Broken Image When Using SQL 2000 Reporting Services
Jun 30, 2007
Hi,
I have a report that works fine when i deploy it in the development environment, but when i deploy the same report on the production server pointing to the same data source as the development environment; the images doesn't show up. I do see broken image X on all the images.
I searched the internet but couldn't find a solution to solve this problem. Any help on this will be appreciated.
we have tables with many image columns. We fill these image columns via ODBC and SQLPutData as described in MSDN etc (using SQL_LEN_DATA_AT_EXEC(...), calling SQLParamData and sending the data in chunks of 4096 bytes when receiving SQL_NEED_DATA).
The SQLPutData call fails under the following conditions with sqlstate 08S01
- The database resides on SQL Server 2000 - The driver is SQL Native Client - The table consists e.g. of one Identity column (key column) and nine image columns - The data to be inserted are nine blocks of data with the following byte size:
1: 6781262 2: 119454
3: 269 4: 7611
5: 120054
6: 269
7: 8172
8: 120054
9: 269 The content of the data does not matter, (it happens also if only zero bytes are written), nor does the data origin (file or memory).
All data blocks including no 7 are inserted. If the first chunk of data block 8 should be written with SQLPutData the function fails and the connection is broken. There are errors such as "broken pipe" or "I/O error" depending on the used network protocol.
If data no 7 consists of 8173 bytes instead of 8172 all works again. (Changing the 4096 chunk size length does not help)
Has anybody encountered this or a similar phenomenon?
We can see the chinese language without any problem. However, when I open the upper report on my Report Builder, the chinese words are broken looks like below. This symptom happens after windows10 upgrade from window7 , once I use windows7 , there was no problem to see report builder.
In report builder 3.0 I have row groups. I want a total at the end of each row but I want the total to be broken down by 3 columns based on 3 possible values of a field in the dataset. The report expands as the date range entered is increased. I want the total of clinic id + service id + program id + protocol id + appointment date but I want the total column to be broken down by appts that have shown or not shown or canceled.
See screenshots below for seeing how I have it configured. Is this possible? I have tried every combination of possibilities but I keep getting the row total in each of the 3 columns comprised of the total column.
and
The results look like:
The last Total column displays the entire row count NOT separated by the show, no show, and cancel status'. I have tried filters and different expressions but keep getting the same output. Is this even possible?
I have been using the report viewer to render my reports on a webpage. All worked fine for a time and now nothing is working correctly.
I have about ~8 report viewer on one page, all in an individual IFRAME. What happen is, sometimes I'm getting an error from IE (Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage) or the report starts loading (I see the title) but where the chart should be I have an X (broken image) icon.
Sometimes when I click on the image and choose "Display Image" the image will display.
Facts
Reports loads correctly on the report manager site (the Reporting Services webpage) Once those errors starts appearing, the session seems to act funny and I can't even refresh the webpage (F5) I have the latest report viewer patch installed I have the SP2 for SQL Server 2005 installed Running Windows 2000 Server Running IIS 6 The website was developped using IIS 5, but was tested on IIS 6 for about 3 weeks and we started to have problems today. The reports are linked with Analysis Services to get the data from cubes. I'm really out of ideas right now. Maybe I should just restart the IIS server, but the thing is live and I can't do it right now. However, if I need to restart it, will the problem occurs another time? Will it become a solution to restart the server?
I already restarted Reporting Services and nothing has changed.
how can I pull up an image from the file system eansted of a table field? From the table i only get the name and the path where the image is stored and wiht that info I want to fill up the picture box of the report. Thanks.
Hi, i want to display images on the Reporting services, Images resides on the same machine but we want to set the image path dynamically from dataset fields. please suggest me best possible approach. this is windows application and all the data with image path is in a single dataset.
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified. Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Common.DBUtils.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script) at ReportServicesConfigUI.SqlClientTools.SqlTools.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)
It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'? Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
I cant view my image in my reports after deploying them where as I can view my image in the preview tab. And also I can view the image if I take printout from the deplyed reports. What could be the reason? Can anyone help me here..??I did embedded the image(.jpg file) to my rdl file.
I have a requirement where i have to display some data which is coming from a sub report when i click on an image. I have two problems here,
1) if i provide toggle on image text box it is displaying + symbol which i don't want 2) If i provide image properties -> action -> go to report -> it is displaying the values in a different page but my requirement is to display in the same page
Conclusion is : when i click on the image(without + symbolo) i have to display sub report values in the same page.
I have a image in SSRS which is of PNG in format. when I preview the image it is coming as expected but if I export that to PDF the image is having the black color back ground. One more point to be noted here is my actual image file is having a small shading in it which is not visible properly, but the same back ground is coming with full black color line in the PDF form.
Another issue is : I have 3 sub reports in my SSRS report. In the preview I can see the data is coming in order of sub reports but if I export it to PDF the second sub-report data is coming at the end of the report and first and 3rd sub reports are fine. But If I have only one record for 2nd sub-report the order is same in both the Preview page as well as in the PDF format.
When I place an image WITHIN a chart, it appears in the correct location in DESIGN mode, however, when I preview it, my chart renders...and then the image renders NEXT TO the chart. I can't get the image to display WITHIN the chart area.
