timespan when timeout error occurs, and what causes it? I don't want to run sql profiler continuously for 2-3 days, I am afraid it will slow down the server more. Thanks.
We have a stored procedure that calculates the floor nr for users at our company campus using their office location. The calculation is done by a function that returns an integer. Unfortunately, not all users enter their information correctly so the function sometimes raises an error. Below is the code of that stored procedure.
UPDATE PERSONS
SET FLOORNR = dbo.FloorNR(OFFICELOCATION)
WHERE OFFICELOCATION IS NOT NULL
IF(@@ERROR <> 0 OR @@ROWCOUNT = 0)
BEGIN
RAISERROR ('Failed to calculate the floor number', 16, 1 ) with nowait
END
However, when the function dbo.FloorNR fails, it doesn't raise our error, but it seems to raise the error that comes from dbo.FloorNR.
How can we catch errors that come from dbo.FloorNr so that we can raise our own error? Our company still uses SQL 2000, so we cannot use the SQL 2005 try/catch option.
I recently joined a company that is having an issue connecting to SQL Server Integration Services on one of their production servers. When trying to connect via management studio, both locally and remotely, they receive the error below. The server is a 64 bit server and is using third party replication (Veritas).
It sort of sounds like the issue described in this knowledge base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919224. However, we do not have a problem creating maintenance plans. I'd just give it a shot but its a production server and getting approval to do anything that modifies the registry with the registry replication setup is a pain, so I'd like to determine if there could be another cause first.

I have a bundling package that runs about 20 other packages. It has been working fine for a while but a couple of days ago it fail with the following message,
Error 0x800706BE while loading package file "D:PackagesToradSales.dtsx". The remote procedure call failed.
I´m running the SSIS packages in an 64-bit environment.
Hi everybody, I do custom log shipping over network like
step 1 backup log to C:.. step 2 zip log file c:... zip step 3 copy zip to \sm01 estorelogs... step 4 unzip file step 5 restore log with stand by
Few times a month it fails with

I've received this error twice over 2 days in the SQL Agent error log during off-hours from a server which has not had any changes to it in the last few months (once at 3:32AM and the next day at 3:46AM. I've been able to tie it to log-shipping backup jobs (all of which run under the SQL Service domain account) which run every minute. It seems to be only momentary, as the next attempt a minute later is successful.
I get the same set of messages for each database for the same time which look like this:
Date 07.03.2008 3:31:51 AM Log SQL Agent (Current - 10.03.2008 6:15:00 PM)

I can't find any documentation on these errors on the web or MSDN site. Can I chalk this up to possibly "winking" connection to our domain controller? We've never had these messages before, and our LAN department swears that there have been no upgrades to the network or domain controller servers recently.
We have several large government web sites that we help look after. We recently migrated one of them from SQL Server 2000 to 2005 and are having a problem with our nightly email job in that if it runs for more than an hour then after exactly 1 hour the email job gets a "Timeout expired" message back from SQL Server.
Our batch jobs do run on a different server and connect remotely to our SQL Server DB. I did change the connections - remote query timeout and increased it 10 fold, but this didn't make any difference. Is there any other parameter that may be causing the Timeout expired error after exactly 1 hour?
When a SQL job has been created to run a local DTS package it failswith the following error message. The job failed. Unable to determine if the owner(DomainNameUserAccount) of job MyJobName has server access (reason:Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'DomainNameUserAccount'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 8198)).The package runs if executed from the DTS Local Packages in EnterpriseManager.I have seen other articles about changing the owner to SA, this wouldnot work as a domain account is required to connect to a network share. How can I get the SQL Job to run as a domain account?
I am getting the following errors when I try to load a db dump from Prod to another db. The first error occurred on the first run and the second error occured on the second run. The db is in the 'loading' status. Any help will be great. Thanks, Glen

I have been getting the error below from an SSIS Package that has been running successfully in production for 2 Months. Also, this started after we installed SP2. We had errors durring the SP2 installation durring the Notification Services and Workstation Tools install but the installation program reported that the installations were successfull so I am not sure if this is related.

I have a pretty complicated report (lots of subreports, tables, etc) that can be well over a few hundred pages long. I can generate the report just fine, but I cannot seem to export it to anything other than an html archive. I need to export to PDF. Every time I try to export it get an error that says:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
I don't get any more information than that. Is there a way that I can figure out what the actual error is, or any other way I can go about troubleshooting this? Thanks.
while doin bulk insert i am gettin the following error
BULK INSERT [dbo].[module] FROM 'c:dataMIL.csv' WITH ( FIELDTERMINATOR = '', ROWTERMINATOR = '' )
Msg 4861, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot bulk load because the file "c:dataMIL.csv" could not be opened. Operating system error code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).
We've just started using SSIS packages, and everything seems to be going ok.
I've recently set up a couple of jobs which just run an SSIS package every 5 minutes to collect data. These run fine 90% of the time, but intermittantly produce an error.
When using a SSIS task in the job it simply reported "Could not load Package."
I have changed these to use DTExec as I heard it gave more verbose execution results, and now I get an error like "Executed as user: NZSQLAdmin. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.1399.06 for 32-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. Source: Microsoft SQL Native Client Started: 8:25:00 a.m. Finished: 8:25:00 a.m. Elapsed: 0.047 seconds. Process Exit Code 5. The step failed."
So far I have not been able to find anyone else with similar errors. Whenever the package executes it seems to run fine, so this seems to be an error just getting the package to execute in the first place, and as I said it only happens internittantly.
The packages talk to a SQL2005 server using windows authentication (which I assume is inherited from the SQLAgent service user), as well as a MySQL server through an ODBC connection. The package is saved in the MSDB SSIS Package Store and uses the "Rely on Server for Security" option
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Hello, I have an external DLL (made up of common functions) that is referred to in my report .RDL files. All reports work OK when I generate from within VS2005 (as I have a build script that copies the .DLL into the desired [local] VS2005 folder) however when I deploy to the server I receive the message :-
Error while loading code module:......Details: Could not load file or assembly.......or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
If I copy the DLL manually into ...Reporting ServicesReportServerin folder all works OK however I want to automate the process - is there a way to move this into the desired folder on deployment ?
Please let me know how I can overcome the following Error.

