BIDS Error For Data Task

Does anybody know what this means? I have a SQL source (OLEDB) going to a script transformation as a destination:[DTS.Pipeline] Warning: Component "Add Schemas" (32) has been removed from the Data Flow task because its output is not used and its inputs have no side effects. If the component is required, then the HasSideEffects property on at least one of its inputs should be set to true, or its output should be connected to something.Add Schemas is the script transformation destination. I can't find a HasSideEffects property, and have no idea why this would be a problem.

In BIDS I Had created a package to receive FTP files from remote.
I had created a FTP Connection and FileConnection (As Existing folder) to receive files.
I had Changed my ProtectionLevel to Don'tSaveSensitive (Since i had my Auth details in SQL Server tables)
In the Package Configurations i have created the Configuration details and stored in my conf table.
Now, When i was executing my package, I got this error
[FTP Task] Error: File usage type of connection "FTPReceiveTest" should be "FolderExists" for operation "Receive".
Already the connection Type was set as 'Existing Folder' only.
Any ideas of where i was missed ?

Hi,
I am trying to create a simple BI Application for SSIS. In Visual Studio 2005 I just get a Data Flow Task from the toolbar and add it to the project. When I double click it I get the following error:
The task with the name "Data Flow Task" and the creation name "DTS.Pipeline.1" is not registered for use on this computer.
Then when I try to delete it it gives this other error:
Cannot remove the specified item because it was not found in the specified Collection.
I am creating this application in an administrator account in this computer, so I doubt the problem is related to permissions. I am running SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in WinXP Tablet PC Edition.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how to fix it?

Hi,
I'm trying to get a record count out of a databse using OLE DB Source and row count tasks but keep getting an error. I set up a variable as int32 and select the variable name in the row count task and when I go to the Input Columns tab to select a field to count, it gives me this error:
Error at Data Flow Task[Row Count[505]]: The component "Row Count" (505) has forbidden the requested use of the input column with lineage ID 32.
I don't even know what this means?

Hi I have completed my first SSIS master package which runs a whole lot of child packages depending on value of expressions on workflow. (refer http://www.sqlis.com/306-3.aspx)
Each of my child packages is .dtsx file location and each Excute Package task uses the file connection.
The master parent package is also a dtsx file location which will be run by a SQL Server 2005 Agent
All good--problem is testing from BIDs--each time a Excecute package task is run--turns yellow a new tab appears apears in the design window --showing you that particular .dtsx file control flow detail. DTS never had this behaviour --can I turn this off in the BIDS ie as I have dozens of new tabs at run time which makes it very hard to keep track of the master package. All I want is the master package running from BIDs, and no new tabs appearing at run time???

Hi All,
I want to export data from SQL Server2005 to an Excel spreadsheet thru "Data Flow Task". I am using OLE DB for SQL Server for the source connection and a Connection To Excel as my destination source. The Excel spreadsheet (2003) exists and has the first row with column names. I don't have any warnings before trying to execute.
The SQL datable fileds are
i) ID - Int
ii) RefID
iii) txtRemarks - nvarchar(MAX)
iv) ddlWaterLevel - nvarchar(50)
While executing the tasks, I got the error
Error: 0xC0202025 at Data Flow Task, Excel Destination [427]: Cannot create an OLE DB accessor. Verify that the column metadata is valid.
Error: 0xC004701A at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: component "Excel Destination" (427) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202025.
After analysing I found in the DataFlow --> Excel destination --> Advanced Editor for Excel Destination, the default data type for txtRemarks shows as "Unicode string [DT_WSTR]". But this is supposed to be "Unicode text stream [DT_NTEXT]". Even if I change the data type in the design time, It doesn't accept.
Please do help me out.

For some unknown reason, I'm suddenly experiencing the following error when I open a package in BIDS:
Error 1 Error loading DimPromotionDemo.dtsx: The connection "" is not found. This error is thrown by Connections collection when the specific connection element is not found. c:mdwt_projectsaworders_simpleaworders_simpleaworders_simpleDimPromotionDemo.dtsx 1 1
I don't see any error icons anywhere in my package. How do I go about figuring out what's wrong?

