Blank Pages In Print Layout Version Of Report

Sep 14, 2007

Hi All

I have a report that looks and works fine in the native 'screen layout' but when I select the Print Layout option, a blank page is inserted after each page. These blank pages contain the header and footer, but not the body section of the report. Has anyone else seen this sort of thing? Is there something in my report layout causing this, or is it a bug in the Print Layout rendering?

Thanks much

Matrix Tables - Blank Pages Print

Jul 23, 2007

Hello,

I have a fairly large report with multiple matrix tables. They grow to a fixed width horizontally and may grow to various heights vertically. I have the interactive height set to zero so that it displays on the web page on one screen. When I go to print this report, I am getting a blank page between each page with data. Here are my dimensions:

Report:

height: 15 in

width: 8.5 in

interactive height: 0 in

interactive width: 8.5 in

left margin: .5 in

right margin: .5 in

top margin: .5 in

bottom margin: .5 in

Body:

height: 13.3875 in

width: 6.9 in

Would this problem be due to the fact that my matrix tables span an area greater than a normal page height in design mode even before they grow dynamically? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Report Layout Is Different In Print Preview

May 4, 2007

Hi there,

I'm working on an invoice report, that requires borders around the whole report. I've got header, footer and body in the report. In the body section, i've got a table which shows line items for an invoice. So the table grows as per the no. of lines in the invoice. As said before I've got to have border around the report. I tried put info in ractangles with borders for header/footer and table with borders in body section. The borders appears fine for headers and footer ractangles but as the table grows/shrinks, border from body section is not continuous to the footer section. i.e. For an invoice with 2 line items the borders for table will appear for two lines only but i want it to be scratched up to the footer area regardless of no. of line items in the invoice.

I've also tried to use borders for header, footer and body sections itself rather than using ractangles. But then when i export the report to pdf and print from pdf, it looks fine but when i tried to print from report manger its missing right hand side border for page header, footer and body. I've made sure there is enough margin around report. Report body/header/footer are 19 cm wide that's mean the report still have 2 cm of space for margins. The left/right margin are 0.5 cm.

I've been trying to do various things for last 2 weeks but not getting anywhere. Can i anyone please help into this?

Thanks,

Vivek

Blank Pages In Report With Matrix And Subreports.

Mar 4, 2008

Hi,

I have a master report that contains 4 sub reports. The first two subreports contains matrix controls that can (and will) spill over to a second page. With 5 columns of data the matrix subreports fit nicely onto one page, 6 or more columns and they will spill into a second page. The second two subreports will always fit onto one single page. All four subreports are inside a list control which will repeat for each structure. e.g. Each subreport will be rendered once per structure.

The master report renders perfectly (with no blank pages) whenever the two subreports with the matrix controls fit on one page each. However, whenever the matrix control subreports spill into a second page it causes the master report to insert a blank page after subreport 3 and 4, bare in mind subreport 3 and 4 both fit perfectly on a single page. I've check all margins and page widths etc.

The blank page problem only occurs whenever the matrix needs to span two pages.

Anybody encountered this problem or have any ideas how to fix it? I'm beginning to think it is a bug with reporting services.

Regards,
Adrian.

SSRS 2005 Report Prints Blank Pages

Nov 12, 2007

I am very new to Reporting Services. When I set the report to landscape, either by setting width and height at 11 X 8.5 when in layout, or by setting landscape in page setup when I am in preview, a blank page prints in between each report page. I've checked the forum, and tried setting margins to 0, but have not had any success. I saw this response:

the body width plus margins should be less than the defined page width. but I'm not sure what settings are being referred to

Has anyone been able to solve this problem?

Thanks very much.

Reporting Services :: Blank Pages In Report Preview?

Aug 1, 2005

I wrote a report today containing one grouping.  Everything appears all right in the report preview, except that every other page is "blank", i.e., shows only the page header and page footer; all grouping and detail information is missing.

The data on the page following the blank page seems to pick up where the previous non-blank page left off, so all information seems to be present within the report. The report width and height properties are typical portrait-style  -- 8.5 x 11 inches.  The columns do not "run off the edge" of the report page boundary.  I haven't selected any page break for the grouping, as the grouping detail is typically only a few rows long, and would otherwise result in a very large number of pages.

Existing Report Started Printing Blank Pages

Oct 11, 2007

Hi there.

We have a report that has been working fine for almost a year and just recently we found a bug that when we print, the 1st 3 pages each have a single line from the table header and then the details of the table print.

The report table does have 2 subreports in detail rows. We have diligently checked to make sure that the sizes fit in both the main report and the subreports and we know that the report version did not change.

After a little digging we discovered that we recently patched RS to be version 9.2.3042. When we run the report on another RS server that is running 9.00.1406.00, it works fine. Do you know if this could be the cause? If so, is there another patch that addresses the issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Problems With Print Layout

Jan 16, 2007

Hi all,

In my report I create a group of matrixes and remove the space between them. They have the same size and when I make the preview it looks just fine. They apear all together without any space between them. My problem is when I make the print layout. They appear with a huge space between them and I don't know why.
Has someone passed by the same? Any solution for this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance.

