BUG: SSIS Imported Package Errors With 'Guid Should Contain 32 Digits With 4 Dashes'
Apr 10, 2006
I have imported a package using SSIS into the Maintenance Plan folder from another server.
It imports fine, but when i Modify the package then click save I get the following error : 'Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes'.
This has been reported on other forums without resolution.

I have used the wizard to import a DTS package from a SQL 2000 server to our new SQL 2005 server and need to make edits to reference the new server and database. I am able to see the package within the SQL Management studio under Integration Services, but I cannot find it in the Development studio?
What am I missing?
Thanks

Hi All,
I am in the process of moving from a 32-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054) to a 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054 with 4 CPUs and 8GB of memory on Win 2003 SP2) and the process has been very frustrating to say the least. I am having a problem with packages that I created on my 64-bit SQL Server. I am importing a few tables from the 32-SQL Server into the 64-bit SQL Server using the Task --> Import to create the package.
Sometimes when I am creating a package I get the following error in a message box:
SQL Server Import and Export Wizard
The SSIS Runtime object could not be created. Verify that DTS.dll is available and registered. The wizard cannot continue and it will terminate.
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (System.Windows.Forms)
Other times when I run a package that has run successfully before I get the following error:
Faulting application dtexecui.exe, version 9.0.3042.0, stamp 45cd726d, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x025d23f0.
Other times I get this error message:
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (79FFEE24) (80131506)
And still other times
The package appears to hang when running. By this I mean that the Package Execution Progress shows progress up to a point then it just stops. (The package takes about 17 seconds to run normally) CPU usage is at 1% and the package cannot be stopped.
I have deleted and re-created the package several times and I have also re-installed the service pack on the SQL Server (9.0.3054) but that did not help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions to try?
Thanks.

I got an SSIS package
that first "truncate the product table" then populate the table with new rows....if there is an error then i will invoke the send email task. However in the "truncate the product table" task, the sql i put "truncate dbo.product" instead of "truncate table dbo.product" but this error is not captured in the text file that I m going to send an email to the appropriate personnel.
Under logging, and when i go into "truncate product table" tasks , "Details", i saw "OnError", "OnWarning" and other error handlers...which should i tick in order for the text file to ONLY show errors I encounteered during the running of the SSIS package?

Using the "set values" tab, I am trying to set the values of package variables to strings that contain spaces and/or dashes. If I run the package using the integrations services server, it runs perfectly. If I schedule the package on SQL Server agent, I get the following error.
"Executed as user: GBPSQLServer. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.3042.00 for 64-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. Option "-restofstring" is not valid. The command line parameters are invalid. The step failed."
Looking at the command line generated by the SQL Agent interface, the value is quoted using double quotes like this:
/SQL "PackageName" /SERVER SQL1 /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /SET "Package.Variables[LogFolder].Value";"\remoteservernameinetpub he-restofstring
estofstring" /REPORTING E
It seems that the command line parser is not recognising the quotes, or maybe the slashes are throwing it off, or sql server agent is doing something funny to the command line before it executes it.
Anybody got any ideas?

Hi folks,
I have a simple SSIS package I built to migrate data from a SQL db on one server to another SQL db on another server. All it does is: Execute SQL task to disable some triggers on the target table, Data Flow Task to pull the data from the source (a simple sql query) into the destination table (using OLEDB), then another Execute SQL task to re-enable the triggers.
This package ran fine several times during my testing. However, this morning it's not working anymore. When I run it and check its progress, the "Validation has started" is the only thing runs, then nothing else happens... no error messages, no timeouts, nothing in the output window besides "DTS.Pipeline: Validation phase is beginning".
The only thing that has changed is one change to a date in the where clause of my source query, so I'm baffled on why it no longer runs.
I'm pretty new to SSIS, so I could easily be missing something obvious here.
Anyone have any ideas on what's up, or who can point me in the right direction? I'm currently reading up on how to debug and add more comprehensive error handling, in hopes of finding a better description of the problem.
Thanks in advance,
Geoff

