Using SQL Server 2005 Server Management Studio, I attempted to back up a database, and received this error:
Backup failed: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Backup and file manipulation operations (such as ALTER DATABASE ADD FILE) on a database must be serialized. Reissue the satement after the current backup or file manipulation is completed (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

Backup Options were set to:
Back up to the existing media set
Overwrite all existing backup sets
I am fairly new to SQL 2005. Can someone help me get past this issue? What other information do I need to provide?
We have a scheduled weekly full backup job running through maintenance plan. We are using Sql 2008r2. Our backup server is windows 2008R2. There is plenty of space in the backup server but still my database full backup failed with the following error.

i have just exported all objects from one sql server to another and no matter how many times i check the password i keep getting this same error.. I KNOW for a fact that the password and username are correct and that they have all of the correct permissions.. what am i doing wrong?
I am having a very strange and frustrating problem with moving an application from Development to Production. I have been working on this application on XP with VS2005 with SQL Express on my local machine. Throughout the development lifecycle I have moved it to the Server multiple times to test things and everything has been working fine until this last time. What I have done since the last time: Added some ASP.NET AJAX functionality Added some views that I am having to fill a dataset from the dataset to manipulate the data before presentation. Everything has worked fine without any issues on my local machine with my local database. I just made backups of the databases and restored them on the server and have moved all my project files up to the server. I then installed the ASP.NET AJAX Extensions 1.0 on my 2.0 server.
NOW - The Problem: The entire site works fine, I can read data from every table of every database, and I can also write data to all the databases. However, this one page has a GridView that I pull data from the database and fill a DataSet with the data. I then manipulate the data, adding some data from other databases and then present it to the browser. I know this may not be the most trimmed piece of SQL code, but I figured I would post it incase there is something inefficient in my SQL that could be causing this. I have searched all the forums on this issue and tried the other options but nothing seems to work. I have an IIS server using asp.net to connect to a SQL database on a separate server which also happens to be a domain controller(i.e. no local accounts). I have tried changing the connection string, web.config, etc. but I still can't get connected. I believe the issue is with the SQL security but I'm not sure.

I am getting this error when I try to bcp in or even when I try to create a Primary key or index on a Table.

I ran CHECKALLOC and its running for days and I dont have any clue whats happening. If you have any idea please let me know how to solve this problem.

On the SQL Server the Event Viewer shows the same messages and errors every evening between 22:05:00 and 22:08:00. The following information messages are shown for every database:

I have added a Maintenance Plan but these jobs run after 02:00:00 at night.

I use the Transact-SQL BACKUP statement in Visual Basic to backup my local MSSQL Database. It give me this error

Hi,I keep getting this error message for a trans.log backup.Operating system error112(error not found).The disk has about 6GB space free, and the backup should only take upabout 550 MB, so I would think it is not space related but...The disk is NTFS.Any ideas?

i have installed visual express and sql express. but the problem is i want to add the connection string manuallty in visual studio express 2005. so i want to add a reference of sql.data.sqlclient but could not add ? i am not sure what is the problem or is am i missing anything

If my backup starts at 8PM and take 1 hour to complete, will the changes made to the database during that hour be captured in the full backup?
Stated another way, will my backup be a snapshot of: a) 8PM when the backup started b) 8PM with some of the changes made between the hour c) 9PM when the backup finished?

I'm getting this message on my third automated backup of the transaction logs of the day. Both databases are in full recovery mode, both successfully backed up at 01.00. The transaction logs backed up perfectly happily at 01:30 and 05:30, but failed at 09:30.
The only difference between 05:30 and 09:30's backups is that the log files were shrunk at 08:15 (the databases in question are the ones that sit under ILM2007, and keeping the log files small keeps the system running better).
Is it possible that shrinking the log files causes the database to think that there hasn't been a full database backup?

I had make one Desktop application in VB.net, having 6 threads simultaneously running. And each thread connect to sql server and stored the value in DB at every one second. Now my problem is that when I start the application its working fine but after 20-30 minutes exception is occuring.