We are using SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition SP2. I have a fixed-length flat file import spec created in SQL Server Mgmt Studio using the Import wizard. I then created an Integration Sevices project in BIDS and added the existing SQL Server package created with the wizard to the project. When I try to edit the package with the SSIS designer, it does not appear to handle the package properly. That is, only some of the fields are selected (and when I select all the available fields, still only some show up in the detail pane of the Input Columns tab), the data types are incorrect, and the starting location (it's a fixed length file, remember) for each field (LineageID?) is incorrect. My understanding is that, with Workgroup Edition, there are only two ways, other than say programmatically from a VB program, to run the package: (1) by creating a SQL Agent job or from a BIDS project. I have seen a Cumulative Update package (#2) for SP2 that mentions some problems in BIDS' handling of SSIS pkgs, but the symptoms are in no way similar to this. Can anyone tell me what is going on here?? Thanks.

Error at Data Flow Task [Destination] Coloums "blar" and "Blar_name" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode sting types.

Hi,
I have SQL Server 2005 Express edition on my machine. On an SSIS project in BIDS, when i drag a "Data Flow Task" to the package it returns the following error:
The designer could not be initialized. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Design)
Does this has anything to do with the fact that i don't have SSIS installed on my machine?
I thought that SSIS was only needed (on my machine) for the runtime, just to run the packages. To create and edit the pachages i need to install SSIS on my machine too? this doesn't makes sense, maybe it's another problem.
Can anyone help me on this?

I am having problems with the Data Flow task. It does not even show up in the list of items to drop into the SSIS project.
If I go to the Data Flow tab and hit create, I get the follow error. I have tried repairing and reinstalling, but nothing seems to clear up the error. Without rebuilding my machine, is there anyone who knows how to get the Data Flow Task reinstalled properly?

I have a very big problem with a data conversion task. I have an input data source where some of the columns are optional (in terms of data). If any row does not contain a value, then it fails the data conversion task with error code -1071607681. (Could not convert due to potential data loss.) Why is the data conversion task incapable of handling empty values coming through?

I have developed a simple SSIS Package that will export data from an AS400 iSeries server to a flat file. When I try to debug the package I receive this error. I have tried to change the security level of the package to EncryptAllWithPassword and specified a password. For some reason the password for the connection to the AS400 is not being retained. when I enter the password the following error disappears when I try to debug the package the error returns.
Does anyone know how to correct this? Thanks in advance for your help.
Things to also know:
I am using a Native OLE DBIBM AS400 OLE DB Provider w/user name and password (Allow saving password checked) Test Connection succeeded.
I am using a OLE DB Source to extract the data with Data Access Mode of Table or View. When I try to select a table I am prompted from the AS400 to enter password. Then I can see the tables.
I can select the columns I need and click OK to save.
Error 1 Validation error. Data Flow Task: OLE DB Source [39]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "SERVERNAME.USERNAME" failed with error code 0xC0202009. I have a Windows XP PC that we are trying to install SQL Tools on. When I install I get an error message that says 'cannot find one or more components'. When I finish the install, everything works except Buisiness Intelligence Development Studio, which is the product we will use the most. We do not have Visual Studio.Net or any of those product on this PC.
We have tried uninstalling and reintalling. We have tried both the Enterprise and Development CDs to get the tools installed. Both give us this error.
Any ideas?

I am trying to transfer data from one table to the other using a Data Flow Task of SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
I am using an OLE DB Source and an OLE DB Destination.
Source Table TABLE1
Column Datatype
ID - Int ,not null
EmployeeName - nvarchar(50), null
Destination Table TABLE2
Column Datatype
ID - Int ,not null
EmployeeName - nvarchar(50), not null
There are 10 rows in TABLE1 of which 2 have null value in EmployeeName column.
If I try to populate all TABLE1 row values into TABLE2 the data flow will fail as TABLE2.EmployeeName will not accept null value.
So I have inserted a FlatFileDestination into the DataFlow and the OLE DB Destination ErrorOutput is set as input to the FlatFile. In the OLE DB Destination Editor the ErrorOutput€™s error property is set to Redirect Row.
When I do this the 8 correct data from TABLE1 will be inserted into TABLE2 and the two rows with null value will be inserted into the FlatFile.
My requirement is this:
I don€™t want any data to be inserted into TABLE2 but I want the two erroneous records to be written into the FlatFile.
Please suggest.

I am trying to execute a Data Flow Task. There is only one task in the data flow task so far, and that is a Flat File Source task. I also set up a Connection Manager for the file, myfile.txt.
When I try to run the Data Flow Task, I get these errors:
The first problem seems to be with the connection, on the first line. What connection element is missing here? The others seem to be truncation errors. I don't know why that is. I changed the column sizes to match the sizes of database columns. They ARE surrounded by double-quotes, but I have {"} specified as a Text Qualifier in my Connection Manager.
Please, need help!