Hi All,
I hope someone can help becuase this problem is issue us several headaches.
We are currently trying to deploy an SSIS package to a production server. The deployment goes fine, the package runs ok when executed manually. The issues start when we try and execute it under the SQL agent.
Having gone back to the drawing board and spent much of the day reading various articles and applying the various options (especially those within the MS KB article 918760), we are still no closer to a resolution.
The SSIS package was created under an Administrator, and the SQL agent runs under a different Domain Admin account.
When we set up the Schedule to read from SQL Server or the SSIS Store the standard "Executed as user: DOMAINUSERNAME. The package execution failed. The step failed" in the history.
We tried to create the package as a file access and now get "Package could not be found" even though you can browse to i in the schedule list. The Domain account as full access to the folder where the package resides.
Has anyone else come across this issue, or have a workable solution?
Many TIA.

I get errors when I check out an SSIS package from source control (both Source Safe and TFS) relating to the connection objects where I was not the original developer who checked it in. Is there a solution to this other than altering the connection loginpassword for every connection object in the package before deploying?

I've deployed an ssis package to the database server through the manifest file over the network..
The package runs great when testing through vs.net on my client.
I've added the package to a job step in the sql server job agent.
When I test the new job, the package step fails, but there is no error or log information in the job history.
Wwhere can I get error information? And/or How can make SSIS error information more verbose in the job history?
Thanks for any help or information.

Lately, I have been experimenting with SSIS and I created a generic custom error logging component that saves all offending data on data flow component failure. However...
Instead of re-directing rows at the data flow level and handling/logging the data at that level, is it possible to catch all of this information at the package level and handle/process it there?
If so how would you do this?
Thanks!

Hi
I have created a package which executes every 10 mins. Last week end for maintenance purpose, I shutdown my database. Now as an initial execution process, my package does the default validation steps on which the database connection validation step fails. As this is the default functionality of SSIS I am not able to capture this error. Is there anyway to capture this error inside SSIS Package?
Thanks in advance.

I have a data flow task in which I have a ADO NET source and OLE DB Destination. I have in the ADO NET source a sql command which pulls all the columns in a table. My requirement is to ignore a particular column, say column99. I opened advanced editor and deleted the mapping between the external and output columns for column99. I had also set the Error and Truncation to "Ignore Failure" for column99. I had also mapped the destination column to <Ignore> in OLD DB destination.
But this still throws the error-
Description: The ADO NET Source was unable to process the data. Field table-column99 missing an escape character for a quote.Unable to update PK WHERE clause.Error processing data batch.
How do I solve this?

I have a parent package that calls child packages inside a For Each container. When I debug/run the parent package (from VS), I get the following error message: Warning: The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (3) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors.
It appears to be failing while executing the child package. However, the logs (via the "progress" tab) for both the parent package and the child package show no errors other than the one listed above (and that shows in the parent package log). The child package appears to validate completely without error (all components are green and no error messages in the log). I turned on SSIS logging to a text file and see nothing in there either.
If I bump up the MaximumErrorCount in the parent package and in the Execute Package Task that calls the child package to 4 (to go one above the error count indicated in the message above), the whole thing executes sucessfully. I don't want to leave the Max Error Count set like this. Is there something I am missing? For example are there errors that do not get logged by default? I get some warnings, do a certain number of warnings equal an error?
Thanks,
Lee

After designing a SSIS package in Visual Studio 2005 that had two connection manager defined to keep the password. After I deployed the package to a file system. I then Imported the .dtsx file after making a Integration Services connection in Sql Server Management Studio. When I tried to run the package it failed when it tried to make the connection. When I edited the connection manager connection string and added the password and the package ran fine but it does not retain the password!. I need to have this package scheduled to run daily so I need to know how to have the package keep the password in the connection string. I have seen other posts on this issue but not seen a good solution. Could someone point me to the proper MSDN article that would explain how to implement this ? Is it a SQL Server configuration issue or a property in Visual Studio SSIS design time ?
thanks.