Reporting Services :: SSRS Print Layout Support RTL Rendering

Apr 28, 2015

Is there a support of printing report with matrix that is set to RTL (LayoutDirection) which displays in ReportViewr control with property RightToLeft set to RightToLeft.Yes in DisplayMode = PrintLayout.

The report looks fine in the report viewr in DisplayMode = Normal, but when goes to PrintLayout, it seems that the left data on page is rendered first.

Example: This is the display of the report viewer, I would like to print the columns by the same order it displays here:

And this is the result when clicking Print Preview: the first page displays the data of the last columns and if i go to the last page (page 9) i will see the data of the first column as displays in the previous gif, I don't have a clue why?

Is there a property that can be set to force the print layout to render RTL. Anyway, it seem to me as a bug since the Report Viewer displays the data correctly and renders the data RTL as expected.

Blank Pages While Rendering Matrix In PDF Format

Jun 1, 2007

I am using a matrix control in a report containing 2 subreports. The matrix control is present in one of the subreports. When I export the full report into the PDF,if the matrix are rendered in a single page, the report is fine and there are no blank pages. But when the number of columns exceeds the first page and moves into the second page then there are 3 blank pages in the report for every page with content. The number of blank pages after each page with content is equal to the number of times the matrix would scroll into a new page.

This problem occurs only when I try to generate the whole report in PDF. No blank pages appear when I render subreports into PDFs individually.

Please help!!

Print-preview Displays Different Number Of Pages

Aug 3, 2007

We have 2 users accessing exactly the same reports/data but who are getting different numbers of pages printed.

The report viewer displays 12 pages of data; when one user selects Print preview they get 12 pages displayed and 12 pages print. When the other user displays exactly the same 12 pages of report data and preview it, they get 24 pages, with the last column apparently spilling on to a second page. I realise that physical pagination is controlled by the print control and is unrelated to the HTML rendering, but the users have the same printer selected and the print-preview shows the margins set to the same size. What else can be causing the difference?

We are using RS 2000, SP2. TIA for any assistance with this.

Reporting Services :: Rdlc Print Layout Size Varies With Resolution On Surface Pro (Win 8.1 / Winforms)

Jul 17, 2014

We have a winforms application with local rdlc reports.  On Surface Windows 8 Pro devices only, reports render such that they are scaled down and don't fill the page.  If resolution is lowered on the device, the report scales up to fill the page.

This affects the appearance in print layout and well as the actual printed size.

If we export to pdf, it renders to fill the page (as expected).  If you print to pdf or to printer, the scale is shrunken.

If we change the resolution settings so that "Make  text and other items larger or smaller" is set to small, the issue is resolved except the tablet is not very usable on this setting. Is this a bug?

Print Version

Nov 30, 2006

I have created a report which contains grouping.  Yesterday I learnt how to add a boolean paramter to expandAll.  Now in my ASP.Net front end I am using ReportViewer to retrieve the report...

Now I want to introduce a "Print Version" and "Normal Version" (print version being all rows showing (expanding all grouping) and normal being groups showing....

Will this work?

Use javascript to create to div... 1 showing ReportViewer1 where expandAll parameter is true and div 2 containing ReportViewer2 where parameter is false...a radiobutton conrolled by javascript code will hide 1 div and show the other?!

For some reason it doesnt load the report in ReportViewer2?!

Please help!

How To Secure Report Server And Report Pages For Account Not Having Permission?

Mar 27, 2007

I want to make the ReportServer and Reports pages secured i.e not allow anyone to access these pages via browser.

I login to a machine as user ABC. This user does not have permission on reports.
if this user accesses ReportServer or Reports, expected is that access should be denied unless I enter
an account that has been given permissions.
for e.x. following pages should be secured.
http://<reportserver>/Reports
http://<reportserver>/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2f<Report_Project>%2f<Report_Name>
http://<reportserver>/ReportServer
http://<reportserver>/ReportServer?%2f<Report_Project>&rs:Command=ListChildren

Actual result is that I am able to access these pages. When I click on the report I get the error (this is expected)
but then user ABC should be shown error on first page itself.

In short, for all the accounts that do not already have permissions on reports, the server should challenge me to enter an account and password.
Is there some setting in the configuration file?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance!

Report Layout On PDF

Sep 11, 2007

I have had a lood through the forum but although folks seem to be having a lot of issues with layout I can't see a problem quite like this one.

We have a number of customer reports which need to be exported to PDF and to look quite smart. They are single page reports with things like address and customer info at the top, followed by the main report, all of which can have a variable number of rows. Then at the bottom is some supplementary information which can also vary quite substantially in size. All I want is for the main report to hug the top of the page and the supplementary one to hug the bottom of the page - and I only really care what it looks like in PDF format. The problem is that I can't seem to achieve this. As the area at the top expands the bottom section moves up and down the page. I'd be quite happy to set aside a fixed area at the bottom of the page for the supplementary report, but I can't even work out how to acheive that! You would think that the obvious answer would be to put it in to a footer, but for some reason you can't put data elements in to headers or footers (why?). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