When I add a Data Flow Task to a package, save it and then close. When I open it again, I get 3 errors and the detail of the Data Flow Task is empty.
I had try to uninstall and install my SQL Server 2005, but the problem continues.
Can some one help me on this?

I am using the Visual Studio for Integration Services. and creating a database.I am trying to download data from a Cube table (SALES_HISTORY), using a Microsoft OLE DB provider for Analsysis services 10.0. in this table, it has visible 2 fields (SALE_TRANSACTION_ID) and (TRANSACTION DATE) but have many hidden fields, such CUSTOMER, PART_NUMBER, etc . when I try to create a query in the OLE DB source editor, I can see all the fields, and be able to create the SQL command.
However when I want to preview it or parse the query, I have the following message: 
Exception from HRESULT: 0x0C0202009 error at data flow task [OLE DB Source [1]]: SSIS Error code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. an OLE DB error has occurred. Error Code 0x80004005.
an OLE DB record is available. Source: " Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 2008". Hresult:0x80004005 description: Query (1,15) error from the SQL query module the 'Customer' column cannot be found in the 'SALES_HISTORY' table...how to extract the data from the visible and also hidden fields (in excel, are called properties).

I have a package with numerous data flows in it. (I know - this is not recommended as a best practice.) Anyway, one of the Data Flows just started giving me some trouble. When I opened that particular Data Flow, then BIDS would crash. I tried loading the project again, and opening that Data Flow task, and it just kept crashing. I rebooted - same deal.
The Data Flow was itself very simple. There was an OLE DB Source, and OLE DB Destination, a conditional split, a derived column, a data conversion and a Lookup. Pretty routine stuff. Out of the blue really, and long after I created it - it just starting crashing BIDS when I opened it.
My solution was to copy the Data Flow control flow component and paste it back into the same package. This worked perfectly fine, and didn't see any issues after. So, apparently something in the meta data became corrupt, and caused it to crash.
Anyway, just curious if others have seen this behavior, but also wanted to post this as a solution in case someone else has the same problem.

Hi all, I got this scope:
- SSIS and SQL server are on the same machine
- myPackage run perfectly on debug mode and also via DTSexec choosing from stored package directory
My problem is when try to run the REAL job.
Always got an error.

This is a generic error and don't give me any feedback...one time is on data task A another to diffrent.
SSIS pkg are compose by 34 data task...they insert into SQL server destination a RAW file source.

I have try to run job with different agent (sql agent) and proxy user (same of the log-in sql server machine) where I 'm on.
But always have error.
Now, I'm death point, 'cause PKG run ok into Debug and DTSexec...job is failure and all logs that I write ara vague.
Some data task have big numbr of row like 95000, 625000, 53000....
But I have no one buffer error...anyway I have increase the defaultNumberOfMaxRow on the proprety for "my personal security" but no way out....
Can be a problem of buffer?? A memory problem, maybe I must use anyway DBole destination??

Dear all,
I am trying to executed a packege so that it loads data from from the excel file to the SQL Server Server database.
When I execute it, it prompts the following error message and 1 warning
The excel file has three colums, Week, Item and Value

Hi all
I configured my packages to user package configurations, but when i try to debug a package in BIDS in get the following error in the execution results tab :
[Connection manager "XXXXXXXXXX"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'XXXXXXX'.".
Edit.
Now the degub works but after i deply the package to the sql server the package execution fails and the following is written into sql server errorlog
2008-03-17 15:56:31.71 Logon Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 8.
2008-03-17 15:56:31.71 Logon Login failed for user 'XXXXXXX'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]
The state 8 indicates bad password, but it isnt... because logging into sql server with that user and password works.

Hi, this is my first post and I'm relatively new to SSIS so please go easy on me.
Without going into too much detail about it, I've set up a simple SSIS package which does this in a nutshell:
Foreach loop picks up all *.xls files in a given folder
1 - Puts the name of the current spreadsheet into a variable
2 - File System Task copies the current spreadsheet ("abc.xls") to a file called "work.xls"
3 - Data Flow task performs data extraction on "work.xls" and puts it into a SQL server database
4 - File System Task moves "abc.xls" into a "success" folder
Continues with loop - move onto next spreadsheet
This works fine, so long as the spreadsheets all have the same number of columns.
As soon as one of them has a column missing (believe me, this will happen - we're dealing with users here) the package falls over at step 3.
When the package comes across an erroneous spreadsheet, what I'd like to do is move the offending file to a failure folder (making step 4 either a success or failure file move) and carry on with the next one.
I know that you can have an error path (the red line) from any step within the dataflow task, but this doesn't help me because the error lies in the structure of the spreadsheet and not the contents.
I've already come up with a work around whereby each file is moved into the failures folder just after step 2, then moved from the failures folder into the success folder at step 4.
This almost gives me what I want, although of course the package still falls over whenever it encounters a dodgy looking spreadsheet.
Is there any way that I can get the package to do what I'm after?

