Ok, so I have a report that is generating product labels on a standard mailing lable sheet (30 of them on a 8.5X11 sheet of stock). The whole process works just fine even the printing of the bar codes when I am printing the lables from VS2005's Preview function. However, when I moved the report to our reports server and run the same report, the barcodes don't print out. I have checked, and the barcode font has been installed on the server.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! - Eric-
hi friends i am new to working in crystal reports in my application i want to display barcode in crystal reports. i was totally confused in this. can u help me..........
I got this weird problem and I was wondering whether anyone has an idea of how to resolve this.
I have a working report on the RS server, ran the report and tried to print it straight from the page by clicking on the Print button.
When it printed, it gave me additional pages as though the margins were incorrect. I have additional space on the left of the report, which pushes it out towards the right (very slight but noticable) which ended up printing "blank pages" ( basically only the page header). Moreover it didn't print any of the page footers ( which has the page numbers).
The weird part is that, I tried to export it to PDF format, and when I take a look at the pdf version, it looked fine with no formatting errors. Even printing the pdf works great.
I was wondering whether there was some bug with the RS Server or do I need to do somethin with the config file ? please advise. thanks !
I created a parameterized report. When end user select different values from the parameter drop down list , he/she can see the corresponding report for each value.
Now end user wants to print all those reports at the same time , without selecting each report by changing the parameter values.
Having just discovered that linked reports do not retain any print formating applied to the original report I thought I'd check out the forum and see if it was just me having a senile moment or if Microsoft had in fact dropped a clanger of massive proportion.
After reading one or two questions from other RS users it does seem as if Microsoft have stuck again and completely diminished a useful feature by stripping it of anything, well....... useful. Well done MS, you once again have my applause for mind-boggling ineptitude of what should be impossible magnitude. Ah, you've got to laugh.
Maybe this and other bugs with RS2005 will be ironed out in Microsoft Reporting Services 2008 - The Search for More Money.
Dependingon the printer, the report prints differently. Sometimes it's all messed up on certain printers on others it prints fine. I see the problem mostly with older HP printers..
While working in the report project in Visual Studio, I set my Report Layout to 14w x 8.5h with .25 margins on all sides, and the page size to be 13.5in (to take into account the margins). When I print from the report viewer control in Preview mode, the report prints as it should, in Landscape on Legal paper without me changing any settings.
When I deploy the same report to the report server, and print from there, the report prints in Landscape on Letter paper (which causes some columns to print on a second page).
Why is there a difference in the two environments? Is there something I'm missing?
The goal is for the users to be able to print the report correctly without having them change any print settings in the dialog.
I'm using vs2005. I can't print the reports by clicking the print icon only once, i have to do it twice.
After clicking OK in the print dialog box, I can see a pop up message that says it is printing but actually it is not printing, then if I repeat the process it will print. What could be the problem here? Please help. Thanks in advance. :)
Since SP2 was installed on our SSRS server a couple of days ago, reports viewed in the client Report Viewer control (with or without VS SP1) show a black background when in Print Layout Mode. All other rendering options work fine. Anyone else seen this? Any clues how to fix?
In short, we have started deploying Office 2007 to our users and Excel is currently the only client we use to interact with our AS2005 cubes.
A few users have reported issues (which I've verified), but the explanation in the KB article doesn't make any sense to me. These reports were originally developed in Excel 2003 and when opening them up in Excel 2007, we'll see a message saying that Excel found unreadable content in the .xls file and after clicking 'Yes' to recover contents of the workbook, we then receive a message that a PivotTable report was discarded due to integrity problems. If I opened up this report in Excel 2003, I don't receive these errors or messages.
Per the KB's explanation (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929766):
This issue occurs if the following conditions are true: The workbook contains a PivotTable that uses key performance indicators (KPIs).The KPIs are created in the Analysis Services Business Intelligence Development Studio. One or more of the KPIs have an expression in the Current Time Member property. Now, we are running 2005 Standard Edition with no SP, but will be deploying SP2 in a few days. Our cubes do not have any KPIs defined. Can I even define KPIs if we are only running Standard Edition?
