Bizzare Error - All Back-up Agent Jobs Failed With Unsual Error!

I have a really odd one here. We have a production server which is running SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition SP3. It has a number of databases which are backed up nightly. Last night all of the back-up jobs failed with the following error: -
Msg 913, Sev 16: Could not find database ID ##. Database may not be activated yet or may be in transition. [SQLSTATE 42000]
The databases are in good shape - no issues to report. When I run the Agent Job code within a Query Analyser session it works fine.
When I try and re-start the back-up from the Agent Job it continues to fail with the same error.
We've got a problem with our replication. If I try to run the snapshot agent I get the message "Query for data failed". The detail view of this message shows the following:
I've been using replication for a long while now but have never come across this error. It's a basic transactional replication from ServerA to ServerB, where ServerA is also the distributor. Everything had been running fine on it until yesterday, when this error started popping up and no further transactions could be delivered.
After some quick googling I was able to determine that the distribution agent account needed write access to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server100Com. According to the MSFT article it's because the distribution agent is running under a non-default profile. I didn't change this. However, what I did change around the time that these errors started occurring was the server's Replication Max Test Size setting. It would be far too coincidental for this to not be the cause, but what I don't understand is *why* that would have changed it.
how do I change this? It is definitely not preferable to create temp files in this directory in our environment.
I'm getting this, after upgrading from 2000 to 2005.Replication-Replication Distribution Subsystem: agent (null) failed.The subscription to publication '(null)' has expired or does notexist.The only suggestions I've seen are to dump all subscriptions. Sincewe have several dozen publications to several servers, is there adecent way to script it all out, if that's the only suggestion?Thanks in advance.
hi , i am creating a service broker application between two different instance.when i am initiating a dialog from the source my message remain in the sys.transmission_queue.but its transmission_status column is empty.
i attached the profiler with both source and target by including all the service broker event.
in my source profiler i am getting the error like -- Connection attempt failed with error: '10061(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)'. with event Broker:connection
and in the target profiler error is --This message could not be delivered because the security context could not be retrieved. with event Broker:Message Undelivarible.
i have checked my port also using telnet with remotely and localy both working fine. i am using port no. 4001 and i have mentioned the port no. in the address of the route.
I'm trying to create a simple Data transfermation. I have a flat file that came of a unix server.. it's 177 bytes wide.. thought it was 175, but when I created the flat file connector, I could see some extra characters on the end.
My output is going to be an excel spreadsheet, I only want two columns from the input. I created an oledb jet 4.0 connection. and followed instructions from here :
On my first attempt to dataflow, I ran into unicode errors and had to do this:
ran into a problem with unicode errors. went to the source for the flat file. for the output column in question changed to Unicode string [DT_WSTR].
When I run , here are the errors I get:

I am using windows 2003 server and i have installed SSAS 2005 and configured http request for AS 2005 with this below url : http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/httpasws.mspx. I had tried all the possiblities given in this url. But i am getting like "Test connection failed because of error initializing provider. The HTTP Server returned the following error : Not found" when i create udl file. Moreover i have installed MSOLAP 3.0 and OLAP 9.0 provider and MSXML 6.0 Parser.

When I try to execute the Query task, it fails with the above error. Also, the above the sql statement cannot be parsed and gives error "The query failed to parse. Syntax or access violation"
I would like to add that the above package was migrated from DTS, where it runs without any error, eventhough it gives the same parse error message.
I would appreciate if anybody can help me out of this issue by suggeting where the problem is.
Hi,I keep getting this error message for a trans.log backup.Operating system error112(error not found).The disk has about 6GB space free, and the backup should only take upabout 550 MB, so I would think it is not space related but...The disk is NTFS.Any ideas?
I have a bundling package that runs about 20 other packages. It has been working fine for a while but a couple of days ago it fail with the following message,
Error 0x800706BE while loading package file "D:PackagesToradSales.dtsx". The remote procedure call failed.

I've built SSIS package and made a job to execute it automatically but it always returns an error. The job returns OK but when we looked at the Log File viewer, it conatins this error log :

I have log shipping set up between 2 SQL 2000 SP1 Servers on Win 2000. The db is small 10 meg, and when the restore job on the backup server fails I am getting "sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed." as the message, the maint paln on the primary server show no error. Anyone seen this before? The restore has worked 3 out of 5 times
Many a times see the below error in SQL Error log.
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: ]
Is this something to do here?
Note: If I run the below statement I know that the SQL Error log entry will go off, but wanted to know the real significance of this error?

