CLR Integration In 64bit Machine In SQL 2005 With X86 Platform Target

Aug 3, 2006

Hi,

I have following problem:

My production problem enviornment is:

Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 edition with Service Pack 1

SQL Server 2005 with .Net Framework 2.0 for 64bit machines.

I have a .Net application that uses assemlies that use COM references, so I have my application compiled with target platform x86 so that it can use COM Interop and can run in WOW64. All of my assemblies are compiled for x86 target platform.

We are using the same set of assemblies on 32bit machines and SQL server 2005 with 2.0 framework for 32 bit machines.

Now, I have one of my assemblies target platform x86, being used in SQL server 2005 on 64 bit machines using CLR. The assembly gets installed fine, but when I call the function I get following error on 64 bit machines only. 32 bit machines do not have any problem:

Msg 10314, Level 16, State 11, Line 1

An error occurred in the Microsoft .NET Framework while trying to load assembly id 65548. The server may be running out of resources, or the assembly may not be trusted with PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS or UNSAFE. Run the query again, or check documentation to see how to solve the assembly trust issues. For more information about this error:

System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'echalk.common, Version=7.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=77f22df29f1a5e39' or one of its dependencies. The given assembly name or codebase was invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131047)

System.IO.FileLoadException:

at System.Reflection.Assembly.nLoad(AssemblyName fileName, String codeBase, Evidence assemblySecurity, Assembly locationHint, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean throwOnFileNotFound, Boolean forIntrospection)

at System.Reflection.Assembly.InternalLoad(AssemblyName assemblyRef, Evidence assemblySecurity, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean forIntrospection)

at System.Reflection.Assembly.InternalLoad(String assemblyString, Evidence assemblySecurity, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean forIntrospection)

at System.Reflection.Assembly.Load(String assemblyString)

We are using the same exact steps but I get the above error in 64bit machines. I know if I had the asseblies compiled with AnyCPU, it works on both sql servers but then my application fails in 64 bit machines. If I compiled all my assemblies with x86 platform then application works but sql server functions stop working on 64 bit machines. Is there a work arount that I could use so that I don't have to create 2 sets of assemblies for application and sql server seperate.

Any help would be appreciated. Also thanks in advance.

Executing Package From C# On 64bit Platform

Aug 1, 2007

Hi

I have been successfully executing a series of IS packages from C# using the following syntax

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package package;
package = app.LoadPackage(ISPackagePath + @"myPackage.dtsx", null);
package.ImportConfigurationFile(ISPackagePath + @"MyConfiguration.dtsConfig");
result = package.Execute();
package.Dispose();

My client has just moved their SQL boxes to a 64bit platform and this process no longer runs.

Now im also running some packages in a SQL Agent job on the SQL box and im aware of the issue of an SSIS job step defaulting to using the 64bit version of DTExec.exe. Ive updated those job steps to be operating system (cmdExec) type steps calling the 32bit version of DTExec.exe, and everything is fine there.

Is there anyway to force the Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package object in my C# code to use the 32bit version of DTEexec.exe? This code is running on the same 64bit SQL server box as the SQL agent job. Or will Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package object always default to using the 64 bit version if it is executed on a 64bit box ?

I would just call sp_start_job from C# and implement the IS packages in another job but unfortunatly my code cannot be given correct permissions to see the SQL agent jobs.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Migrate SQL Server From 64Bit Platform To 32Bit

Jan 2, 2007

Hi, All:

We have to migrate several 64Bit SQL Servers to 32Bit platform. Due to the 64Bit source systems are all production system, the downtime is too limited. So we can only get the DB files via Detach way. Among the source systems, both SQL2000 and SQL2005 exist.

My question are:

Is it possible to migrate the DB from 64Bit to 32Bit via Detach/Attach?

If ok, how to do that?

Any info will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Best Regards,

Kevin

Target Platform As Part Of Configuration Settings

Jul 20, 2015

We have build configuration setup for each environment that we automatically deploy to (DEV, UA, PROD 1, PROD 2, etc.)  We've recently come across a scenario where one environment will now be running a different version of SQL Server than the others.

Is it possible to tie the Target Platform version to a configuration. Such that one configuration could target 2012 while another targets 2014?

Vista 64bit, SQL 2005 64bit, But DB Service Is Only 32bit ?

Jun 6, 2007

I just installed the 64bit Vista and than wanted to install the 64bit SQL 2005 Std. Server on it.

Note: I downloaded my license from https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLicense/L1033/ProductDetail.Asp?SKU=228-05338.

Installing from SQLSTDSEL.ISO file results in the warning that for the REPORT- Server the .NET version has to be 32bit.

Stopping the installation at this point and try to install from SW CD SQL Svr Standard Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #1 x64 MLF.x11-57664 + SW CD SQL Svr Standard Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #2 x64 MLF.x11-57665 does not give the above error but on the other hand installs no server at all since somehow the installation routine is not working at all.

Installing now - after at least analysis server and reports server are 64bit and installed - from the first mentioned ISO results in the installation of the DB- Server.... but as a 32bit installation.

Now I wonder what did not work out - so maybe someone here has an idea if and how this problem is solveable.

What Do I Need To Use SSIS API On A Target Machine?!

Aug 30, 2006

Hi,

I've created an SSIS package to be loaded using my ASP .NET app. This package is kept within the application and loaded via Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.LoadPackage method.

My target machine does not have MS SQL Server 2005 installed. So what do I need at minimum to get this up and running? What components do I've to install or copy over?

I tried to copy just the class libraries across. I copied Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll and Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll into my bin directory but I got this error:

[COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.]

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application..ctor() +87

I can't find any information online so any insight or advice will be very much appreciated!