The following TSQL code will take a character string and perform the encoding that is necessary to generate a BARCODE 128 formatted string to be used with a BARCODE 128 font.declare @myString varchar(255) select @myString = 'BarCode 1'
-- Define the final holding place of our output string declare @finalArray varchar(255)
-- Define the variables that we'll need to be using declare @checksumTotal int declare @checksum int select @checksumTotal = 104; select @checksum = 0;
-- Start building our output select @finalArray = @startchar
-- Loop through our input variable and start pulling out stuff declare @position int declare @thisChar char(1) select @position = 1 while @position <= len(@myString) begin select @thisChar = substring(@myString, @position, 1) select @checksumTotal = @checksumTotal + (@position * (ascii(@thischar)-32)) select @finalArray = @finalArray + @thisChar select @position = @position + 1 end -- We've gone past the length now
-- Now we need to figure out and add the checksum character select @checksum = @checksumTotal % 103 if @checksum = 0 select @finalArray = @finalArray + @spacechar else -- Barcorde array assumes 0 as initial offset so we need to add 1 to checksum select @finalArray = @finalArray + substring(@asciiString, @checksum+1, 1) -- Now we append the stop character select @finalArray = @finalArray + @stopchar
-- The @final Array represents the barcode encoded string select @finalArray
Hope it helps, Dalton
Blessings aren't so much a matter of "if they come" but "are you noticing them."
I'm working on a final project for school. It is a warehouse application. For this application I will need to generate a barcode. I have read some articles online and found out that I could use the code 39 barcode font.
I just don't fully understand how to generate the unique barcode. Could someone please help me? I also would like to store the barcodes in a sql server table. Could I use reports to print the barcode?
I'm using a free barcode font so i can create scannable tickets via reporting services 2k5. When I print the tickets, everything seems fine. But when i export to PDF though, it looks like the barcode font shrunk. All the lines are pulled together, making scanning impossible. Is there a certain setting or so that i can use to ensure the font's width ?
-Update- The weird thing is: when i export it inside visual studio, the barcode is shown as it is supposed to in the pdf !?
I am having an issue exporting a Code 39 barcode to pdf (works fine on RS and excel). Once in pdf it inserts white spaces between the bars to make it unreconizable. I have tried resizing, repositioning and different font sizes. SSRS and SQL are running on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Service Pack 1. Is there a hotfix out there for exporting EMF's to pdf's?
Hello all. I need to build a barcode and stuff it in a image control at runtime in SRS. I have the code at it works perfect for webforms etc but not in the actual SRS report itself. In SRS I put the code in the report properties code but it blows up on bitmap, graphics etc so I added the system.drawing and system.drawing.imaging namespace and it still fails with the same error. I'm certain there is a simple fix for this and would greatly appreciate anyones assistance in making this happen.
Error:
There is an error on line 15 of custom code: [BC30002] Type 'Bitmap' is not defined.

I am trying to encode the barcode on the reporting service using SQL server 2005, they told me it is possible to maintain the barcode on exported excel sheet, however, I did not find the barcode on it, only squre black image.
"SSIS 2012 Catalog doesn't have option to give read access to SSIS Catalog to view package run reports" ... Any luck allowing power developers / operators access to READ the SQL 2012 SSIS Execution Reports without granting them SSIS_Admin or Sysadmin?
According to this link posted back in 2011 (w/ Microsoft's feedback in Nov 2011: "We’re closing this issue as “Won’t Fix.” At this point the bug does not meet our bar for resolving prior to SQL Server 2012 RTM. As we approach the SQL Server 2012 release the bar for making code changes gets progressively higher." URL....Regarding Permissions to SSIS Catalog, here are the findings. We can give access in three ways:
1. READ Access – We can provide a user db_datareader access. With this the user can see the objects within the SSIS catalog database, but cannot see the reports.