I had just installed SQL 2005 dev on my laptop and got an error message when I tried to create a package using the BI IDE. I received the same error using VS2005 IDE. But the project was created regardless without any packages. When I tried to create a new package in the project, I received the same error again, but with an option to view the error details.

I am trying to create a linked server between 2 SQL Server 2005 boxes. When I create the linked server I specify a login for the connection. The strange part is that I get the following error when it goes to test the connection:
The test connection to the linked server failed Login failed for user 'Domainuser'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)
I can use the SQL mangement studio to conenct to the database using this same login. The login has all the server roles assigned to it also.
Can anyone shed some light as to what may be the problem?

This just started today.. These jobs have been running for months with no problems.
I have setup a Maint plan that backs up the user and system databases and the transaction Logs on my user databases.
Does optimises and integrity checks on those databases as well. I am not attempting to repair any minor problems. I am not performing integrity checks before backing up the database and transaction logs.
All of the databases that I am doing a transaction log backup on have recovery mode of full.
When the jobs run they fail instantly with error code 22029. Sqlmaint.exe failed to run. This was working up until the end of the day on the Thursday before Good Friday. (last week) The transaction log backup ran fine at 4:00 PM the same job failed at 8:00 PM. No changes were made to the server during that time. Another issue that started at the same time. I have a web page used to grab data from a text file export and pull it into an AS400. I use this server to house the DTS packages and stored procedures that the process needs. I suddenly quit working when the jobs quit running.
We are in a mixed enviroment with most clients on AD and this server and most others still in a NT 4 domain. We have been like this for at least 3 months and everything has worked fine. I setup the various users and systems the way the need to be, to work.
Originally the SQL Agent was running as a generic NT 4 Domain user with local administrator rights to the local box and server role of system administrator. The MSSQLSERVER and DTC services were running as the built in system account.
Everything was happy then it broke.
When I reboot the server the jobs and the website work fine. Then after a period of time that I have not figured out yet, but more than 15 minutes and less than 2 hours. Everything quits working.
I have changed all the services to run as a domain admin with SQL system adminsitrator server role. Still same thing.
I have changed all the services to run as the built in system account. Still same thing.
I run the sqlmaint from command line with the switches that I am using in the maint jobs and it runs fine.
I have run dbcc checkdb on all the databases and they are fine.
The DTS packages and the stored procedures used by the website run fine from with in Query analyzer.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pulling a "Number (8)" data type field for a date (formatted YYYYMMDD) from a Oracle 9i database. When the value is inserted into the database it is set a zero (A non-null database for the most part), otherwise it is for example 20061224. If the date field has a value the date is displayed correctly, but if it is zero then I get the "#Error" message.
Now I've returned the value with out any formatting done to the string, and it will return "0"(zero) or a number. I've returned the lengths of the returning value and it comes back "1" or "8". I read a lot of previous posts and I thought at first that it was because I was trying to do a substring function on the zero value getting a index error. So I've changed the iif test condition many different ways with no prevail. I read a previous post where someone ended up doing his work in his SQL, but I would like to find out how to do this in the report. This is a simple expression, so I feel like there is something obvious I don't know maybe something with the format mask.
I need to setup an email alerts with Jobs errors ( with error logs is it possible ) on nightly basis.
example:

I have a series of jobs in the SQL server Agent that will begin and appear to run fine, but will never finish. Is there a way to limit the time that a job will run in the agent, for instance stop with failure if not completed within 1 hour?
I am trying to pass back the number of errors encountered by a child package to the Parent package. I have a script within the child package, which will set the value of the Parent package's variable (ChildErrCount). However, I have no idea how to access the Child package's Errors collection to get a count.
Any ideas? Has someone figured out a way to reference the current package's properties (besides what's available from Dts.* ?
Hi All, I am not able to see any of the jobs in the enterprise manager that are scheduled on one of our production servers. Have any body seen this type of behaviour of SQL server.. The jobs are there in the SQL as I can query sysjobs table to see there entry.. The jobs are being executed properly when they are supposed to.. Thanks Ajay
