I am working on SQL 7.0/2000. I have given lot of permissions to the user 'duser1'. The permissions like select,etc..,create... Now I want to give the same permissions(what I have given to 'duser1') to the other user called 'duser2'. Right now I hvn't created any Database Roles or Server Roles.
Do we have any easy method to copy the permissions of one user to the other user?, like script generation or any method. If anybody knows that please guide me.
I've built a development server for my SQL 2005 productionenvironment. I've restore the databases from a backup, and I want tocopy the users from my production to development machine. How can I do this?TIARob
Hello all,I am looking for the script, which I believe exists already.I need tobe able to populate the script for security of one database andapply it to another database, even if it is located on another server:1. All logins which not exist have to be created and which existsignored including the NT accounts2. Users same as the old database + the existing ones stay in database3. Passwords for the new logins.4. All permissions/grants on all objects for the users that exists(usually it's the case) and ignore those that don't.I have script which does some of it, but it's not perfect, so everytime there are some errors. Please let me know, if you need me to email script that I have. It'spretty long so I cannot just post it in here.Thank you in advance.
In my site, when a user registers, I need to create rows in additional tables besides aspnet_Users. So, I need to be able to pass the generated userId guid to subsequent SqlCommands. I'm having a terrible time with this. What's the correct way to set up a SqlParameter so that it will accept a guid? I keep getting this error: "Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier." I've tried creating the parameter both with and without a SqlDbType. cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue(paramName, guid); and SqlParameter p = new SqlParameter(paramName);p.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Guid;cmd.Parameters.Add(p); and I get the same error either way. Driving me nuts! Any help appreciated.
How can i pass my .net application's Userid to the trigger? I have a audit trail trigger on myTable. I dont know how to pass the userid (not the sql server user) to the trigger when a user delete a record from the application(.NET Application).
The trigger saves the modifications on the table including the userid of one who does the changes.
I have read the previous threads on the bugs with this task mainly: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1438968&SiteID=1 . These are great posts that helpmed me avoid wasting time. I haven't seen one yet that addresses copying an entire database including the sql server logins.
I would like to import the ENTIRE database from one (2005) server to another(2005) using the SSIS Transfer SQL Object task (not just sprocs, tables, views and functions). I have figured out how to pull the tables, views, sprocs and functions ... by using an execute sql task to drop these objects. But I cannot get this to work for users since the user dbo cannot be dropped and guest can only be disabled. I am creating a new database (this is the database where the sql objects will be copied to) via management studio to test this. There has to ba a way to get this working ... Microsoft must have published some sort of KB article on this task or a Script Task using SMO object calls. If need be I can drop the entire database on the target machine and have SSIS recreate it.
The only reason I'm willing to take a risk with SSIS rather than backup and restore is because of time constraints (I assume the SSIS task is faster) and backup storage administration.

The following dbo.Tables of Northwind.mdf in my .SQLEXPRESS (SQL Server Management Studio Express) are missing: dbo.Categories dbo.CustomerCustomerDemo dbo.CustomerDemographics dbo.Customers dbo.Employees dbo.EmployeeTerritories dbo.Order Details dbo.Orders dbo.Products dbo.Regions dbo.Shippers dbo.Suppliers dbo.Territories.
But, I have these dbo.Tables in a different Database "xyzDatabase". How can I copy each of these dbo.Tables to the another blank dbo.Table of Northwind Database?
I right clicked on the dbo.Categories and I saw the following thing: dbo.Categories New Table... Modify Open Table Script Table as |> CREATYE To |> DROP To |> SELECT To |> INSERT To |> New Query Editor Window File.... Clipboard UPDATE To |> DELETE to |> From the above observation,I think it is possible to copy the dbo.Table from the one Database to the Northwind Database that needs to be repaired. Please help and advise me how to do this task or tell me where I can find the Microsoft document that gives the details of this X-copy thing.
Thanks in advance, Scott Chang
P. S. I am using VB 2005 Express to create a project to learn "Calling Stored Procedures with ADO.NET" (see Paul Kimmel's article in http://www.developer.com/db/article.php/3438221) that needs the dbo.Tables of Northwind Database and my Northwind Database has been screwed up for quite a while and needs a big repair.