Hi there,
I'm creating an SSIS package that will execute legacy dts packages. The package to be executed is decided at runtime using a sql query task.
Executing a dts package statically works fine, but when I try to set the details of the dts to be run via expressions, I get the error below.
To make it dynamic, I created a variable of type string, and put the package name in here. I also have a string variable for the packageid. Then I set up an expression on the Execute DTS 2000 Package Task that sets the PackageName & PackageID property to this variable.
The PackageId is a string variable I've retrieved using:
select top 1 name,
cast(id AS varchar(50)) id,
cast(versionid AS varchar(50)) versionid
from sysdtspackages
where name = @PackageName
order by createdate desc
When I use the task to set the package id it works find (by selecting a dts, then changing the name), but when I try to provide the package id I get this message:
Error: 0x0 at Execute DTS 2000 Package Task: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004040E): Invalid GUID specified.
at DTS.PackageClass.LoadFromSQLServer(String ServerName, String ServerUserName, String ServerPassword, DTSSQLServerStorageFlags Flags, String PackagePassword, String PackageGuid, String PackageVersionGuid, String PackageName, Object& pVarPersistStgOfHost)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.PackageUtils.LoadDTS8Package(String pkgSrc, String sourceUser, String sourcePwd, Int32 srcType, Boolean bUseTrustedConnection, String packageName, String packagePassword, String packageID, String packageVersionGUID)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.Exec80PackageTask.LoadPackage()
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.Exec80PackageTask.ExecuteThread()
Task failed: Execute DTS 2000 Package Task
but the method signature specifies String PackageGuid, and it is a string..
any ideas??
i tried casting the variable like so:
(DT_GUID) @[User:TSPkgId], as the versionid is a uniqueidentifier on sysdtspackages.. It didn't like that at all (can't cast from type DT_WSTR to DT_GUID error code 0xC00470C2)

I am trying to load a SQL 2005 table that consists of two guid values in two fields. I have a flat file in tab delimited form that has guid values as strings to load into the table. I used a flat file source module in SSIS; which then goes to a Data Conversion module that takes the flat file and does a conversion to type unique indentifier [DT_GUID]; this goes to a OLE DB destination which is a SQL 2005 table that has no records and only those two fields. I get this following primary error:
[Data Conversion [498]] Error: Data conversion failed while converting column "Column 0" (373) to column "Copy of Column 0" (511). The conversion returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".
An example of the two values in the .txt flat file source:
84d92cbb-4b4b-435b-8d8a-789ea930283c 328340cd-85fd-4210-8d82-000024093d7c
Any ideas what may be causing this? This should be pretty straight forward load. But it is guid which seems to always cause cast issues.

Here's a problem description I read on another post but I have the same issue:
I am trying to Import Data from a csv file into a SQL Sever table. The Data being imported has a Unique Identifier in it but it is being considered as DT_WSTR datatype in SSIS
When i directly try to import, it gives an error:
The conversion returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".
I Tried to use Data Conversion to convert it to DT_GUID and import into SQL Server table but it again throws the above error.
Anyone has a clue?
Thanks!

I am using SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2012. I have a very simple SSIS package with a Data Flow task that exports from an OLE DB Source to a tab-delimited unicode Flat File Destination and a Bulk Insert task that loads from the file. Both the Flat File Destination and Bulk Import are using the same code page. The Bulk Insert task is using the wide char format to read from the file. The process works fine with nvarchar and int columns, but when I add a unique identifier column it fails with "type mismatch or invalid character for the specified code page".

Hi!
I run a query that returns strings that look like this: 08-07, 06-07,04-05 etc. But when I copy the query outuput from Management Studion in SS2005 into Excel 2003, strings get converted into custom dates such as 8-Jun, 9-Jul, 4-May etc in Excel. Is there anthing I can do in T-SQL to prevent this conversion? The strings are set as char(5) datatype in a T-SQL view.
Thanks.

Hi,
In our project we have two SSIS package.
And there is a task (Execute SSIS package) in First package that calls the execution of second package.
I m continuously receiving an error "Failed to decrypt protected XML node "PackagePassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available."
As we are running first package by job, job runs successfully logging above error
The protection level of second package is set to "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey"
Can anybody please suggest how to handle it?