2. SSIS_ADMIN – Add the user to this database role in SSISDB. With this the user can view the reports. But it also provides them privileges to modify catalog information which is not expected. We can add it using below script EXEC sp_addrolemember 'ssis_admin' , 'REDMONDPAIntelAnalyst'
3. SYSADMIN - Add the user to this server role. This will make the user an admin on the SQL server. This is not intended. Is there any method available which will have provision to give read only access to see SSIS Catalog package execution reports and not having modify Catalog access.
We are having problems printing Reports (when printing by clicking on the AcitiveX print control), where the font for the fields are set to "C39HrP24DhTt" (barcode).
While viewing the report it displays as Barcodes but while printing, the Barcode does not get printed, but the string gets printed.
Environment: SSRS 2005
Using the ReportViewer Control in a .Net 2.0 Web App to render the reports.
BarCodes print fine in the following situations:
1. When the Report is exported to Excel and when printed from there
2. When you click on the print button on Internet Explorer
3. When saving as html (from view source) and opening that html document and printing.
BarCodes do NOT get printed in the following situation:
1. When printing by clicking on the "Print" (Active X Control) icon. Even the "Print Preview" does not show the Barcode.
Hello SQL Server Experts, Data Analysts, and Report Writers et al:
re: Reporting Options with SQL Server
I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:
Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports, Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting or presentation of the end report product?
Thank you to all, and I hope this is a beneficial discussion to others.
UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?
Does anyone know, or direct me to an example of, how to print a SERVER report directly to a printer from a windows application? There are plenty of examples on the internet that shows how to do this with a local report but a SERVER report seems to be a whole other animal.
I've the following T-SQL block that I'm executing where I want to print the following output in next line but not sure how to do this:
This is printing everything in one line: SET @BODYTEXT = ' Dear ' + @fname +',We realize you may have taken ' + @course_due + ' in '+ @month_last_taken +'.'
How do I do this: SET @BODYTEXT = ' Dear ' + @fname + ',We realize you may have taken ' + @course_due + ' in '+ @month_last_taken +'.'
Also how can I create a table in this variable, something like this:
(TABLE) LIST THE COURSE CODE, COURSE NAME , EMPLOYEE ID, EMPLOYEE NAME
(Course Name) (Last Completed) (Now due in Month/year)
My T-SQL code:
DECLARE @email varchar(500) ,@intFlag INT ,@INTFLAGMAX int ,@TABLE_NAME VARCHAR(100) ,@EMP_ID INT ,@fname varchar(100)
create table Test(ID number, Name nvarchar(500)); insert into Test(1,'abc testing'); insert into Test(2,'abc include persian آنا اسمیت'); insert into Test(3,'mnp testing'); insert into Test(4,'abc include Russian Джон Тед');
I want to get records that have only english characters i.e ID=1 and 3 only.
I tried select * from Test where Name like '%[a-zA-Z0-9]%' but this will return all 4 records. How can I accomplish this?
I am creating reports in sql server reporting service 2005, After getting reports when we give the print option system will be restarted. But this report is properly printing in Internet Explorer6 but ie7 it cannot work.I don't know why this happened? please give any suggestion.
I wan to print out the dynamic query result so that i can use as a script for some tasks. This is the scenario wher i got stuck, i am not able to print out the result as it return only the last value because of OUTPUT param limitation
Is there any way to print all the 3 INSERT stmt.
IF OBJECT_ID ('tempdb.dbo.#temp') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE #temp CREATE TABLE #temp (Command varchar(8000)) INSERT INTO #temp SELECT 'INSERT INTO Test1(column1,column2)values(1,2)' UNION ALL SELECT 'INSERT INTO Test2(column1,column2)values(1,2)'