Is there a way to copy reports from other users "My reports" folder? I am logging onto the management studio reporting services using an administrative account and I am able to view the reports from all users' "My Reports" folder. But I am not able to export them as an rdl file. I am able to export reports from other common folders, but not from the "My Reports" folder.
The reason I need to do this is some of the users have created some reports in one environment and the reports are available in their respective "My Reports" folder. I need to move these reports to their corresponding "My Reports" folder in another environment.
PeopleID in People Table is the primarykey and foreign Key in PeopleCosts Table. PeopleID is an autonumber

SQL Server 2000, MSDE 2000I have a procedure in my application that I would like only one user at atime to be able to run. Is there a TSQL command I can run that willesentially lock a set of tables so others cannot access the table until theuser is done with the procedure or until the user disconnects from thatsession (in case of a hung app, I would like to lock released)TIA--Tim Morrison--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Vehicle Web Studio - The easiest way to create and maintain your vehiclerelated website.http://www.vehiclewebstudio.com
I am relatively new to this platform and am trying to update a table of user information and passwords through a series of SQL commands. We import a new file of users every two hours and I would like to have three SQL statements:
- One to add new users not currently in Users table - One to delete users no longer in our source file - One to update every field (but one or two) for already existing users.
Any help on creating the SQL (as well as where to store it and how to automate it) is greatly appreciated!
I have two table. Department is hierarchical table.
Department --- id (int primary key) --- name (varchar) --- parent (int)
Users --- Id --- name --- department_id
This query return all data from departments. But i cannot understand how get data from users
SELECT t1.name AS lvl1, t2.name as lvl2, t3.name as lvl3 FROM Department AS t1 LEFT JOIN Department AS t2 ON t2.parent = t1.id LEFT JOIN Department AS t3 ON t3.parent = t2.id
I've recently finished an application for a small company with perhaps two hundred employees. Each employee was set up in a Users table in the database, against which application logins were processed.
For just about every other table in the database, other than pure lookup tables, we created columns to indicate the user who created the entry, and the user who last modified the entry. This was done using FK references back to the Users table. Each table contains two references back to the Users table, and there are over 150 tables now that follow this scheme. At first I was not concerned, other than the fact that it makes a visual picture of the data model look very confusing (almost every table has a pair of links back to the Users table), until I encountered an issue where I could no longer delete from the Users table. Upon surpassing 253 FK references to Users, I can no longer delete users, as the Query Optimizer can't complete the query.
Now, all of that so far is really not a big deal. Deleting users was never my intent anyway. The only real question I have is whether this is the standard way of maintaining history for table records. Have others used this method? Is there a better way?
Hi allI have two tables in SqlServer with Exactly Same Structure,I want to Copy all Records fromone of them to another one.I came across to "Insert....select..." statement But i have two problem 1) I don't know any thing about Columns name!!! i just know they have same structure and as far as i know , "Insert...select..." need the Column list to operate correctly, am i right? 2) these two table have One Prinary Key column with IDENTITY feature. Hi i have set up two very simple tables, I want a user to be able to create a basic account ( data stored in User_Profile table with Id set as the Primery Key as Identity) I want the user to be able to be able to return to their account at a later date and then post multiple reviews of different bands they have seen at a later date. I kept the tables in my example very simple so I could get my head around the concept, but generally, I want to connect the Id (PK) value in User_Profile table to the User_Id filed in the User_Review table, so every review that user writes, will be connected directly to their Id.
Any help you could give would be fantastic a i have no idea where to start!!!
User_Profile
Id int, ( as primary Identity Key)
Name
City
Country
I have a second table called User Reviews
User_Revews
Revew_Id int , ( as primary Identity Key)
User_Id int, ( I want this to contain the Id value in the User profile Table)
Hi, All, I have agentID in product table. Now I add agentID column in transaction table. Now I want to copy all agentID from product table to transaction table based on the order_id in both table. Can you show me an example? Thanks Betty
We have an existing SSRS server, and have just created a new child domain. We'll be migrating users from the parent to the child, and want to add the users of that new domain with access to SSRS. In the parent domain they are able to access, but after migration with the child domain account, they cannot.