I have created a new report.what i do in application is i compress the image and save it in database.now i need to retrieve the compressed image and display in the report. I have used the following code to decompress the binary data save in the image.
I dont know after that what should i do. How to show the picture in SSRS Report. I need to show picture in many reports.one of my doubt is how to call this function in SSRS Report. The function accepts input as byte but in database the column in varbinary.
Should I convert the input type of function to varbinary instead of byte array?
Public Function Decompress(ByVal arr As Byte()) As Byte() Dim notCompressed As Boolean notCompressed = False Dim MS As MemoryStream MS = New MemoryStream()
I have a table that has an image datatype column and I also have acontant type column in that same table to define which type of data isstored in that table. In this case a screen shot or may be a word document may be stored inthat table....!I am trying to use that image datatype field in my report and when theyclick some button I needed the reporting service report to open awindow based on the content type and display that image.Has anyone done this? Any help will be much appreciated...Thanks in advance....
I wouls like to have a custom button called "Set" in the report toolbar in addition to the "View Report" button. I am aware of the fact that the look and feel of the existing controls on the toolbar can be customised or can be hidden using HtmlViewer.css. Is there any code which I can tweak to add buttons or images on the report toolbar?
I tried creating Toggle Option over a Text box to Show the Image on Click but Since the Toggle refreshes the entire report user faces performance issue. Is there any other option to avoid the Toggle Refreshing the report or to show an image on Click of an Text Box?
I'm developing an SSRS report using VS2013 Premium with SSDT - BI v12.0.2430.0. SSRS is hosted on a SQL 2014 instance. The underlying database table has a varchar(max) field which stores text and embedded image data from a third-party application. I can extract this text, save it as an html file and open that in a browser. It renders complete with any embedded image.Meanwhile, the report textbox has its Placeholder Properties, Markup type set to HTML. Yet when I run the report, the text is displayed but any embedded image is not.Is there any approach I can take, perhaps transforming the varchar(max) data to another format in the query for my dataset, that can show the text and any embedded image in my report? Or is it that the TextBox control is limited, not unreasonably, to text only? If so, is there another control I could use, perhaps custom or third-party?
I have a server report which made by ssrs 2005, I am using vs 2005 to build an aspx page and call this report which already uses dynamic query. I use parameters and send these to reportviewer with setparameter method. I dont use DataBind and Refresh method. SetParameter is enough to generate Report. When report generates everything is fine. But when i export this report to excel the pictures in this report get smaller to fit in cell height. I used rendering extensions but its same.
And i used copy contents of reportviewer and paste it to excel file. There is interesting case here. If this is the first time that i run the report and copy and paste. No image is seen in excel workseet but other report elements is fine. But if i click on refresh button on reportviewer toolbar and report regenerates, i try to copy and paste and it works fine, and if i dont close ie window copy and paste progress works good and i dont need to click on refresh button on each report to copy and paste?
This is so interesting subject, i tried lots of things for example i tried to use databind and ServerReport.Refresh methods maybe it acts like clicking on refresh button but this wasnt the same only difference is it took more time to generate the report.
I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets? Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.
In an asp.net app I'm creating email attachments from ssrs reports and am rendering them In Word and Excel using the WORDOPENXML and EXCELOPENXML format extensions. When I render the report in excel, the image is sized correctly, however, when I render the same report in word, its very small. I will attach a screenshot of each, and in the word screenshot, I will select the image so you can see the image control's outline (the control's actual size). Notice the image inside of the border is very small. How can I resolve this?
I'm trying to create reports in RS2005 using AS2000 as my data source. I understand that if I use RS2005 on AS2000, I wont be able to enjoy the OLAP based parameters as in using AS2005. Does anyone know an easy way to easily use Parameters in RS2005 while still using AS2000?
i have a small problem with the data sources in the reporting services, maybe you can clarify the situation... I have a MS CRM 3 solution with the reporting services 2005 installed. From an other vendor we have a arcplan solution on the 2000 analysis services. I would like to get access from the 2005 reporting services to the 2000 cube. Is this possible? Ive read that the SSMS cant connect to the 2000 cubes. Can i connect from the reporting services??
How to display the logo in middle of report header , The logo is embedded in the Image folder . The column of the report are static. we are using SSRS 2008
Can report be created with code (XML, SQL, ActiveX?) using the new Reporting Services for SQL Server 2000?
I have to create a report and save it in Excel format. By default the report is saved as - *.rdl. but the web report server has an option of saving it as excel or pdf etc formats. Is there a way to do this automatically? ie by code and not manually
I have used SQL 2005 reporting services for quite sometime and now one of our clients wants the SQL 2005 reports that I developed. There's only one catch: they only have SQL 2000.
Is there any way to deploy my reports to their server on SQL 2000?
I have seen this done by someone else but cant seem to find how to do it...basically I have a sytle sheet which I want to use on all the Reporting Services reports, to so they all look the same....
I am trying to get SQL 2000 reporting services up and running, and am trying to get a condensed explanation of what I need to do, and any other software I may need to purchase.
I have already installed the Reporting Services, and after reading the help, it seems that I have to install MS Visual Studio 2003 in order to design the reports. Is this true.
Anyone that can give me some help in getting this up and running - I would be grateful.