I am having a problem getting error rows to redirect between an OLE DB Source and an OLE DB Destination when using transactions. Each time I turn on the transaction control I get an error stating:
"[OLE DB Destination [48]] Error: The input "OLE DB Destination Input" (61) cannot be set to redirect on error using a connection in a transaction."
I get the above Error when using MSDTC. I have the data flow inside of a Sequence Container with the transaction option set to REQUIRED and the Isolation Level set to Serializable. I have tried all the Isolation levels.
I have the error rows piped off to a seperate OLE DB Destination. I have also tried using native SQL transactions with Execute SQL tasks to BEGIN, COMMIT or ROLLBACK the transaction. This does not work either. It looks like it works properly when the data flow is successful but using profiler I can see SSIS opens up a seperate process for the BEGIN and then another one with the Data Flow task. When I intentionally fail the Data Flow the Rollback always fails. I made sure I had RetainSameConnection turned on for the Connection I was using.
I am speculating that the Data Flow does not know what to Rollback the actual rows that succeeded or the error rows that are getting piped off.
I am fairly stumped on this one so any help is appreciated.

I'm learning to use BIDS, and have been going through the exercise in Chapter 19 of the book Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services. I'm probably in over my head with this since I've never used any SQL services/software before, but the company I'm interning at wants to build a workflow using SSIS, and for some reason unbeknownst to me, I volunteered to train myself for the task. I'm at a part in the book exercise where I'm editing one of the components of a Data Flow task - an OLE DB Destination. When I try to select the table/view in the editor for this, it gives me the following error:
€œAn attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Documents and SettingsgroseMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsCase Study ExerciseCase Study ExerciseCase Study.database failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.€?
When I googled this, most people seemed to be getting it through other SQL software, so I'm not sure if the error has the same cause or not. I know that the file in the above error message already exists, but I don't understand why the task editor won't just let me select a database that already exists so I can complete the component. Can anyone explain this to me?

I have an Access 2.0 database that holds call data on a mapped drive. I am running MS SQL Server 2000. I can open it and view the records inside. I can even run the query below and get results, if I removed the CallDate and CallTime parameters.

When I preview in the Transform Data Task, I get:

Error Description: No value given for one or more required parameters.
When I look at the parameters, they are listed. I check their values, and they have the appropriate values (DateCalled, String, 07/14/2005) (StartTime, String, 06:30) (EndTime, String, 07:00)
When I run it in the build query or in Access with a linked table to the source, I can enter the values when asked for them and it works.

Hi,
I developed a custom data flow task in .net 2.0 using Visual Studio 2005. I installed it into GAC using GACUTIL and also copied it into the pipeline directory. This task runs absolutely fine when I run it on my local machine both in BIDS and using the script in windows 2000 environment. However, when I deployed this package into a windows 2003 server, the package fails at the custom task level. I checked the GAC in windowsassembly directory and it is present. Also I copied the file into the PipeLine directory and verified that I copied it into the correct pipeline directory by checking the registry. The version of the assembly is still Debug. I looked up documentation in MSDN but there is very little information about the errors I am seeing.
The error I get is pasted below, Can somebody please help me as I am currently stuck and running out of ideas to fix this problem.

Running eval. edition of Sql Server Standard 2005. "Insufficient product level" error is thrown during validation phase of an OleDBCommand data flow task. This task type is not licensed in Sql Server 2005 standard? The component runs a very simple sql update statement against a one row table in Sql Server 2005.
If it works from BIDS, should it not work from dtexec.exe on the same box?
Does dtexec run under the security context of the logged in user?

Any way to run a package without having VS Data Tools or BIDS installed in the local machine? Scenario: I build a package and I put the package in a folder. I would like that one of my colleague run the package all by himself but I don't want install BIDS or DTT in his machine. Is there any plug in, trick or something else I can do?