I have added the group CHILDDomain Users with a system user role on SSRS, and PARENTDomain Users was already there.
Is there any additional step I should/could take to get this active?
I have had this issue just pop up. I have local users who can connect fine, but my users that require connection by VPN cannot connect. I get the server not available or access denied error. I did confirm that the VPN'ers are connected to the network correctly and can see that their shares and mappings are correct. Any ideas? Thanking you all in advance!!
I am trying to revert back to Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 10, however it will not let me and the following message occurs: "Remove new accounts. Before you can go back to a previous version of Windows, you'll need to remove any user accounts you added after the most recent upgrade. The accounts need to be completely removed, including their profiles. You created one account (NT SERVICEMSSQLSERVER) Go to Settings> Accounts> Other users to remove these accounts and then try again".However I did not create any new users and there are no other users listed in the Accounts section.
In our organization there is a call center where operators entry call details and custormer qruery in a table using front end application. For these queries there are multiple no of executive who will reply the query using a front end application. using the application the exectives retrive specific no of records from call center table(if there are unreplied call exists) and reply them. When a excutive retrives specfic no of rows, i want to update a flag in that rows, so that others do not get them.
I use the following procedure which is creating dead lock when multiple users execute it simultaneously

I am new to SQL database design.I am having a table name customerletter_master in which all details of customer letters are saved. At a time i.e in single second around 200- 400 entry are made in customerletter_master table. Hits to customerletter_master table are more.
Following fields are used in customerletter_master – CID (autogen number), letterno(primary key),consignee, consignor, letterstatus1, letterstatus2, letterstatus3, POD, and some more fields. When letter passes to different stages letterstatus1 is filled to yes and then letterstatus2 and letterstatus3 are filled according to passage of letter.
And at same time many user can accesses the customerletter_master table to search any letter according to letterno. Therefore customerletter_master is used to enter data and to search data at same time and there can be more than 200-400 users doing add and search records to and from customerletter_master
how should i design this table. What should i use to enter and search record and minimize the table hits made by the user at same time. Should i use store procedures or any other method to add and search record. Plz help me out by giving some example.
How do i prevent other users from changing the data of my tables? Means one can change data using only my login rest others cannot even DBA or also from server administrator
First of all I want to apologize if I am in the wrong forum. I am new to SQL Server. I have a table with a field containing email address from user input. Is there a build-in function or script in SQL Server 2005 that I can send a template of a email message to users? If not in what way can I acheive this?
hi alli've got two tables called "webusers" (id, name, fk_country) and "countries" (id, name) at the meantime, i've a search-page where i can fill a form to search users. in the dropdown to select the country i included an option which is called "all countries". now the problem is: how can i make a stored procedure that makes a restriction to the fk_country depending on the submitted fk_country parameter?it should be something like SELECT * FROM webusers(if @fk_country > 0, which is the value for "all countries"){ WHERE fk_country = @fk_country} who has an idea how to solve this problem?
I'm trying to find out what tables are being used in a Database.
I don't want the last User but the User and the Dates.
I have a script that return the last user but that is not going to work.
The following script returns the last user but not all users and the Login Name:
ITH LastActivity (ObjectID, LastAction) AS ( SELECT object_id AS TableName, last_user_seek as LastAction FROM sys.dm_db_index_usage_stats u WHERE database_id = db_id(db_name())
autorized user: sa any user : nuran temporary table: birtablo
I need a stored procedure will execute by sa and it will create some required temporary tables for each users. For example table name is birtablo. I mean sa will create table for nuran, and when I checked the owner of the table (birtablo) I want to see nuran not dbo. sa will execute following command:
create table nuran.birtablo (...........)
Is it possible to cerate a table by sa on behalf of any user? If it is, could you please explain?
Hi there everyone, this is my first post so go easy on me :) Basically I am trying to get my database to copy the value in the UserId (unique identifier field) from the aspnet_Users table to a foreign key UserId in a table called userclassset. I have made this field the same datatype and created a relationship between the two. Unfortunately, when I add a user using the ASP.Net configuration tool it does not automatically copy this value into my own custom table. I have noticed it is however automatically copied into the aspnet_Membership table. Any pointers on how to solve this would be great! Thanks :)