Getting Error In 32bit DTEXEC On 64bit Machine

Feb 7, 2007

I'm getting

will not acquire
a connection because the package OfflineMode property is TRUE. When the Offline
Mode is TRUE, connections cannot be acquired."
I'm running the 32bit DTEXEC on a 64bit machine since I'm using the Jet provider.
I see in the forum and other places that this error usually occurs when you try to run in 64bit.
I don't get this error when I've tried it, running the 64bit DTEXEC or when I run from BIDS on a 32bit machine.
Any help appreciated.

No Connection Could Be Made Because The Target Machine Actively Refused It

Nov 17, 2006

Hello,
 I am not sure if this is the right forum.
This is the first time that I have seen this error,
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
I have a web app that when some one inserts text in a text box and clicks a button it creates a new web page and a new table in the database.  Up until this point it has always worked.  A datalist returns the data.  In the datalist there is a hyperlink that when clicked takes the client to the new webpage.  But for some reason it is not working now and that is the error above.
I am lost.  Any help appreciated.

SQL Server Configuration Manager: Connection To Target Machine Could Not Be Made In A Timely Fashion

Dec 5, 2007

I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over. Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in. The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one.

All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account. When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.". I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up.

All of the SQL Server services run fine. It is just this management console that I cannot open. I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history.

Any help would be appreciated.

Integration Services :: SSIS 2008 - Using A 64bit ODBC Connection?

Sep 21, 2015

I'm running SSIS 2008 (VS 2008) on a windows server 2008 R2 server. I added a new ODBC driver (Specifically for SAP HANA) and then configured  and successfully tested an ODBC System dsn in the 64 bit odbcad.exe.

Unfortunately when I go to use this system dsn in SSIS 2008, the  "Configure ODBC Connection Manager" is empty. After some research it appears that by default SSIS 2008 (or at least my particular instance for whatever reason) brings up the list of installed ODBC drivers/User and System dsn for 32 bit (C:WindowsSysWOW64odbcad.exe) instead of the 64 bit connections (C:WindowsSystem32odbcad.exe). I'm wondering if there is a setting somewhere where i can tell SSIS to use the 64bit connections by default in lieu of automatically going into C:WindowsSysWOW64odbcad.exe or if there is some other work around here ?

Integration Services :: Load XML File Into Target DB With Conditions

Apr 23, 2015

I am very new to XML file area in ssis, need to load several files into one DB . Details requirement as below.

- XML file is loaded into DW_EXTERN, and then moved to the archive with a time stamp suffix.
--I Know how to move this to Archive folder but i need to move with today's (execution)date, how to do this?

- Loading should be done with usual logging using batches etc.
--Done

- We will receive one xml file per day containíng all changes since the previous file. The file is date stamped, showing the period of time the file contains.

- Initially we will receive 700 files (2 years of data). The package must support more than one file in the input queue, and able to load them in the correct order.
-- using for each loop to loop thru all files ?As per my knowledge files will sorted and stored  in a folder with date modified so, those will get executed in that order, right?

- The package must be able to reload a period. Delete all future records compared to the current file before loading the file.
-- Need to delete > source file date from target table and load the file

Here, i have couple of doubts.

1) How to select source file name with date modified value from source folder using For each loop

Integration Services :: Compare Source And Target Data Using Conditional Split

Aug 12, 2015

I'm encountering a very peculiar situation when I'm trying to compare source and target data using conditional split. Following is the Data Flow and how I'm trying to achieve this.

Source Data : Col_A (PK)      Col_2
                       1                    100
                       8                    500
Target Data : Col_A (PK)      Col_2
                       1                    100
                       3                    700
                       8                    500
Look-up Target on Col_A to check for existing records. Now we have four columns in Look-up match output: Col_A, Col_B, Lkp_Col_A (Target Col), Lkp_Col_B (Target Col).

Conditional Split: Compare Col_B with Lkp_Col_B

Update target if there is any change in the existing value of Col_B.When I'm running the package for every record in source, the conditional split fails and even when there is no change in Col_B, some of the records (Not all and quite randomly) get updated with the same value. If I run the package for few records, it works absolutely fine.

Integration Services :: Text Was Truncated Or One Or More Characters Had No Match In Target Code Page

Aug 11, 2015

I'm trying to import data in Excel into SQL Server table which you would think would be an absolute doddle seeing as they're both key Microsoft products in the BI family..One of the columns in Excel spreadsheet is Comments1 and a couple of the values in this column are over 300 characters in length yet when I set up the Excel source and then open Advanced Editor and look at Input and output properties this column has a data-type of Unicode string [DT_WSTR] with length of 255 which leads to the truncated error in the title.

I've researched this and on find going into the registry and updating the TypeGuessRows value from 8 to zero. I've done this and yet the data-type is still showing as Unicode string [DT_WSTR] with length of 255. I've even moved the row with the largest number of characters to the top of the spreadsheet and changed the TypeGuessRows value to 1 but the data-type still stays the same.I can't believe that it's soooo difficult to import data from one of Microsoft's key BI applications to another using their 'world-class' integration tool.

Migrating SQL 2005 Test Machine To New Machine

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there was any white papers on the migration part from microsoft?
Apparently the situation is like this
Currently installed MOSS 2007 in a testing pc as application server. This application server will refer another testing database server which running SQL Server 2005.

Now, wanted to move this 2 temporary server into another 2 new servers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, it cannot be done by using image like Norton Ghost due to difference hardware spec.

So, if I install another fresh copy of MOSS2007 & SQL server 2005 in that 2 new servers, how can I migrate the contents, documents, etc from the testing database server?

It would be great if someone can show me the links to kb article. Thanks