Hi,I have a large table with a 'datetime' column that has date and timevalues in it. The data is in this format:2007-10-02 09:54:00.000The table is called 'profile' and the column 'msgdate'I want to return only rows that match a specific date. So far I havethe following query working:select * from profile where msgdate like '%2007%'This returns all rows that start with '2007'. However I cannot seem toge the syntax that will allow me to return a specific date, e.g.2007-10-02I have researched this, trying all sorts of queries with escapecharacters/sequences because of the dash character, but I cannot getit to return anything. Most of my queries have ran without error, itsjust that no data is returned.James

i'm inserting just text with dashes into char(75) field.
can someone explain and provide a solution? i would greatly appreciate it!
my script is quite simple, maybe i'm missing something.

Ok. Here is a weird problem.
I have a package which contains a variable with the value of a UNC sharename. The hostname in the share contains dashes.
I am trying to create a SQL Agent entry to execute said package. Because the package is now in production I want to pass in a new value for the sharename variable. I use the SQL @@SERVERNAME variable to build the package command. (Notice the BlotterUploadFolder variable at the end.)
SELECT @command = N'/FILE "\' + @@SERVERNAME + 'PackagesMiddleOfficeReconcilliationImportManualBlotter_AccountTransfers.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW /CONNECTION MiddleOfficeDb;"Data Source=' + @@SERVERNAME + ';Initial Catalog=MiddleOffice;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;" /SET package.variables[BlotterUploadFolder].Value;\' + @@SERVERNAME + 'ManualBlottersUploads'
If I print the @command variable right after setting it, I get what I expect.
/FILE "\PRD-NY-DB-01PackagesMiddleOfficeReconcilliationImportManualBlotter_AccountTransfers.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW /CONNECTION MiddleOfficeDb;"Data Source=PRD-NY-DB-01;Initial Catalog=MiddleOffice;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;" /SET package.variables[BlotterUploadFolder].Value;\PRD-NY-DB-01ManualBlottersUploads
If I cut-paste this into cmd window and execute it with DTExec.exe the package works fine. But when I run the schedule task it causes an error. When I go into the Job Properties dialog to look at the step, I see the value (in the "Set values" table) set to \PRD instead of \PRD-NY-DB-01.
If I modify the SELECT command above to put double-quotes around the value, the value is correct in the Job Properties dialog but causes an error when I exec it with DTExec.
/FILE "\PRD-NY-DB-01PackagesMiddleOfficeReconcilliationImportManualBlotter_AccountTransfers.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW /CONNECTION MiddleOfficeDb;"Data Source=PRD-NY-DB-01;Initial Catalog=MiddleOffice;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;" /SET package.variables[BlotterUploadFolder].Value;"\PRD-NY-DB-01ManualBlottersUploads"
causes the error
Option "-NY" is not valid.
Hopefully somebody has an idea of what is going on.
Thanks.

Hello,I have had a request, one of our tables is used as a report and I have beenasked that all fieldnames for months have dashes in them, like Jan-05 instead of Jan05 and so on...Now what we have is a CURSOR which loops through all values in another tablegenerating these fieldnames, like 'Jan-05', Feb-05' etc..Then the table definition is modified so these months display as fieldnames. That is fine,Except later it calls another stored procedure which inserts values fromanother table into this one.INSERT INTO TableNameSELECT *FROM TablenameObviously this is failing because the newly amended table now has dashes inthe fieldnames now.Now as the fieldnames are created dynamically I cannot simply do INSERTTablename ([Jan-05], [feb-5]) etc, as one would normally do,How could I do this bearing in mind its not always going to be 12 months weuse,Basically I am asking how can I modify this INSERT statement so it takesinto account the fieldnames with dashes in themBearing in mind I don't know what the fieldnames are called as they arecreated dynamically by a CURSOR in a different routine. And its not always 12 months.have you any ideas?and the dashes are requiredJayne