Hi all, I've finished an SSIS Package on my computer and want to move the project into production server. I was just copied the whole files and when I load the package from production server there was an error occured, the description is below :

What's the problem with my Package, I never met this error before with the same behaviour of moving SSIS project from one computer to another. Thanks in advance
Could some one please help me with this problem... After working with the Rational Guide To Scripting SSIS Beta Preview (Donald Farmer), chapter 6 Adv uses of the Script Task.. For some reason I cannot open or create any packages now... Here's a sample of the error message:

I am still looking through archives and on the web, but have not seen anything specific to my issue yet...and cannot believe that I am the first to BULK INSERT this kind of data.
We recently migrated our production environment from a win2k3/SQL 2000 EE cluster to a new 64 bit win2k3/ SQL 2005 SP1 Cluster.
Cluster works fine for a while (3-6 hours), then our logins start failing. We recieve the following error in the event log:
"The server was unable to load the SSL provider library needed to log in; the connection has been closed. SSL is used to encrypt either the login sequence or all communications, depending on how the administrator has configured the server. See Books Online for information on this error message"
The only way to resume connectivity is to offline and online the sql service in the cluster.
The only reference to this error that I can find has something to do with a hotfix that might be available?
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)
I'm receiving the error, "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'tri_actfile.txt'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly."
How do I call a table name in sql after the -Q?

I have already googled for this error and appied whatever tips were given.
I had encountered an error on SSIS its not allowing me to create any new packages. Below is the error message. Please do help be out. This problem had occurred on my server machine

I have problem with SSIS. When I open my packages, I always get an error message which says like this: There were errors while the package was being loaded. The package might be corrupted. See the Error List for details.
And, in error list, I get this error message: Error loading DIM_BUSINESS_TYPES.dtsx: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'user'.".
But the package itself seems doesnt have any errors at all. When I try to run the package, it runs fine. Btw, I use package configuration which is stored in sql server table, including the password for connectionstring.
Help please. I have a custom assembly that was written in vb.net 2003 which is working great on RS2000 and also on RS2005 on my development machine. To get it to work on RS2005 all I had to do was copy it into the ...MSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServer folder. The assembly is named prjCheckDate and is simply a function to calculate dates where the user types in a "T-x" string, the x is number of days backwards from today, and returns that actual date.
On the customer's production machine, when I try to upload the report RDL, via Report Manager, I get the following: "Error while loading code module: €˜prjCheckDate, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null€™. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'prjCheckDate, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied. (rsCompilerErrorInClassInstanceDeclaration) Get Online Help There is an error on line 11 of custom code: [BC30451] Name 'prjCheckDate' is not declared. (rsCompilerErrorInCode) Get Online Help "
I have gone to the rssrvpolicy.config file and added a code group as follows: "
<CodeGroup class="UnionCodeGroup" version="1" PermissionSetName="FullTrust" Name="prjCheckDAte.dll" Description="This is custom assembly for T-x date format processing"> <IMembershipCondition class="UrlMembershipCondition" version="1" Url="C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServerinprjCheckDate.dll" /> </CodeGroup>"
This was added immediately after the existing entry for the URL membership "$CodeGen$/*" area per MSDN (ms152828).
I'm still getting the same error. I did not get to reboot the server this is on as it is a production machine and the client is hesitant to allow a reboot since this machine is used to log time and attendance and needs to be available 24x7.
I am trying to load data from one database to another database with in same sql server. Our DBA has created a new db and I am trying to load data in to this new one.But I am getting error in SSIS packages while scheduled as job. The failed job history was not showing much information So I ran the package dirently to get more info on error message.
I was able to transfer around 5 to 6 tables . But I am unable to transfer the final 2 tables. I am thinking its a space issue. Appreciate if somebidy can explain what the real problem is ?
Below is the error information I got in SSIS

I'm running SQL Server 7.0 SP3 and having trouble with DTS.
I have an Execute SQL Task that runs several stored procedures. When one of the stored procedures fails, the Execute SQL Task just terminates without failing.
I found a knowledge base article (Q238523) dealing with this situation but it was supposedly fixed in SP2 - I have SP3! The other work around suggested, issuing a SET NOCOUNT ON, does not always work.
Has anyone else run into this or have any other suggestions.
I hate the thought of spending days doing another work around in order get basic DTS functionalty to work as it should!
